1901  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An obvious rigging of Sports. on: April 20, 2021, 10:33:46 AM
I wonder what convinced the referee and others that the match was fixed? I expect a skilled observer to compare each team/player past performance and their performances in the match in order to have some idea whether they cheated or not. They also need to know the betting site where such bet is alleged to have taken place... I'd guess lot more people will bet or money will be staked on the team the betting site's customers are expecting to win/lose. In regards to bribing a team/player , it's possible that one team or some players are paid to lose or play poorly.   So, they could somehow determine this by comparing the  past performances of players who played suspiciously in the match.
1902  Economy / Economics / Re: an economic thought experiment on: April 20, 2021, 09:44:23 AM
I think I would simply judge this based on the total supply (whether in bits or sats,) and how much of the bits are rewarded to people compare to their total supply, if alot of numbers are rewarded to people compared to the numbers of supply, I would still view it scarce. So the reward has to be quite low (may 1 thousand 'coins' every 10 minutes Plus lots available supply)for me to consider it not scarce.
1903  Other / Archival / Re: What does being a Dogecoin millionaire feel like? on: April 20, 2021, 09:06:07 AM
What useful and unique services does this cryptocurrency offers by the way? Is it better and safer than Bitcoin? What really matters to me is how much it can do, what it can do and how safe it is. If you don't invest based on use-cases and fundamentals, you could aswell create a  coin with no use case, mine/buy lots of it and get many people to invest & increase its price within a short time, and you become a millionaires out of something with better alternatives or with no very unique/useful usecase.
1904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance CEO: ‘I Would Bring Traditional Financial Regulations To Crypto’ on: April 19, 2021, 04:14:08 PM
One of the best ways to safely handle the regulation issue is to Properly Decentralize and make provisions for governments to join millions of network participants to regulate the decentralized space. The rules for regulation have to be in harmony with the ideals/principles of truely decentralized cryptocurrency.
His moving from one country to another doesn't sound sustainable long-term.

What do you think about the new free Internet from Elon Musk? Is it true that you can connect to it for free? Or maybe we need to buy special equipment to catch the Internet from its satellites?
Never rely in free internet because this is not that safe and protected , you wanted to have free net but you are risking your accounts to be hacked and your privacy to be invaded?

Lots of them are packaged as free internet whereas their providers profit from it, like making money with users data or through other means... this should disqualify them as being free internet.  I believe things that are truely free should be free without any hidden means to make money off the users of the free things
1906  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think about Gay community ? on: April 19, 2021, 03:24:18 PM
"He who have no sin should cast the first stone."—JESUS.

It's actually dangerous thing to judge people in hypocrisy. Fornication and adultery are as bad as gay issue yet we don't see people getting killed for the sexual sin.
I strongly believe that homosexuality/gay is a spiritual issue that can be permanently cure by being born-again. It can be cure within a short time, but only GOD can do that. Sinners have been given a Saviour (JESUS CHRIST) to permanently and quickly save them from their pit of corruption.
1907  Economy / Economics / Re: Charlie Munger: "Bitcoin is an artificial substitute for Gold" on: April 19, 2021, 03:14:17 PM
Actually if Bitcoin has a robust self-sustaining economy, participants/users wouldn't worry too much about what Business men who are used to the traditional financial systems have to say.
Though I agree that the volatility aspect needs to be checked to make it a good medium of exchange and not just store of value

1910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin wallet help on: April 16, 2021, 05:08:31 PM
There is nothing you are missing than the seed phrase is not correct, possibly as a result of mistake done somewhere, maybe while you backup the seed phrase.
No mistake was there. I'm sure I'm missing something technical issue. I have successfully synced the wallet with mobile and it is the same wallet with my balance, I have sent my LTC to my exchange successfully.
But still, the electrum wallet isn’t working, I mean I can't get the same wallet in electrum.
Maybe seed key generated with mobile wallet (litewallet) isn’t compatible with electrum for some reason.
As I said above, the key is written as paper key in the mobile wallet. Is it the same?

How many words/numbers do the key have? I want to be sure it's really the "seed words" (seed phrase ?) that's really written as "paper key" .  Wrong\incorrect\fake keys could be part of the reasons you couldn't click the  Next Button after typing in the words/keys. And i also hope you downloaded the right things from the right sources.

I may not be available to reply you soon. Hope other members can help concerning the Next Button issue and others
1911  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Simple Tips to make a fire-proof Cryptocurrency Wallet on: April 16, 2021, 03:49:57 PM
I haven't done this before but I know it will work because it's a common sense idea.

How to do This
Get a flat scrap metal, write your private keys on it with a sharp/strong metal to make the keys hard to clear off over time. Write down as many private keys as possible on the metal, then bury it in the ground somewhere safe . You can always dig up the metal whenever you want to copy some private keys that cointain coins you want to spend in the near future . Bury back the metal after copying some keys on something like paper, your jotter, etc.  Once the coins are spent, dig up the metal and cancel the spent keys.

One of the main reasons I like this idea is because it puts the scrap metals lying around into good use rather having people mine new metals , waste energy for manufacturing  and then end up selling the metal for more $10,$50.

1912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how Bitcoin will deal with lost tokens? on: April 16, 2021, 02:54:00 PM
What happens to all the coins in lost wallets in the Bitcoin system? If there are only a finite number of coins, won't they become increasingly scarce as people lose them over time?

If the coins will never be accessed or moved again, that lessens the number of bitcoins that will ever be in circulation , increases scarcity and price (assuming  demand for the coin outweighs supply).
1913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: User bitcoin nodes are useless to the network on: April 16, 2021, 10:59:02 AM
I believe the consensus enforced by economic nodes("full activity nodes") have to be based on early Bitcoin standard... better still standards/features Satoshi wants for Bitcoin Network... Standards like transparency, censorship resistance, deflationary currency, permissionlessness/trustlessness, immutablity, anonymity/privacy, network consensus,  one vote per computer etc.
By the way, things could be redesigned in a way that encourages  most network participants  to become economic nodes (possibly nodes in hundreds of thousands/millions) without compromising on transactions speed and efficiency. More economic nodes would mean better decentralization and security.
1914  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does it still make sense to dollar cost average when the market is crazy bull? on: April 16, 2021, 10:31:14 AM
I don't know very much about dollar cost average,  i'd simply buy dips and sell when i need to or when i need coins for other important things. If the market keeps going up i would probably sell more of the dips i bought in the past. ..So,this's part of the reasons why it's important not to sell everything when price goes up significantly.
I would occasionally buy a coin  if i notice the project  continues to develop the right way ,as fast as possible. I would focus on investing in projects that can last long without compromising on community's ideals/principles.
1915  Economy / Economics / Re: Turkish Central Bank Forbids use of cryptocurrencies as a mean of Exchange. on: April 16, 2021, 10:07:40 AM
Can a bank forbid people from exchanging goods and services for any kind of reward? If a citizen chooses to be rewarded in his/her community's tokens or with other assets... they mean the citizen has broken  his country's law ?

Well, people could build Decentralized networks/systems/applications that can help "governments" regulate and earn from them  without  letting the governments  violent their good ideals/principles. People who use them to commit serious crimes could lose their right to be protected by the network, or their rights to the benefit from the ideals.
1916  Other / Off-topic / Re: Online game addiction on: April 16, 2021, 09:29:56 AM
The game he is addicted to is not the kind of game any kind of person should be playing, not to talk of getting addicted to. If the game is good/safe,  makes him productive, makes him a better person then i may consider him if he earns a living from it by playing it or something, maybe few hours  in a day (so that he can have time for other important things he need in his life.).

Unfortunately, i don't recommend violent video games to children no matter how much they earn from them. Game developers should focus  more on making games that solve important societal problems without making them boring to people. Games could be made to have non-lethal weapons... and such weapons should be targeted at characters that deserved to be caught. The caught criminal(alleged criminal ) should be given fair hearing when caught , and should be judged the right way under Just Law.  I believe this will teach kids how to solve crime problems justly and could keep them to be productive if such game is well made.

I would advice you to give him a productive tasks that you can reward him daily for doing it right. The task should be useful/good things he will like doing and getting rewarded for. Do it always while gradually making sure he spend less time on the game and more time on the production thing he earns rewards from . Find ways to teach or get him  use  his new skills to benefit society. That should develop his talents and eventually help him earn a living from other people .
1917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will greedy miners split the ETH blockchain after EIP-1559? on: April 15, 2021, 06:07:08 PM
lol hopefully they gonna do chain split and eth devs should switch to PoS like totally, getting tired of these fee problems and greedy miners, not to mention that even if the miner somehow be able to halt the upgrade of eth many people already migrating to BSC yet they are still persistent on trying to fill their pockets smh.

really shortsighted move by the miners they think they could keep the gas price high, it's just matter of time until either eth got upgraded or people move away from it.

It wouldn't be cost-effective for miners to split the ETH blockchain if the majority of people goes with the new chain. Miners would be forced to "play by the rules" or be left out of the game. Besides, PoS will entirely change ETH's economic model. This could lead miners to search for an alternative blockchain network to avoid losing profit. My guess is that ETH miners will adopt the ETC chain for their own benefit. It's a win-win situation for both Ethereum and Ethereum Classic in the long run.

What's matters now is the long term scalability of the ETH blockchain. Once ETH solves the "high fee" issue, mainstream adoption will flourish once again. The EIP-1559 is necessary for Ethereum to reach a wider audience. "De-Fi" won't work as intended with high fees in play. With how quickly Binance Smart Chain rose to glory, the Ethereum developer team has no choice but to go forward with the upgrade. Otherwise, ETH's dominance on the market will decline until one of its rivals becomes the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. I hope that doesn't happen in the future as developers and the community work together to make the Ethereum blockchain a better place. Just my thoughts Grin

I believe what is important is a Decentralized Network that will survive what is coming. ..better still, well Decentralized, anti-fragile and good  Network controlled by good\honest participants and rules.
1918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin problems that need to be solved on: April 15, 2021, 04:44:39 PM
If you don't want the content of your wallet to be seen by people you could give them new addresses. The Bitcoin Anonymity feature makes it hard for the public to link the account/wallet to your name.
By the way, it's better to have my accounts opened to  the public to watch than few privileged people accessing/watching my bank account secretly and without my permission.
Maybe we will have a feature in the future that makes it possible for individuals to cloak/hide the amount of money in their accounts, but the account will still publicly show that something/money is the wallet(but hidden). The only thing that could be visible are transactions from/to the owner's account and the amounts involved in the transactions. But if the transactions and transaction amounts are hidden then their immutablity will need to be guaranteed, so that security agencies and things like that can always go through the transaction records incase something happens .

In regards to the Blacklisting, that must be done with proofs of crime committed attached to owner's coins otherwise they could be considered mere allegations . By the way, it's better to have Decentralized, Public and Transparent communities/groups be assigned the responsibility of allowing or removing such tags on blacklisted coins
1919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is private and decentralized, ok but what if someone dies? on: April 15, 2021, 03:37:38 PM
How did i miss the "BItcoin is Private" part.
Is Bitcoin really private or Public ?

Well,it's actually  a Public network. A true Public Network for that matter. A true Public Network would typically be Opened to the public without much restrictions. Bitcoin is open to all and its principles like permissionless/trustlessness, transparent, censorship resistance etc prove it's Public.
I guess what op meant by private is the keys and other info own by private individuals on the Public Network

1920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin illicit transactions are less than 1% on: April 15, 2021, 03:02:24 PM
I wonder what exactly the researchers classified as "illicit".   I am more comfortable with the word Immoral than Illicit to make things easy to understand around the World. What is illicit to one society/person may not be illicit for another, but Immoral can be better way to classify illegal/evil things for all societies. This will be more useful in a decentralized global network like Bitcoin. If tyrannical government asks my Decentralized community to release an information about its cititizen, probably to get him/her jailed for illicit activities, i will likely refuse  if what the citizen is accused of is not bad/immoral.

By the way, I believe the percentage of immoral activities dark currencies like fiat are used for could be way higher than mere 5%
