Where can we see the actions of the NSF?

If this don't become public soon, then im out.  After all crypto is about transparency

No please, don't go. NAUT is nothing without you!

Or, you could read the thread where all the NSF trading has been posted. Hmmm... your choice.

Forging needs to be spread around more, it seems that forging favors those with more Qora which isn't good.

Isn't that the whole point of Proof of Stake?
1803  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: May 23, 2014, 08:15:52 PM
Do you really think his client for NXT is user friendly?

I think the NXT Wallet is the nicest one I have. It was simple one click installer, and the main page when you log in shows you your balance right at the top, easy to see. It also has a block chain explorer build right in. Very very very nice wallet NXT has.

So, yes, I think it is very user friendly.
1804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] UniversalCoin (UNV) - The 0.01 BTC minimum value coin - on: May 23, 2014, 06:42:43 PM
It's certainly possible to design exchange software that would enforce a minimum price, but does the existing software have that capability? Has the developer contacted the exchanges and asked them whether they can set a minimum price for all trades of a particular coin? If he hasn't done this yet, he better do it. If they say no, that blows his idea for this coin.

Even if an exchange is willing to enforce a minimum buy price, that doesn't mean there are buyers. So, your coins being automatically worth double what you paid is a wish. A coin is only worth what someone will pay for it RIGHT NOW. That's why I am surprised that most exchanges list the "last" price as the price. Normally a stock is listed at the current BID.
1805  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: May 23, 2014, 01:07:14 AM
Someone just bought 12.4M @75 satoshi

yeah, demand surpasses supply by far at this moment. Many people won't sell without an exchange. But I doubt that they will trust the little sharexcoin exchange. We need poloniex to add this coin once its stable! I already contacted him, but as I said, without 100% stable server, this won't happen.

I'm not sure why not. It has done thousands of trades with no complaints and instant payouts without any problems. Its a great exchange. I'm looking forward to buying some Qora there.
1806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 22, 2014, 10:45:24 PM
Wouldn't it be easier to just buy silver rounds/bars, warehouse them and tie the assets to that storage?

Where is the fun?

I guess if pouring 2000deg metal is one guys idea of fun, more power to him. Wink

What is so fun at pool party with barbecuing, beer and live band... when you can melt metal in hot oven... Oh yeaaaah ! !   Grin   Grin

I think he's planning on making 'NXT' bars eventually...

im not sure if i want to do that or just have a more general brand. but yes i will definitely be getting a stamping machine and some custom stamps at some point. i really need more feedback from the community. there are soo many things that i could do to improve my business. like literally 2 dozen things that i know of already and of course i can only do one at a time so it would be great if i knew what was most important to you guys so i could put that at the top of my list.

some potential upgrades (in the order i think is most important):
buying a tumbler so that bars will come out with a mirror shine
moving into refining
having a custom 10 ounce mold made so i can start pouring 10 ounce bars
getting stamps and a stamping machine
moving into gold

Anon136, I assume the tokens on the AE represent a share in these bars you are showing. The bars are obviously in your possession. So claiming your share would mean that you have to send/ship the physical stuff to that person. We have to trust you for this. So is there a way in which we can eliminate this trust (the crypto world is all about finding trushtless solutions). Even if you are trustworthy then there is the problem of a limited lifespam. What happens if you die (i hope you life long, don't get me wrong).

So i think it would be nice if you could setup a company/organisation/foundation that legaly possesses the silver and would deliver them to anyone who has the tokens. So this company needs to legally acknowledge the NXT blockchain and the silver tokens that are traded on it.

He certainly needs trust. But, that is gained by transparency. That is gained by a 3rd part audit of his bullion holdings. The only issue I see with this asset is the total asset count doesn't equal his current holdings. This makes the audit harder. Although, I guess there is no way with the ASSET exchange to adjust the number of shares (ounces in his case) based on his warehoused bullion.

I am officially done after this comment, this is exactly why miners mine you numbskull lolololol

hence the mega dumpage of easily mined coins..

You get no more reply from me.

The purpose of mining is to secure the blockchain.  Clearly you do not even have a concept of what that means.

It blows my mind that someone can be so ignorant and so arrogant at the same time.

Given your supposition that a fully mined coin is dead, isn't EVERY cryto coin headed there? Whether it is 3 months, 3 years, or 3 decades? When bitcoin is fully mined, there will be no more miners, hence no transactions, hence the coin is dead. How is that rectified?

For example, NXT is 100% in existence (I think it's 1billion). The genesis block created 100% of the coins, and NO  MORE coins will ever be created. There are Zero miners. Does this mean NXT starts failed?
1808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 22, 2014, 08:37:45 PM
I'm trying to get over an issue of PoS coins. If I have 500k coins, why should I distribute any if I'm going to profit by forging?

presumably because there are things that you value more highly than money in the future. i mean you do know that you are going to die someday right?

I don't know, technology might one day have the capacity to make us immortal Wink

I see what you're saying. Eventually, a holder is going to want to spend those coins. Otherwise, they're just watching numbers go up

I'm trying to get over an issue of PoS coins. If I have 500k coins, why should I distribute any if I'm going to profit by forging?

If only 20 people have all the coins, and they are just holding them, then they really aren't worth anything.

Yeah I thought about it like this, but wasn't satisfied with the explanation. Obviously, 20 people are not holding this coin

Right, just do what works for you.
1809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: May 22, 2014, 08:26:29 PM
Also, there was talk of moving this to a PoS system as well. So, that gives incentive for people to maintain the network.

Hey, what ever happens, happens. I've realized profit cause I bought LOW and sold some HIGH.

It's a fun past time no matter what happens. 100% of cryto coins are still a huge experiment.

Be fast, only 54 out of 140 coins left ! Also take note that you'll pay a little bit less by paying via Bitcoin or Litecoin

Are there updated prices based on BTC current $520 US value?

It's still very early days for this coin.  As long as support for it continues it has a bright future.  People are dumping coins to buy BTC/DRK etc - whatever is up right now.  Those same people will be buying NAUT when it goes up.   The initial price explosion was artificial anyway and never sustainable.  Rather than panicking those of us who see a future for this coin should use the opportunity to buy it up cheaply.  There are no guarantees but the old rule of buy low and sell high generally works.

Yes, typical dumb money. They buy whatever is UP, and sell whatever is LOW! The smart money does the opposite, preying on the dumb money and making wads of cash.
1814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: May 22, 2014, 05:37:30 PM
FYI we have been buying as much as we can, but clearly we are seeing the limitations of only a 1% pre-mine.

The "stabalization fund" was created by premining NAUT.  So it is denominated in NAUT.  So how are you using it to buy NAUT?

The fund SELLS and then BUYS for a lower price than it sold for. So, the fund holds both NAUT and BTC.
1815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: May 22, 2014, 05:35:54 PM
How the hell did 2million (About 15%) of the coins get mined in just 1-2 weeks?

Do people seriously not read the announcements?  It's right there, spelled out:

159.39 coins per block
1440 blocks per day

That's 229,521.6 coins PER DAY

3,213,302.4 coins in 2 weeks.

You missed the 1% reduction every week. current block reward is 157.9561 NAUT.

How is the number of coins determined? I thought it would be based on the reduction. But, I'm not sure.

There is also a transaction fee that miners make, .01 NAUT per transaction. So, if the coin is highly transacted, then there will be fees for miners to maintain the blockchain and gain coin.

Want to own a piece of this? Asset ID: 7819056276221630295

Tokens should be hitting the asset exchange any minute now!

Cool! My silver bar looked so beautiful, I bet its melted by now Smiley

Initial demand was good for my tokens, but unfortunately to cover my costs I've had to sell my tokens at above the current price for silver (the price of silver also fell since I bought my bar).

I think once a few more sellers appear, and the price of silver goes back up a bit, the price for silver tokens on anon's silver gateway will track the spot price closely.

It was/is cool to feel the *power* of a monopolist for a while lol

no it isn't melted. i would have to take a hacksaw to it and that would make a bunch of shavings, very valuable shavings. so the big bar just went in the safe and i pulled out 100 ounces of random rounds. santa clause, marry cristmass, happy birthday type rounds. I've been melting those down. If i do ever get to the point where i have to hack up that bar, ill probably have to figure out some way to make sure that i catch all of the shavings. Maybe ill sit inside a childrens swimming pool while i do it Tongue. Either way this is all so fun. I hope the community stays interested long enough for this to work.

sorry to hear that Sad

My hope is that they will diverge from spot and my price can become a better indicator Cheesy. Hey i can dream right.

I appreciate what you are trying to do here. But I'm curious, why add all the work and overhead of melting the silver and making your own bars. Wouldn't it be easier to just buy silver rounds/bars, warehouse them and tie the assets to that storage?
1818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: May 22, 2014, 02:54:53 PM
Oh, and there is another factor for the price drop, the price of BTC which has gone up from 445 to 520 in the past few days.

To the guy that is worried about his car? Any cryto coin is 100% speculation and you should not use money that you can't afford to lose.
1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 22, 2014, 03:58:04 AM
first 2 bars ready to ship to the first person who can acquire 10 tokens Grin

pictures will be posted shortly

I'm curious. The .1 you sent me, what does that equate to. .1 oz?

it sure does.

so how many do I need to get a bar?

-bm

10 troy ounces is the minimum order. i set it like that because i wanted to make it so simple that customers could just buy the tokens, send them to me along with their postal address and get silver. that means shipping has to be built in. which means there is a built in transfer of value from people who make smaller orders to people who make larger orders. i cant do away with that entirely without actually charging for shipping, but by setting the minimum order to 10 I mitigate it substantially. That way i can keep things super simple and my customers never even have to think about shipping.

ya that's one way to do it, probably better way is to just charge a fee if you want to cash out.

currently, your OZ is trading at 22.849 usd, which is well above spot price 19.42 usd (atow).  It's going to be hard to market that.

-bm

charge a fee in what? tell them that they have to understand some arcane fee structure in order to acquire silver? tell them that they have to send me 11 ounces of silver tokens inorder to aquire 10 ounces of silver? or that they have to send nxt also? im trying to make this simpler and more user friendly than any service that has ever come before it.

yes the price is high because right now there is only one seller. monopolies tend to yield high prices. more sellers will be coming online shortly. there are packages in transit that just haven't arrived yet.

Anon, could you include a link in the Asset description with a realtime NXT price for 1 oz silver? E.g. get a current price, divide by bitcoin-price, divide by nxt-price. Then display that. That would be great...

I don't know how to do that but ill give 1000 nxt to the first person who can give me a little piece of code that I can insert into my web page that would maintain a constant, real time, updated price of silver in nxt. if someone wants to take this on, please use bitstamp for the price of bitcoin and bter for the price of nxt.

Not a problem. I can send you something. Have friday off, I can do it then.
1820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 21, 2014, 07:46:13 PM
What's up with BTER. The top NXT Bid = Ask (7800). Shouldn't that auto fill?
