They are also idiots. Forget AE and even buying gems in the app for arguments sake. If the user numbers I think are coming in the next 6-12 months then you will have a massive user base. Even if many of the these users spend them on giftcards, returning the gems I assume back to the team who will need to sell at some point to recap dollar cost of the giftcards I assume. Even then many users instead will horde the coins, across say 200,000 accounts even that will create an extreme scarcity of coins which are in circulation. So even without AE and in wallet buying the value has to increase. Also the team have every motivation to keep the price higher if it has to step into the market....who would blame them as vol increases to pump a little  What I'm saying is gemz has already created a micro economy, which will only increase as airdrop and more users are added. The price now IS stupidly low, many will regret not buying at these levels later next year, I guarantee it.
