Not to take away from Peters wonderful challenge to the world but shouldn't this have been better directed at the ECDSA weaknesses implied by Schnier assuming of course this was his motivation for posting this?

All of Satoshi's coins are a reward for breaking the ECDSA, since they are not protected by the RIPEMD160 hash function.

Well they are as a public key is protected by an unspent address.

No they aren't. Satoshi's early public keys aren't protected by anything.

You can still bet that I'll forget with other people: http://bitbet.us Grin

Dang, I posted a (my first one) bet on bitbet about you, hoping to help you getting some change.
But it was involing a poll here, and I posted the bet to get its url before posting the poll in here... And now the bet is under review, and most likely won't be accepted, since it lacks the poll link, which does not exist yet.
Oh well... Live and learn. Grin

http://bitbet.us/propositions/

Edit : to bitbet operator : if you read this, and allow me to send an email/mp to you, just including the poll url, that'd be very nice!
Refused!  Angry
What was the bet?

And by the way, I didn't forget to put the € back Grin

Yup, I've entered it. I'm able to vote and such, just not upload photos. Trying again in this post.   Yup confirmed, "Bad password"
If you are able to vote, that's strange...
Try again, the button should now tell you what username/pass you provided. Please check they are correct. (don't post your password obviously)
1808  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Choose the new Pywallet name] - Pywallet 2.1.0: manage your wallet on: September 13, 2013, 08:12:53 AM
why the sudden need for a name change? pywallet is totaly fine and alot of ppl know it this way Wink

JackWallet sounds nice.  It sounds catchy. Also it's sort of like a car jack is to a car. You use JackWallet to repair your wallet!
I don't think people will value a software to deal with their private keys if its name makes them think about car-jacking.
I'm not an English native though so maybe it's catchy and not scary. If so, could native speakers tell me so?
1809  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: accessing an old, cold storage wallet.dat on: September 12, 2013, 09:56:13 PM
New client versions will accept old wallets. (I have a wallet from April 2011 which is working with 0.8.3)
If you are really concerned about the security though you should make the transaction on an offline computer.
1810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Generate an address on: September 12, 2013, 09:49:14 PM
casting 2 x 8 sided dice will generate a hex number each time, cast it 16 times will generate a private key

Run your solution 30 times
  • Each time the result is in [2,3,4,13,14,15,16] (7 possibilities), I owe you 1BTC
  • Each time the result is in [6,7,8,9,10,11,12] (7 possibilities), you owe me 1BTC
  • Each time the result is 5, nothing happens

Deal?

1812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: September 12, 2013, 09:19:41 PM
1-2BTC per day while doing nothing is $3,000-$6,000 per month.

If that's nothing for doing maybe 1 hour of actual work then boy, you must be a brain surgeon or an astronaut.

And I never said I'm a genius trader, I only started trading last week.  What I said was trading Cryptos is much easier than trading stocks with actually less risks.   And I traded stocks for over 20 years now and my college education is related to investments so I'm qualified to make such a statement.

But if making $6,000 per month off your couch and while playing at the park with your kids ain't a good life for you, then man, you don't need crypto coins, you need to start your own SpaceX program.

Now quit being a jealous hater and just do what I tell you to and thank me later, tough-guy!

Considering the ridiculous volume on altcoin exchanges 1-2BTC can be the achieved in a *good* day.  But as we all know, in trading there are also average and bad days.

I'd say that believing that is possible to consistently make 1-2BTC per day for 30 days a month by trading valueless altcoins with a small initial capital is pretty much a fairy tale.

Not with the help of God numbers
1813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: September 12, 2013, 09:08:47 PM
Lol, Jackie.  No, I didn't buy any BBQcoin.  No FeatherCoin and no BeakCoin and no HoofsCoin.  For me a name means a lot, it shows a lack of imagination from the founder and without creativity a coin ain't gonna make it.

Speaking of creative genius minds, I just got another cool idea for a coin.  BitchMadeCoin (BMC) for all the bitches out there.  Lol

Did you guys hear some guy made NigerianCoin.  No joke, its all over Cryptsy, NIGs are coming.  Lol, that's not even a joke.  I'm bummed cause such a genius coin didn't come out of my head.  Damn it!

NIGs?
Obama?

Aahhh, you racist bigot.  How could you.  And here I thought we had a group of well mannered and classy fucking individuals.

Oh noes you dun goof'd bro.
I meant Obama is half Nigerian.

Ahahahaha.  Actually he's half Kenyan.  KIGs just doesn't sound as cool.  Lol

Shhh. It was a perfect explanation.
1814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: September 12, 2013, 09:07:33 PM
Some cool rumors going around on cryptsy which I want my homies here to know about.

Apparently DGC has received $30,000 in funding for its coin and for its upcoming exchange Cryptoave.

It's investors have given Baritus 50 BTC with which to buy up DGC coins off the market to have a pool of coins for theme Cryptoave goes live in 2 months.

But there more.  Baritus has 2 other cons SecurityCoin and Argentus and the rumors are those two coins are basically feeding DGC, the focus is DGC.  Also, there's additional funding coming for DGC.

Put all this together and add to it a top notch crypto coin name, like DigitalCoin, which should have come out of my head, and you've got the perfect recipe for the next $3 coin.

I'm going on record saying that within 12 months DGC will be $1-$3.  That's a massive spike from today's 2 cents ($.02).   So I would say accumulate this coins for the long run, as I have been doing and hold it even if it goes up 5-fold.  The real money will come next year, especially if that Bitcoin ETF license happens the way I've been predicting for the last 3 months.

Quoted for future hilarious reference

So I go to http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/174546.user.js and copy/paste all the up-to-date code.
Result:

Of course when I'll use another computer tomorrow I will forget to fix that...
I will fix it by hand right now and if you don't fix it tomorrow, you are going to send me 1BTC. That way you won't forget it, deal?
Anyway. No.
I'd still be able to forget it...  Angry
It could have been smart if I were confident about my brain.
Dangit! There goes my easy 1BTC  Sad

I just downloaded the new version @ the library. All set! Please work on the settings being server now that you have something to host it on. It is annoying to change it every time I use a different computer.
Done, look at the settings page it's pretty straight-forward I think.
Thank you because I would never have done it without some reminders. And it's a hassle to change all the settings again each time I delete/reinstall BT++ on my dev PCs...
0.2.0, finally...

Going to fix the unicode bug now
Done. The € symbol is inside the script itself, I don't get why sometimes it becomes this mess... I'll try to check that each time to find out what happens.

Maybe because the forum uses Latin-1?

That's the point, the € is only inside the script so this has nothing to do with the forum.
Anyway I found the problem. When I resume coding on another computer, the script doesn't auto update because I previously modified it by hand.
So I go to http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/174546.user.js and copy/paste all the up-to-date code.
