Those so called bots do not mine bitcoin, mining bitcoin is done using ASIC miners which are made for the exact purpose of mining bitcoin, they cost a lot of money and need a lot of power to run, the clicking you do on those websites is either scam or it generates revenue through ads, they call them mining bots to trick you or to otherwise scam you.

Has anybody here bought this script from you?

This is exactly what this exact pool does, we all mine together to one pool, which increases the odds of finding a block for the pool as a whole, but then only the miner who gets that lucky share will get the reward regardless of how big or small his/her hashrate was.

This is called a solo pool, which is just a replacement for the old solo mining where you had to run your own node and mine to it, mining to a solo pool saves you all that trouble, besides, having close to 100% uptime and very fast connection isn't something the average person can do/afford, which is why we use a solo pool.

The other "normal" pools work the same, it's just the payout that is different, you get paid based on the number of shares you submit (essentially your hashrate speed), there was another pool scheme (forgot the name) that had a sort of a hybrid approach, the block finder gets like 25% or something like that of the block reward, and the remaining is divided between all miners including the one that hit the block, each based on the number of shares they submitted which is sort of stupid if you ask me.

I admire your desire to come up with a new pooling concept, but as it stands right now, everything you may think of has already been done.

You have to pay a lot more to convince anyone, Asicboost saves on average 13-18% on power, so let's run the numbers.

profit today = 0.15$ per th and S9 with 13th gets 1.95$ a day.

Asicboost activated> 88w per th, so a 13th S9 takes 27.4 KwH every day

Asicboost deactivated> 103w per th, 32.1 KwH

so about 4.7 kWh a day per miner so an extra 0.235$ per day for 5 cents rate (could be higher but I doubt anyone with higher rates still run S9s) and that puts you at 1.95+ 0.235 = 2.185$ and that is 12% more than a PPS pool.

Plus, S9s with Asciboost activated run A LOT cooler, and require a lot less cooling, so there is more cost involved when running them without Asicboost, also the lifespan of the miner will be reduced for running hotter, so not even that extra 12% can make up for all of that.

To add more insult to injury, the vast majority of S9s run on firmware versions that do self-tuning to squeeze a lot better efficiency, anywhere between 70w to 80w, and those firmware don't have a non-asicboost version, so it looks like the 12% can be anywhere near double.

I have a few hundreds of S9s that have been tuned and mining at the best efficiency they can, took a lot of work to get them to the stage, and having to flash an old non-asicboost firmware will take a lot of work, I personally won't do it unless it's an offer I can't refuse, and given that this is going to be done for research purposes, I doubt it's worth it to give me such an offer, but hopefully, you get a good offer from someone else, just be careful of scammers and use escrow.


S9ks don't have Non Asicboost firmware, Bitmain didn't write one, and nobody else did.

I don't think so, when that board was created there was little to no ASICs, if you scroll back a few years, you will see that most people were selling their PCs, Laptops, and related parts, recently since mining bitcoin (as well as many other coins) is only done on ASIC miners, that board became dominated by ASIC topics.

The thing is, ASIC miners only interest people who mine with ASICs, those are unique and specific users, the rest of the members who visit that board do it to shop for a laptop, headphones, a new ram stick, or anything computer-related, and on the other side, someone who wants to buy/sell an ASIC miner will have to filter those users selling their PC parts, it's just a mess because the audiences of both categories are different.

That works too, but I think ( Marketplace> Goods > ASICs ) would be better, ASIC miners by market definition aren't exactly computer hardware, and since there are more topics regarding ASICs than anything else "computer", they might as well get their own child board right under the Goods' board, at least IMO.

The Computer hardware child board has really become such a mess, I know the rules/preference is that certain subject needs to dominate in order to have it's own child board, and as it stands right now, the Computer hardware is dominated by ASIC miners.

Looking at the first 20 topics, about 60% of the topics there are ASIC miner related, this has been the case for months (I did not cherry-pick the first page).


Someone who is actually looking for "computer hardware" in that child board will have a very hard time.

I suggest that ASICs have their own child board (for both alt and BTC).

Same here, I did not mean he is a scammer, but the risk is way too much, especially for solo mining, I mean if it was a PPS pool then well, all you risk is 24 hours' worth of mining, but imagine "magically" winning a whole block only to realize that you can't take it home, I mean even a longstanding pool like CKsolo has once lost a block for some technical reasons, it would be extremely hard to trust a new pool even if the person was trustworthy, I personally won't take that risk and I don't think anyone in their right mind would.

Looking at the overall picture the answer would be yes, we are helping each other and everyone else who believes in Bitcoin, it doesn't matter how you look at it, every hash straightens the ecosystem as a whole.

On the other hand, as far as the solo pool goes, unlike the normal pooled mining, only the person who hits the blocks get the reward, but then the pool gets its fees and thus can be financially self-sustained, so, ya, the more blocks person A finds, the more chances that the pool will be there for person B to use.

And then beyond all that, the fun and the joy of playing this solo game is beyond imagination, everyone here has a story and a dream, and hitting a block on a solo pool can be life-changing, it can also become an addiction, similar to gambling (with worse odds), I just hope that people maintain a good risk/reward ratio when dealing with a solo pool, don't go all in -- but don't stay completely out of it.

With all due respect, why would anyone risk a whole block by mining on a new pool? there are two types of risks involved here.

1- You could very well keep all the rewards to yourself

2- Your pool might not be technically capable of handling blocks in the first place.

One needs to be sure that at least the points above aren't valid, why would I use your new pool over another solo pool that has been there for years and found over 200 blocks?

If it's the 0.8% difference I could use another trusted pool that has 0.5% fees, which is also a pool that's known to find blocks (regardless of the fact that the owner of that pool is such a d***) he is still more trustworthy and technically competent.

Your router won't give a static IP to the miner, you have to set that manually on the miners network configuration, but that could be done later.

Please post a screenshot of the miner status and the pool configuration, chances are, you entered the wrong mining details.

Please use proper pool, nicehash is hard to connect to, they have different URLs for asicboost and non asicboost which can cause issues, try this pool.

There is nothing wrong with trying to learn how mining works, but given the fact that your father mined bitcoin before 2016, there is a good chance that he has got some sort of a wallet in there, that would be a lot more rewarding than using his old gear which now is 'sadly' very slow and outdated.

The encouraging news is that your father's gear at that time must have mined some good amount of BTC that was worth very little at that time, so don't give up looking, before digging try to make copies of all the hard drives he has, DO NOT expose them to the internet and do not share any of files with anyone.

At some point, you might have to give out some information in regards to what kind of files you found in order to get help on how to try and extract any PKs in there, but don't rush, learn first so that you won't end up giving a wallet seed or anything that would result in losing your BTC.

Yup, these rich corporates will redefine what mining is, a long time ago, there was 3-5 months ROI possibility on many gears (both in BTC and $), now the minimum is over a year, eventually, it will be like any other business where nobody including those big corporates can hit ROI in a few years.

Power doesn't seem to be limited over there, money isn't limited either, it seems like the only real bottleneck here would be the manufacturing speed, current hashrate estimation is 223EH, a 5% increase is 11.15EH, which translates to nearly 111,000 S19 pros,  to make and deploy that amount of gears is unsustainable IMO, we will have to slow down very soon, but we will never stop growing.

They paid a few extra thousands just to get their gears hosted by Compass, while the power rate was tempting in Russia, I am sure the price difference would pay the power bill at least for the first year (it was anywhere from 2k to 5k) depending on the gear price at that time, but well, sadly newbies have to pay the price twice for not doing enough research.


I can't accuse them of anything without solid proof, however, I can speculate as well. Another point is the fact that they could have delayed responding to the Sanctions, I mean come on! it's not like the U.S police were pointing a gun at Compass's owners telling them to end the deal with the Russian host right now, EU sanctioned everyone in Russia (most of them don't even matter) and they shut their eyes on the Gas companies because well, you can't hurt your own people this way, Compass could have saved those newbies if they wanted, the law isn't black and white, there is always a way to reduce damage if there is a will, but it could be that they intentionally used this excuse to force the clients to sell their gears for cheap, for all we know, the gears could still be mining to Compass "new address" after they bought them 'back' for dust, but we don't know, do we?



That's also a good possibility, Compass is known for having long delays.

What's even worse, many people paid for future orders, not sure how Compass is going to handle that, imagine selling a gear you never saw hashing for 4k or less after paying 10k or more for it, that would be more painful than having had the miner run for a few months at least.

How did you perform the reset? The safest way would be using an Sdcard to flash different firmware, if that does not fix it -- you will need another control board.

I can't really read the kernel log of Braiin OS but it looks like there is a missing file according to this


Compare this line against the other miner, if it's not there, then chances are you need to flash a new firmware, also there is a dedicated thread for Braiins OS in the software section you could post the kernel log there they will probably read it better.

While the first part of this post is correct, the second one isn't accurate, the password in Cgminer is irrelevant to almost all mining pools, (x) or (blank) works just fine with nearly almost all pools, the password you use to login to the pool's portal has nothing to do with the password you set on your miner's configuration.

Someone who works with an official MicroBT distributor sent me a nice list that I wouldn't find otherwise.

I think some of those guys might also fix Bitmain gears, we know at least (HMTech) which is listed here already does that, not sure about the rest.

Usually, your miners will be pointed to your own pool, the host doesn't own a pool nor is responsible for that part, you provide them your main pool and two back up pools and they will set the miners up for you, depending on how well built the facility is, this could be done via basic methods like an email or an online portal which you use to set up your pools and then they use some sort of a script that would copy-paste your workers from that database to your miners, some hosts could give you direct access to your miner using some of the technologies available. Different hosts will have different ways of dealing with that, but the common thing is that every owner will decide the pool they want for their miners.
