On my mac new mandatory update 1.0.3 works fine. If you note that 1.0.3 does not synchronize you are probably still on wrong fork due to a bad "blk0001.dat" file

1) close 1.0.3
2) make a backup of the file ~/Library/Application Support/Sync/wallet.dat
3) delete everything from   ~/Library/Application Support/Sync/   except "wallet.dat" and "Sync.conf" (if Sync.conf is not present, create it)
4) check that "Sync.conf" contains only these official nodes:
addnode=107.170.51.29
addnode=107.170.206.182
addnode=192.241.244.198
5) download bootstrap.dat from https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80376827/bootstrap.dat  and place it inside  ~/Library/Application Support/Sync/
6) open 1.0.3 and wait that bootstrap loads (be patient: it took on my mac at least 30 minutes)
7) as soon as bootstrap import ends, your wallet will synchronize fine

done all this yesterday and again this morning. Works exactly as you described, but the result is still negative. Two of Mined are 'Generated but not accepted Mined'.
v1.0.2 can see Mined and Received coins above them. If the last Received coins would be the wrong fork that would be understandable. But the Mined are credited over 12hrs earlier.

Is there way to fix 'blk0001.dat'? It would be a pity to give up now.
Let's imagine, tomorrow Sync is $10k and next wallet update will conflict couple of Syncs; that will bother a lot! Why Sync wallet is a puzzle? I have no assurance in it now. Take the Dogecoin walet, no puzzles and updates are easy peasy.

How many times must it be said? STOP USING 1.0.2!!!! It is the WRONG FORK!!! That means it is a fantasy world that has no basis in reality. Anything you think you earned there AFTER block 86400 DOES NOT COUNT. Stay on the right chain.

I'm seeing some confusion here. If I read this correctly, he was using 1.02 as a reference, showing a different balance before upgrading.

Still, It is likely the blocks were produced after the fork, so first off VERYIFY that. If it staked after the update on the wrong chain, well, you wasted some electricity. Not a huge deal, but I understand the annoyance.

However, if you are certain that you have transactions not confirming after the update that are BEFORE block 86400, you have some things to do.

First off, forget blk0001.dat. It's just a piece of the blockchain. It don't matter to recovering your coins. There is one file that you should be concerned with, and another you need. The first is wallet.dat THAT is the one that contains your private keys, and therefore access to every transaction you've made on the blockchain. The other is the configuration file. Get rid of everything else in your data directory and resync.

If that still don't work, use the dumpwallet command to export your wallet to a text file. Reimport it into a new wallet, and all will be well.

Everyone receiving their end of month stakes. Expect dumps for the next few weeks...

As for me, I never dump. I buy them. I sell small amounts. I want the value of this coin to increase.

Next few weeks? lol its been dumping for a few weeks so does it ever stop? In all seriousness though it would not take a lot of buy pressure to go right back up near 100k...just depends on how anxious people are to dump for quick profits...

SHHH! I need about another two weeks of dumpers to get to my current goal  Grin

updated wallet and lost  .02  SYNC  i dont know what happened

what do you do ? normally its NOT possible that you lose something by updating

the only Thing is that you have staked on the old blockchain behind block 86400 - but .02 staking then you are a whale

show your wallet please

edited: it could not be stake - its too much

so what have you done ?

we were on a fork.

Now after mandatory wallet update everything is fine --> Windows: https://mega.co.nz/#!NhFh1YYb!dzynF480lycoTkZMex-Lw1kj00WVPzpOovh_Fa3xiMc

If having still problems after update, use this bootstrap file, it is on right blockchain
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80376827/bootstrap.dat

importing bootstrap data will take a while (some minutes, be patient)

Besides, use these official nodes in Sync.conf
addnode=107.170.51.29
addnode=107.170.206.182
addnode=192.241.244.198

I have issues with the wallet anyway.
if updated to v1.0.3 then it has two Mined Status: conflicted, Debit: 0.00, Net amount: -0.02994215 and -0.0008487. (re-sync - problem is still there), (use of a bootstrap.dat = to complete disaster; the wallet can see the last Received Sync only, after bootstrap).
Btw, the first, out of three Mined, synchronized OK!

If I run v.1.0.2 it has confirmations and Mined are in Credit: +0.00025043 and +0.00000715. But the wallet doesn't synchronize anymore.

'Transaction IDs' are match in both of the cases.
Any ideas?

PS.
Please, SYNC, fix the wallet finally? It takes so much time to find a magical solution for it. It's a headache.

odd. I've had NO problems since just after the end of PoW phase, except for a corrupted wallet, and that was probably from me dicking around with Windows. Got that fixed, have since updated twice, no problems that didn't resolve themselves.

It seems the wallet just don't like some computers. It gave me headaches on my old windows machine, but not one on Linux or on my other windows machine.
1704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [FIRE] FireCoin 2.0+ 97K + PoS 1% + Contest FREE Fury Miner or .1BTC on: July 29, 2014, 02:32:41 AM
I am announcing a raffle/contest for a Fury ASIC miner from GAW miners. http://www.gawminers.com/products/1-3-mh-s-the-fury-by-gaw-miners-asic-scrypt-miner-same-day-shipping-1/

The way I am going to run this is you will have to buy an entry by sending Firecoin to the Donation address and then post your tx id here in the thread. At midnight UTC on Aug 1 I will draw a tx id and will pm the user for shipping info. I will also announce the user name in the thread of the winner. If this is successful I will keep increasing the prize of future contests. I would like to make this a weekly drawing. We are working to get this automated on the website but wanted to try one now with just the basics.

If you do not want the Fury you can elect .1BTC payment.

Cost of entries
1 entry equals 10 Fire
12 entries equal 100 Fire

Please only send in increments of 10 or 100. ie: 20 30 400 not 25. I will not add up if you send 25 and 25 and say but i had 50 fire I should have 5 entries. If you send this it will be 4 entries (25=2 entries)

Note this is going into the donation fund not my personal account but I will move donations as I see fit to best serve this coin. Biggest thing will be better prizes and marketing. I hope to get up to where I am giving a Ipad or a large miner with thousands of dollars. Future prizes will be purely based off the success of past contests.

Slick!

You just valued firecoin at 5X bitcoin for your contest. If you didn't intend that, you should have. Well played!

I got something to say to those calling for deletions.

don't do it. Yeah, it's a cluttered up mess, and yeah, a great deal of it is pure FUD with no basis. But deletions make it look as if you have something to hide. If nothing else, from the beginnning this coin has been pretty transparent, Hippie Tech's ravings to the contrary. If we start down the path of censorship, we lose out, ultimately.

Not all who are concerned are trolls. And not all who have concerns are particularly articulate. It is good that you rise to the defense of your community. It is not so good to be condescending about it. I'm a sarcastic son of a bitch, and I understand the motivation. It's EASY to lash out at those who appear to be idiots and agent provocateurs. Problem is, in the first case you can't cure stupid, but they might just not be very articulate, and in the second, lashing out at them vindicates them and achieves their objective.

I remain fairly neutral. I'm invested in the coin, but if I lost my whole holdings right this second, it would only irritate me. I dislike the personal attacks, both ways. I was once privy to a rather cool insight in debate. Luckily I was not on the receiving end of the comment. It goes as follows:

"Ah, yes, the ad-hominem attack. The first resort of the ignorant and the last of the defeated".

This forum is a bigger waste of time and joke then BA's actual forum. You have a "RATING" system that seems to be very much corrupted and open to influence on this site and you try and control the topics by deleting post that seem to go against what you want lol thats not moderating . This place is virtually useless for a consumer trying to get information or gauge a company to make a purchase now i see why BA was able to pull this crap off for so long . BTC is being derailed by morons allowing thieves and crooks into the hen house for there own gain . Really answered alot of my questions when I see post deleted from multiple posters if you have an issue with the truth then lock the damn forum and be like Hitler and tell your side only. 2014 and we still have BS like this going on no wonder the world is still so F'd up.

56K, you don't understand how this is working. This thread is a user moderated thread. The person who started the thread controls it. Posting here is mostly worthless. Post in a thread not started by BA.

And how does that explain the "RATING SYSTEM" which is not part of this thread ? I understand what your saying but do you understand my point If the forum is not making Dogie and BA tow the line its as useless as this thread.

Dogie has nothing to do with Blackarrow as far as I know. The only company that I am certain he received any sort of solicitation from was Spondoolies, and they were very upfront about it. I'm sure it influenced his rating, but it still seemed pretty objective Cheesy Of course they have since proved themselves to be an upstanding manufacturer, and he still condemns their pre order practice in his rating system. Don't see anything wrong with his rating system in itself, though I think he tries to be a bit TOO neutral. Which is hardly an indictment.

Smiley I really hope TEKCoin comes back .  Roll Eyes I do have a feeling who dumped and who are screaming here " Oh and what , why aren't you buying if you don't like the price & help it grow" then for sure you were the dumper that sits and awaits more money to get in market so you can dump on it .

I can see here its a lot of philosphy i helped as much as i can in June with marketing , logo , article made contact with Qiwomen for a chinese translation . For that i got donations from thundertoe & an anonymous user ..not sure who , my guess is PressTab and thanks a lot for that! But if you look at the richlist i am around the range of 100 . From 100 to 1 they are a lot of people that arent contributing to the development of TEKCoin as community ! We all want to make a profit but also pay a % back to community for having that profit .

Phylosophing will not help us . . thanks for your time guys .

We need merchants, and we need things to make us stand out in the crowd. I am working on a couple of things, but it will not come to fruition in a short time. However, there is something else to think about. This coin is very inflationary, and it has reached a point of acceleration. It's not a big deal yet, but at some point it will be. When that happens, the per unit value is likely to drop. There are a few good ways to counter this. Some of them involved the mechanics of the coin, and I won't discuss that at this time. But the biggest one is wide adoption. We need to convince merchants to take TEK and take it PREFERENTIALLY over other forms of currency.

Now, why would they want to do that? I guarantee you that the arguments that work for the trader, miner, and exchange investor will not work for them. I'll revisit this after I hear what the lot of you say. Because I know at least one answer to that question, and if that answer is met, our coin's value will go way UP long before inflation drives it down.

Don't get me wrong.  I think SYNC is a great coin.  It's just bad practise to have someone who has been as unprofessional as MsCollec associated with it in any way.

I've tried to express this to other members of the team and have basically been met with arrogant defensive responses with the equivalent of SYNC is "too big to fail".  Smokin35 is the worst culprit of all despite being part of the Voot dumping PR debacle that occurred yesterday and he himself later apologised for.  It is ironic that he is now blind to the PR disaster that is now brewing.

This kind of hubris is never good and should be troubling for any sensible person.  Of course people who are deluded and involved in the kind of cult like "groupthink" that pervades this community will shout this down as FUD and BS purely to escape from their own cognitive dissonance.

There were people with the same attitude in other currencies that have since fallen not just Voot.  To pretend it simply can't happen with SYNC is the same kind of fallacy that ultimately leads to the very crises that it denies.

Anyway those of us that see this are doomed to be derided for pointing out what people perhaps unconsciously know themselves but just don't want to admit to.

I'm going to sit back and see how this plays out but I won't be investing in SYNC again until there is a dissociation from MsCollec and this kind of arrogant attitude.

I don't care if each SYNC gets to 100BTC.

It's a matter of principle which sadly is lacking in crypto at the moment.

That was well put. What mostly went before was straight up hand wringing.

I have had some issues with Sync, both technical and professional, right from the beginning. At one point I sold. But the truth is, and this is what I think you are trying to address, is that the foundation and MsCollec have little to do with each other. MsCollec was the official creator of the coin. From the outset, not very professional, but did stick with it in spite of a lot of FUD, some of which was certainly justified.

That being said, the community rose to the challenges, and at this point I think I can say with near certainty that if MsCollec stepped away tomorrow, few would notice and the harm would be minimal. If a coin depends entirely on it's dev, then it WILL fail.

I have seen it stated that MsCollec is female, but the thread seems to vacilate. That was the impression I was under, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, MsCollec.

She has been quite cordial to me, even when I was less than polite on my concerns, and has made a definite effort to put things right. This doesn't alleviate all concerns, of course, but ultimately it puts a plus mark in my book. That, coupled with the other developments over the period of the existence of Sync have all militated to my continued support of the coin. It's not my primary coin and my investment is mining, primarily, but I like what this community is trying to achieve. I do NOT think there was any deliberate malice in her actions. I see more inexperience with managing people, which remains the hardest of all human endeavors.

In conclusion, I don't damn the dollar because of it's association with the warmongering bastards that mismanage the US Government, I damn it because it is fundamentally and fatally flawed. I don't support Sync because of the Dev or her reputation, but because it seems fundamentally sound.

How sad

whale 123
soul eater 123

funny coincidence that 123
and
bitcycle

I followed that whole voot fiasco

and although mscollec made an initial mistake of
putting out a statement

IT IS YOU VOOT HOLDERS who blew it all out of proportion
and shot yourselves in the foot!

You only have yourselves to blame as for sync
je is the sync dev he was the sync dev

LONG BEFORE voot even existed and he was asked  by voot
to take over, he has every right to leave if he so wishes
and hes provided the coin with syncs nitesend technology
and organised smoke for you so gtfu of our forum.

WE WILL NOT TOLERATE YOU TRYING TO SABOTAGE OUR COIN
I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO DO THIS
SO YOU ARE REQUESTED TO LEAVE AND IF YOU HAVE SYNC

SELL UP AND PISS OFF ITS THAT SIMPLE!

Sorry, but I have heavily invested in Sync and I need to protect my investment. We as a community should not tolerate know scammer on board of Synccoin. MsCollec didn't even bother to share proper statement with the community.

MsCollec took over Voot however MsCollec IS SYNC. So you have an issue with MsCollec you have an issue with SYNC. If you want to protect your "investment" sell now and leave. The price is still high.

MsCollec is NOT sync. the Sync Foundation is SYNC. Read up before you speak so you won't be ignorant.

It's pretty bad when both sides of an argument don't have a clue.

No, MsCollec is not Sync. Nite69 is not Sync. The Sync foundation is not Sync.

Sync is ALL OF US. It's an open source, collaborative project.

Let me tell you guys something. I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it until SOMEBODY gets it.

A bad dev CANNOT kill a coin.

A Good dev CANNOT make a coin succeed.

A weak community can kill a coin, and they frequently do. This one has proven rather resilient.

A Strong community can bring a coin back from the dead IN SPITE of a bad dev, or even a scamming dev. Have a look at SHA coin, if you doubt me. It's not in great shape, but the patient is surely recovering. Unless the coin's code is just plain unworkable, it will continue on. Sync don't have that problem. Prior to Nite being brought on, there were some issues with the CLIENT, though the daemon worked well. That all got resolved.

This is why I simply do not care about all the fud. If the community can hack it, then the coin will continue with or without the dev, sync foundation, etc. They can help or hurt, but they can't kill it. Only you can do that.

Ain't nobody on that multipool, and it's not dedicated. My 42 GH of sha ain't gonna do anything without some other miners. For the moment, I have to pass.

Hope to have you in the future on the multipool. This could be a problem everyone is thinking and therefore nobody starts. Hopefully we will grow the community and will get more miners here.

If I had a bigger rig, I'd do it solo. But at the moment, I'd just be throwing away electricity. I have a zeusminer Blizzard coming soon, I'll point it at the scrypt side when it comes. But unless either several of us collaborate, or one or two guys with bigger rigs can hit it, the little guys won't make shit on that. I have hashed at both pools that they draw from.

Would be better if y'all could put up a dedicated multipool. There's a guy with a guide out there. I haven't the time, with my other projects, or I'd give it a go. here's the link.

I am glad that you've found an avenue to make your clients whole.

What part of taking $6000 customer funds, waiting 6 months, then delivering them $1000 worth of machines is making a client "whole"?

I shouldn't respond. I tend to agree with your assessment. But they are still delivering what you paid for, very fucking late. It beats the hell out of nothing. There are several ways to make your money back in alts. It's a gamble, but you have a machine to gamble with, whereas if it's all tied up, you're just plain out the money.

Is it right? No. Is it better than the alternatives? Yes.

Hello Y'all. I'll be adding a miner to the pool part of the time.

But something Tomcat and I were talking about in chat, and I told him I'd speak on the issue.

And that is something that I've been saying for a while. The idea that there should come a time when a coin no longer needs a development team.

In truth, aside from initial concept and possibly programming, NO coin needs a dev team, specifically. These are open source projects. While a strong development team can help and guide a coin's future to some extent, in the long run, they can neither kill it nor cure it. A strong dev can certainly help, but only a weak or apathetic community can kill it.

Y'all are in a fairly unique position here. The coin was abandoned by it's original developer. I won't comment to how that came about, as I don't actually know. The man's reputation is not good, but reputation is not always reality. But that's not why I'm not focusing on it. I'm not because the point is moot. It happened, and THIS community had the intestinal fortitude to step up and do something about it. A few of you, Tomcat and his merry men, have taken the wheel. But the captain does not own the ship. In the case of a cryptocurrency, the owners of the currency own the ship.

All of you.

Do NOT wait for the dev team to develop uses and services for your coin. I'm confident that these guys will do a good job, but making the coin succeed is not their job. Making it work is, and they've done that. It's YOUR job to make it valuable. Sell it dear, and develop services and trading outposts and whatever else is necessary to boost it's value. Because ultimately, only you can make it happen.

It would be nice for all involved if there came a time when new commits came from the community at large, and when the coin is much more than just another way to trade for BTC. But talking about it is not enough. Those of you that have the ability, should go forth and do it. Those with services that they can sell, should do so. In FIRE. Those that can promote it, should. Those that can improve it in any way, DO IT. This ain't a bank. You don't need permission, you don't need a vote, you just need willpower and time.

Good luck, and I'll be joining you here soon as a user and collector of this coin.

Hi Guys - Anyone have an idea what happens to a "conflicted" transaction? Forgetting to update my wallet, I sent some coin to an exchange. After seeing the conflicted transaction, I updated wallet and everything synced fine, but my coins are still in limbo in this conflicted transaction. Will this eventually be rejected and the coins returned to my wallet? fwiw, the transaction is not listed on the block chain. Thanks!
It's an orphan. Any staked coins tied up in it will be returned to you once it resolves. It's normal in staking coins. In my experience about 1/3rd of stakes don't pan out the first time.

The good news is that if it's orphaned, you don't lose your stake weight when it resolves.

This dev made each coin he involved dead.
so voot is rising on cryptsy because it's dead?

I have had several problems with how MsCollec handled the launch and development of this coin. I saw it as amateurish and often foolish. But then, as others became involved, it turned around. I don't know shit about voot and have little interest in it. Spreading FUD like this is irresponsible.
