1721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Introduing our CoinBox app, a new crypto portfolio app and it's NOT a scam on: July 05, 2018, 12:09:00 PM
None of the 'crypto-portfolio apps' that I know of are scams? You just help people track and manage their coin related data and not the actual coins right? Never been a fan of portfolio apps but that is the most common niche in this section. We get such apps launched here every week.

Yes, you are right! crypto portfolio apps can only read your portfolio, it can not be a scam
there are plenty of the crypto apps out there, you are right again, but we believed that it can be something, we wanted to benefit the crypto community: )

No, but they could contain malware that steals coins from your wallet on your devices.

OP, is it possible to get your app audited by Google play?
The fact that you've been allowed to the Apple app store is a pretty good sign that it does not contain malware.
Getting verified by Google play would also be a big plus.

When are you going to add it to the play store, instead of just offering the app on your own website?
1722  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Who believes in HODLING? on: July 05, 2018, 11:56:15 AM
I believe in taking profit when it's needed, I sold the majority of my coins when we hit the all time high of around 20k
That said, I've also re-bought at various other levels, all below 10k though.

It was pretty clear that the price was going to drop when we hit 20k, so I just didn't want to take any chances.
1723  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Monetizing crypto website with AdSense on: July 05, 2018, 11:44:37 AM
Adsense would indeed be your best bet, I don't think that any of the crypto advertising networks are currently worth it.
They just don't offer the same rates as Adsense does. Difficult to say how much you would earn though, it all depends on your CPM.

Is your website already accepted by Adsense or do you need to apply still?

It might be worth looking into getting some custom advertising deals, you can reach out to crypto related services and make them an offer?
1724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese Bitcoin Billionaire Li Xiaolai recorded outing many big crypto players on: July 05, 2018, 11:02:27 AM
Too bad that it isn't subtitled, tried to auto-generate subtitles, but doesn't seem to be working.

Quote
The founder of block-chain should be least an instant online celebrity, fans-flow is the core competition, the rest of factors are all bullshit. As long as they believed in you, there will be common census and what you need to do is just continue cheating them.

What is this in reference to? Is he talking about Bitcoin (Satoshi) or some other website or service with the name block-chain?
1725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Introduing our CoinBox app, a new crypto portfolio app and it's NOT a scam on: July 04, 2018, 09:32:58 PM
This is just weird marketing IMO, why do you need to explicitly mention that your app is not a scam?
That just makes me think that it probably is a scam, reverse psychology, you know...

Make a decent thread, post some screenshots and let people audit your app.
1726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we change the public's view of Crypto world? on: July 04, 2018, 09:30:10 PM
People view on cryptos and Bitcoin has changed

I read, 80% of the coins being dumped now are from long term holders, they want OUT!

Now there are 105,000,000 less visitors at coinbase. Google search for Bitcoin has fallen by -80%
It’s all because of the drop in the value of bitcoins. That’s why less and less people are bothering about researching and investing into the crypto currency and it’s not only Bitcoins but the other cryptos as well. This is just a phase and I do believe that Bitcoin will overcome it eventually.

Yeah I believe it's just a cycle that repeats itself over and over again. Off course interest is going to drop when Bitcoin's price is dropping for a couple of months in a row.
We've all seen that happening before. With the whole Mt. Gox scam, interest was low for at least a year or more.

Now we're picking up speed again, the next couple of months we'll probably see another increase of interest.
1727  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: HelpMeHodl on: July 03, 2018, 01:06:25 PM
A simple smart contract which does what the title says! "Help Me Hodl" it is for all the emotional traders who cant help but sell at a loss because of their emotions, even if they know its not the right choice

This contracts takes whatever money you send to it and sends it back to you in exactly 2102000 blocks (approximately 1 year) so you can gain the full price appreciation without the limitations of your emotions Cheesy

Wow. That's really interesting way to "HODL" coins. I didn't know that. But is it have risk? I mean, when if there will be some changes in ecosystem, don't i lose my coins?
And i will be very fun, when the price of the coin will go higher and you can't sell it.

What OP is suggesting doesn't actually exist you know... Not in the way he's describing it at least.

OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY (OP_HODL) is similar, but isn't recommended for far-future time locks.
I think timelocks of a year should be fine, but any longer than that could spell disaster.

1728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: an example of a year of signature's campaign on: July 03, 2018, 11:51:35 AM
And that's the reason why I haven't participated in any ICO signature campaigns yet.
I'm happy getting my 130 dollars per week from the CG signature campaign, over the possibility of earning more through ICO campaigns.

Think I'm up to 7000 dollars per year just from that campaign alone.
1729  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: HelpMeHodl on: July 03, 2018, 11:05:17 AM
I just do the same thing through coinb.in, it's reasonably easy and you can just set the locktime yourself.
You can definitely turn something similar into a service, people would probably be interested in it.

If you manage to build a service that does this, please update Smiley

thats what i was thinking, most people dont know what locking and things like that are, so this is for them, and untill i learn to code this will just be a dream as i have no funds to hire someone to do it Sad

you don't need to hire somebody, like eternalgloom already said: if you don't know how to create a transaction manually, you can always use coinb.in

  • suft to coinb.in
  • download their sourcecode
  • unzip the sourcecode, open the index.html
  • go to new => transaction
  • enter a funded address for which you own the private key
  • click on "advanced", enter a locktime
  • as output, enter an address whose private key you also own... The value of the output should be the sum of the values of the inputs minus the fee*
  • generate the unsigned transaction, save it on your disk, go offline
  • open coinb.in's index.html again, click on sign
  • paste your unsigned tx + private key, sign the transaction, save the signed transaction, reboot your pc, go back online
  • use coinb.in or any other service that allows you to broadcast signed transactions to broadcast your transaction

* in order to calculate an appropriate fee, you can always use https://coinb.in/#fees

Yeah indeed that's the process, but I can see that it could be a bit daunting for newbies.
I could imagine that new users might misplace their redeem script or do not know how to get their public key.

When I tried it for the first time, I made sure that I read everything twice just to not make any errors.
This could be done a lot easier IMO.
1730  Economy / Economics / Re: Would a global disaster increase or decrease the Bitcoin value ? on: July 03, 2018, 10:44:41 AM
I could see it increase Bitcoin's price, as long as basic infrastructure is not affected.
Similar to gold, Bitcoin is also used as a safe haven to park people's money in case of economic turmoil.

OP mentions war, which is a good example. People massively flocked to gold and other precious metals during both world wars.
I do not think the internet would be affected too greatly during a war.
1731  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to turn a 2+ years old nonEnglish cryptonews site self-sustaining? on: July 03, 2018, 10:28:24 AM
You really need to make some custom deals for selling advertisements.
Do not agree to be paid in possibly worthless tokens for promoting ICOs. Most ICOs have a marketing budget, they'll pay you in ETH as well.

I don't think that adding referral links is unethical, as long as you mention it in the article.
Another option is to reach out to crypto related services and ask them whether they would want a paid op-ed written about their service.

Perhaps you can also cross-post original articles to Steemit for example, you'll be able to double-dip and earn both ways.
1732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook unbans crypto ads? Are they planning to launch their own crypto? on: July 03, 2018, 10:14:42 AM
Yes, they do launch their own crypto coin, and it may be very promising one. I`ve read an article, you can google it. Unbanning is a good point, but actually I didn’t feel any differences, when it was banned.

Source? I'm pretty sure the news is just about Mark Zuckerberg being interested in blockchain technology. That doesn't necessarily mean that they're already planning on creating their own coin/token. Facebook creating their own coin/token is simply just a rumor(for now). There are even rumors like Facebook planning on purchasing Coinbase or something. Don't claim these stuff to be true unless it's 100% confirmed.

I expect a lot better from a Sr member to be honest.

Yeah I've read the same rumors from many different sources, but it's just all speculation at this point.
I really wouldn't believe any of that, unless there was confirmation from Facebook.

If Facebook really does purchase Coinbase, I'd imagine there would be a lot of backlash against that.
1733  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★ Crypto-Games.net ★ Only 0.8% House Edge on Dice ★ Blackjack ★ Roulette ★ on: July 01, 2018, 02:23:25 PM
You've asked for it, and now they're here.
Progressive jackpots are also available on roulette starting today.

Ooooh THANK YOU!!!

I'm very happy with this, I really like progressive jackpots on roulette!
Going to try that one out when I'm back from vacation, or maybe sooner if my mobile internet isn't too slow.

Now I have think of something else to ask, didn't know it was so easy to get my requests granted (j/k)
1734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it my impression or media is biased towards bad news ? on: July 01, 2018, 12:16:17 PM
I've also seen enough positive articles about Bitcoin, even on mainstream news websites.
It really just depends, it's probably way easier to write a negative article than it is to write a positive one.

To write positive articles, you'd have to look into the technical side of things and not just repeat what everybody else is saying.
1735  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: ASICVAULT: The Most Secure Cryptocurrency Hardware Wallet on: June 29, 2018, 08:34:41 PM

If it's legit and I was wrong in my posting before I'll apologise in advance. I've just seen so many scams over the years that it's hard to give the benefit of the doubt.

Well, it might be legit, there's no guarantees that they're going to pull through with the pre-orders.
That said, if these become available for direct purchase, I'd definitely want to buy one.

Looks way better than the ledger nano and Ledger blue, that's just purely my own taste though Smiley
1736  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you find Success in Gambling? on: June 29, 2018, 02:13:00 PM
Overall, I'm at a loss of at least 1 BTC almost, I know this because Crypto-Games offers stats for your win/loss ratio.
Mind you, this is over a period of more than 2 years, so it isn't that bad.

I just make sure never to gamble more than I can afford.
1737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What signup method do you prefer on Bitcoin gambling websites? on: June 29, 2018, 11:03:44 AM
I used to play on some of these sites that didn't require you to register, but had a few mishaps because of it.
Sometimes I'd lose the unique link and have to e-mail support to get my balance back.

Nowadays I prefer to just create an account, as long as they don't require me to log in with Facebook, I don't mind.
1738  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: ASICVAULT: The Most Secure Cryptocurrency Hardware Wallet on: June 29, 2018, 09:21:52 AM
I really like the design of this wallet, I know that that's not the most important feature of this hardware wallet, but just wanted to mention it anyway.
Though, I do think that even the cheapest version is pretty expensive, with prices starting at 199 EUR.

I really wouldn't be pre-ordering these at those prices and with some claims of it being sketchy.

1740  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Story of crypto market on: June 28, 2018, 09:25:24 PM
I can honestly say that I've never lost a lot of money with crypto, just because I've never invested any fiat.
I've sold a lot during different ATH's, the one before Mt. Gox went down and the latest one at 20k.

But I'm still holding some coins and looking to re-buy when I see that the market is moving upwards again.
