WE NEED A BETTER BLOCK EXPLORER WITH A RICHLIST!!!

Patience! If I can fake it, you can too.

presstab, I have a thought. I don't know if it's desirable, or even feasible, but it's been swimming in my head all day, so y'all are stuck with it Cheesy

Would it make things work better to put a 1 day maturity in for say 30 days? Same interest rate, just faster maturity to get the block chain rolling. I'm not even close to good enough at code to know if this is doable or worthwhile, but there it is.

Yeah I would just have to modify the stake modifier interval, but this requires a hard fork. So going through the hassle of getting everyone to switch clients etc, etc.

Probably not worth it then. Got that out of my system Tongue

Hello My first amount went in on 8th of June but nothing has staked and no tek babies have been made. How do I make my wallet to stake and make Tek babies because I feel sad there are no babies in my wallet and it is over 30 days. 8th Jnue the first Tek coins went in wallet. Cry Can someone help me please?  Smiley

It's only the tenth. Make sure your wallet is unlocked and open, and wait. It will come. 30 days is not exact. The amount of stake will be correct for the time it actually takes to stake.
1885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHA]SHACoin - 2.0.0.0 - Returned from the Dead on: July 11, 2014, 01:21:31 AM
I am a student of the dismal science. Particularly, the Austrian school.

Warren Buffet is correct. Bitcoin has no intrinsic value.

Neither does any alternate currency. Neither do any fiat currencies, Gold, Silver, Platinum, Ruby, Diamond...
There is no such thing as intrinsic  value. A thing is valuable because a person assigns a value to it. ALL value systems are artifice.

Now, there are certain things that are true and not necessarily relevant. Does Gold have an intrinsic value? No, it does not. Does it function well as a transactional instrument due to certain qualities that make it desirable? YES.

Now, does Bitcoin satisfy those needs as well as or to a roughly equivalent degree? At this time in history, I would have to say yes, it does. However, at the moment it does NOT satisfy those needs as well as the fiat/credit system.

Don't get me wrong. I am strongly in favor of bitcoin and similar currencies. I think it's probably the best solution to the problems associated with long distance commerce, as it has the absolute fungibility of precious metals, without the headache of physical storage, armed guards, etc. It doesn't have the faults of a fiat currency, either. No central issuing authority, no inflation beyond it's intial minting, etc. Some coins reintroduce some of those variables, and in interesting possibly gainful ways. For instance, SHA is minted by holding a stake. As are several other popular coins. This is inflationary, but possibly not to a detrimental extent.

But all of this gives way before the biggest fundamental flaw of most if not all cryptocurrencies, INCLUDING bitcoin. They are not generally accepted as currency, therefore they are traded amongst a rather small group of people. This means that they have little utility at the moment. This, I think, needs addressed above all other things. The crypto that you can take to the corner market is the crypto that will replace fiat. While I think that will not be Bitcoin, I also think that bitcoin will continue to be a store of value for a very long time.
1886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - Fast High Reward PoS - Advanced Wallet - Fun Community. V1.4 on: July 10, 2014, 11:32:29 PM
Wow HBN is sure took a beating this month.  Beating might not be the right word...decimation perhaps?  It's a shame because the coin itself, and especially the wallet, are great.

I'm beginning to think maybe the PoS rewards might be too high though. Anyone else?  I think it is so high that it will just inflate the coin lower and lower, unless a) bitcoin usd/btc price nose dives  or b) a huge expansion of the number of places you can spend HBN on products happens.

PoS rewards cost next to 0 energy to make, so basically, users get 'free coins' after investing. Because there is no cost (in power ) to produce the coins though, and nowhere (hardly) to spend them on any products, the only real option is to trade HBN for BTC. So there is a huge downward pressure on the price, that so far, has only been avoided by newcomers & investors coming to the coin to buy initial staking amounts. But in real basic terms there is more pressure to sell then there are buyers. I'm pro HBN and pro PoS but do now think if the PoS rate of return is too high, it will be detrimental to the price, not beneficial. I think half the rate PoS from what HBN has would be better.

I'm rooting for this coin and holding lots still, but sure is tough for [any] alts when there are now over 250 (or whatever, didn't check) coins out there. Maybe a team member whose role is just promoting HBN could have a big impact... I always think of Doge: the coin itself was nothing special at all, one of a hundred, but it took off with such great advertising and community growth.

Whatever the case may be, good job Tranz, the wallet is awesome.

Every coin I hold has taken a beating since 1st July. I think we're seeing profit taking more than anything fundamental to the coin.

That being said, you are right and then some about one thing, and it's not just this coin. There is not enough merchant support. I think that is the next thing that MUST be addressed by the crypto community. BTC you can buy shit with, so all coins end up being BTC sooner or later. Not the proper situation if you are doing something more than a fun experiment. HBN is a very well devleloped coin, with active support by it's dev team and a good many outsiders. It, and a few others, need to be pushed into the real world as transactional instruments. I actually think the high staking could end up being a huge asset for that very purpose, as merchants who accept payment in a high staking PoS coin are likely able to profit beyond just the sale, and in turn can offer discounts because of it.

If HBN were accepted at, say, Starbucks, do you think there would be a constant selloff? Or would buy pressure rise? I know which way I think it would go Cheesy

What is "NOMP"?

Cheesy

I told raskul to come here, and I know he's been up for a really long time today, so I'll fix that. Payout is prop, NOMP is the pool software. Tired man's typo.

hmmm I've got an issue. Somehow my client has lost 11K coins. It says I have 73k but when I dumped my tx's and took out the orphans etc my total came out to 84k (which is what I had but the client shows different now)

Any thoughts?
A thought, yes. I'm on the wrong machine to double check it, but it may be that they are in stake and not showing because of it. Do you have coin control active?
1889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Proof of Stake | 750% Annual | Trading on Coin-Swap on: July 10, 2014, 11:10:52 PM
cool thanks!

This happens with new coins all the time. They vary on how long it takes to get the chain moving but they are always slow at first.

Especially PoS coins.

presstab, that raises a question: Might I safely assume that transactions will be slow as hell until there are more stakes spread out over the network? Or will the chain generate empty blocks? I'm still figuring this PoS shit out Cheesy
1890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TEKcoin Fast,Fair with high interest payments on: July 10, 2014, 10:22:58 PM
What determines when an amount stakes once it gets older than 43200 confirms?

Thanks, Jason
Posted from Bitcointa.lk - #kYgHKMjT66LJUs73

It's based on time, not blocks. Presstab showed me the exact line, but I forget. I think it's in this thread. If it goes to 30 days, it's eligible for stake. From there it's a matter of time. I don't know what, or if, there is a maximum maturity, but in my limited experience, it hits the threshold and you don't have to wait long. However, on small amounts, it does tend to (again in my limited experience) produce and orphan once, and then a properly confirmed stake shortly after the network rejects the orphan. (2 out of three stakes  at less than 3 tek apiece).

I contacted unick and he rebooted the server.

Crazy how things are going;
MINT explorer is done by Unick. Explorer down, people complains, dev says he is powerless, I contact Unick, a bare two hours later, it is on.
TEK explorer is done by Unick. Explorer down, people complains, dev says he is powerless, I contact Unick, a bare two hours later, it is on.

Please explain.
(same went for TEK, HBN, CAP, PHS getting listed on allcoin. People speaking about getting listed on other echanges for day, one mail from me and this is done - I don't understand)

Maybe you're just that good! Cheesy

What about Earthcoin for example? or any other cheap crap coin who maybe exploding in future. I know that most Altcoins will die but maybe i hit a jackpot, who knows ^^

Until just lately, I was part of the earthcoin dev team. I highly recommend the team Cheesy The coin is being reevaluated, and they are working on several things to try and boost it up and make it better. I'm no longer on the team due to too many obligations, but what the hell? It's not a staking coin, so holding it pretty much means storing a wallet.dat file at this juncture. If it goes to 10 sats you make a killing at the current prices, and it was historically over 500.
1893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin sha256 PoS/Pow 40% SuperStake in 30 days on: July 10, 2014, 06:59:02 PM
Up til now, all of my stakes have been on small blocks. I can't remember the exact times, but they staked within a short period from eligibility. They were also all on the old wallet, so I didn't have the "weight" information, nor do I really understand how it works. But they staked fine, and I'm pretty sure the longest was ~34 days.

I'm a few days out from a much larger block. I'll keep y'all posted Cheesy
1894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Proof of Stake | 750% Annual | Fun Economics Experiment on: July 10, 2014, 06:45:15 PM
I seem to be the only one who caught this in the initial post

"After buying into TruckCoin and seeing the diminishing exchange rate because of lack of dev support, we decided to take things into our own hands."

So you bought into truck coin... allot, and when you realized you were losing your cash you forked it and added a super PoS, made a "new" coin and are selling it off to people .

No ones else sees whats going on here?
what is your point exactly.yes they made it quite clear what they are doing.truck continues on as is.and we get a new coin.i dont see the problem

I met presstab via TEK, where he redesigned the wallet and did some other dev work. While he's no longer in that project, I have since interacted with him a number of times. He's no scammer. Just a guy that likes to fiddle with the gears Cheesy Being of the same mind, minus the skillz, I'm in because of who the dev is, more than anything to do with the coin dynamics. If he makes some money on it, more power to him. If not, well, it's still an interesting experiment.

Just a few questions:

When will ABC be launched? By soon do you mean a day/week/s?

How much coins will be included in the ICO? Will you offer escrow?

Will there be a premine alongside the ICO?

Any info on specs (block rewards, block time, min/max stake age)?

Thanks.

We hope to get the IPO portion of the coin launched by the 15th.

We hope to offer escrow.

There will be 200k Pow and 300k will technically be premine. We will have a generous distribution though,

The PoW phase will last 7 days and will have a total of 200,000 ABC in block rewards.

We will get the exact coin specs posted as soon as possible.

Thanks for the reply, may I ask whats with the high premine? Could you provide alittle detail on how the funds from the ICO are going to be used. A well-detailed roadmap of what funds are going to be used for gains Our trust. As you know not alot of people like premined coins.

Yes, we will provide some better details tomorrow.

There is going to be two rounds of dismemberment after the PoW phase has ended.

Also, we hope to provide everyone that roadmap very soon. Smiley

Dismemberment???

as long as I ain't the vic, I may be in just for that comment  Cheesy

Cryptogir, I am pretty sure you have had time to read the forum as you were seen to be online few hours ago. You need to say something, or get someone to do it on your behalf.

I am not going to bother you with a PM, but i would like to read your statement, what is going on with development? People start loosing patience here

who are you going to loose your patience on ? And exactly how would you do that?

LOSE, people. Loose is how your tie is. Or perhaps your grasp on reality...

</rant>

On topic. CryptoGir has a job, a family, and a life. The coin is designed to grow slowly for a LONG time. Don't be in such a hurry.

Oh, and remember: It's open source. CG Loosed it into the wild, y'all can run with it any way you feel like. Not saying he would do this, but if he did just bail, it would only hurt the coin because YOU think it will. In the end, the staking works, the blockchain is solid, and the coin is now listed on several exchanges. Don't wait for it to happen, make it happen.

Alright took out the seconds condition mentioned above and can confirm that is what was causing the wallet to show out of sync even though in sync.

New upload? or is this still in progress? I just finally got the 1.0 wallet installed Tongue Synched right up to where everyone else is. Claims I'm going to stake in 32 minutes, but unless you changed the stake times, that shouldn't be right. Hope it is, though Cheesy

Nope right now you need your blocks to be about 9 days old. The code actually has it set for 8 hours from truckcoin, but there is an error that prevents staking from occuring until 9 days about. I have noticed this in other PoS coins that are under 9 day minimum stake.

So right now the GUI is calculating those numbers based off of 8 hour stake instead of 9 day.  I am going to change the gui to calc from 9 day for now. And am actually working on sorting out the errors as we speak... but it is getting complicated real quick.

And yes the syncing icon switch is commited to github but not released.

cool beans.

I'm glad I didn't get too far behind. Been a rough, busy day for me. This is my fun spot at the moment.

That was TamB. See why I stepped aside? She's a fireball, but reluctant to take credit. She's been working on this for a while.
