2202  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Algorithmically placed FPGA miner: 245MH/s/chip and still rising on: June 01, 2012, 12:20:40 AM
So what is finally here? Apparently nothing...

Exactly my thinking.

The message It is finally here! is displayed on the screen, but, except for a link to this thread, nothing else.
No image. No clickable link. No order page. No info page. Nothing.
It's because of javascript fail...

Read the source code - you will see that the time is supposed to be midnight PDT, but for some reason your browser isn't telling you that. Mine still shows 6 hours or so to go.
2203  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PSU Ampere Calculation (on the wall with 230V) ?? on: May 31, 2012, 10:56:38 PM
PSUs that allow a range of voltage without a switch tend to become more efficient as the voltage rises, due to how they work internally. Likely, that 5.5 is just an absolute max, and not what it will be pulling. Try it and see.

Additionally, the efficiency also varies with load - so with a different load and a different voltage, you could get a very different efficiency.

11 Amps at 100 volts is also a worst case scenario. All those are based on full load, and running at full load often reduces the efficiency a lot in less-expensive PSUs.

2207  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of scammers! on: May 31, 2012, 09:59:52 PM
I purchased some Magic: the Gathering Online tickets from Alarmoz (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=55563) a few days ago and just today got contacted by Wizards about the tickets being stolen and my account being under investigation.  I suspect they will take the tickets back from me.

Perhaps a short review of what his personality was all about here before investing? All posts have been about selling easily stolen online deliveries or buying btc for reversible PayPal. What did you expect?

I didn't really care to check since he gave first and as far as I knew, MTGO tickets were irreversible.  Apparently they are not, however, after discussing with the Wizards support, they're going to let me keep the tickets.  His MTGO id was 'cyntrez', but I suspect he is banned by now.
Looks like he is back, bumping his threads with impunity.

2209  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin card for deposit and payment + Little POS on: May 31, 2012, 09:53:28 PM
OK, so the password is hard coded into the QR code, and the POS terminal is trusted not to steal funds. It could work IRL, because an evil POS terminal the stole things would be very obvious, and less likely to happen when a customer is there. However, sending the funds back to the same address is the problem - you have to assume the POS deletes the keys once it has finished with them, but what happens if it doesn't? Or what happens if it is hacked somehow?
2210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A day in the life of a pirate. on: May 31, 2012, 09:33:41 PM
My personal estimation is that it may wind down, perhaps in the distant future, but I have faith in Pirate never defaulting against his creditors.
2211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A day in the life of a pirate. on: May 31, 2012, 09:10:32 PM
(and while starfish are often idiots, this one expects some sort of disruption to the economy when BS&T finally closes it's doors)
Is that actually in the cards, or do you not think it can last long either?
2212  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] HD 5970 cards on: May 31, 2012, 09:01:27 PM
Not interested in those old work horses but I must say, very artsy pix of the 5970s, well done... what kind of camera is that?

lol, shoulda moved the thread instead of posting another one. Check for another thread by the same poster in the computer hardware section, and there is a whole discussion about it in there. Short answer: Canon 1Ds MkII.
2213  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitForce SC - full custom ASIC on: May 31, 2012, 08:57:46 PM
BTC-engineer or BFL please tell us if the announcement will be somewhere close from this date or close to the end of the month. We all know that waiting sucks a lot! Thank you.
FYI, BTC-Engineer and BFL-Engineer are not the same.
2214  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Mr Bitcoins - Buy Bitcoin Fast, Safe and Anonymously - Same Day Delivery on: May 31, 2012, 08:53:59 PM
Another typo: "make bank deposite"

I also notice you've copied everything on your site from Spend Bitcoins - right down to the example bitcoin address (which is actually a real address controlled by Spend Bitcoins). Roll Eyes
lol epic fail. I didn't even look at the site at first due to it's targeting AU users, but damn.. It doesn't look like everything is copied, but that is an awesome example.

Quality / Unique hand crafted items (Any Amish Here?)

You mean those people who ride around in horse driven carts, and build their houses without electricity or any technology whatsoever? I'm sure there's heaps of them posting on this internet forum lol

Brother Zebadiah, do you take bitcoins from the English?  Grin
Nay, Brother, I only generate my own untainted blocks from the heavenly sunlight and/or wind. Grin
2216  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Algorithmically placed FPGA miner: 245MH/s/chip and still rising on: May 31, 2012, 08:23:24 PM
My clock shows somewhat under 4 hours.
I'm guessing that on whatever platform you are using, the javascript doesn't have access to the time zone setting on your computer. Either that, or the time zone setting is wrong on your computer.
2217  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [ANN] 700,000 Cash Deposit Locations in Brazil, Russia, USA - BitInstant on: May 31, 2012, 08:21:17 PM
Yeah I can see where confusion would set it for a new user. No user that I know of does a lot of reading before poking buttons, so what I would suggest is that you use the above suggestion to call the button "get quote" or something like that, and perhaps a popup help tip that tells the user they will be redirected to the ZipZap site to complete the transaction.

It's a shame that there isn't a way to make it completely integrated so no one ever leaves the Bitinstant site. That would be totally the best solution, but I'm assuming the only reason you haven't done that is because ZipZap won't let you.
2218  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Algorithmically placed FPGA miner: 245MH/s/chip and still rising on: May 31, 2012, 08:02:51 PM
Four hours to go?
My clock shows 11 hours Sad
Same here, the javascript code says midnight GMT minus 7 hours, so I'm not sure what's wrong lol
2219  Other / Off-topic / Re: humanitarian expedition to Kenya - looking for donations on: May 31, 2012, 08:00:01 PM
Can I ask why you dont simply do humanitarian aid in your own country? Surely there is alot of poor and sick people in slovenia that could really appreciate the same help.

I just find it so redundant that everyone from outside africa seem to think that only africa needs help.
I just find it so redundant that those inside of africa don't feel the need to help the poor starving noobs.

lol kidding, don't kill me Grin
