1641  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Short Adresses , how to check it? on: December 14, 2022, 02:16:40 PM
Also walletexplorer.com, while I don't recommend it as a block explorer to use, it's good at finding addresses based on "firstbits".
For your bitcoin address it returns this:

It may worth mentioning that Team Principal are being "rotated" these days Grin
* Jost Capito leaves Williams
* Andreas Seidl goes from McLaren to Sauber (Alfa Romeo, future Audi), taking the place freed by Fred Vasseur
* McLaren promotes Andrea Stella as Team Principal

I don't know who will go to Williams, but I am not even be too surprised to see Mattia Binotto's name on the list of possible options Cheesy
1643  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving one third what you earn monthly is not that hard, isn't it ? on: December 14, 2022, 01:14:35 PM
If you are in twenties or early thirties and remain single, earn $3,000 after tax per month, you will probably save $1,000 if you, let's say, spend $500 to $800 on rental, a guest bedroom in a shared house/apartment, $500 on food, $50  on utilities, $150 on phone/internet bills, $400 on commuting costs or gas/maintainance if you have a used car, $200 on occasional entertainment or others. This $1,000 savings will allow you to invest or place a house down payment when time is ripe. Is this possible based on where you live ?

It depends a lot by where one lives. If I'd be earning $3k from salary (after tax), it would be wonderful. But I don't.
Also the expenses differ greatly from country to country.
So the math you've done, although nice, doesn't apply in most parts of the world.

So you managed to quote 2 users' posts and say nothing useful. This is pretty much the definition of spam.

That can be a huge emotional hit to the players. Mabey they’ll have things sorted out when Morocco makes it to the finals?  Wink

I've read some people's opinion telling that it could be a deal made by Platini made these days with Qatar officials in order to favor France, a small favor asked since he was one of the guys that made it possible to have World Cup in Qatar. And it makes sense, since the supporters can really make a difference.

I hope you're right and we'll see Morocco in the finals. That would be something! Cheesy
1647  Economy / Gambling / Re: 0.022 on Morocco lol on: December 14, 2022, 11:21:46 AM
The bad news of the day for the Morocco supporters is that Qatar doesn't allow (to land) the 7 flights scheduled for today by Morocco Airways, flights supposed to bring a new wave of supporters.
I hate to see politics interfere with the sports, but this is again the reality.
1648  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is storing sensitive data on blockchain a wise idea? on: December 14, 2022, 10:44:46 AM
Use case of  blockchain isnt about record but the ability to show an efficient way to transfer and received data in a much safer way and transparent one.

Actually blockchain is also good for storing data that's not supposed to ever get altered.
I don't know though if medical records indeed fall into category, I'd guess it's debatable. Some could say that medical history should not change, some could say that people change and the old data may no longer be relevant (although it could be, for example for detecting old/older malpraxis).

What if quantum computers

I find a big silly all the "what if quantum computers" topics, sorry. Let's focus on what we can do and ignore QC, since when we will get to the "what if" cases, your small use cases will be the world smallest problem and your blockchain will have time to be re-built in a QC-resistant way or changed to something QC cannot touch. That's to be seen when there will be the case.

Stick 1.exe up your ass and it will definitely work.  Smiley

I've reported the initial post in order to get edited and the link removed.
Could you please also edit your post and remove the link from the quote?
1650  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Embarrassing First Bitcoin Lecture Attempt with my Colleagues on: December 14, 2022, 09:54:08 AM
When I was giving the floor to speak, I literally froze because

This is not about bitcoin, nor about your colleague's lack of enthusiasm. It's more about the fear of speaking to a larger public.

Some get over that easier, some harder and I don't have a good advice for it. Maybe just break the ice and try to present something (even something else) to a bigger public, to try to get over the natural fear of being not listened or even being mocked in public.

From what I know, one basic rule to start without really looking at them. Focus on your thoughts, not their faces. After the topic gets some traction and you have a clear idea what to tell next, you can move on to their faces too if you want to, but don't have too high expectations.
1651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why every casino got bad habits? on: December 14, 2022, 09:42:06 AM
Imho every post praising a casino/business and every post calling a business to be scam, all have to be taken with a grain of salt.
True indeed but you know there are other part of the story too. In many cases, we have seen casino takes the advantage all the time; even some big/reputed names will be there if we list them (I don't want to name them here). Can't they solve all these accusations/problems in a better way? Imagine, someone have written a scam accusation here. Casinos try to solve that issue but there are gamblers who don't have idea how to deal with such issues. Do casinos ever care for them? No.

I'm not sure what you expect for solving the accusations in a better way. Many of those trying to abuse the system or the bonuses will not admit that and cry they are scammed. Should the casino ask every day "do you remember our ToS? did you read it?"  Cheesy

About the gamblers having no idea on how to handle various situations I am not sure what you mean. If it's bitcoin/transaction related, it's probably the bitcoin community who can/will help, not the casino (when your card is not working you probably have to call the bank, not the shop). If it's casino related is in most cases broken rules.

Of course, I taken now into account the cases the casino wants to play fair, which clearly it's not always the case. For that, other solution than avoiding/boycotting the casino plus filling well-documented scam accusation I don't know what one can do. Of course, if it's big amount, the law enforcement agencies are also an option.

But about "do casinos ever care for them" it's debatable. Does each shop have nice staff and help you out? No. Some few do, most don't. I guess that it's pretty much similar with the casinos.
1652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why still keep the money on phone? on: December 13, 2022, 07:29:29 PM
Hackers usually target huge amounts of bitcoins

Actually no. Oceans are made of droplets. It's easier to make a malicious Android wallet, for example, or send phishing mails, or make a clipboard malware and steal whatever you find than target the rich.
Or you think the hacker will say "oh, I've hacked this one, but it's only 10$, I'll leave it"?

Windows is also very unsafe and people keep their bitcoin there too. Sometimes even on pirated Windows and/or pirated antivirus.
On the other hand... there are wallets on Android that work with hardware wallets. I think that it's one valid option.
1653  Economy / Economics / Re: A breakthrough in thermonuclear fusion technology! End of the era of hydrocarbon on: December 13, 2022, 05:47:48 PM
I've read the news earlier today and they are great!
However, it is said that a realistic time frame for implementing this for real use is somewhere at 15-30 years.
Even more, the price of such a facility would be enormous.

So.. we'll need a little more patience...
Still, it's a great step forward, I won't deny that. We're finally on the right track.
1654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why every casino got bad habits? on: December 13, 2022, 05:12:56 PM
If you have a look at the scam accusation section, you will find that no casino has a good reputation there. Each and every casino which has their ANN thread here, has at least one complaint against them; sometimes confiscated funds, delayed withdrawal, not paying the winning, freezing account etc. Why this is the principal of all the casinos? Why they can't operate without having any issues? They always do this shit; who knows what has been done with people who don't know how to deal with such a casino. Can you show me a thread that never had any reputation issues on this forum?

Imho every post praising a casino/business and every post calling a business to be scam, all have to be taken with a grain of salt.

Various crypto casinos did/do offer faucet or various bonuses. Some tend to abuse that money. Some use multi-accounts or other tricks attempting to cheat. When caught they call the casino scammer.
Sometimes bugs happen in casino software, leading to friction and, again, calls for scam.
And sometimes the casinos do try to scam.

A special mention is the KYC rules, some users hide behind VPN trying to avoid the rules, some casinos hide behind KYC rules trying to milk some easy money.

As I said, both parts have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Nobody is perfect, but also there are some good casinos too around here.
1655  Economy / Gambling / Re: 0.025 on Morocco lol on: December 13, 2022, 11:31:59 AM
I, however, feel that Morocco beating Portugal is a massive deal in this situation, and the energy they must have after that could very well be enough to make their way to the final match.

I find very hard to believe Morocco's miracle will go on also with the game with France.
And it's not that France is a strong team, it's also that France looks now pretty much like the team to win the current world cup.

However, the ball is round and surprises can still happen. Good luck with your bet, if you indeed placed it.

Hi I am a newbie here.  Looking for someone to lend me 0.044BTC.

I have no collateral.

Newbie with red trust asks for no collateral loan.
Sounds like asking for a "donation". And begging is not allowed, you know...

Just as a warning, be careful, it's not only the very low wage OP is offering, the fact that in his past offers his Telegram id is always different can be seen a shady or a red signal.
I hope I'm wrong and everything goes nicely though.
1658  Economy / Economics / Re: This could be the biggest news in 2022 on: December 13, 2022, 08:11:01 AM
Crypto holding company by the name of Bitcoin Group are on the move to buy the world oldest bank for approximately 15 million dollars .

With the recession knocking at our doors, it's not unusual to see banks that don't do great, especially as the banking system is known to be slow in adapting to changes (including adapting to Bitcoin).
And if it costed only 15 million, I'd guess it's a very small bank.

I don't think that Bitcoin Group went after the history of the bank, although salvaging a name that old is a nice gesture after all, I think that they went after the banking licenses.
However, I don't deny it, bitcoiners buying a bank is a news I do like (even if it's not really in the spirit of Satoshi's white paper, but maybe we'll get there too someday...)
1659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SBF, arrested! on: December 13, 2022, 08:06:17 AM
FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried arrested in the Bahamas after U.S. files criminal charges

Oh poor soul, and in his greatness he even said lately he will start another business to pay back the missing funds... How injust are these bad people... (/s)

Actually I wonder why SBF got arrested? is there any rule he broke? but I can't find any laws that he broke.

Well, I don't know in what country you live in, but stealing tends to be illegal everywhere.
(Of course, you can look for DaveF post for more exact legal terms for it).

Today I became overjoyed to find out that SBF was arrested by Bahamian Authorities and that the United States Government was going to charge him with the serious crimes of money laundering, wire fraud, and securities fraud.
I think its strange that he was arrested the day before he was going to testify today and tomorrow. The timing for him to be arrested seems fishy if you ask me.  I have also read that SBF and FTX's inner circle had a secret group chat on the Signal app called 'Wirefraud'. The plot thickens in this turn of events.

The authorities usually tend to obstruct one another, on purpose or by mistake. It doesn't even have to be yet another conspiracy theory for this...
1660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel prize for Satoshi. on: December 12, 2022, 07:55:13 PM
Can you describe in what way satoshi did an enormous contribution to society? Because I believe, the days of bitcoin are not yet there but the contribution will be enormous if governments stat to push for cashless banking systems.

His invention has a great potential to end the era of money created out of thin air and its value reduced constantly due to political decisions.
His invention has a great potential to move the banks out of their comfort zone, rethinking their services to be cheaper and better for people.
His invention has a great potential to get a good use to some of the resources that used to be wasted (and although it's not discussed much, that waste does/did contribute to green house effect).
And, let's not discuss only about money: his invention has a great potential to help you know where your clothes (or, more important, your medicines) were produced.
