Ad should be clean and simple. For any coin and service.

Style and taste are not at issue.

Hi here,

Trying to compile the new wallet which looks lovely but as usual I have errors (linux  Embarrassed). I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 and all my libs are good.

So "sudo qmake" runs well (though it couldn't find Sync.png because it was written sync.png) but "sudo make" stops at the very beginning with the following error :
Code:
cd /home/***/sync/src/leveldb && CC=gcc CXX=g++ make OPT="-fpermissive -fstack-protector-all --param ssp-buffer-size=1 -O2" libleveldb.a libmemenv.a
/bin/sh: 1: ./build_detect_platform: Permission denied

I have no technical knowledge in linux so I don't know what to do but I don't understand why I have a permission denied when I run the command with "sudo".

Thanks for the help Smiley
This is a very common mistake in github. It's also easy to fix, and then you will get two more errors. Here's how to fix all three.

from your sync git directory (Sync2 if default):
cd src/leveldb
sudo chmod +x build_detect_platform
cd ..
sudo mkdir obj
sudo mkdir obj/zerocoin

That will fix the makefile errors.

Good job getting staking back up and running folks (well in a test fork at least).  Any ETA on the official fork?

discussing when and where to put the fork in. Thunder is testing the release to make sure nothing important was missed. I think (don't hold me to it) that the first release will simply be a fix, with the new UI and such coming a bit later. But yes, on the test fork all appeared to work correctly and quickly. There may need to be some more tweaking down the road a bit once the staking is moving correctly, but it won't be major.

That being said, the fix is a hard fork and will be a mandatory upgrade. Thundertoe will have the details very soon.

Oh, no stake weight will be lost. Obviously, given the halted POS chain, we all lost some compounding, but no stake weight. Call it nature's method of inflation control Tongue

I am glad to hear that everything is getting into gear. It sounds like lots of hard work and testing went into this. Also I wouldn't call it "inflation control", maybe more like "postponing inflation".  There might be a bit of inflation lost due to the loss in compound, and those that panic sold away their coin age.  But once staking comes back on, there will be a week or so of harsh inflation that has been postponed, at least assuming everyone held on to their coins like they should have.

Yes I am happy for this as well.

I just want to make sure the code makes it to github, so it can be reviewed.  I am happy to Q/A it as well.

Good luck!

THX for code - but windows wallet not compiled?

Windows will be available. Tranz just wants to make sure the code can be reviewed. And Tranz? I talked to Thundertoe earlier today. He's putting it up on github. May be there by now, as that was several hours ago.

Yes, I tried the dsync pool and every time i connect the stratum server goes dead.  Not sure what is up with that at all.  But yes, knowing what the cause of that error is would be nice.  I have no issues with coins like BCX that are also POW/POS.

I'm unfortunately at the wrong machine, but when I'm not I'll post up the link for the stratum that is known to work. I have made a pool with this for testing and I did solve blocks.

The error is apparently unique to TEK. Hopefully it'll be solved in the upcoming revamped wallet. I doubt that it will be in the interim fix, unless I'm wrong about how far along the less important and more cool stuff is.
1525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin sha256 PoS/Pow 40%+ SuperStake in 30+ days on: August 20, 2014, 09:38:47 PM
Any idea if the new version will address the error 22 block decode issue with submitting blocks?  I think this is hurting the coin really bad right now with no one knowing what the cause of this is.  I talked with the stratum devs and they all say it is an issue with the wallet, not stratum.  So no real way to mine it using a stratum pool from what I can tell.  Those that are mining it are most likely mining direct to the wallet.

Thoughts?  Solutions?
There's a stratum that works. CryptoExpert. I'll get the link in a bit, but it's proven working. NOMP and the basic stratum do not.

I don't know if the dev's are working on this or not, but I'll pass the word. I had forgotten. I'm fairly sure the next release will be a stop-gap to take care of the immediate issue, but I know that a lot more is in the works.
1526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin sha256 PoS/Pow 40%+ SuperStake in 30+ days on: August 20, 2014, 06:28:57 PM
Glad to see that the new Tek wallet is in the works to fix the staking issue. Can't wait to have it.  A great coin, should of just stuck with it when I got my miner, prices got crazy high some weeks ago. Sure they will go back up there again hopefully. Glad to be mining Tek coin 24/7 Tongue

Got a quick question as I take my mining extremely serious and love to mine a coin with value and that gives interest is a bonus.

Do the coins have to be in the wallet and not be moved for a period of about 30-34 days to be staked. Eg. Because I am a miner I mine Tek exclusively do I have to wait for "staking day" to move the mined coins in or can I pay out coins from the pool to my wallet daily?

Just want to know so that I do the right thing for my coins from the get go.

Your help is appreciated.
Incoming transactions do not affect your staking weight. Each transaction is, by default, a separate block. If you use coin control techniques to combine to larger blocks, then you will destroy your stake weight for the affected blocks, but that's a manual process. If you have coin control enabled in your wallet, you can click on it under "send coins" and it will show you every block, the date it was created or last moved, and if it's past the 30 day period, it's current weight. You can use that to pick and choose which blocks to send from if you are sending coins out.

Again, incoming transactions do NOT affect staking weight. You're golden Cheesy
1527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zimstake (ZS) - PURE POS - No IPO / PreMine - SHA-256 on: August 20, 2014, 09:28:55 AM
What type of parameter are we to have members wise? How many? Roles for each person? If CG doesn't pop up we will eventually need a dev. Can someone get ahold of Siriuscrypto? Any time I try to msg him I'm ignored. He knows much if not all the behind the curtain development and CG's plan for further development. Perhaps he can assist or join us with the creation of the foundation.

Ok, it appears things got serious. It's what I wanted, but I am unprepared. I have some ideas, and I will detail them to you and the community over the next few days.

The problem I have right now is time. I work over the internet at the moment, and have been lurking here in between tasks or while waiting for things to compile. Details are unimportant, save that I have a fairly serious personal crisis to deal with at the moment. That should be stabilized in a few weeks, after which I should have more time for this venture. In the meantime, consider me a supporter, and I will do the best I can to advise, cajole, rouse the rabble, and spew out my insane version of wisdom.

I think this coin has a great deal of potential in the market that CG was aiming for. I do NOT want to be doing a "takeover", unless CG approves of such, but rather a separate venture that parallels his stated vision and hopefully stabilizes the coin. It's low price is not necessarily a terrible thing, given the low energy cost of minting.

What will drive the price upwards is not hype or adoption at exchanges, but mercantile success. Going forward, and this goes for any coin that is to last, we need merchant adoption.

Most of the people who see this aim for grandiose goals right out of the gate. That, frankly, is fantasy. Bitcoin is just now starting to get major merchants. So, instead of aiming for the stars, let's aim for next door. In this community are talented people. Let's try to tap that. If somebody out there has a piece of software they think is of value, put it up for sale for a zimstake denominated price. If you make music, sell tracks for zimstake. If you are a programmer, offer your services for zimstake. I could go on and on in this vein. Think about it. Small steps, in sufficient number, will drive bigger adoption and bigger steps. If anyone is looking to go mainstream tomorrow, you need to rethink your position. If that's your goal, unless you have concrete means of doing it, bow out. But if you have some little thing you can sell, or some small way to promote zimstake, even something as simple as a subscription newsletter, go for it.

As for specifics of forming a foundation, that is a project that by necessity must take a bit of time or it will go up in flames. I have a lot of experience as a manager, so I have some thoughts on what can be done. I'll get to details a bit later, and while I may be very spotty in the immediate future, I am willing to give this as much time as my life will allow. First is feeding and housing my family. I am nearly destitute, but I have a decent job that I enjoy. My luck has turned for the better, but I JUST turned that corner and have many obstacles to be overcome before I can devote a large amount of time to this. But I will contribute what I'm able. I think my best role would be as an advisor at this time, rather than any sort of management position within a foundation. That could change in the future, and hopefully will.

I have mine finally, how do you login to setup address etc? Unfortunately, no instructions or details supplied. Website needs a login too? Can someone from AMT drop me a note?

PM Opiem2 or ISAWHIM, both have gotten others up and running and been most helpful.

Rawdog you are the troll .. and the dumbass ... don't you see it?

Are you sure about this?  I think you are mistaken.

Well, you're definitely a troll, and sometimes an amusing one. Dumbass?... well, you get people to respond so I'll let y'all make your own conclusions.

So how do we get this shop turned around. Who do we nominate for the foundation?

I don't know how you'd organize it, for votes and such. But, on general principle, I nominate you.

Anyone care to second that?

I'll second, and in return nominate you, as you've been good at trying to keep the FUD at a minimum and such.

Thanks. Not sure what I can do on a steady basis, though. I'm willing to try.

anyone multipooling/mining @ http://multipoolmining.com in this thread? - didnt see alot of discussion of alt-pooling or alt coin pooling to sync here, just curious if folks are a part of this type of sync"ing" in this thread..

cheers
Have been for some time. Payout is variable, low now that the price is up, but no issues. Well, one, but I think it's on my end. My miner hits failover at least twice a week.

Just letting everyone know I will not be very active the next few days because I am having knee surgery tomorrow. There are still other members of the development team that will be around so post if you have any issues.

Best of luck and may you have an exceptionally skilled surgeon!

and i blame the liars and thieves and mouthy scamming trolls and their shell accounts around here.
You guys have slaughtered the confidence off the public.. i hope your proud of yourselves
and i will sit back and wait for you all to fumble over yourselves accepting responsibility for it  Roll Eyes

Thanks greedy scammers make more coins and more forum accounts idiots..

This assumes that the ultimate goal was not nefarious. I've been trying to alert everyone about the dilution attack for almost a year.

I believe that this is mostly an intentional and well designed plan to diminish Bitcoin. Due to the contagious nature of greed, it is also now self sustaining.

On Bittrex: "This market is in danger of de-listing due to low trade volume and lack of user interest. It may be removed on Aug 22nd unless the average daily trade volume for the last 7 days exceeds 0.1 BTC."

Again guys?
My entire holdings would not exceed .1 BTC. Seems a bit ridiculous for a relatively new coin. Richie should know better.

1538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Proof of Stake | 750% Annual | Coin-Swap & AllCoin on: August 19, 2014, 10:21:42 PM
My understanding is that 1000 is the maximum amount that a block can generate.
The 960k value is attained if each single block created in a day does generate the maximum 1000 HYP.
There are 960 blocks a day, each at 1000 HYP gives 960k HYP.
This is approximate, based on the average/target number of blocks found per day. You could get more than 960k in a day if you undershoot the block time.
If you reach the max subsidy, the chain will not stop for this, as it'll happen at the last block of the daily period you're considering, as the 959 previous blocks will have also yielded 1000 - just barely enough to hit 960k.

This is exactly right. It is a number that is specific to each block, but we can do the calculations based off of what would happen if every single block that staked hits the maximum subsidy and the 960 blocks/day target is also met.

Thanks, gentlemen. Now I understand the mechanism.

The bird is the word. I thought everybody knew that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZThquH5t0ow

Bad joke aside, with a coin named Techcoin, are there any techno music artists out there? That could be a method of getting some commerce going, getting your music heard, and gaining some Techcoin.
