Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Yes- I am a terrible, terrible man. I'm not sure how I sleep at night.

In all seriousness.... Yes I'm wasting water, but if these weren't going then I'd be using a lot more electricity, which would have a similar effect to the eco system (nuclear power plant emissions).

Also, water is so so so cheap here that maybe my neighbors bill is like $0.25 more than normal....

You are also playing devil's advocate BR0KK, if you were really that worried about the ecosystem, then you wouldn't be wasting all that power to run a 4 GPU rig....

PS: Shuddup ya damn hippies  Wink (joke)

The thing is.... dumbfck, you pay for the damn electric you're using, not your neighbours.

Brokk pays his electricity so your point is moot. Do your parents behave like this? trash dump more trash i guess.

LOL.. It's not really for long term use, I had all the equipment lying around and I was just testing it out to see if it worked. It has only been going for about a month.

And what do you know about my parents? Stop acting like you know me.. I've held a job since I was 14 years old... I am no thief.

You guys going to bash on me for "stealing" (which it's not by the way- it's not.) Just cause I'm using more water than my neighbors... it's not my fault my stupid duplexes split the water bill in between everybody. Otherwise I would gladly pay it... THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO SPLIT UP MY WATER BILL SEPARATE FROM MY NEIGHBORS.. just be quiet and mind your own business.

You want me to go around and give a quarter to everyone in the neighborhood each month? Maybe in a year, they can have $3. Woohooo!

I'm sorry for sharing some pictures that I thought were cool... I will never do it again I promise.

I wouldn't run the cooling system personally, but i think it's cool that somebody did it for the sake of it.

No you wouldn't. I was curious about how much I would pay in water bills if I setup such a system when I started mining. If I remember correctly where I live the water would cost 5 to 10 times as much as the electricity used to power the rigs.

And I did the maths using the best conditions: I computed the lowest water flow possible based on low incoming water temperature and highest safe output water temperature (60°C which should be safe enough for the GPUs but may not be safe enough for the tubing, joints, ...).

eeeshhh...  Two risers daisy chained like that?  IDK if I could do that myself without worrying like crazy.  Then again for cards that draw less power, this may be less of an issue.

LianLi v2000b; 4x Asus 5870 on a 990FXA Gigabyte board with a opteron 145; Powered by a Corsair HX 1000w.
They were downclocked to about 750 - 800/110 and undervolted...

I don't remember the temps but they were in-between 85 and 95° C. That rig was pulling around 800w out of the wall plug.
Overclocked to 970/110 (and more) the rig would pull more than 1.2kW. The NT is really good, it survived heavy OC for a month Wink

Maybe ill find a pic of the stats somewhere.

It never gave me trouble, tried with 3 to test it, worked like a charm, no errors, wires not getting hot.
I'm keeping the cards at 1,2 Vcore max, so they don't get that hot.

Yup, they are the only cards that survived.
My other 4 cards have had bad, broken fans, are RMA'd, etc.

I only kill the dustbunnies every 2 or 3 months with some compressed air.

Monday, hopefully I get my 2 new Gigabyte HD7970 cards (for my second rig).
Wanted to order Asus HD7950 but all sold out...

that's a good design, I am thinking something like this, my previous design isn't that stable for the "second floor" cars.

I had some materials laying around, so the design was based on "hmm, what's in stock?"  Grin

Nuclear power plants emit almost nothing.  They are required to by law.  Coal burners on the other hand release more radiation in an hour than a nuclear plant is allowed to release in a whole year.

The coolest part is I can monitor it remotely, and it has several temp sensors and is set up to shut down if it gets to hot.

Care to share your remote monitoring and auto-shutdown strategy?
