Didn't Friedcat also say that divs will probably be monthly instead of weekly moving forward?

He did indeed. Second hand, and stated as a probability, but still..

From Jutarul's q&a session with him:

"2) With the switch to selling chips, can we expect dividends to be paid out on are "more monthly" basis?
re 2) Most likely yes."
really hard to wait.

Sage advice.

It's all very odd isn't it? Chips have been shipped out on mass and yet anybody who doesn't follow the AM threads appears to have no idea. After some dividends begin rolling we should see the forums light up like they did last time Friedcat was "making it rain". We've waiting this long but somehow this month is the most painful. Only 17 more days.

If divs continue to be distributed on Wednesdays then we'll have to wait another day, as the 27th is a Tuesday.

ASICMINER's always been like this, which is why I'm holding. They tend to be low on communication, but they've got a good track record of getting the job done and bringing value to shareholders. I kinda like it this way, since it helps prevent the price from getting overinflated due to hype. Better than the companies out there who are all talk and no results, at any rate.

Of course, this is still all a gamble. But I was a shareholder last year and I have fond memories of the dividends we were getting back then. Looking forward to the return of those, even if they are only going to come once a month now.

How many chips have been shipped out? The promised 850k or just the 23k to rockxie?

Are we waiting for gen3.1 or still for gen3 chips?

There's no difference in production time. AFAIK they simply enlarge an area when packaging the chip or something similar in order to get rid of the heat better. There's no change in the circuits themselves, so no tapeout, test batches or anything. Like when you ordered 100 cars and before/while they are being made you tell the factory to paint them in another color.

All the drama with the other companies (not only in the US) has made me realize what an outstanding job AM is doing.

Here is a summary (and we can probably add a lot more drama we have seen in the past few years) in the Cointerra Class Action Lawsuit Thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=578384.msg6562741#msg6562741

What stands out that AM has avoided all that. Never took orders for a product not in stock (and hence never under-delivered), never did cannibalistic crowd funding, survived a couple of setbacks, and is still at it). I also posted this over there.

I guess that I didn't realize only selling what you physically have in your possession was such an important concept.

Bone up on the history of the mining companies around here. ASICMINER is the only one that's never taken "preorder" money, AFAIK. Selling only what you physically have in your possession is very unusual in this industry.

I believe many of you are following the ROCKMINER thread, but just in case: They just released the specifications for their first product. Sales seem to be starting shortly/now(!?) as well. When considering the power consumption, keep in mind this is a nominal consumption and it includes the whole miner hardware and fan. Furthermore it only features 4 chips, so the whole overhead may again be significantly less when it comes to large scale mining boards. Gen 3 hardware is beginning to ship! Awesome, huh?

Just saw that and ran some quick numbers.  Payback is questionable even with 25% difficulty increase per month and cheap power...

Let's hope that the overhead is cheaper for larger miners.

What retail price are your calculations based on?
A monthly increase of 25% is rather optimistic. I guess we should consider at least 75%.

Not sure what he was using, but I just saw this:

retail price:RMB 565; reselling price:RMB 505;

From the Rockminer thread:

Batch produced will be done after 10 days, which is about thousands units, then can be shipped out.Current price is around $90,but it will be adjusted then,so we dont accept preorder now.
Bades will be TGH/S in June,if everything works good.

If the whole miner is $90, each chip is ?

Probably can calculate approximate chip sales from these numbers

Probably can calculate approximate chip sales from these numbers

Effective Hash Rate: 30~40GH/S > 0.99$/Gh/s at the best > 1000 units = 40 000$ for ASICminer, and 90 000$ for RockMiner(100% margin) > 40 000/400 000 shares = 0.1$ div per share  from RM batch 1

but they received 23 000 chips, so 230 000$ from this order is more accurate, so about 50cents/share
