no one aint never said that the governance is decentralized. At some point humans do stuff. Its what the humans do thats important, not the fact that they're doing stuff.

Hey trolldev, can we make the next rolling fork only create 50 mil coins this time? I think the last 100 million was too much. Smiley

I dunno if the core team would approve that. We should try though, yah know, because all the other chains rw doing it

It is not up to the core team. The community would not accept it. In any case Monero already has a history of a community takeover. Furthermore do not get me started on the Darkcoin Foundation's failed attempt to "buy" Dashcoin from its developer. As for "pulling an Ethereum" with Monero good luck trying to seize coins without breaking the subsequent transactions.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

Sorry a hard fork is a hard fork. Monero is not decentralized.

From one perspective, you could say it's not decentralized unless you can launch the thing on the internet and have it exist like a virus where it's difficult to change or get rid of.  From another perspective, you could say that if changes are voted on independently by miners and not forced by a central party, then it would be decentralized.  It all depends on if you think Fluffypony and Gmaxwell are dictators or not that can always get their way no matter what.  They obviously can't, because it's just like a regular shareholder's meeting where miners will vote them out if they're detrimental to profits.

In that manner, Bitcoin should function a lot like a normal corporation to maximize profit.  Bitcoin isn't a virus, it's an automated corporation.

XMR requires new terminology to distinguish the regularly scheduled fork.  "Firm fork" seems inevitable.

Sorry a hard fork is a hard fork. Monero is not decentralized. Some marketing buzzwords attempting to hide that fact will backfire eventually.

How about you finish the project and stop forking it. Then go create a new project with the new features you want to add.

Eventually you need to take off the training wheels, if you want the community to take it seriously as a decentralized protocol that no one can overpower. But any way, Satoshi's design doesn't really remain decentralized anyway, so I guess it is pointless. We just need to admit that none of this stuff is decentralized and we are wasting our time.

Why don't you stop posting on this forum and get back to your world-changing-crypto-diety-no-flaws-project?

You sure post a lot for someone who has an absolutely ground breaking project/invention that is going to blow the water out of all cryptocoins/projects that exist. If I had such a world changing project I wouldn't be posting until I had the project 100% complete, then gloated (if at all).

Your approach seems to be talk a lot and back it up with nothing (so far).

Please put up or shut up.

Thanks.

Time is running out for this correction, just as volume is drying up and the 4h BBands are tightening. Primed for another move soon, so either up or shit the bed.

There is like over 1300 XBT in buy orders on Poloniex. Is something going to happen when people wake up in Europe?

Probably orchestrated by klee and his goons. Let them play their games and fuck each other up. Just like the rest of the thread. This will be back to 225 in a week.

Yup. Totally manipulation. Pay no attention to Monero, surely it's going to go down soon...right? That GUI stuff must be a hoax.

Like I've been saying, someone knows something.

A lot of those 1300 are far enough from market as not to matter.  That doesn't change the fact that we've got some persistent buyers in there - buyers of only moderate patience.

1000 BTC now and 220 BTC at 4% under the current price.

If those 200 are ready to actually buy that means a lot. But since most likely no one will want to lose 75000 XMR to dump them in it, probably dont matter at all.

Once we're about one week clear post the BTC halving (~July 17th) we'll start to see proper harmonic market intent and a reconstitution of the base.

And I know the dump is coming when Aminorex is bullish and the perfect timing for accumulation is when 1) Aminorex is quiet (he is buying) 2) Aminorex tells us how good opportunities there are in shorting wheat and having long positions in NOK-USD trading pairs.

BTW. Mr. Kavasaki has lost his interest in Monero completely. RIP I guess.

No it isn't. Price was stuck at 50c USD for a long time. It is up 4x from that now. Hash rate is not up more than that, and probably less.

Hash rate is about doubled from that era, IIRC.  The fact that it remained so low leads me to believe that it wasn't particularly profitable to mine, however, and was sustained by believers, rather than profiteers.  Current conditions appear to be more appealing.

I'm beginning to think a lot of the hashrate comes from what I call "benign botnets" or what some have called "evil sysadmins". I know of at least 2 individuals that have popped up on IRC asking for help with setting up such operations. if there are 2 people that find their way to monero irc to look for help because they don't know what to do.... that means there are probably a sizeable amount of sysadmins that do know what they are doing and do not need to show up at monero IRC asking questions and therefore are just happily mining away with otherwise idle computers that are severely understressed with their MS office and Edge workloads.

Also keep in mind that for a while, even at 20 cents / XMR, the hashrate was at 20 Mh/s... so perhaps the recent price spike has brought these players back, whatever they are.
