Is it wrong to ask your significant other to call you Satoshi in the sack?

"naka....Naka...NAKA-AIYEEEEEEEEE!"

So now he suddenly doesn't exist. Gimme some of what you are smoking, Gage, cause I would like to imagine that quite a few people no longer exist, especially Mr. President and all his cronies.

Okay, rjk! Quick beating around the bush. Tell me exactly why you currently have the red-ass for me. No need to hold anything back, for this 52-year-old-fart will be able to handle it. I promise not to attack your answer, but simply accept it, then move on.

Thanks, bud.

~Bruno~

I think you are barking up the wrong tree.

Sorry, I don't employ people that sound as if they are axe murderers behind their online personas. Generally what shows through online translates fairly closely to what gets demonstrated in real life.
1885  Other / Beginners & Help / Membergroups; or: Why do some users get colored coins under their names? on: June 09, 2012, 10:09:25 PM
Mod edit: The information about ranks is outdated and no longer accurate, see this thread for up to date information

So you may be wondering whether you should trust someone based on those fancy coins under their name, or perhaps their post count. The short answer is: Do not use these rankings to determine trust!
This post is intended to show you as a future trader how easy it is to get a rank, so that you can be wiser when conducting a trade. As a side note, I always recommend using escrow when possible, especially when you have not previously traded with someone. Always read their posts in their profile to help determine whether they are contributing positively and to attempt to determine trust. Search the forums for more detail and read the other stickies relating to trading discussions and trust.

All the main ranks that can be handed out to normal users are: Brand New, Newbie, Jr. Member, Full Member, Sr. Member, and Hero Member.
Special notes for Newbie status: If a user has been whitelisted manually by forum administration, they will retain Newbie status regardless of their post count, until they have fulfilled a minimum of 4 hours logged in.

In addition to the main rankings, there are also sub-rankings that can be applied, and those are: SCAMMER, Donator, and VIP. Besides the colors, Donators and VIPs get other perks such as access to a secret subforum dedicated to them, and the ability change their usernames whenever they want from within their profiles. SCAMMERs have several restrictions, but are still allowed to post unless they are banned for another reason. SCAMMERs cannot change their profile (including signature, avatar, etc), cannot edit their posts later, and other things.

Finally, staff sub-rankings are as follows: Staff, Moderator, Global Moderator, Administrator, and Founder. Staff members have access to a special "Staff" board where forum moderation is discussed, as well as to the Donator board. Any staff member can whitelist a newbie, just ask!

1886  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner modular FPGA/GPU overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC Linux/Windows 2.4.2 on: June 09, 2012, 09:45:56 PM
This is a BitForce FPGA, correct? You can send me the core dump (I imagine it's too big for email), but I'm not sure it will be of much use since you're running on Windows - perhaps I can pick out some strings from it. It does contain all your pool login info, note.
Yes it is, and the GPUMAX login for the worker is different than for the website login, so not a problem there. Dump is 20ish MB, I'll see if I can upload it somewhere and give you the link.

EDIT: Not sure if the dump is any good, when I open it in Visual Studio, it says: You cannot debug a 64-bit dump of a 32-bit process, you must collect a 32-bit dump of a 32-bit process. But I'm not sure how to do that.
1887  Other / Meta / Re: Ranks on: June 09, 2012, 09:34:07 PM
Nice table! There's also:
Brand new - 0 posts -
Founder - For Satoshi - (platinum coins)

There used to be a "Whitelisted" main group with two coins, but membership in this group is always hidden nowadays.
Updated, thanks for the info.

EDIT: Can't seem to figure out why the first column width won't go any wider, I'm trying to make "Global Moderator" so it doesn't wrap, but can't seem to manage it.
1888  Other / Meta / Re: Ranks on: June 09, 2012, 09:13:03 PM
That table deserves to be stickied at the newbie section.
Good idea. I just updated it a bit more; if a mod wants to post it there and stick it, that would be fine with me. I block the newbie board because it is annoying, so I won't post it there.
1889  Other / Meta / Re: Ranks on: June 09, 2012, 08:37:19 PM
This is about the best explanation I've seen so far for the ranking system. Definitely sticky-worthy!
Thanks! I just gave it some table love. Wink

We can't Sad

We absolutely would if we could, but the forum software can't give different limits for different usergroups. Even the mods and admins have to deal with the limit.
Makes me wonder.... Would it not be possible for the mods/admins to get their own group, even if it was identical to the default group? I've not used the software from an admin standpoint so I'm not sure how it works.

Now let's compare all three images

Get a life, Gage, and go find a hooker. Or give Chicago Cabbie his wallet. Either way, don't you have some barns to look at instead of wasting time here?
1893  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the longest blockchain fork that has been orphaned to date? on: June 09, 2012, 06:59:18 PM
I remember hearing about an Ozcoin stack of orphans that was 9 blocks, apparently AU got somewhat partitioned off the network from the rest of the world. That was a long time ago. I don't know of any greater than that.

The reason for me posting this is that I have reason to believe that Zhou Tong may not be the going-on-18-year-old-kid we've been led on to believe.

I always thought that to be the case. As soon as I heard talk about regulating bitcoin from the Britcoin/InterSango/Bitcoinica Consultancy clique, I knew they were also part of the freemasonic banker clique and never trusted them. His back story is super weak: one of a lonely young Chinese nerd and that just magically out of nowhere becomes a fan of bitcoin. If he was really as simple in the ways of the world he would have never heard of bitcoin, he'd be working in a cubicle somewhere.

Zhou is a creation kinda like Mark Zuckerberg is, except he's not even a real person.
Also, I ran out of tinfoil. You guys got any you can spare?
1897  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner modular FPGA/GPU overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC Linux/Windows 2.4.2 on: June 09, 2012, 06:36:35 PM
How about some screenshot action. This is what keeps happening, and this time I decided to make a core dump of the process. The command window when I found it was not accepting button presses, so it seems that the mining process had frozen entirely. Since the U number was so low, it was obvious that the process had continued to run even after the unit stopped hashing, and froze much later - the U is normally around 11-12, and the average hash rate is normally around 865 not 675. As you can see from the screenshot, the last LP that it reported before it froze was at 13:53:09 Eastern Time, and it had stopped considerably before that although I'm not sure when. Screenshot was taken at around 14:30.

In addition, the secondary internal red light on the BFL unit was steady on, and not blinking every 5 seconds as expected. It also was idling and not running at full burn or stuck in a loop. Normally when the machine is idle, the internal red light goes dim.

I am not sure what the core dump contains, so I won't post it, but if Con, Kano, or Luke-Jr want to see it just ask and I will send it over.

1899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Namecoin v3.50 : faster & better on: June 09, 2012, 06:03:48 PM
My favorite use-case that I hope can be widely implemented is that of storing a public key fingerprint in the Namecoin system. This is how you can kill off the CA system and still be secure.

What needs to be done to make this happen? I'm not familiar with how the CA system works in detail, but I do know that the cost of it can be a real burden for smaller websites.

The main thing is a way to validate it on the client side. The storage of the fingerprint in the Namecoin system already works.
1900  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: YubiKey Security on: June 09, 2012, 06:02:00 PM
Can mtgox share this improvement they found all by themselves?
They didn't invent any new improvement, they are simply using it to it's full extent and not cutting corners in the deployment of the system. If you need more details, read the technical docs.
