1301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: May 09, 2023, 04:33:13 PM
But, have you seen the betting market? Did you know that even though Real Madrid will be playing at their home ground, they're not favorites here. Manchester City who play away are the favourites. I don't know what happened there, but I have a bad feeling about Real Madrid.
Manchester City are in blistering form of late and challenging for the treble, it is normal that the bookies feel their chances of winning is higher, thus a lower odd; Real Madrid on the other hand are on the verge of relinquishing their la liga title to Barcelona, and even though they have won the Copa Del Rey and are in the CL SF, i think City is the more in form team right now.

Having said that, it is not the bookies that play the game, and Real Madrid would not care about that, even last season their chances of eliminating Manchester City was lower even until the last few minutes of the second leg, but it was them that went through and eventually won the CL. Anyway my prediction for this game is still in favor of City, this has to be their season and i see them defeating Real Madrid both home and away.
1302  Economy / Economics / Re: Deposits-in the bank or in gold? on: May 09, 2023, 01:04:19 PM
How to save savings in inflation, there are many deposits provided by the bank, but banks often go bankrupt, does it make sense to buy gold? How is gold bought in a bank and interest is issued on it?
Gold is not bought in a bank, but it can be kept in a bank for safety. You can buy physical gold from people who sell it, you'd have to look for sellers in and around your location. Gold can also be bought in the form of jewelries or accessories, meaning you can buy gold jewelries from either a shop or from people who want to sell their gold accessories. Gold could also be bought in the form of stocks, etc, just surf the internet and you'd get many other ways to purchase gold, then select that which is best for you.

Having said that, banks do not go bankrupt all that often, but your money in the bank wouldn't accrue too much interest, and might also depreciate in value because of inflation. Buying gold is a great option, it is a safe haven asset/a store of value, its price does not move sporadically and it does not pump like crypto, but what you get with gold is stability and a fair ROI.
1303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Annoyed by Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens? Here come the Orcs!!! on: May 09, 2023, 12:48:15 PM
Does brc-20 are solution to bitcoin higher fee issues?
You seek a panacea from the cause of the problem, that is ironic. Brc-20/ordinals/inscriptions is what's causing this clogging in the mempool/Bitcoin network. Well the end of this brc-20 tokens/ordinals would be the solution to this present issue of high transaction fees caused by this BS.
1304  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 09, 2023, 12:21:51 AM
José Mourinho has his own way of trying to make changes to the PSG players, and I'm sure José Mourinho is still capable of doing that, but what must be considered is that PSG is a football club that is quite big and worldwide, so José Mourinho has to work hard at his old age and have an extraordinary experience that could make José Mourinho fit to be a PSG coach.
What old age? Jose Mourinho is just 60 years of age, and that is a normal age for a football manager. PSG is a big team you say, yes they are, but Mourinho is a very big and experienced manager, who has previously managed clubs bigger than PSG, clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United. I don't know if Jose Mourinho is ready to leave Roma yet, but if he is and PSG manage to sign him, it'd would be great for them, i mean, they want to win the CL, Mourinho has won it twice with Porto and Inter Milan, thus that makes him a good man for the job.
1305  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: May 08, 2023, 11:19:09 PM
I don’t want Man City to win the CL but I think they will batter Real in the semi final and then go on to win the final. No more last minute winners and snatch and grab victories for Real this season.
I don't know if it'd be a battering really, but i am just pretty sure that the CL title is City's this season, and not even Real Madrid can stop them. Just as you said, City were by far the better side when they faced Real Madrid in the SF last season, though costly errors made them lose, right now City are a better side than they were last season, and they have now got Haaland, who is somewhat unstoppable and wouldn't fail to punish Real Madrid when he gets his chances. I think City are going to comfortably win home and away.
1306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: May 08, 2023, 10:17:14 PM
I watched the Brighton vs Everton game. I never could have predicted that result. Brighton is a team that is in a very good form while Everton is battling relegation. If the score line had gone the other way round, it wouldn't have been much of a shock.
It is what it is, and the truth is that it is always quite tricky to play a team fighting for their lives in the EPL, and Brighton found out about that today. In this period of the season, upsets usually happen, the teams deep in the relegation battle can cause some shocking results, that's just the beauty of the EPL.

Having said that, big win for Everton, which moves them out of the drop zone and up to 17th on the table with 3 games left to be played, the pressure is back on Leicester City and Leeds United who are both 2 points behind Everton. Nottingham Forest also got a big win today against Southampton, and they are now 16th on the table, just one point above Everton and three above both Leicester and Leeds, we'd soon find out who is going to drop down to the Championship.
1307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best time of day to send crypto from ledger to exchange? on: May 08, 2023, 06:17:24 PM
Can i just confirm that now the transaction didnt go through and the BTC has gone back into my portfolio is that the end of that transaction or can it still go through once the 40 sats per byte is matched?
@JamesDaniel90, for the umpteenth time, please read what other users have been telling you. Yes, that is the end of that transaction if you can see the funds you wanted to spend back inside your address, it means that your transaction was rejected, and that is because the fee was too low, thus there is no way your transaction can go through any longer. If it is still pending, then it can possibly go through, but you could choose to use RBF to hasten things up.

Having said that, if you really want to spend that funds again, check the mempool before spending to know the most suitable fee rate to choose for your transaction to be confirmed as soon as possible.
1308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 2 questions that bother me on: May 08, 2023, 04:08:24 PM
2/ In your experience, is it a good idea to buy a chip the second it is listed for a profit?
Well, i have no experience in these things because i don't buy tokens/altcoins, i am an avid Bitcoin enthusiast, so i try as much as possible to buy and hodl only Bitcoin. Anyway from the experiences of others and from what i have read online, it might not be a good idea, these tokens are pump and dump coins and they can only survive on hype alone, quite a lot of them dump once they are listed. Mind you that a whole lot of these tokens were created by their owners to get rich themselves, thus they put no work into the projects, once they get the money they want, they dump it in an exchange and that's the end of the coin, if you're hodling it by then, i'm afraid you'd be on the receiving end of things.
1309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: May 08, 2023, 11:03:35 AM
The two matches in the Semi-finals seem to be really difficult to predict. A few days ago I might have thought Inter Milan would be the favorites against Ac Milan. but then I saw that Ac Milan also played very well in their latest match in Serie A. So now I'm starting to think again and don't know which team I should favourite.
The Italian top teams have been so erratic this season (except Napoli), thus this game is so unpredictable, it is fairly even at 50-50 imo, though i think the advantage might have shifted a little bit to Inter Milan's side because of the Injury to Rafael Leao against Lazio in the weekend. Even though his manager said it does not look serious, there is still a cloud of doubt as to whether Rafael Leao will be available for Wednesday's SF first leg against Inter Milan, the Portuguese superstar is so crucial to everything that AC Milan does, and if he does not play, Inter might actually have the advantage.
For the Real Madrid vs Man city match, I will probably favor Man City in that match.
Likewise myself, i have a feeling that this is Manchester City's season to win the Treble, it looks to have already been written in the skies and not even Real Madrid can stop them from getting into their 2nd CL final in their history; City would win this game both home and away.
1310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best time of day to send crypto from ledger to exchange? on: May 08, 2023, 09:17:09 AM
What is going on with the fees lately?

I have just checked again to see how much it would cost to send more BTC to Coinbase and the 3 options are SLOW - 505 sat per byte MEDIUM - 506 &  FAST - 557  Shocked
Why are you asking the exact same question time and time again mate, Ordinals/BRC20 tokens are clogging the Bitcoin network and making transaction fees shoot up, there are quite a lot of threads discussing the same thing on the forum, even in the topic you created; thus you should no longer be asking "what's going on with fees"? But rather what's the solution to it, which i am afraid has to be either paying a high fee for higher priority, or low fee if you have time on your hands for your transaction to be confirmed (though you might want to enable RBF in case you get tired of waiting). The good part of things, as i have read though, is that this hype might not last too long (though don't take my word for it), thus things might return back to "normal" sooner or later.
1311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: May 08, 2023, 08:03:05 AM
Guardiola will definitely measure the opponent's strength in order to find a gap through the Real Madrid defense, the combination of Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Mahrez can be relied on by Guardiola to win at the Santiago Bernabeu.
I don't think Riyad Mahrez is going to start against Real Madrid tomorrow, i'm pretty sure Pep is going to play Bernado Silva over him in that right side of attack, whilst Mahrez is a very brilliant footballer, his work rate leaves a lot to be desired, and in big games such as this, when Pep needs all his players to contribute, both in defense and attack, Mahrez more often than not doesn't get picked.

Having said that, Bernado Silva is an excellent footballer, and with him, Haaland and Grealish in attack, Real Madrid's defense would have their hands full, i'm pretty sure it'd be a midfield trio of Rodri, Gundogan and Kevin de bruyne, i can't really predict the defense, with Ake out of this game due to injury, i expect Pep to make some tweaks in defense, and we'd see about that when the teamsheets are out tomorrow.
1312  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do I keep crypto after buying it? on: May 08, 2023, 06:54:14 AM
People store their assets in hot or cold wallets to prevent hackers and the unexpected locking of assets in exchanges and other factors that you cannot get your funds.
Mind your that funds stored in hot wallets are also susceptible to to being hacked/stolen, thus only keep an insignificant amount of your funds in a hot/online wallet, it should be your "spending funds", and must be an amount you can afford to lose. For your significant amount of your funds you cannot afford to lose, use a hardware wallet or other forms of complete cold storage, like an airgapped computer.
1313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: More exchanges shutting down, Hold your Asset with You on: May 07, 2023, 06:47:25 PM
Centralised crypto exchanges are bad we get it but which centralised exchange can we use to hold up a small amount of our Bitcoin temporarily even if it is for the shortest period of time just to carry out a transaction? Furthermore because other centralised exchanges are going to shut down how about those that have already stood the test of time, the attacks and hacks, the political and social witch-hunting. Should we also be wary about them too?
Yes, be wary about all of them, all the centralized exchanges that have gone down also had their heydays, and in those times people said the same thing you are saying now, but when they collapsed, the victims who kept their funds there had themselves to blame, but it was then too late. Having said that, as long as the money you have in an exchange isn't for day trading, you should move it to your non-custodial wallet, don't leave your funds in an exchange, even if it is temporarily.

Generally, Custodial Wallet on this crypto sphere is a storage of crypto currency that offer centralized service. This kind of storage such as centralized crypto currency exchanges. Binance is one of the best for this option, although i believe that there are many options out there. Binance has secure system and big volume.
When you talk about storage of cryptocurrencies, mind you that you should be looking away from exchanges, it is really baffling to me why one would leave good non-custodial wallets and keep their funds in an exchange that can be hacked anytime, or that can confiscate your funds for any flimsy reason. Trade on cryptocurrency exchanges and hodl your funds in non-custodial wallets, not just anyone of them, but a good one like electrum that is open source.

Thank you everyone for your candid opinions I sincerely appreciate. As a newbie, I've decided to follow laid down principles of this forum so that is why I tend to ask questions and seek clarifications wherever I'm somehow confused in the forum.
Whilst asking questions when stuck is good, mind you that the forum doesn't have too many rules or principles that if broken can get a user in trouble, the most obvious rule that would cause a problem for a user is posting plagiarized contents and posting malwares too, every other rule is somewhat minor and if broken you'd basically just be corrected, but plagiarism and posting malware would get you banned.
part of the forum's mission to be as free as possible.
...
Limiting newbie participation is very harmful for a community.
The post above is from the forum's administrator, so just post as freely and original as you can, your participation in this forum isn't limited in anyway. Just garner knowledge and discuss about Bitcoin and its whatnots.

Bayern Munich made a big mistake when they fired Nagelsmann this season and maybe they had better luck with Nagelsmann in the champions league right now Nagelsmann is a coach with offers from Tottenham and other teams...
Julian Nagelsmann and Bayern Munich is already a closed chapter, Thomas Tuchel is their new manager and that's the reality, Tuchel hasn't done well since arriving, he has been eliminated from two competitions and has only the Bundesliga title to compete for, anyway if he can win it with Bayern, it would help him prepare efficiently for next season. Having said that, Spurs seem to be interested in Nagelsmann, i don't know if he would want to go there considering the fact that Spurs do not win trophies, neither do they even compete for it, and Nagelsmann is a very competitive manager, but we'd see what happens in the Summer.
1318  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best time of day to send crypto from ledger to exchange? on: May 06, 2023, 08:35:47 PM
I am very new to all this all my crypto is on ledger never heard of mempool.
You are new quite alright, but just like o_e_l_e_o said, you are ignoring the advice of people trying to help you out, how can you say you've never heard of mempool when it was mentioned quite a lot of times in the previous thread you started and has been mention quite a lot of times in this thread too, it shows you are not reading, but only posting. The mempool is different from your ledger, your ledger is your HW wallet, whilst the mempool is just a "waiting room" for unconfirmed transactions (i hope you didn't mistake it for a type of wallet).
So as I have selected 40 sats per byte when the lowest I was being offered was 140, I should expect to wait a few days for the transaction to complete?
As has already been said, nobody can know for sure the exact time you're going to wait, just be checking the mempool whilst being patient, and if the transaction is still unconfirmed, you can bump the fee, but that's only if your enabled RBF.
High fees are annoying, but you need to look at a bigger picture. If Bitcoin suddenly went up and you want to dump it, it's better to pay a high fee (like $5-10) and get high profit than to wait for lower fee and risk the price crashing and your lost opportunity being higher than the saved fee.
Well, i don't think this is the most appropriate way to view transaction fees (whether high or low), every Bitcoin user should be happy to pay transaction fees and take it to mean them giving miners an incentive (or encouraging them) to mine Bitcoin and keep the Bitcoin network functioning well and most importantly, securely.
1319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: May 05, 2023, 05:42:26 PM
City v Leeds tomorrow is going to be pretty interesting, Sam Allardyce has just been appointed as the new Leeds boss, and his job is quite simple (but difficult): save Leeds from relegation. I didn't know big Sam was ever going to get back into the EPL as a manager, he has previously been appointed by clubs in dire situations like this, and he didn't do too badly, thus let us see if he can tick all the boxes for Leeds and keep them in the premier league, mind you that Leeds are 17th on the table, thus big Sam has his work cut out for him.

Having said that, in his first press conference upon his return, big Sam said there is no manager better than him in terms of footballing knowledge, he claims to be on the same level with Pep, Klopp and Arteta, thus i can imagine what the headlines would read if Leeds get a result at the Etihad tomorrow or if they get a battering. Grin

Injuries really messed him up lately and its difficult if he will ever be able to play at some level. But knowing Zlatan Ibrahimovic i think he will continue to play football as much as he can. If he dosent find a big club he will probobly go back to Sweden and play there for sure
As a footballer when you get to a certain age, you can no longer play at the very top level, fatigue and recurrent injuries would definitely plague you, and thus you will be too slow to perform. Zlatan Ibrahimovich has been ineffective for the past couple of seasons now, i know he won the Seria A last season with AC Milan, but he contributed little or nothing to that title victory. Ibrahimovich has to accept the fact that he is 42, and either retire or go to a less competitive league to continue playing football, definitely no top club is going to be interested in him at the expiration of his currenct contract with AC Milan.
