A doubt:
My wallet has staking expected time to earn reward 1 hours and not out of it. Gain rewards not more than 20 days. Someone could tell me what the problem is? Embarrassed Embarrassed

It was just a reference value.

How to know the correct value? The coin does not earn interest??

I think it might be impossible to know the exact value, because network speed changes.
earn interest? yes, SHA coin is a pos coin, so you can get coins by opening the wallet.

That's what I'm saying. I can spend hours with an open wallet and the interest is not being paid. If it is a coin "Pos", when the interest is paid? Embarrassed
As I recall, it's maturity time is 48 hours. No idea what or if there's a max, but the interest will be paid accordingly. Larger amounts stake faster than small, but eventually the books clear eithere way.

My coins are already rotting so "mature" Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy. Not yet understand the reason for the non-appearance of interest, since it is a coin "Pos" ... Let's wait and see what happens.

Also, be sure your wallet is unlocked (for staking only).

If you encrypted your wallet you need to unlock it for staking.

Go to Settings>Unlock Wallet>Enter pass-phrase (keep the option "for staking only" checked).
From this moment your wallet is able to create coins. You don't need to worry, your wallet is still protected, but unlocked for staking only.

You can check estimated time to earn a reward in the bottom-right corner of the wallet (green arrow icon, the arrow is grey if you have locked wallet).

You can also unlock for staking from the command line or the console, if you are uncomfortable with the buttons or are using the daemon.
walletpassphrase <password><timeinseconds> <mint>  ex: walletpassphrase somedamnthingrandomanddifficult   999999999   true

you want the time to be high, as it's only unlocked for minting and needs to able to do so unattended, unless you wanna sit and watch for hours at a time Cheesy

Has anyone received their payout from the multipool yet?

Yes, I got mine.

I did too but I don't believe I got my SHA256 shares added into it.

I'm not there yet, I have something else I have to finish out with my gridseed. That being said, I've mined through chunkypools in the past, and they have always got it straight sooner or later. If they have some problem with payouts, talk to them. They'll pull the logs and fix it. They're a decent outfit.

FWIW:

Up till a few days ago, my interaction with the new dev had only been a few comments back and forth, and he always seemed quite intelligent. As of 6 days prior, we made a trade, the details of which I won't reveal without his consent except to say that on his side it was a structured payout.

To date he has been completely diligent in this deal, and we have talked quite a bit about the future of several coins. I found out about this one through  him. I'm not invested, but I do believe y'all have found a good man to steer the ship. Best of luck, ladies and gentlemen. I'm watching for now. Might invest in the future, but everything I have is tied up right now.

Don't forget that Canadians are not supposed to be buying new contracts until PB Mining figures out the legal issues involved with doing business with Canadian residents.

one doesn't HAVE to be a Canadian to go to school in Toronto... Just sayin'.

Hello Frank, my last date was mined in 5/7/214. Thereafter no more mined. What can this be?

you need more coins. it works like hashing power. or you will need more time to get mined coins.

I have no idea how many coins you have, but if it's being slow, make a new receiving address and send the entire balance to yourself. This will put everything in one block, which will mature in 48 hours and be eligible to stake. It varies from coin to coin, but this one stakes best on big balances. So, when you do stake, do it again right away so you lose little in coin age. After you get a biggish amount, then use coin control and send to self to get them into smaller but quick staking blocks.

Your only other choice is to wait. Even small amounts will eventually stake.

I like the short sighted people Cheesy They are accelerating my plans. If you told me three weeks ago I could get over a hundred TEK for .03 BTC I'd have called you an idiot. And now I'm calling those who allowed it to happen idiots  Grin

Interesting this should be cropping up now as a conversation point.
and with Tranz suggesting new developments (500 HBN limits)I went back to some of my 2013 calculations on inflation

back of a coaster style as always.

for POS to outweigh POW impact for inflation the average POS bloc needs to pay >5HBN

there are 28800 block in a 10 day cycle
28800*5 = 144000 HBN created by POS every 10 days
requires an active HBN coin supply (regularly being staked) of 7.2 Million HBN ..

Thats without POW blocks and balances on (I assume no staked) exchange wallets.
So I figured inflation by POS wasn't even an issue before probably ~8-10 million HBN coin supply
- my rule of thumb and interestedly watching to see how it actually plays out.

Of course when POS inflation gets started it starts to run out of control without the reward reduction that's in place.

BUT

Something more fundamental bothers me, and has done since the start ..... Maybe someone can clear it up for me?

If HBN (any POS insert name here) was to become a reality with a wide user base I'd expect to see more than 28800 wallets globally (orders of magnitude more) staking many blocks in 10 days
but even if they only staked 1 block how do they all get serviced with POS reward with only a finite number of block rewards available? i.e. 28800 (2880 per day)
They can't carry over as the backlog would just get forever bigger.
Or would Max age end up needing to be very large? - kiss byebye to compound interest bonuses

I realise my example is worst case 10 days and should be perhaps 30 days (nearly 100k blocks) or more but even then .... orders of magnitude vs a triple?

This is not gospel. I'm uncertain myself, but I THINK that PoS blocks do not affect the frequency of PoW blocks. I'm sure Tranz or press will set me straight if I'm wrong Cheesy

That is odd. Maybe delete everything but wallet.dat and resync? I don't have a lot of coin, but it's been staking.

I am having trouble using a back up sync wallet.dat. I sent sync to my wallet and I was having trouble getting it connected so I had to delete it but saved the wallet.dat file. I was finally able to get the wallet to connect to the network and then tried to replace the wallet.dat file but it does not seem to be working. Does anyone know how to fix this?

if you have synced wallet you can try this command line key one by one until issue will be resolved (you must backup your "wallet.dat" before):
 -rescan
 -reindex
 -salvagewallet

I tried those commands and it said method not found. I see the transaction on the block explorer and I still have the same address, not sure why it isn't working.
assuming it don't lock, go into the debug console and type dumpwallet <filename> and it will export the wallet to a text file. Then backup your wallet.dat file, delete it from the active folder, and sync. Once you're in sync, go again to the console and type importwallet <filname of the file you dumped> and it should import all of your previous keys and transactions. It worked for me.

frozen on 37774 block

Same, but only for a couple hours. It's probably just nobody staking atm.  We're not far enough into the game to have people staking hourly yet. So it's going to move in fits and starts.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I will have my blocks configured to stake at least once a day within a month. Small amounts to be sure, but it will move the chain.

Just to add a bit more to the discussion:

PoS is still a form of mining, and does still consume electricity, so it's not pure inflation in the classic sense. But that aside, there is another, less predictable factor. Not everyone who mines is staking, exchanges largely do not (or at least claim not to), and a fair amount of coins get traded, further reducing PoS returnes on the total moneysupply.

Are incentives worth it for "small" holders. I know its early and things may get big in the next 3-6 months, but is it worth it for investors with .3-.5 worth of sync to hold long term? Wouldn't it just feed the whales in the long run? Apologize if i missed something but i dont see anything else other than discounts and small rewards, just wish i bought earlier  Undecided

Can someone share a hypothetical timeline? like what to expect every 3 months or so?...

Timeline is much, much shorter than that. We have big things coming this week and the next week and the next.

Small holders will get many perks.

What you should ALL be doing right now is staking. Means free money, stability.

Other thing you should be doing is working on ways to make Sync better, more valuable. Develop something for the coin, affect your own investment.

Market is waiting to see if our plans are real. They are. And once they realize this, then....

Thanks to everyone, welcome to the new Sync.

FYI: I represent the Sync Foundation.

I have been staking, I can disclose that I am < 1 SYNC but greater than 0.5 it is ok for the coin one day will be 10,000$ (base line)

you have no idea how hard it was to mine back then... I am trying to get to 1 SYNC by staking alone, we shall see, network is very stable I must say

+0.00065071 SYNC could mean several hundreds of dollars in the future, plus I like the technology so I mine, people without technology background should buy

Staking produces occasional conflicts such as "Status: conflicted, broadcast through 11 nodes" if you can enlighten why, I do appreciate it  Cool

That's an orphan. It's nothing broken, just two or more nodes solved the same block at essentially the same time. It becomes invalid after a time, and if Sync is like other PoS coins, you get your stake weight back when it fails to confirm.
1797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SYNC]X11|1,000 Coins| NiteSend| Sync Foundation | Stability Fund Blueprint on: July 19, 2014, 02:52:59 PM
Alright, gonna post up something that may be of use to a few of you.

As some of you know, I had a wallet file go corrupt, or something... I could not get it to work in the newest wallet. Tried al the usual tricks, and it always failed on launch.

I can report that I have successfully recovered my wallet. What I'm posting here might be an "everybody knows that" moment for some of the older hands, but I've been in Cryptos for two years now, and I didn't know it. So hopefully it helps.

There is a function called "dumpwallet" in the RPC commands. I intend to use this for all coins from now on for my backups. type dumpwallet <filename> and it dumps your wallet to a text file with a name of your choice, with all the private keys. Then use importwallet <dumpfile> in the console, and you get everything back even if your old wallet file don't want to work.

Hope it helps somebody.

Another thought, and one that's actually close to my heart. I know there are a number of musicians on this forum. Why not sell your creations priced in ZS? Shouldn't be that hard to set up a shopping cart that takes it's payments in crypto. I think there are some open source ones out there that do it already.

Thank you so much for explaining it so that I could understand it.  It all makes since completely.

It can get very confusing. I'm not great at math, so I've hung back and watched the pool for a long time. I don't currently mine BTC, as my rig is more profitable on alts (it's very small), but when I did, and in the future if I can get better equipment, I have and will have Eligius as my primary pool.

Not because I fully understand the payout system (I don't), but because for the time that I was mining here, the operator has been dilligent, honest, and responsive. I never made a lot mining BTC, as I was late to the game. But after a couple of months on Eligius, I was never concerned about whether or not I would get my payout, either. It came, always. Not always on time, but always.

Whenever I had a question, even dumb ones, either Whizkid or some of the other rather smart members of this thread helped me out. I learned a great deal from my time here, and I still keep track in antiicipation of both gaining more knowledge and (hopefully) getting more powerful equipment.
