1481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE RIGHT TIME TO MOVE IN on: January 03, 2023, 07:56:48 AM
Another Bitcoin halving is expected to come in 2024. As it has been in the last two Bitcoin halving, the bull run follows. As we anticipate another Bitcoin halving, when is the right to buy in and stock up Bitcoin in order not to be left behind in the next bull market?

In my opinion it's a good time to be buying Bitcoins right now, the price is between 16-17,000 USD for one BTC which is very cheap compared to the price over the last 2 years. For the last 4 weeks the bitcoins price isn't changing much, we are in a sideways trend that is going to end eventually. The next halving event could be a good catalyst for prices to rise again. Nobody really knows what the real price for one bitcoins should be, but 16,000 USD seems way too low. Buying now some coins seems like a good deal, but we also don't know if prices are going to fall lower in the next few months. That is why I would recommend you split out your money and instead of buying all the coins today you make 3-4 smaller purchases each month this winter and spring. Like that you increase your chances to take advantage of any new price drop coming.
1482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 02, 2023, 12:19:02 PM
Do you play national lottery games (Powerball, EuroMillions, Lotto etc)?

Yes I play the national lottery from time to time. Winning the lottery is such a rare event that I am not really believing in it, but whenever there is new very high jackpot I start dreaming again. Playing every week lottery is too expensive and will not lead to big wins, in my opinion its best to only play with high jackpots as you get the most money if you ever would win. The main motivation for me playing lottery is not winning the jackpot but rather the fear of missing out of a win. All my friends play the lottery and we usually tip together whenever the jackpot is full. It's kind of peer pressure to join them, because the worst thing would be that all my friends win the lottery and become millionaire and don't get anything of it.
1483  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to raise funding for trading? on: January 02, 2023, 11:52:24 AM
I know nothing about  fundraising so please guide me through this process for my better future.

It depends a bit on the amount of money you are looking for. As a successful trader it should be easy for you to convince potential investor to give you some money. I would recommend you to make a summary of all your successful trades over the last few years. Best would be to make PowerPoint presentation where you can show how well your trading capital performed. Make sure to add some form of benchmark, maybe some stock index and the bitcoin price. You could show like that that you did much better than a vanilla investment. In case you want to start slower and don't take in foreign money, you could ask your friends and family that are looking for better returns. Right now with the high inflation and still very low interest rates on bank accounts it makes a lot of sense to invest in cryptos. Just be careful that you don't make too big promises as it could lead to unhappy investors.
1484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Types Newbies Should know About on: January 02, 2023, 09:36:59 AM
  • In-play bet: Some bookmakers call it live betting, yet the concept is the same – bettors have an opportunity to make wagers while a game is active. In live betting the odds change during the match.

This is a great list of betting types for beginners and should be a must read for anybody going into sports betting. Making sure that we understand the type of bets we are taking is important as it could lead to a big loss if we pick the wrong bet. Sports betting can be a bit confusing at first, especially when we are used to only gamble in casinos. Reading some articles before getting into it is very helpful. Something I would like to add to the in play bets is that this can be a great tool to try and turn a bigger loss into a smaller loss or even a profit. Most of my bets I place several days in advance to try and get the best quotes. During the match itself many things can go wrong and our team could be losing. The most unlucky foul could change a game completely and ruin our bet. That's why I try to watch the games I bet on live as much as possible. And when my bet is lost or has no real chance of winning, I can place a live in play bet to recover some of my losses from the initial bet.
1485  Economy / Economics / Re: The world continues dumping US dollar (Gold, New World Order, World War III) on: January 02, 2023, 09:25:18 AM

With that said, 2023 outlook is already bad economically speaking.
How much of the points I raised do you agree with and how do you see 2023 specially when dollar dumping continues?

I am really surprised that gold has been performing so well in the last 2 months, because the rest of 2022 it was not moving at all. Still remembering my grandparents telling me that gold is the best investment when the world is in trouble, but when the Russia Ukraine war started and we reached double digit inflation rates nothing happened to gold. Maybe the correction we are seeing right now was overdue. Gold seems a good trading material for Russia as the have been isolated on international markets for months now. China could come in a similar situation if they increase the aggression towards Taiwan. Maybe we going to see gold become the number currency for international trade again if the Dollar dumping continues. This could be also good for crypto currencies as they are an alternative to gold for protecting our money.
1486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting strategy question on: January 02, 2023, 07:53:02 AM
Personally, I prefer higher odds to win, but smaller winnings, than low odds but big winnings. In my opinion the lottery game has too negligible a chance of being involved.

A few years ago I stopped buying lottery tickets, although I used to buy them from time to time. There were times when I won, but it was ridiculous money, which barely paid back the tickets I bought.

If we talk about the terms offered by OP, I would not risk more than $100.

Lottery is probably the most famous type of gambling that you will find in any country around the world with millions of people playing each week. My grandfather played lottery regularly for more than 40 years and never had any big win, he only lost money with it. That is probably why I am so against lotteries in the first place and try to avoid them as much as possible. Only when there is a big jackpot I am playing, and then is not really because of having a real chance of winning, it's rather the fear of being left out. All my friends play together lottery for the big jackpots and my fear is that if I ever wouldn't join them that they win the jackpot and all become millionaires and I get nothing. There is always the stories from some small towns playing together and a few people not joining them and they have to live in a street where they are the only non millionaire. Playing games that have much higher chance of winning with only a small payout are more appealing to me. It's more satisfying to play games where we can win on a regular basis than chasing a jackpot that we might never win. And if I ever come across a game that has a positive expected value for the gambler I will play as many rounds as possible. If only one round is allowed I would bet as much money as I can afford to lose without feeling bad about it.
1487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We have been told: Invest only Extra money in bitcoin on: January 02, 2023, 07:38:25 AM
We have been told many times to invest only funds which you can afford to lose in bitcoins. But the question is that most of us do not have that extra funds to invest. So, what we do is we buy bitcoins from our savings, and from whatever money we get, we try to buy bitcoins. Middle class people do not have that EXTRA money WHICH THEY CAN"T AFFORD TO LOSE.

Yes, i invest in bitcoins but it is not EXTRA money and I am afraid I can't afford to lose. Do you have that EXTRA money that you can afford to lose  Huh

It's true that the middle class is hurting a lot last year with the rising living expenses due to an increase in energy prices and the double digit inflation rates. Sorry to hear that you have no money that you can afford to lose, I am in a similar position like you and but still save as much money as possible. The term "money we can afford to lose" is also a bit misleading when it comes to crypto currencies, because we are not actually losing the money. As long as we are not selling any of our coins we are not realising a loss and still have our money. The main difference is that when it comes to saving money we need to distinguish if we already have a fixed goal for that money. For example, if we need the money to buy a new car in a few years or renovate our apartment then we really can't afford to lose that money. But if we only save without a specific goal than we should be saving our money in more risky assets. The problem is that if we need our savings at fixed point in the future, than we are going to be forced to sell our crypto coins at that time no matter the price. And if the prices are much lower then we are going to make a big loss. The best is to split out our savings across all types of assets, so that we always have one position we could sell that is in the green.
1488  Economy / Economics / Re: Avoid running into financial ruin this Christmas! on: January 01, 2023, 03:30:04 PM
So while having a good time with friends, family and loved ones during this festive season, please remember that January, with all its bills is around the corner.

A very merry Christmas everyone!!!

Had the worst Christmas in 30 years last year. 2 days before Christmas I got covid and had to stay home alone over the holidays. My parents are already old and I didn't want to risk them getting infected. While the whole holidays were kind of sad and lonely, watching bad movies online and eating canned food, it also had some advantages. I didn't have to give any presents to my family and will probably now keep them for this year. Giving presents a few weeks after Christmas seems wrong and like that I already have all the birthday presents for a whole tear. The second good thing is that I didn't gain any weight over Christmas, had almost no food at home and no sweets or biscuits. So financially this was a very good Christmas and I am not so worried about the bills coming in now.
1489  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are your takes on revenge gambling? on: January 01, 2023, 03:10:03 PM

These two are the major reasons people indulge in revenge gambling and my questions are
~ What are your thoughts on revenge gambling?
~ what other reasons would make some indulge in revenge gambling?
~ What are the measures to help combat revenge gambling?

Please lets discuss

Revenge gambling is a serious problem in my opinion and can lead to large financial losses if we can't adjust our behaviour. I know this from own experiences very well as I struggled for several years from revenge gambling. When I first started out with gambling 18 I always a fixed budget when visiting a casino. I never had a bank card with me and only used the cash in my pockets for gambling. To problem came when facing a loss streak, and after losing 70% of my bankroll for the night I got into "I don't care about anything" mentality. It was also my brain telling me that is now my turn to win. I ended up betting my remain budget on a single bet and would lose most of the time. So the last 1-2 hours at night I could only watch my friends gamble as I already blew through my budget. It took me several years to get rid of that behaviour. In my case it never let to me recover my losses and I would only lose more money.
1490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers that don't understand basic gambling concepts. on: January 01, 2023, 08:57:55 AM
For some time now I have seen in this section of the forum a not small percentage of gamblers who do not understand basic statistical concepts of mathematics applied to gambling, such as Return to Player or Expected Value. As a result, it is not surprising that every now and then we see someone who thinks he has found a good system to win casino games by applying some variant of the Martingale. This is despite the fact that these are not complicated concepts and the information is easily accessible to everyone, it is not like 30 years ago. I would say that at least 25% of the people who write in this section fall into this category.

Do you have the same perception as me?

I am not sure if the category of people who are struggling with the mathematics behind gambling is really 25%, I would expect it to be lower than that. But you are definitely true that some people have problems understanding the statistics behind it. Among my friends I know this phenomena well, a good friend of mine has only one strategy when it comes to Roulette. He observes the last 10 rolls and only bets when there is at least 5-6 times red or black in a row. Even though I am telling him every time that there are no trends in gambling, and that each new round is completely independent he doesn't believe me. For him it's clear that after 6 times in a row black it has to come red now. It's hard to change the ways of people and we shouldn't judge them too hard for it. If you think back in high school there where always students who hated maths and had problems understanding it.
1491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 01, 2023, 08:45:58 AM
It's all around Ronaldo. It also seemed to be somewhat in line with expectations, but he has definitely opted for an evening hour in the sandbank. He will also have to deal with playing in front of empty stadiums. He has therefore clearly opted for the big money, sporting ambitions are apparently no longer there. You still have the Arab/African Champions League. Maybe he wants to win it again with a team. There were also few teams that had the financial means to pay Ronaldo, referring to the salary he asks for. I would have preferred to see him at a European top club. Isn't it suddenly very different for his family to settle there in an Eastern environment.

For 200 million this was a pretty easy decision for Ronaldo to switch to Al-Nassr, even though he said in the past that he wants to retire in Europe and not in USA or the Middle East. With such kind of salary for one year only he must be feeling validated and they are going to treat him as a King over there. Just yesterday I heard an interest opinion that this is a more complex deal by the Saudis and Ronaldo is not going to play long for Al-Nassr. The Saudi royal family owns Newcastle United F.C. through their Public Investment Fund and could make a deal between their two own football clubs. The plan would be now to be lending Ronaldo from Al-Nassr to Newcastle without charge to get around the regulation for UEFA clubs in UK. The Saudi family can easily afford to pay such kind of salaries and for them it doesn't matter out of which football team the money comes. I am wondering now if there is already a chance to bet on Ronaldo to be playing for Newcastle soon.

1493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important is fiat to Bitcoin? on: December 31, 2022, 09:39:32 AM
can Bitcoin be easily used and spent without Fiat?
My answer is No

What's your opinion?
Let's discuss

It's true that bitcoins are not ready to be the main form payment yet. In many cases we still need the exchange of Bitcoins into fiat before we can use them. There are only a few countries that have accepted bitcoin as a legal tender yet. And as long as most countries will hold on to their fiat money nothing is going to change. I receive my salary in Euros, all my monthly expenses I have to pay in Euros, taxes are also required to be paid Euros. If I would like to switch to a crypto currency only life it wouldn't really be working. There still needs to be exchanges between fiat and crypto on a regular basis. Maybe once more countries accept bitcoins as a legal tender this is going to be different. One positive note is that many online stores today are accepting bitcoin as a form of payment.
1494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino bonus is it worth it? on: December 31, 2022, 09:16:33 AM
It's all worth it as long as you have used a lower bankroll compared to a bonus. But if you are going to exchange a bigger bankroll just to chase a bonus lower than your balanced, aren't you a little bit silly? Just try harder to chase those green instead and you will achieve one or a few of the requirements without realizing it. Not all but some of those bonuses are meant for HR so just go with your play and don't focus much on bonuses.

That is another important aspect we should not forget, a bonus is only helpful if it fits into our usual gambling habits. In general I like to take advantage of as many bonuses as possible. If something is free why not use it for our advantage. But you are right that a big bonus could lead us to gamble above our means and to spend too much money in an effort to try and unlock the bonus. We need to be realistic when it comes to bonuses, some are only meant for high rollers and we won't be able to use them. The risk of chasing a bonus that is above our means is that we lose our whole bankroll in the process. That's why I am such a big fan from free spins. You get them mostly random while gambling and never really focus on them in the first place. It's a nice addition during a gambling evening but it's never my focus to only gamble for that bonus.
1495  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tutored or you learned how to trade? on: December 31, 2022, 08:41:17 AM
How about you people that had a tutor, were you able to be taught in a way you do not lose in the beginning? I only started to make profit some months ago and till now though, but I lost for almost 2 to 3 years. Maybe tutoring can help to avoid losses?

I learned trading from reading books. Back in the days there weren't so many articles online about money management and how to trade, same goes for all the youtube videos you can find online now. When learning something new today my first step is always youtube and see if someone made a video about it. It is something completely different to see someone doing actually while explaining it, rather than only reading about it in a book. When I was 15-16 I got my first book from a big stock trader from 1980/90s as a birthday gift. I loved the book and read it pretty quickly, after that I got hooked on the whole topic of investing and trading and looked for more books. In my last year of high school we had a trading simulation by one of the big banks in my hometown. For 3 months we could buy all types of stocks and options in their system and the students with the highest return would get a price. This was a pretty good learning experience as it showed me how the whole banking system was working and that there were a lot of more assets to invest in that ordinary stocks. Futures and Options can make much higher returns and are a great tool if you only have limited capital to make a big bet. I would recommend any beginner to try and participate in these trading simulations, they are free and you can learn a lot.
1496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling For Fun - What Does This Mean To You? on: December 31, 2022, 08:24:39 AM
So over to you now, what does gambling for fun mean to you as a gambler,? As I know that this phrase might mean different things for different people, would like to know what your understanding is on this.

Gambling for fun is the standard phrase I have been using when answering why I gamble so much. Since I am 18 I have been playing all types of casino games and get asked by friends and family from time to time, why I invest so much time and money into gambling. My answer is always the same, I gamble for fun. But like you said, gambling for fun doesn't mean that I am not interested in making a profit and become lucky one day to win a big jackpot. Placing wagers on a game makes the game much more realistic in my opinion and I need to be more focused as when playing other games that are free. My big passion are cards, I like all types of card games since I was a little kid. Especially Poker is my favourite game that I played for such a long time. Without the money side of money the game would be much less interesting and I wouldn't have played so much.
1497  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive Income? New Start-Up Would Pay you to Share Personal Data on: December 31, 2022, 08:10:18 AM

Would you share personal your data to an ad company for a pay? The data will be used for advertising purposes where you can earn a cut of the revenue that the app generates from it. This data would include- what you buy or watch on your mobile device. For instance, a user could consent to sharing his ride-share history so advertisers could create segments of people who ride a certain amount. That would eventually pay consumers up to $50 a month. Can you do it? Could this be considered as a passive income?

Finally a company that wants to give something back to the users which have been giving away all their personal information for free over the last 10 years. It's a good idea in my opinion and I would consider signing up there when going back to social media. I never used Instagram, TikTok or any other of the new social media companies. My Facebook account I closed down long time ago as I am against all the personal information that is being collected and sold without me knowing about it. I mean if a company gets the rights to all the pictures that are being posted online something is wrong in my opinion. There are some nice documentaries about the whole business model behind Facebook and how they are able to influence what people read online. For me these big companies have too much power and don’t even pay the people which they generate their money from. This is a good step forward as consumers should be made aware of how much money company can extract from our personal information. So if our data is being collected and sold to different companies at least pay us for it.
1498  Economy / Gambling / Re: Researching for Upcoming Game on: December 30, 2022, 08:26:12 AM

- What are some current pain points in the crypto gaming/gambling space for players?
- What would you like to see?
- What makes one game fun to play -- more so than other competitors that have similar games (ex: why you enjoy playing crypto poker on X site rather than site A)?
- Who are some absolute Degens in the space?
- Aside from BitcoinTalk (this forum) where else do you get your news that you trust (which newsletters, sites, which Youtubers, any twitter accounts)?

Bitcointalk is the go to forum for me to check any gambling related news for the big online casinos. I trust the users here on the forum much more than any other review website on the internet. The forum is great to see how long people have been around and how their trust rating is, so when a Hero or Legendary users makes a claim against a casino, or gives a positive review than I am much more inclined to trust their word. There are so many different casino review sites online that it's hard to trust them freely.
As for new casino games I can only speak for myself, I would like to see more PvP games if that would be possible. Poker is my most favourite casino game, I enjoy playing no limit holdem Poker since I am 18, it's the best card game there is and everybody around the world knows the rules. What makes Poker so attractive for me is that there is no house edge, so you are not losing against the casino but rather only play against other gamblers. Luck still plays part in Poker to a certain extent, but we can influence it. And if we are losing at poker over a longer period of time it's our own fault and we need to adjust our strategy. Would be nice to see more card games on casinos that are being played against other gamblers directly.
1499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 29, 2022, 03:54:17 PM
What about you guys? Do you have any addiction to gambling? What drives you to gamble? Is it the long shot of having a big profit coming in or is gambling simply a way of spending time for you?

I really hope I am not addicted to gambling even though I visit a casino online almost every week. Gambling has been a big part of my life since I am 18, and the rise of online gambling only increased that. In terms of hours I spend gambling each month, I think that some people would label me as an addict. But I also know that I can stop gambling for two weeks without thinking about it. Just now I was in bed for a week with covid and didn't once think about gambling. To me it's important to have my life under control and have fixed limits on how much I can gamble. As long as I am in control I am not addicted. The main motivation for me in gambling is to have excited games I can play with the chance of making some money on the side. My biggest wish is to one day win a big jackpot.
1500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving: If not Bitcoin Wallet then House for Fiat. on: December 29, 2022, 01:08:15 PM
If you have enough Fiat currency I will advise you to keep it at home, if you don't want to invest in BTC because Banks will frustrate you by cutting your money every week, every month without even doing any transactions. The bank customers complains every day. We are tired of the complains.

Keep your Fiat at Home if not BTC

That is a very risky proposal and I would not recommend any friends or family to keep their money at home. Just last night did they break in the apartment above my parents and stole a lot of valuables it seems. The neighbors are on vacation over Christmas and came back home only to find their apartment being cleaned out. In my opinion the risk of breakins is too big to have large sums of money at home. Most homes are not designed to safeguard money, you would need to buy a safe where you could store money. But a good safe is expensive and needs to be installed properly, otherwise can criminals just steal the whole safe. That is why I would keep my fiat money at the bank, even if you don't trust the bank. There are a few steps that can help to protect our money at the bank. First of all, make sure it's a big bank with a lot of cusomters and there is no negative news about the bank. The second step would be to spread out your money across multiple banks. Depending on the amount of money you have, I would rather have 2-3 different banks than leaving all your money with one bank. In my country the government guarantees savings accounts from the banks up until 100,000 Euros. So whenever you would get close to that barrier I would recommend to open a new account with a different bank to avoid having uninsured money.
