I just made an account to confirm what you say is true. I am a 1% earner in a G7 country. Given the systemic risk in the current financial system, Monero offers significant promise, and I am investing accordingly. Short term volatility is immaterial to my interest in Monero. Busy adults who are important in the real world don't troll internet forums. These trolls have an agenda, and aren't fooling anyone who matters.

The good news, from the observations of the Polo, the number of coins in the range 0.03 increased sharply last 10 thousand, and the number of coins in the range of 0.02 decreases, you can see for yourself. This is a positive trend in increasing prices.

Not even 2 weeks ago I had a longer talk with some entrepreneurs (biotech/health), one of them made some nice money with BTC years ago, with that profit he founded his companies. Now he was totally out of crypto, although some of his friends were still into blockchain, but they were pretty blind to XMR. As I told him detailed about XMR properties and the recent price changes/attention, his eyes went bigger and he asked me indeed if going in with several millions of Euro would stir the price at the moment.  Grin

I told him to perhaps to wait a little bit till the price and dust settles and then decide to go in.
Many forget how we play with small money here around 6-15 USD per coin and a small market cap for a huge game changing project.  Wink

I hope they will start buying it because Monero needs new investments in order to grow bigger. In my opinion it deserves larger market cap than bitcoin, but to achieve this there need to be some buying from the weak hands into the stronger hands.

The price seam to increase above 0.01 sometimes(desparate pumpers?) but desparate bagholders are always quick to dump the price down again Grin

The peaks are getting lower, still not 100% comfortable with my short, considered closing it with small profit(0.3BTC) to short again during peak. There was a recent 360BTC pump(only increased the price to 0.0105).

Don't know if anybody mentioned it yet, but I noticed that Poloniex finally reduced XMR withdrawal fees from the ridiculous 0.2 XMR to 0.05 XMR.

Just in time.  Cheesy

Guys, guys, guys... c'mon!  This forum is IMHO entirely too bogged down lately with the tiny miniscule day-to-day price movements of XMR.

This is the SPECULATION forum, right?  So, here's a much more interesting (IMHO) big-picture "speculation" for y'all to chew on.

 Grin

----------

We can all agree that investing in any crypto is a high-risk, high-return endeavor, right?  Just a nosh above outright gambling probably LOL

Many people much smarter than ME have said, many times, that overall this is probably a binary-outcome type situation, i.e. either crypto in general is going to totally fail for some reason -OR- it's going to fully take over the world's finance infrastructure.

One or Zero, in other words.

People have said that BITCOIN will be worth $0 nothing zilch nada, or in 20 years it's gonna be the foundation of global finance.  In this case,  each "whole bitcoin" will be valued at present-day purchasing power of $1 Million per BTC (i.e. so that a single satoshi, 0.00000001 will be equal worth to a PENNY today).

Now, to be a BILLIONAIRE in this future world, one needs to have control of 1,000 BTC

A thousand bitcoins today costs over a half-million dollars in the old-world, fiat currency... unfortunately putting it out of reach of most common people. Back in the early days, when guys like Laszlo were throwing around tens of thousands of BTC for a pizza, it was feasible for an ordinary person to sock away a thousand bitcoins.

But sadly, those days are LONG over, and for someone like me, I know that short of winning the PowerBall I ain't ever gonna own a thousand BTC.

But, it's not at all clear that first-mover bitcoin is really going to be that final crypto-currency global dominant winner.

It's a standard truism in software development, the first version of almost any software is hardly ever any good.  You have to get something to about Version 3.0 before it's really solid.  So, in all likelihood there's going to be something equal to like bitcoin 2.0 then 3.0 evolving in this space WELL BEFORE we see any real chance that a crypto-currency will take over the world and reach these global adoption type numbers.

This means, to me, that there's still a chance (however small!) that many of us right here in this forum have NOT YET missed the boat, and we did NOT really lose out on the opportunity to amass 1,000 of whatever the ultimate global-adoption crypto coin will be.

Putting aside 1,000 Monero even just a year ago would've cost only about a thousand dollars.... call it two or three bitcoins.  Chump change.

Putting aside 1,000 Monero even TODAY would cost someone only about $5,000 to $10,000... the fiat value of just a crappy used car.  Totally do-able.

The downside here is you lose a used car, but the upside is you're retiring AS A FREAKING BILLIONAIRE.

Now, yeah of course you can't do this with EVERY likely coin that MAY have a shot at taking over from King Of The Mountain BITCOIN.

Maybe it's gonna be Monero.  Maybe Dash (LOL).  Maybe this upcoming Z-Coin (double LOL)... or something else nobody's ever thought of yet.

All we can do here is just try and stay on top of things, pay attention, place your bets where they are most likely to have a shot...

...and may the best coin win Smiley

Wouldn't it be funny if someone waited until you were fast asleep before pumping the next leg up?

Difficult to close a short when you're sleeping.

You can set a stop-limit for a short, not an ideal solution due to the fact that the price often icnreases temporarrily, unfortinatily unlike N-rG i didn't short when the price was above 0.015, big mistake.
