Partial review of the bailout programs:

http://money.cnn.com/news/storysupplement/economy/bailouttracker/

Neil Barofsky's final estimate was around $23-29T.
So about US$200K per taxpayer?  The cure was worse than the disease.
Depends if you have more than 200k to your name or less.
Are the folks with over-under US$200K the one's in the game?
Seems that the folks who made out like bandits were those with the most negative $.
The more debt you got from the fed, the more you could make loaning out the zero interest money they were gifting to the uber-rich debtors.
The current winners are the folks with thousands of low interest mortgages and buying a hundred houses a day with this low interest debt.  Concentration of the debt personalizes the reward and socializes the risk.

A note of congratulations to team counterparty for a successful burn period.  Thank you for making it easier and better each day, you are heroes for taking this necessary challenge forward with such integrity and effectiveness.

The CFR on bitcoin at 23:00

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQj9sWawXBg&feature=c4-overview&list=UUL_A4jkwvKuMyToAPy3FQKQ

The whole video is worth watching to see how scumbags they are

Not real big on individual liberties, self-determination and free markets are they?

Who let these guys near the reins of power, they are downright dangerous, not to mention unelected.

More like "pre-elected".  Both main US parties draw heavily from the ranks of the CFR to fill their tickets.  The CFR is like the training ground for US politicians.

CFR are the intellectual and philosophical descendants of the Federal Reserve and the IMF.

Their plan includes using the IMF to regulate Bitcoin according to their published documents.
http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2248419

One mechanism for that would be to get Bitcoin to be legal tender for one of the member nations, that would allow the IMF to get involved.

Legal Tender is wicked law.
1946  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: February 03, 2014, 04:35:03 AM
Who bails out the Fed when it is insolvent.  If interest rates start climbing at all, it can wipe them out pretty swiftly.

The IMF?
The US Taxpayer?
Neither of these have the funds to do it.

I think the fed chooses the interest rate...

The fed *never* goes insolvent, they print whatever they want. The govt might very well. Inflation is the one they don't have any direct control over. They can report it how they wish though.

Fed chooses the target rate for bonds and the fed funds rate, the market chooses the actual rate for the bonds.
When buying slows the bond rate rises.  For the last few years, the fed has been buying the treasury bonds to keep to its target rate.
This tapering of the buying...  who in their right mind is going to pick up the slack?

No more news?  So I guess you can say he got away with it.

I wouldnt say that.

SoL is 5 years in the US for fraud.

But unless you get a collar while they have the money, it doesn't much matter.
If they have BTC, also, not easy to recover any loss.
1949  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 02, 2014, 02:50:23 PM
No argument for me..I am expecting up as I say... just noting that the $817 level I pointed out yesterday as being a potential resistance/pivot/support  level has indeed done so for the past 12 hours baring minor dips out but not out of the channels...  I am going to continue to track the pivots and levels I have posted and see how they continue to play out... as a bit o fun

LOL... u guessed 20 numbers between 725-991, added "-ish" to those numbers, called this a "channel" and now claim victory that the price hovered around one of your "-ish" guesses for 3 hours. On top of that you said "i expect it to go up but it could go sideways and here are some lower prices in case it falls."

Quick, sign me up for your newsletter, Nostradamus. Care to give us another $250 range guess in quatrain?

Oh dear , I am sorry
Thicker skin please.  Welcome to the internet.

I will continue to see if the pivots and SP/RS levels get hit and maybe post a highly condensed 1 line update or something as they either do or do not get hit

Very cool, thanks for sharing. Always appreciate concise TA.  I used to do programming for William O'Neil in the 90's for the institutional investor products so have a long interest in TA, though fundamentals (and news) rule when they are present.
And remember that on the internet the 1000 that will agree with you will silently nod and say nothing, and the 10 that don't will comment.

A few more blocks left to the end of burn period, yes?  (Or just end at the Superbowl kickoff) Wink

Thank you for these pictures.  They are the first I have seen of the fakes since they are using pictures of the real thing for advertising.  For one thing... the 2014 1 ozt piece is 10 Millibit not Quarter Bitcoin Shocked Other than that, yes the lettering is probably the most obvious difference, also the BTC is very different with its sharp edge rather than the sculpted roundness.  I see lots of other differences that are more subtle.

They will sound different and feel different too I would suspect.

Altcoins are going mental.

There is a scrypt coin launched 6 hours ago, has network hashrate of 5.5 Gh and difficulty over 80 with 100 coming in next dozen blocks.

Freaky unbelievable.
Yo the hash rates of new alts grows double exponentially and then falls 1500% in 4 days. Do you even history?

This one is special, none ever gained so huge hash rate and difficulty in first few hours, it's mental.

Not sure which one you're referring to but it's been an interesting day for alt releases all around --->
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=444549.0;topicseen

It's Saturncoin, yes.

This is how you kill a new alt yes?  Mine up the difficulty and then abandon it so the blocks stop?
1955  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Bitcoin Specie Project sponsored by the makers of New Liberty Dollar on: February 02, 2014, 05:28:09 AM
I'm seeing some eBay auctions listing "silver plated" rounds that have your design depicted.  It's nice to see the honesty of a declaration that they're a plated product, but disconcerting that they use the exact images of your coin...  Have you seen these, and if so, is there a quick way to tell them apart from the real ones?  Do they weigh differently?

Please be aware it looks like these are some knock-offs / counterfeits.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=181303812992
They are advertised as silver plated brass, but they are using one of the pictures taken of the pure silver pieces to sell them, so I really don't know what these are.
I will order a couple to discover the most obvious means of detecting these.
It may take a while to get them out of China during New Years, so I will post again on this when they arrive...

It looks like they may be sourced here:

Interesting, now its imminent, yes?
1957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Possible Guide on how to "disable" the bitcoin network(?) on: February 01, 2014, 12:44:11 AM
So far I have not seen TwinWinNerD's attack refuted.
More accurately, the refutations required minor work-arounds.
Wallets are free, a finite amount of wallets are required for such an attack.
It is doable, and very possibly profitably so.

For what its worth, I've anticipated this precise attack for quite a while and so have my default miner fee above the minimum.
Also, I <3 miners.

It is also not the greatest current threat to the Bitcoin network, but still worth mitigating.

Clevelander closed at 10pm fyi. Go to mangos instead.

I don't think it closed so much as filled up, we were there much later. Wink  Sorry you missed it, it was pretty spectacular.
