Damn, casperBGD! Smart start with the nil-nil, and almost perfect score so far. Early games and I'm down 2 positions, can't seem to get a hold of Top 5, but I would never have gone 0-0 on Torino in any case.

Just wish Inter score had remained at half time so I would have taken the full 3 -- then again Monza should have scored even in 1st half so in hindsight 0-2 wasn't that great a pick.

Can't believe I missed that Newcastle was hosting City today. I thought Chelsea was the only game, so after that I just switched off and dawdled on tv.

Then I go on Superbru and saw I missed a cracker. Toons even led, but KdB is king, unfortunately.

You're right about the other idiots, but I can make an exception for Pulisic: others were available for games and had plenty of time to improve, whereas Pulisic has fought with injuries throughout his career; he has the fire inside him, but his legs won't let him play.

I always feel sorry for injured people, so yes, I retract grouping Pulisic in there.

Re Rooney, don't forget he was part of a golden generation of players, turned managers, neither had sustained success. Rooney did great for Derby in my opinion, Gerrard was all right in Scotland, but struggles even in Saudi. Carrick had some joy last week, let us forgive them for failing... doubt many managers now in the top tier could fare better.

Remember, an established manager can make more demands financially. More budgets. Better player access. Better coaching staff.

I feel for Rooney et al. Doomed to fail.
1345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where have all the low volatility slots gone??? on: January 12, 2024, 07:01:10 PM
I'm actually waiting for a slots maker to do something similar -- not that it'd entice me much.
It's interesting that some of the oldest and logrdt running casinos in crypto actually have some of the most technologically advanced and versatile slots. To be honest I wasn't even aware. This seems like a good selling point to experienced gamblers and it makes me wonder why it's not promoted more.

I've mostly been playing on Stake and over there when playing slots I actually have a preference for the so called stake original slots, which are made by the casino and not any specific third party provider. These had good RTP and also were provably fair.
I was hoping we would also see more games like these but with lower volatility.
But the bigger and most advertised casinos don't seem to care that much. Probably the profit in higher volatility stocks is better in the long term so if a casino gets big it tends to ignore them?

Yeah, these oldies don't get the attention they deserve. Not surprised you haven't heard of them but surprised some posters claim to have years of experience yet didn't know. There are crypto gamblers... and there are crypto gambler posters Wink

The market caters to slot players, which is why "crypto slots" are only RNG slots featuring crypto buyins, but not slots using cryptographic hash functions like the examples I shared do. If developers created good slots but fixed the RNG to use cryptographic hash functions, they benefit from lower house edge (because they don't need to pay annual RNG 3rd party verifications, customised RTP (players can set volatility as high/low as they want, players would flock.
1346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tired of ordinal spam? Try another flavor of spam! Here is the menu! on: January 12, 2024, 05:41:02 PM
I really think the majority knows how this things end.

I remember a time in the HYIP schemes when everyone that participated in them knew they would flop, but the thing was that the first ones would get their profits, so they participated in a clear ponzi scheme but treated it as a betting game, trying to make sure that they get more than they lose, so my guess is that most involved with ordinals do the same, mint before it's too late, buy and try to sell for a small profit, all before it goes down. One has to remember that despite being somewhat foolish these guys are still one tech level above the average Joe that was purchasing ICOs shares with ETH.
I might of course be completely wrong but I would say less than 5% of the buyers actually believe in holding those for years as an investment!

I would even argue the majority of early users (developers and market makers) set out knowing how it ends, and hoping it ends the same way. So yes to your HYIP mirroring (those guys are still around, they pre-date crypto so I saw them even in the late 90s). It's just dressed up more attractively, with public devs who're happy to pretend they're doing it for the greater good/spirit of crypto but who must surely know they're just starting up yet another train ride on well-beaten tracks.

I've known myself to buy into the odd vanity item -- things I know will never really have the value I fantasise about but still an inconspicuous piece of history I'd like to know I at least did. I've got stamp NFTs from Austrian post to prove I'm not immune to silliness but yeah, I know how it ends.
1347  Economy / Gambling discussion / AFC Asian Cup 2023/24 -- betting/match discussion only on: January 12, 2024, 04:16:29 PM

Self-moderated thread, and I'll lock it after end of comp. I doubt there's much interest, since there wasn't even a topic I could find in 10 pages!

First match has kicked off. Hosts Qatar are already leading 1-0 to Lebanon -- edit, disallowed, nil-nil. Four years ago I was confident of Qatar being a huge darkhorse and was right. A largely unknown team playing behind closed doors before they unleashed themselves.

Some interesting teams, including Australia who's got a naturalised Uruguayan 36-yr old leading the line. Some Southeast Asian teams dreaming to make it out of group stage to at least upset the powerhouses of Japan and South Korea.

Post your bets, discuss the gambling opportunities, but please don't spam.

P.S. It's sad. It's really sad. I tried searching for a post here and not one from a football confederation representing 1/3 of the world population. There's been discussion elsewhere and popularity on crypto gambling is apparently not here yet -- you bookmakers need to sit up and eat that big market in China at least, because football betting in the black market is huge!

I said it early man, im completly cursed, a WALKOVER , incredible i dont see so much light at the end of the tunnel. I see another opponent of my scoring against me 5+ correct answer.

I'm 2 points ahead and hold an advantage on the Spanish Super Copa, so yeah, I feel like I'm in a great position. I'm not looking at the sheet too carefully but if Barca win, the worst I can do here is a draw. I'd really like the win to put some distance betwixt myself and relegation but my target is to draw every remaining round.

Trump is trailing 1 frame... spelling disaster for my Trump winner pick, but he does like to play catch up so fat lady is far from singing. But yeah, need Croatia to lose to secure my winning point... sorry Cro2 I have to root for Greece.
1349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where have all the low volatility slots gone??? on: January 11, 2024, 10:31:55 PM
I know this isn't really what you're asking for but I'd like to offer a post with an actual picking instead of most posters above.

Have you ever played crypto-based slots like the ones at Crypto.Games and Bitvest? The former has several settings for low to high volatility -- throw in the low house edge and you'll get as many 1.1x or 2x as you want. Bitvest has the same. Six default settings (lowest volatility is 20x or so on every combination) but also the ability to set your own payout. Pretty easy to set 5x settings to often, sacrificing rarer 500x.

I'm actually waiting for a slots maker to do something similar -- not that it'd entice me much.

~ I'm hoping for a big Clasico final.

You got what you wished for. I personally would have preferred Atleti Osasuna final, but El Clasico is nothing to be sniffed at either. I'm not sure we're watching the same Barca though. Yes, they've had great results vs Real in the past few H2Hs but Real has Bellingham... Barca's struggling to beat Las Palmas, I'd have thought you would prefer to meet Simeone's team.

Either way, important final as it's a key BSFL question to bookend the round.
1351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you willing to bet $50 spin for a chance to win $42 million? on: January 11, 2024, 08:45:55 PM
I see the Sportbet player is making his rounds. News of them, anyway!

I see players regularly betting far more to win far less. On my last visit to Sportsbet (physical), think a whale was there regularly plopping down six figures on football live. For odds lower than 2/1.

I put aside a few euros a week to win whatever jackpot's on offer.

So, rhetorical question? =)
1352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tired of ordinal spam? Try another flavor of spam! Here is the menu! on: January 11, 2024, 01:46:35 PM
Too early in the year for me to consume Ayre conspiracy theories but given the willingness of many coin-laden individuals in the past to sink fortuitous gains into pursuits of fame, I wouldn't be surprised.

And yes. Ordinals only the latest reimagination of spam. Personally against, but not enough to be outraged. When, not if, it goes out of fashion, thete will be plenyy of parents grimacing at their inscriptions.
1353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet.io AFCON 2024 prediction pool discussion thread on: January 11, 2024, 11:03:42 AM
Right then, we're near the first game and we've trashed Onana and Nigeria and AFC, but is anyone up for quick sidebets?

I don't know the players well enough, but I'll offer a 1mbtc like-for-like bet on these outcomes of these group games:

  • Ivory Coast clean sheet vs Guinea Bissau
  • Amoura to score vs Angola
  • El Khannouss to have 2+ shots vs Tanzania

If anyone wants to go against them, feel free! Better than bookie odds, so I'm giving away free money haha.
1354  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitcoinETF approval will possibly cause much bigger jump than most people expect on: January 10, 2024, 08:06:53 PM
That SEC hijack was nice, not spectacular, disappointingly. The day of days, tomorrow eh OP?

You know things are heating up when ETF headlines share the same breath as S2F(x).

P.S. 1miau, don't know how I missed this post, I usually skim over this section
Probably due to the mixer ban and people commenting more in Gambling / Gabling discussion, it's really quiet here in Bitcoin discussion, at least compared to as it's usually.  Cheesy

Makes sense. I started my life on the forum in some godforsaken place but it really was spent mostly in Bitcoin subs until I became a hell lot more familiar with that side of utility haha (plus the fact I realised I was far less able to contribute than more learned members post 2017).

I do find even in discussion now there is a strong speculation tinge, less and less utility for some reason.

Fuck seems like i keep on the same bad luck path, one day and two incorrect, for worst only 8/50 players put the correct answer in the first question and one was you, and i see the goal missed by Palmer, and in the second question Fiorentina and Bologna had situation to score a few goals hittin woodwork several times.

Lazio-Roma seem to be very keen to not score. HT and only a single shot in the entire game, so odds are very good for you to at least breathe easy on this one.

On ATP, one of us will get a point. Only Shelton and Norrie left and both should have a result over the next 10 hours or so, by the time I wake up. They're the top seeds but I have hope in their failure Wink
1356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New opinion of PlanB on: January 10, 2024, 04:15:33 PM
PlanB's better than most but he's conveniently forgotten he got it way, way wrong on his last bull call. Feel like it's slightly off character to go for half a million too, thought he'd be a bit less troll this time around.

I'd happily eat any item of clothing if he's right (but after 2024 can mean 2099 too...).
1357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 10, 2024, 02:46:13 PM
I was mostly surprised by Havertz - he was never a finisher, but some of his decisions were shocking yesterday.
I still feel he's got fantastic potential, but he's stagnated since his Leverkusen days - maybe even gotten a bit worse in the process.

Moving to the Premier League was the wrong move, or perhaps it was too early in his career; he had tremendous potential but too weak to withstand the intensity of the Premier League. A player of his calibre should be playing behind the attacker to conserve energy, but his decision making is poor for that role.

I thought Chelsea was the issue, but he's proven to be his own problem.

I could be really unfair when I say this but...

...Havertz, Pulisic, Werner strike me as the same category of player -- all broke through the ranks in Bundesliga as pretty damned good talents. All wanted by Liverpool, pursued for years, but finally opting for Chelsea, and then somehow regressing.

I'm not blaming Chelsea at all, they all came under various managers, but I agree they made a wrong move, too early, but I can't help but wonder if they'd have thrived under Liverpool/Klopp instead. Klopp has a habit of turning weak players into strong stuff. Fabinho was a Monaco lightweight, Robbo even when he first came in, so was TAA actually but they got to the physical levels required of EPL after first seasons. Firmino even to an extent (also a Bundesliga import), Salah. They all really built up strength even from mid-20s. We did fail with Keita, he remained lightweight to the end but his injuries prevented him from developing really.
1358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: January 09, 2024, 10:11:48 PM
Nice article shaming Div1 for exiting the cup and highlighting interesting battles in this final third; may I sum up by saying: "bad luck, darxiaomi"? I took quite a few risks Wink

Hahahaha thanks for the reference man, i forget this round was against you, the "borneo headhunters" against "the terror of the south atlantic". I also take some risk ~

We both thought we took risks yet we differ in 6 questions! Happy to say that Chelsea obliged me and gave me an early goal. I always thought they were a risk but I figured 0-0... guess United old boy will savour this defeat over the Blues. Now Liverpool just need to get over the line too!

If the remaining Italians in Coppa all can please score, I'll get a second point, but if we both get it wrong, then it's down to 4 questions to separate us.
1359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +93999 units on: January 09, 2024, 09:39:31 PM
Well Im glad that Manchester United didnt actually lose to Wigan because it would make my day bad for the rest of the week but honestly 0-2 against Wigan while Ten Hag uses his main squad is not really what I expected. On top of that, it was a goal from Dalot and a penalty from Bruno. I was kinda expecting Holjund, Garnacho or Rashford to score today

I hate to say this but Manchester United really need to patch up the frontline otherwise I dont see how we'll make it to top 4 by the end of the season

I get how you feel. My team not winning generally sets my tone for the rest of the week. It's not that bad as I say but a great win somehow ensures I wake up on the right side of bed.

Rashford assisted, so don't feel too bad. Garnacho really did need to find better passes, though, Hojlund deserves better service if he is to at least continue his good cup scoring runs. And that means... playing Sancho-quality players (but he's off now isn't he?).

Team needs an overhaul, not so much of personnel but mentality. That's all. Ten Hag underestimated the English game, Ajax had fun toying with Eredivisie but you need mental strength, fearlessness and brute force to augment talent on English pitches.
1360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Three basic fact you would love to know about bitcoin on: January 09, 2024, 08:12:56 PM
3. Bitcoins have to be stored in a digital wallet, either online through an exchange like Coinbase, or offline on a hard drive using specialised software.

Fun fact I discovered several years ago talking to non-users (just people who bought to speculate er, I mean invest). Most owners have their coins stored on an exchange or even worse, on a site/broker/app. They see a digital wallet, but only in the same vein as any other digital wallet. They don't use a Bitcoin wallet, so don't deal with Bitcoin private keys or addresses, and don't interact with the network.

To demonstrate (Covid times maybe, don't recall when exactly), when PayPal offered Bitcoin buys, a lot of users "bought" Bitcoin with PayPal. So their wallet showed Bitcoin, priced in USD, and they could sell it at any time, but there was no way for them to actually withdraw that coin to their own wallet.

These aren't coins. These are just made-up numbers.

I don't know how it is now in 2024 but I wouldn't be surprised if most new investors don't actually even really buy actual coins.
