Sell me some monero, I command you!

I am happy the price is moving up. However, I hope it will continue like this for ever.
It is possible to have a coin that rises for ever. What it requires is constant demand which exceeds the supply, and the constant demand can be derived from the overall economic growth.

Wow, Monero is impressive!
The more you learn about it, the more impressed you may become.

In an alt speculation thread, you must pardon my skepticism of the basis of your voiced awe.  My priors would have that your statement is based on the nominal tripling since the beginning of June.  I admit that by trading standards, it is fair to call that performance impressive, but to my mind it is one of the least impressive, and in fact distracting, and ephemeral features of Monero.

The most impressive aspect of Monero, to me, is the character of its leadership, the core team.

Second would be the exquisitely tuned feature set implemented by the reference implementation.

Third would be the deeply informed cryptographic design of its basic protocols.

Fourth would be the maturity and knowledgeability of its community.

Fifth would be the scope and, in light of the political-economic context of our times, the credibility of its ambitions.

I could go on, but my purpose is only to signal that there is more here than meets the eye of a casual observer, and it may behoove you to look more deeply, and do the diligence required to find out why Monero is, as the title of one book about Monero would have it, "Better than Bitcoin".  If you are lucky, by the time you have done that homework, the price will be lower, so that you can own more of it.  If you are unlucky, you will end up buying at whatever multiple of the current price the market has meanwhile discovered.

Somewhere near the bottom of my list would be the early birthpangs of price volatility down in the noise of a low cap alt, unknown to, and unowned by, all but a handful of enthusiasts.

Where do you all see the price of XMR on the 1st of the new year?

- Oasis implementation is great news, if AlphaBay follows would be even better...

FTFY.  Oasis implementation is not a real, deployed, usable thing yet, AFAIK.  I guess we are in "buy the rumor" mode, but I think the news will be followed by fundamentals-driven appreciation, so I am sympathetic - yeah, you are so right.

I think sales volume on one market will be an important signal to other markets, but we are a long way from that right now.  Probably it won't be a factor until the GUI is official.

Still, this ramp can go a long ways yet, on rumor and speculation.  It is just brutally hard to get Monero at this price.  Unfortunately we seem to be heading to a bubble-spike, which means an over-reactive correction will come, and a lot of discovery will happen before any significant market use can begin in earnest at some quasi-stable price.  Probably near 10 usd, and probably not for a few months yet.

While Bitcoin stable at Monero have a chance to reach the price of 0.015, and this in turn will attract new serious investors who are interested in the development of the coin. The more coins the greater its price support and develop the developers.

Monero is not very ideal for trading, it's more of a coin you hold for the long term.

I don't think it will crash and disappear from the map like those scam coins out there.

If ATH will be ever reached, I think after that there will be very little to none resistance to grow.

At some point the mining will be a resistance (around 7900 XMR/day these days). On the other hand, there is an opportunity for margin long positions which will feed the growth.

So the first wave of darknet adoption is coming with 2 confirmed markets (Oasis, Alphabay) working on implementation. The rest will follow soon once they hear about it from more users. Fuck social media, ppc and ad marketing, we don't need that. We just need the GUI asap and then the best we can do is educate darknet users about the technology behind XMR. The word will travel by itself with some small initial help.

...

How people will find Monero if there is no marketing?  Huh

Word of mouth.

Word of mouth during the early adoption stage approximates exponential growth since the rate of growth becomes proportional to the number of existing users.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

That's probably the strongest form of marketing when people tell each other their own personal user experiences to each other. Therefore, I think the best form of marketing for a product like Monero is to bring it to the lips of vloggers and perhaps also bloggers with wide audience.

People will discover Monero from word-of-mouth, blog posts, articles, comments etc. From services (like DNM's) accepting new payment options, and so on.  Soon the whole userbase of Oasis and AlphaBay will be greeted with a safer way for them to transact. This type of marketing is the most powerful available.

Sure you can reach 100k people in 24h with internet marketing, but out of those you would be lucky if 10 dig deeper into the subject. 99% of the viewers are average joe people that don't give a fuck about investing or why anonymity is good.

AlphaBay is the biggest. Congratulations on your success.

Forgive my petulance and oft-times, I fear, ill-founded criticisms, and forgive me that I have, by this time, made your eyes and head ache with my long letter. But I cannot forgo hastily the pleasure and pride of thus conversing with you.
