1501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bear Market on: April 12, 2023, 06:40:35 AM
A bear market can be a frustrating time for bitcoin entrepreneurs mostly, but those who are able to adapt and navigate the market conditions can still be successful, meanwhile. A bear market can make it even more unpredictable, increased competition and lower profit margins for existing bitcoin entrepreneurs.
I think there're more problems facing bitcoin entrepreneur in a bear market that I don't even know about as a Newbie.
Why focus on the negative side of the bear market? You know who are the ones who are thinking that way? Newbies like you who don't fully understand the market. Well, you said that you're a newbie anyway, so I guess you need to do some research and educate yourself as well.

It's frustrating not only to Bitcoin entrepreneurs like you mention, but even for the investors who bought Bitcoin at it's peak or near to it. On the other hand, there are traders who are still profiting whether it is a bull or a bear market. Overall, there are some benefits of bear market still especially if you took the opportunity, and bought it at a lower price. Bear market being unpredictable? In what way?

Like you said, investors and entrepreneurs really need to adopt to how Bitcoin moves, so that they will be a successful one, and earn profits from either bull or bear market.
1502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why does Cardano get so much hate? on: April 12, 2023, 03:25:56 AM
Too much hype, low to no upgrade to the project.

I guess the fact that they are very slow in terms of making some upgrades to their projects is the reason why they are being hated, but TBH I can't feel the hate on the project... or it's just because I'm not following the project that much. Cheesy. Maybe another reason is that, they are saying that they are the "Ethereum Killer", but developing very slow, and like others said here, they are overhyping the project too much, but the progress is very slow.

Still, Cardano is one of the top tokens right now in terms of market cap, and it has been there for a very long time. It just shows that there's a huge community behind it. I'm currently holding, and staking Cardano for almost a year already, and it's always good to earn coins just by doing nothing though I'm thinking of selling it already, and purchase Ethereum.
1503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 12, 2023, 02:57:58 AM
DeMarcus Cousins came out and said that he believes he is the third best center in the league right now. That’s a little crazy when you think about how few games he’s played the last 5 years. No doubt he’s a beast and probably deserves a chance. There must be something keeping him from being signed though and I think it’s his attitude not any blackballing.
He is one of the best centers in the league in his prime, and even when after he got injured, he is still putting good numbers even though he is only a bench player unlike when he was in Sacramento and New Orleans.

He deserves a chance, but nobody wants to put a risk on a player who is injury-prone, and has a bad attitude. We know how bad the attitude of Cousins is when he played in the NBA, and add the fact that he is injury prone already. I guess if I'm the GM, I will not sign that player. The good thing though is that, he will be playing in Puerto Rico in one of the teams there which is a good thing. I just hope that his attitude will change there, and play better, so that NBA scouts will look at him again, and who knows. He might return to the NBA a few years from now.
1504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: April 12, 2023, 12:09:07 AM
It's been a long time since I put my bets Cheesy. Anyway, here are my bet's for these 2 play-in games.

Miami Heat - Atlanta Hawks - Miami Heat
- I think that the Heat will retain that 7th spot. Currently, they are down by 9 points, but it's too early to say that they lost already. Anyway, I still believe in Playoff Butler where he shines the most, and let's not forget Bam, and Herro.

Los Angeles Lakers - Minnesota Timberwolves - Los Angeles Lakers (-8.5)
- The odds of the Lakers winning the game isn't that attractive anymore because many expects the outcome already, so I put my bet on Handicap, and I think that they'll cover that one, and retain that 7th seed.

Good luck to us bettors. Smiley
1505  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest your money wisely - another lesson, Techie tries to suicide. on: April 11, 2023, 11:07:28 AM
I wonder how did he lose that much money. I mean in what way.
1. Did he got attracted and fell into these typical investment scams that are promising very high return in just a short amount of time.
2. Did he invest all of that money into some new projects out there or a low-market cap coin.
3. Did he trade, and lost eventually.

P.S. Well, thanks to @Poker Player for clarifying because as I'm posting this, I saw his post, and I saw that the guy lost his money into gambling, and he even tricked his mother. This just shows how ridiculous a person can think when it comes to gambling to the point that he will fool anybody, and even your family member.

Just save up your bitcoins in cold storage, only buy what you can afford to lose and most importantly don't fall for the traps of crypto space.
Bitcoin is the only savior in crypto and if you own the keys, you win the market.

I would agree except on the part that Bitcoin is the savior of crypto. Cheesy

Savior of crypto? Like Bitcoin is "God"? I mean come on. Many people are using different words with Bitcoin that isn't related at all. Bitcoin can't save you in crypto? What if the bear market happens? Will Bitcoin prevent you from getting your money lost? Will Bitcoin save you if all those altcoins go down? Bitcoin isn't the savior whatsoever. Bitcoin is just an investment, an asset, and a currency that's all.
1506  Economy / Economics / Re: Quit borrowing on: April 11, 2023, 07:40:59 AM
Quit Borrowing? Why should I quit borrowing money.
Robert Kiyosaki is using debt to earn more money. More businessmen are borrowing money on the banks so that they don't pay taxes. Why should I quit borrowing money if I know that I can earn from the money that I borrow.

After all, it all comes to where will you use the money that you borrowed. We know that there are 2 types of debt which is good, and bad. Good debt is what businessmen like Kiyosaki are doing. They are borrowing money to earn more money thru their business. On the other hand, bad debt is a type of debt where you will use that money to buy something that you just want, and it will not generate any income for you as the borrower.

There's nothing wrong in borrowing money because I'm also borrowing money just to have money to invest. I can pay it monthly so there's no problem for me. Borrowing money to invest is a good thing while borrowing money to buy things you want is a bad thing. Don't say to us that we need to "Quit Borrowing" because it all depends on the use-case of that money.

Re: Can you consider yourself as a risk taker if you buy bitcoin?
If you already bought an asset, you are considered as a risk taker already because you are taking the risk of a potential loss.

It all comes down to how risky an investment or an asset maybe. Bonds is an asset with the lowest risk. Stocks has more risks than Bonds, but lesser than crypto, and speaking of crypto, it is for me the most riskiest investment currently. As long as you invested into something that can't give you guaranteed returns then I guess it is considered a risky investment. Whether it will be precious metals, or things you got from an auction, or an NFT whatever, as long as it's an asset, you are already taking risk because you don't know if you will get profit or loss from it. I forgot that business is also added because you are risking your capital into building one.

Well, I already bought Bitcoin years ago, so I guess I can consider myself as a risk taker already.
1508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 11, 2023, 06:53:48 AM
Suns picked Clippers instead of Warriors. They could've won the game if they wanted to, but lost to Clippers and became play-off first round opponents. This is pretty logical as they avoid the last champion. Paul George's return is still unknown.
Just imagine if the Warriors are the ones that the Suns are facing. Cheesy

The defending champions Vs. the supposed champions of this season because they are at the top in sportsbooks to win the championship when they got KD. What will Durant feel if he got beaten by the team he left because he wants to be the main man on the team? Cheesy PG13 will not return at least in the first games of the Suns-Clippers, but I hope he will be just ok. The roster of the Clippers are very deep. They got shooters, defenders, reliable big, all-star player, reliable role player etc. but I just don't know if they can defeat the Suns with or without PG13.

Lakers won but it wasn't enough for 6th place. They need to pass play-in rounds now. Pelicans is also in form but Lakers wouldn't make mistakes here.
I think they have a huge chance that they will retain that 7th spot, and will face the Grizzlies in the first round. After what happened to the Wolves in their last game, and add also the injuries from McDaniels who is their elite defender, and Naz Reid who can stretch the defense of other teams, I don't know if the Wolves can defeat them, but who knows. We might see an upset coming from Towns and Edwards. Cheesy
1509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if they tried it on: April 11, 2023, 03:25:20 AM
How will they do it? I mean I'm thinking of possible ways for them to seize our Bitcoins, but I can't think of any.

This is also the reason why many people here doesn't recommend storing your Bitcoins into some centralized exchanges because the government can just file a lawsuit against them, and then when they become successful, they will seize the Bitcoins like what they did to Chipmixer.

How realistic is this to happen? I don't think it will happen, but they are capable of doing it just by passing some laws. Overall, this is the reason why I always wanted to put it on a wallet that I have a full control of it. I think it's a good thing that there are countries that aren't doing this kind of thing. I mean there are some countries out there who are either crypto-friendly, or just a neutral, doesn't say anything with regards to crypto, and just letting their people use it.
1510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - June 17 on: April 11, 2023, 02:18:39 AM
Is this final and official though? And they have a date already but no official announcement? and they want to tell the public and  claimed the official announcement is expected at Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia on April 22nd?

I still one of those who still wanted to see this fight despite the initial negotiation ended up dead and all fingers are being pointed to the camp of Crawford as the one who stalled the fight and he has pictured to be ducking Crawford. So if it happens then mad respect for him to accept it.

Don't expect until it was clear in the sky that everything is official.

Although lots of sport news website gives buzz on that news, to avoid being frustrated, we just have to wait for the official announcement. I'm looking that this fight will now happened as people are too sick on these expected fight but will fail at the end.

Intense announcement! let's wait.
This is also what I'm waiting. The official announcement.

Like you, I've also seen numerous articles regarding the fight. Some are doing a bit of a clickbait-y one saying that it's done, but if you will read the article, it says there that both parties are still in talks. Well, if this match will be happening, I guess boxing fans will be the happiest fans this year. Cheesy

I mean Tank Vs. Davis, and Spence JR. Vs. Crawford, and I expect more in the future for some popular boxers. That 2 fights alone might be a candidate for battle of the year.

Save the date, April 22, that's the ETA for the official announcement of this fight.
Will wait, but will not expect too much from it, so that it will not be that hurtful just incase it will not happen. Cheesy
1511  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin can do 30k$ this month? on: April 11, 2023, 02:08:10 AM
Well, it's a surprise for me that it reached the $30,000 just today.

I mean it wasn't really a surprise, but to see Bitcoin surpassing that price after moving sideways for almost a week made me surprised. It seems like the bulls got the control already over the bears.
I guess congratulations to those who bought Bitcoin at a lower price. I see $30,000 as a psychological resistance, so I expect that after this unexpected price increase, the price will go down below $30,000 again. Just my speculations.

Anybody who can share why this happened? Any news? Or it's just that investors bought and nothing more. Cheesy
1512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 11, 2023, 01:12:57 AM
Suns picked Clippers instead of Warriors. They could've won the game if they wanted to, but lost to Clippers and became play-off first round opponents. This is pretty logical as they avoid the last champion. Paul George's return is still unknown.
Lakers won but it wasn't enough for 6th place. They need to pass play-in rounds now. Pelicans is also in form but Lakers wouldn't make mistakes here.

The good thing about the Lakers in their next game is they are complete and ready for the NBA playoffs, they just need to win this one in order to secure their spot and go against Memphis and I think that would be a hard match-up for them going against young guns and super fast and athletic team. Their advantage is their experience and when they can somehow get through that, then the rest will surely be easy.

With the Rudy Gobert nonsense in Minnesota it seems like that team will be an easy opponent for the now hot Lakers. I don’t think Memphis would be a problem either. The Lakers might’ve just lucked themselves into a pretty easy path towards round 2 of the playoffs in my opinion.

The Los Angeles Lakers facing the Minnesota Timberwolves is almost a no brainer because the latter almost got no depths at all and speaking of experience, they won't last against the enduring Lakers especially now that the Wolves roster is in a hot mess. But facing the Grizzlies on the 1st round? That sounds interesting because I'm sure that the Lakers will be tested how much they can endure as the Grizzlies is not an easy team to beat and they are just too unpredictable. That just shows how tight the West is.
Also, include the fact that the Wolves suspended Gobert for one game for what happened between him, and Anderson. I mean that game is against the Lakers, but anyway if they will lose to the them, they still have a chance to retain that 8th seed if they will win against the winner of 9th-10th seed.

Now assuming that the Lakers will face the Grizzlies as the 2-7 seed. It really sounds interesting, but I think that the Grizzlies will win on this one, but in 6-7 games, or at least they will be having a hard time defeating the Lakers. A young Grizzlies team against a veteran, and full of experience Lakers team. TBH, I'm rooting for the Grizzlies, but I still think that the Lakers has a chance knowing how they improved after the trade deadline. The problem with them is the inconsistency of their main players, and injuries since we know that LeBron and Davis are prone to injuries already. If both of them alongside other main players will play the whole series, I think they will have a chance, but I'll go with Grizzlies with this one.

I would love to see the Grizzlies advancing to the second round as well as the Warriors, so we will see an interesting match-up in the second round. Cheesy

~
I did read your long post, and I'm pretty sure that there are many here in our country who are experiencing the same as your uncle, or even worst.

You said that you uncle is doing okay though even with the economic downturn that we have face worldwide. I've seen some sailors (or in our term, seamen) here in our place that are now having a hard time because they didn't save any money when they are young. They've spent it on some things that they didn't need, and when they got old, they are now having a hard time. Just to share. My older brothers are sailors for decades as well, but the good thing for them is that, they know how to save money for their future. Unfortunately though, they are a bit hesitant, and a bit new when it comes to investing. I didn't follow them because I want to do something different from them.

If I will give some tips aside from what the OP has share which is "Always plan for the future", I think these are what I will say.

1. Invest. It's isn't that hard to invest right? If you are quite new, and you really wanted to invest, go invest into index funds. If you are more risky, go invest into stocks. Investing in assets, particularly those who are giving annual dividends (stock market) is the way to go. Imagine you build your base when you are young, and when you are old enough, and can't work anymore, you are getting annual dividends without doing anything. Imagine how much Warren Buffett is getting annually in his dividend stocks.

2. Save. The younger you start, the better it will be. Don't save for the sake of saving, but have a deep reason to save whether it will be for emergency funds, or you want to invest into something etc. Always save for the future.

Having a high income is useless if you don't know how to invest, and save. You will not work forever, so build a base when you are young. Invest. Save. These are the things that will help a person when got old.
1514  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for April on: April 10, 2023, 12:55:18 PM
Looking at the chart below, no brainer and pretty sure everybody is bullish when the month of March ended.  Now let's have a fun one...  I guess the question is how bullish are you right now after BTC broke above 25k, stayed above it and went on to go above 28k?

Next stop 30k - 32k range.  That's double the price of where it was during the lows of November.  Leeez gooo!
In this last week, we've seen Bitcoin moving sideways from around $27,500-$28,500. TBH, it is hard to predict what move will the price of Bitcoin will be in the next weeks. Yes we've seen Bitcoin moving up in the month of March which is quite exciting, but it seems like it's having a hard time surpassing that $30,000 psychological resistance.

In the past 14 days, it touched the $29,000 only "ONCE" and after that, it went down immediately. It didn't last long, and I know that most of the users here are very optimistic with regards to the price of Bitcoin because of what happened last month, but I have this doubt in my mind where maybe we might see some sellers selling their Bitcoin for this month. I don't know, but it's just what I feel. I'm still bullish on Bitcoin sure, but I expect a bit of downward movement still after this sideways movement.
1515  Economy / Economics / Re: Without government job we can survive on: April 10, 2023, 12:29:16 PM
Let us be realistic to ourselves, is good to extreme to wait for government to make provision of every in a country, sometimes when we graduate from higher colleges we expected government to create employment opportunities but in some points government keep adamant of making employment be visible and available to the mass,  on my instinct I said without government employment man can survive, I started a popcorn 🍿 business which I managed alone but right now have workers under me which I'm paying and now planning to establish another business.
Governments has a duty to help the people, but on the other hand, it's wrong to solely rely on the government in terms of our daily needs.
Yes we can survive still without the help of the government if we only know how to survive without them. The problem with most of the people is that, they are relying most of the time to the governments. There are people who are just waiting for the funds that the government will give to them.

Why expect for the government to create opportunities for you when you graduate? Are you that popular enough for them to help you? There are many graduates out there who doesn't have any job at all. In the past administration here in our country, they revised the education system years ago, and added 2 more years to study so that you can get a job after you graduate from secondary. Ending? Their plan failed, and now the families of the students are the ones who are suffering because of the additional fees that they need to pay in the school.

Point is, don't expect too much on the government. They will help you in any way possible, but don't rely on them and instead, focus on being a successful person without the help of them.
1516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 10, 2023, 10:14:38 AM
In other news, Rudy Gobert punched a teammate in a timeout today. I wonder what will happen now since they have their important game against the Lakers for the number 7 spot. In a normal situation he would be suspended for sure but now I’m not sure they will do it with such a big game coming up.

Yeah, here is the video of the scuffle,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrmi1D6qTvU

I don't know, it seems that everyone is frustrated in this game, and with Rudy's performance? emotions are going to run high, and everyone is going to point out fingers amongst this players. And he was sent home in the middle of the game and the management said that they are going to deal with this issues privately. So it might be the Rudy will get suspended, although it was also reported that Rudy already apologizes to the team in their group chat. And that as grown men, they should move on and then just think of the team. He will be very important against the Lakers in their play-in, so I speculate that he will still going to play.
One punch, and then back out. Cheesy
I don't know what's the root of that, but I'm just hoping that this will not affect their performance on the play-in tournament.

He apologized in the group chat? I guess it would be better if he will apologize in person with his team right? I mean you will feel if the person is sincere or not in that way. Well, like you said they have an important game against the Lakers. On the other hand, I'm looking at the injuries of the Wolves team, and there are some notable players that are currently injured. McDaniels which is their good defender is injured, and same as Naz Reid who is a reliable big and can shoot threes for the team. If they will suspend Gobert for one game, it will affect the whole team's performance as they will not have any rim protector at all aside from Towns.

Overall, this short scuffle must not let the morale of the team go down, or they might be having a hard time winning against the Lakers. Well, if they lose against the Lakers, they still have a chance if they will win against the winner of the Pelicans-Thunder.
1517  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin one day become the global reserve currency? on: April 10, 2023, 06:50:58 AM
If an asset will become a global reserve currency, I'd rather pick Gold or even silver than Bitcoin.

In short, there is little to no chance that an asset will be a global reserve currency. Government wants to control the printing of money, and that's why Nixon shock happened in 1971. Also the fact that it's volatile is another reason why Bitcoin isn't a suitable candidate for it to be a global reserve currency.

I feel that there are some people are thinking way too far especially with regards to Bitcoin. Bitcoin as a global reserve currency, Bitcoin to replace fiat etc. etc. but always think that Bitcoin is still exists for only 13 years, and to think like this? There's nothing wrong, but it's almost impossible for it to happen.

Maybe let's just be happy for the fact that Bitcoin right now is being accepted by different establishments, and businesses.
1518  Other / Meta / Re: What is the great mistake that you ever done in bitcointalk forum since you join on: April 10, 2023, 02:15:12 AM
None.
There might be some here who made some mistakes when they were a newbie, but I can't remember one, or I think I really didn't made one.

I don't think that joining bounties when I was a newbie was a mistake though because I learned still because of being active at that time. I joined bounties, but I'm slowly learning. I didn't make some shitposts like what other users are doing right now. I mean I can't think of anything.

Hmmm. Maybe I can consider my temporarily lost of my account as my mistake, but aside from that I didn't made any. I didn't get ban too in the past.
1519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 09, 2023, 03:17:28 PM
Expecting that TNT will bring everything here and will compete with high morale using the crowd's cheers for the opponents as a good boost to lift the spirit of winning the game.

All will depend on how both teams will perform later. The odd is close @1.78 for Gin kings and @1.96 for TNT.

The crowd is a big help indeed as this game is on the bag for Ginebra with them leading by 18 points with 8 minutes to go.

Though Gray having an off night as he shoots 1 out of 14 from the field but Malonzo is having a spectacular night helping Brownlee produce points for the Kings.

Cstand, the leading candidate for BPC is having his usual number with 14 points at the moment.

Like i said i would be rooting for the Katropa on game2, hope the bookies will still put them as the underdog.
If only Pogoy shot better, I think the TNT will win.
I'm not blaming him either because there really are times where a shooter will be having a bad night, and it's the same with him.

However, being like that for 2 straight games will be a disaster for them, and it's the PBA Finals already. They don't want Pogoy to play like that again, and I don't also think that Pogoy will play like that again in Game 2. As usual, the 2 imports fought each other very well. Brownlee with 31 points and 12 rebounds while Hollis-Jefferson got 30 points and 20 rebounds. Both imports played well. It's just that the Ginebra locals played better than those of TNT that's why they won.

Anyway, it's like a chess game where the losing team will make some adjustments for them not to lose 2 straight. TNT will bounce back (like always), so maybe betting on them would be a good choice. Cheesy

Most persons purchase  most items using Bitcoin transactions I am of the opinion of hodling instead of spending pls is that a positive mindset?
It depends on how you see Bitcoin.

Some see it as a currency where it's main purpose is to be used to pay for different transactions. On the other hand, some people see it as an asset where they will hold it until a certain amount of time, and will sell it when it reaches their target (like when it reaches the price or the time). Aside from these 2, there are also people who see it as both a currency, and an asset, and I'm one of them. I've been using Bitcoin to pay some of my online transactions for years already, but at the same time, I've been holding some Bitcoins for long term.

If you're opinion or you think that Bitcoin is a good coin to hold then there's nothing wrong. Is it a positive mindset? Yes it is I guess because you want to hold Bitcoin hoping that it will increase after 3-5 years or even more.
