1401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase CEO Says SEC Told It To Delist Everything But Bitcoin: Report on: August 03, 2023, 04:24:14 AM
Coinbase or anyone would be ill-informed if they were surprised by this. Despite the claims of thousands of crypto (be they blockchains, currencies, tokens, apps like exchanges) to be decentralised, few, if any, truly are. In fact, the more they lay claim to being "decentralised", the less likely they are.

Funny enough, Bitcoin itself -- at least by early proponents and developers -- hardly mentions decentralisation. Proof in the action, rather than the saying, you know.

The SEC already acknowledged Bitcoin years ago, but could never truly believe anything else to be "decentralised" -- as recently as April they even warned so-called DEXes that they will be regarded as typical exchanges (and in the case of token-issuers like Uniswap, even issuers of securities).

Sorry CLS63 that I completely forgot about our sidebet last season, I've requested payment now from my Livecasino wallet for your entry so we should have about 20+ now. I'll update the signup thread shortly once it gets processed.

Lavia instead of Caicedo for us? I guess the total recall really is happening. VVD and Konate I felt also needed new faces to challenge them. They are certain starters but they haven't really been what I called rocksteady.

No title for sure, but let's hope we put together another fearsome team!

And there we have it, gentlemen. One favourite (Italy) already smashed to smithereens by their far less fanciful opponents in the Women's WC. Happy to get that one right... anyone else fancy Japan to win this edition? Tournament favourite USA can't seem to score. Japan have been the most clinical (beating a really superstar Spain team way, way taller than them with a huge scoreline) -- I think they just need to overcome Norway (who just woke up) and I think they have a great chance.

1 point to me, Harko, watch out!
1405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: August 02, 2023, 03:34:26 AM
Thanks Trofo, saw yr invite and was first in (after you). Is the new project at work related to gambling? Look forward if so...

Happy to see all the asses I kicked signed up, Next week I'll kick a few more if I can stop being lazy to look up usernames =)

What I really like about Superbru is their persistence  Cheesy I turned on the notification option and they send a message that it is necessary to make predictions, first it seems a couple of days before the games, then one day and then the day when the games take place. And all this is done in ultimatum formulations marked "Urgent"  Grin And it really works - out of 4 pools in which I participated, I did not miss a single game.

I only missed one entire round last season in all pools, it was the most costly too (UCL Last 16) as I was in good positions. That one I swore I put in picks... but I switched off reminders.

Always good to check before kickoff again I guess.
1406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | Prelim Qualifiers on: August 02, 2023, 02:38:04 AM
Damn, what and ending in Olimpija - Ludogorets game. It already looked that Olimpija is in next round already they were leading 3:2 on aggregate, but on 90+12 minute referee decided to award penalty after VAR review. But then Olimpija goalkeeper saves penalty and become local hero. And also ruined my bet and BSFL prediction...
Zrinjski ruined my bet by scoring goal on 93rd minute and taking draw from this game. Didn't watched game, but wow, 9 yellow cards were showed.
Much moire interesting action tomorrow where from all teams only Dinamo Zagreb can be confident about reaching next round already.

Same here, and same for the majority of us in BSFL. Local heroes, and a reminder that these mid-level quality teams like Ludogorets are way too overestimated by books and coefficients.

BATE won't be repeating past seasons' journey, good riddance. Anyone think Sheriff will be tonight's BATE?
1407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin ETF got approved in Europe? Really on: August 01, 2023, 04:46:20 PM
Yawn. Show me just one big company who'll buy this ETF and I'll change my mind about how insignificant they are. Read news history on this ETF on Google and ut fell into the same ETF trap of the US with CME et al. Loads spent on hype and expectation. Delay after delay (I see an article in 2021 during the bullrun, what else eh, about a delay date for 2022 and it's now 2023), and a whimper on launch.
1408  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN NEED NEW MONEY AS MUCH AS HALVING TO SEE SUSTAINED HIGH PRICES on: August 01, 2023, 03:26:53 PM
Something I do ask myself each time we expect a rally: where will this cash come from?
From the recession bruh!
The bankrupt companies, the people who lost their jobs and savings, the banks with no money, the investors left penniless from the stock market crash, the war refugees who fled with their families and two pairs of socks, all of them will throw their money at bitcoin.  Wink

Anyhow, people should not forget that even after the halving if the price will be 100k per coin you will need money invested daily to offset the mined coins. Last 24h it was $31,294,399.12 , with coins at 100k and half the reward as how you would still need $45 million daily!

Judging from the US people I knew who put all their relief money into crypto, you're probably right (I'll conveniently ignore that they used it for Bitcoin buys but only to later on exchange for shitcoins and gambling). I shouldn't generalise since I meet only the audience of my Bitcoin haunts online Wink

And yes, people still forget new coins being pushed out daily. It's still going to be significant for a couple more halvings at the very least. But it's so inconvenient to count all that huh.
1409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: August 01, 2023, 02:25:36 PM
Love the cup questions. Answered under 15 seconds, I felt like I knew enough about all the teams to answer off the top of my head. I see from responses here I'm not the only one Wink

It's even possible to put an acca on all the questions, if I just wasn't lazy to do so... I imagine it's at least 32/1 if every outcome was more or less 2/1.

Considering that the Cup winner's payout equals the Top 3 position in the Division 2, I'm going all in on the Cup.
I've had disappointing results in the league recently, but the cup draw has been kind to me and has offered me a passable opponent.

I can't remember when I saw it but you answered the question that was on my mind actually! Definitely worth going all in for.

1410  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Now let’s talk about CEX or DEX on: August 01, 2023, 03:03:42 AM
Which platform do we think is more reputable and have good track record of security? Does either of them have good liquidity?

You'd have to move the thread to altcoin discussion. Should be more appropriate given that it's about DEX.

Not true. You have always been able to trade Bitcoin using a DEX... Uniswap and all them altcoin-swapping platforms don't lay claim to being the first DEXes around, you know. They may have popularised liquidity pool style AMMs but certainly weren't the first, nor the only ones.

They're not even half as decentralised as p2p exchanges like Bisq. Non-custodial is probably the only aspect most DEXes can claim accurately.
1411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏁🏎️ Sportsbet.io🏁 FORMULA 1 2023 Season🏁🏎️Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: July 31, 2023, 05:55:37 PM
No need to talk about dominance from this season's winner elect but yeah, Piastri let many, many of us down. And I slipped back to 8th, which I guess is my actual position -- two races in a row where I am way, way off the lead, but now we are past the halfway mark and absolutely looking good for those in top spots. Super round for you, CasperBGD!

Didn't know there was pp subscription for different viewing, I might ask cryptofrka for a peek if he really buys that... I remember a few years back when La Liga introduced player cams for football -- not my thing at all but I imagine it's a hell lot more interesting for F1, especially if they let you hear driver radio.

Next stop in a month, and in home territory...
1412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: July 31, 2023, 04:06:10 PM
Sorry guys, i failed this time, i dont beat buwaytress and now him can brag on us. I know Verstappen its gonna have more than 12 seconds, but i also think this time Perez wants to fight a little more and also a SF car can reduce the gap, but seems like Perez its not gonna fight anything.

I honestly thought you'd take this too -- but Max is just so dominant. Since overtaking for the lead, he gained an average of almost 0.9 seconds per lap... driving the exact same car as his teammate. If anyone ever doubted his superiority, very race dispels this doubt.

No bragging for me yet. 6 more rounds = 18 points! And 5/6 opponents left are in top half...

Liverpool have been anything but rampant in recent, so I'd rather not have you triggered by the fact a rampant Liverpool is headed to the Europa League this season, I'd never qualify your with such mediocrity buddy!

Bring the heat on however! I prefer to face Liverpool as Everton than go head to head vs Man City  Tongue

Good luck man! You'll be needing every bit of it, come the weekend, that's if I've not won the round before Friday already.

Love the spirit. I've just leaked your comments to the press and to the team Whatsapp group. They're so pissed they want to beat you before Thursday so they can go home early and prepare for the league once more Wink
1413  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of ?? ?? ?? on: July 31, 2023, 08:11:43 AM
Piastri let me down big time. Even had him in 6th, and he did the worst possible outcome, oh well.

Don't forget to claim Clubhouse wager bonuses today, peeps. I know I forget so often!

Trying a particular thing with F1 all-inning every race til season end -- will share how that goes in November after Abu Dhabi.
Good luck of course, it'll be interesting to review the outcome.  Wink Wink

So far so good with 2 races, and no close calls just yet, but I know we should have one at least this season -- as long as Max keeps his consistency running, I think we can count on one podium min per RB, and then the all-in should work a treat.

Happy to know you're following this with me, let's hope for some good news to share in 4 months or so!
1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When it's all set and done, do not forget those in need. on: July 31, 2023, 03:39:11 AM
Objectively, any kind of financial gain, Bitcoin included, must involve the taking from some. But you could arguably say the same of any form of consumption.  Eat and you take, from someone, somewhere.

But if you always give back, or pass on, and attempt to leave behind a world that is slightly better than without you, that is all you can hope for.

Bitcoiners, thankfully, from almost all my personal interactions on and off forum, have shown themselves to be generous and eager to pass on goodwill. Long may that continue.
1415  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN NEED NEW MONEY AS MUCH AS HALVING TO SEE SUSTAINED HIGH PRICES on: July 31, 2023, 02:01:00 AM
Something I do ask myself each time we expect a rally: where will this cash come from?

For retail, disposable income only happens if there is no economic crisis -- even Covid itself wasn't so bad with most buyers spending relief money -- those who didn't get it or who suffered weren't Bitcoin buyers anyway. But the still-rising inflation and yet-known crisis impact worries me. Then again, maybe retail is no longer important. Institutionals? They never have issues raising cash. You've got free fit printing, magical debt creation, liquidation of other assets, and oh, even made-up stablecoins. That could all flow into Bitcoin.
1416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: July 30, 2023, 02:30:26 PM
Round 1
Match 1 : Harkorede vs buwaytress

Damn! What an horrible way to start the cup for me, an unbeaten Man City team at the top of the table vs a struggling Everton team in the middle of the pack, huh! Grin

@CRO2 Team, just for a heads up, please don't send us the usual Tuesday reminder for this round, because I know he'd need a reminder to submit his predictions, that way, it's going to be an easy round for me, when my opponent get zero point for the first 3-4 questions from the round.

------------------------

@buwaytress how about our usual 2mBTC on the side ? Just a quote to me on this would do, if you're game  Roll Eyes
[/quote]

Harko my man, you are on! Just please call me a rampant Liverpool instead haha, then we at least can call this the Merseyside derby!

I feel so exhausted even at this stage for some reason. Players are running on fumes and manager not been sleeping, this round was murderous -- I made duds on both combat questions, KOs for both was the way to go and I chose the other way. Now I needed Liquid to keep me ahead because Max has that grid penalty, it appeared darxiaomi had the advantage there but now it's all to fight for with one last quesyion. I suspect we get a draw, but I'm backing Max all the way.

So this cup round will be a bit of a break -- I accept the no-reminder challenge Wink
1417  Economy / Economics / Re: What are some financial secrets that you know of? on: July 30, 2023, 04:25:21 AM
Not so.much a secret but poorly understood in my country of origin and of residence: the state guarantees qualified bank deposits up to a certain amount, per bank. Remember last year, a survey was done in my country of residence (supposedly high financial literacy) and fewer than half of respondents knew this, even fewer know the amounts.

Bitcoiner here, but I believe in spreading my risk if you have dependents.
1418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Talmud (or Order 2.625 Bible) on: July 30, 2023, 02:15:04 AM
Hate to say it, but franky's right about your math. You don't think of a figure and then look for a way to arrive at it (thinking myself now of how people seem obsessed with 21m and then look for a way to arrive at that, as if that was ever the predetermined destination).

Correlation is not causation, try as hard as I may, I find no need or even economic interest in a Bitcoin holy scripture.

2.625, if you suggest, can also hardly be the universal sum. A Papua New Guinean holder and a Swiss holder surely shouldn't hold the same "optimal" sum?

Op, did you use AI to write this? I didn't even read what you wrote. But the content doesn't seem original. Different Ai content detectors detect your content as AI writes. I DON'T WANT TO BLAME YOU since I haven't seen you using AI before to write content. Only you know better if you have used any kind of tools to write this or not. If you did, you would get caught eventually and then boom!

If you did not use AI, thank you very much, and I am sorry to bother you. But, if you did. Take this as friendly advice and never use AI to write content to post in BitcoinTalk.

If he did use AI, it was only to help his layout, OP's at least his own author bringing something new to Bitcoin discussion (IMO). Posts like yours, on the other hand...
1419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: July 29, 2023, 04:03:20 PM
How come you have bad video? I always have perfect full HD streaming on Twitch. Only possible if your internet connection is bad.

That third map was something special let me try it explain trough football terms. Liquid was leading 4:0 and then Talon managed to equalize in last minute and we went to penalties. Where Talon was leading 5:4 and their goalkeeper just saved the ball but while they were celebrating that ball got wicked rotation and finished in the goal. Now following isn't possible in football but that goal was valid for 2 points and if it came half a second later it wouldn't stand.

Think of Zai illegal moves like Messi tying several defenders in a knot.

Now there was more tactic involved in that and they didn't just forget about Zai, they realized what he was doing at the end and tried to come back to stop him but his live teammates managed to slow them down enough to win.

Not really passing as Dota fan yet but you get maximum points for effort. I would never just try to listen to game Smiley

Bad internet for sure. I could still see the spider, just not sure what was going on. Commentary works for me for most sports, no idea why, but it has to be in English of course. I read today that that day in upper bracket was the best games in the sport ever. Feel pretty lucky I "watched".

I might do that more, for sure big tourneys like this seems worth it. GG are amazing in bottom bracket huh, they play in 10 minutes, I wonder if there is fatigue factor here. Liquid is well rested (and look like they're headed for the final) and if GG make it past Spirit, they'll be having very tired brains/fingers I assume.

I agree with cryptofrka on bracket system but we probably discussed earlier pros and cons. Brackets ensure good teams consistently finish -- hence domination of some teams in US sports and it seems DOTA, and ensures payouts of investment in good teams. KO ensures more underdog factor and gives more watchability for the neutral -- but it seems to reward investment less, but I prefer that! Hence I'm a fan of UCL KO and not the new league format that ensures survival for upper half of new UCL single league.
1420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin foundation on: July 29, 2023, 09:01:25 AM
So why is the number 21 million so important? Is it a magical number or your religion?
The number is not important as if it can create value,

Good explanation if you read every single post and email ever made by atoshi but the simple answer: 21 wasn't important, and never was. satoshi guessed at it (not alone).

The idea was to define and maintain a way to get everything running on its own and game theory traveling over time. Make it so supply of new coin is big enough early on for distribution and subsidy, that it contracts enough and at pace with market for miners to wean off subsidy and live on fees. 14 years and counting, it works.

Also, worth noting that 21m came after the idea, perhaps the better question s how the starting number of units was arrived at, as discussed in response above. Equally unimportant and I feel, arbitrary at some point.
