Sorry ppl, perhaps a stupid question or the wrong place to put it, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere in my searches:
Can anyone provide me the physical dimensions of the USB ASIC Erupters?
I need the heat sink dimensions and the length from the end of the heat sink to the start of the usb, if you'd be kind.

Because the width of the USB connector is standardised, I can easily work it out by counting pixels. I measured the width of some standard USB connectors around my place with calipers and they were all 12.00 +/- 0.02 mm

From your supplied image, 90 pixels = 12.00 mm, thus 7.5 pixels per mm

Also from your pic:

X = 449 px = 60.0 mm
Y = 188 px = 25.1 mm
Z = 299 px = 39.9 mm

I have measured leniently the dimensions, they may be about +/- 0.1 mm, favoring the larger for your convenience so that it fits wherever you plan it to.

And,

Heatsink width: 25 mm
Heatsink length: 40 mm
Heatsink thickness: ~2.2 mm
From end of heatsink to end of USB: 20.2 mm

The current setup is:

MSI Z77A-G45
6x HIS 7950 IceQ X2
LEPA 1600W NT
4GB G-Skill Ripjaws
40 GB Seagate HDD
current Riser: 3*powered x1, 1*non powered x1, 1*x16 riser@2nd Slot(always counted from Top)
Rig consumes 1490W now.

-skipped using 4th Slot.
-used shortening mod on 5th Slot.

-flashed Bios with 1003,1490@1.087 VDDC
-used optimized kernel binary from https://forum.litecoin.net/index.php/topic,6058.75.html

-used 13.1 Driver from techpowerup, installed it without sdk and manually installed amd app sdk(dont know which version is installed right now)-
-currently running under Windows8 64 bit with cgwatcher and cgminer3.5 with param:

CoreClock: 1092 Mhz
MemClock: 1490 Mhz
Powertune: 14
VDDC: 1.087V
ThreadConcurrency=22400 Intensity=19 GpuThreads=1 Vectors=1 Worksize=256

My old config was 21712TC with 1003(Core)x1490(Mem)@1.087V - By increasing core hashrate fall down - I stucked at 599kh/s.
Each card consumed 208W

With the new kernel binary and TC switch to 22.4k, it increased to 616Kh/s (2.75%)
..and it had also brilliant secondary effect:
Now i`m able to increase core frequency almost linear to my hashrate. I stopped with 1092Mhz with 666Mhz and...

FINALLY GOT MY 4 GH/s !!!!

Each card now consumes 224W so I think i have to do some more undervolting again

Edit:
Did a lot fine tuning and ended with:
+ pushed core to 1104 on 5 cards => + 7 Kh/s each
+ decreased vddc to 1.081V          => - 2.5 W each
+ switched TC to 24k                    => + 2 KH/s each

just love the result    plus ~47 Kh/s, for 12.5W less power !
pictures get updated, when it pass the long term stability test

Quirks:
With my second rig I had some stability issues. The reason for that had been those fucking default energy-saving options of windows.
- Switch to your energy profile menu and select advanced settings. Disable energy saving for PCI Express
Scrypt mining just sends a few instructions & results over PCI Express, so this could be missinterpreted as a low bus usage.

when you want to rebuild this, you first have toundervolt the graphicards bios before mining, cause you would exceed the PSU limits!

Thx for the 12.6 driver tip as it might help smooth some edges on my 2x 7870xt, and a Pitcairn 7870.

If this stops the 13.4's excessive cpu load issue with sha-256, I will shower you with junk coins !

Here is my latest creation. I would say that due to the heat density of the chips any proper waterblock would need to be rather weighty. Still fluctuations in air temperature do not affect it which is nice.
EDIT: Also a parallel setup going to each cluster separately would work much better than serially as shown here.

I haven't heard of anything for Bfl hardware yet but that may just be a fact of so little hardware floating around.  I actually went back to air cooling as I get better temps just sticking it in front of a house AC vent. (and the footprint is much smaller, lol)  Its also tricky as any kind of experimentation requires the unit to not be hashing, luckily I am not into ROI much and yes I am not there yet  .

Back to waterblocks I do see that there is some work going on for avalon modules. That could be promising for those guys as its a beefy block. We shall see.

works remarkable stable for windows

Note: for getting windows amd driver 13.4 run with > 4xgrakas i had to do an install of 12.6 before. reboot and install 13.4 without uninstalling 12.6 before to benefit from it! - you dont need CCC

Some Story:
My first few setups had been with Mint, Xubuntu, Ubuntu, several BAMTs. Each one had driver, x and kernel vga_arbiter issues which was very frustrating - so lets try windows *pff*
Then, by googling my windows errors    -i finally found my failure: Using several slots with x16 connectors, this downgraded, disabled the other pcix slots. Blame all motherboard producer, for not giving a full technical description for this pci express slot behaviour!

Right now i`m doing another Xubuntu setup, giving linux another chance! It´s errors was completly legitim and it simply makes a lot of fun
i will update this post with xubuntu results.

Your problem is not the extender. You can't run 6 cards you don't have enough IRQs the only way you can do it is if you crossfire!

All motherboards still rely on IRQ. The reason you think they don't is because now it's all handled automatically. You can sometimes still control their allocation manually and make changes if you need to.

The fact of the matter though is that some motherboards just can't run all slots full of cards, presumably because designers of the boards never expected that scenario: their typical customers probably use only 1 or 2 cards, gamers will use more but miners push things far beyong this. The designers and manufactures rely on dual-PCI-slot GPU's covering up other slots - especially the 1x and 4x slots - inherently limiting the number of devices that can fit on a board in 'normal situations'. Cryptocoin miners are unusual in that a computer case is not nessesarily required and we like to use PCI risers. Motherboard limitations are separate to any maximum GPU limitations imposed by the OS.

Don't say things you haven't tried.
I am not 100% certain of the IRQ reason, cause I have no way of testing it, but what I read is that 7th series cards need two IRQ per card, that is why you can run 6 cards 5th series but not 7th series, or at least 7950 and 7970. However if you crossfire them they work as a charm.
(and on some MOBOs you cant even run 5 cards although you have enough slots)
