1981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coming next week-- the world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: June 07, 2012, 01:06:35 PM
Because there is no bill.

Because the service is free.
Of course it is.
Quit being such a condescending dick. Of course it can be free. My checking account actually pays me interest, and the interest is actually greater than that of my savings account. Additionally there are other perks, such as refunds of ATM fees, and more.

If you are using a shitty bank that charges you money to use a checking account, don't assume that all other banks suck that hard. Also, switch banks.
1982  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: June 07, 2012, 12:52:48 PM
I have 6,325 BTC and 53,244.35 USD in bitcoinica. I will join forces with AurumXchange. I want MTGOX CODES for each TODAY or I will prosecute to the full extent of the law.

Maria.

Just exchanged 3,000 BTC. Everything is working smooth now. Makes me wonder, Why MTGOX does not offer instant LR payouts? Great Job www.CoinExchanger.com

Maria.

Good luck.

PS. I can't seem to locate your claim. Where should they send the money to?
Looks like Zhoutong caught himself another Coinexchanger shill. Great work!

After 900 accepted shares, my U seems to be a little higher, but I'm going to leave it for a while.

BTW, why does cgminer occasionally (after about 50K shares) stop sending work to the BFL box? It stays running and shows longpolls as they come in, but no shares...
1984  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Password Leak] LinkedIn database hacked on: June 07, 2012, 01:27:03 AM
It can take months to crack a simple password.
Only if it isn't in a dictionary somewhere already. But yes, even dictionary cracks are slowed down, somewhat.

It supports Paypal and Dwolla? WTF really? And how soon is it that it will be rendered useless because one of those providers hates it and doesn't want you on their service?
1986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Warning Against Using Taint on: June 07, 2012, 12:39:49 AM
You don't have to accept coins that have been obtained dishonestly, either. That would be a personal choice. Because bad actors could respond, to honest traders who only making transactions with other honest people, with violence does not invalidate the idea.
Did you just skip over what he said above you? I don't know how many times I must repeat myself: it is NOT POSSIBLE to prevent anyone from sending you money, whether "tainted" or not. It just  is  not  possible. It is the way the system was designed from the ground up. Sure you can watch for "taint" yourself, but what are you going to do once it touches you? Return it? Keep it? Donate it?

They can't be held responsible when they had only just taken over and hadn't had an opportunity to change anything.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but they are very responsible, and the mail vulnerability was a direct result of an action that one or more of the team members took.
Further discussion has already been had in numerous other threads, search for them.

FitPCs are expensive. The various models in the ZOTAC ZBOX Nano lineup are cheap and good value, even if you max out the RAM and add an SSD.

im sorry i was listing my gpu my bad
Soooo.. you adjusted the original spec to say 200 mhash instead of 350. Do you think we are retarded or are you trying to scam someone with false advertising?

Don't bother answering that, we all know exactly how fast that CPU can go. And the answer is not 200 mhash/s.

1991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The BitcoinCard : Vienna, Austria Workshop on: June 06, 2012, 08:08:48 PM
It would be a nice surprise to see bitcoincard in the next issue of Bitcoin Magazine  Shocked
Fat chance, apparently MNW is developing a competitor to it that he doesn't want anyone to know about, so he probably wouldn't allow such an article to be included.
1992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does Quantum Computing mean for Bitcoin? on: June 06, 2012, 04:37:38 PM
I would be digging this thread a lot more if I had paid attention in math. Undecided

...and statistics, and algebra, and geometry, and physics, and quantum computing.. wait maybe not that last bunch.
1993  Other / Off-topic / Re: Chicago Roadtrip to BFL Facility on: June 06, 2012, 04:33:17 PM
lol @ BFL suddenly becoming the tourist destination for the nerdiest of nerds. BFL, don't forget to install a soft drink machine for the incoming basement-dwellers, preferably with Mountain Dew and Monster drinks. Grin Grin
1994  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Physical bitcoins can get stolen... on: June 06, 2012, 04:30:02 PM
I guess the lesson here regarding the BBC story is, if you want to set up this kind of business, you better be prepared to have a shooting war with the police. Because apparently it will come to that if you want to actually be able to offer your clients what you are promising. So quick question .. I dont really want to hire Academi because they are Xe and Blackwater scumbos, but who is their competition? Is there any good paramilitary mercenarcy organization with strong morals and good rates and availability?
Good question. I'm sure some of the legal MJ sellers in Cali would like to know this as well.
1995  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Mini Rig Box on: June 06, 2012, 04:28:22 PM
My BFL arrived with 814 firmware instead of 832. Should I be concerned? I've upgraded it and ran it all night at 832 and it seems to run fine. I wonder why it shipped out that way?

All 6 of mine came with 816 firmware

Well that's lame. Another guarantee broken; that of the minimum advertised specs.  Roll Eyes
Here's a tip: If the specs aren't up to the minimums, DON'T SHIP IT, send one that actually works.

That being said, will they run the faster ones without issues, JWU42?
1996  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Pizza E-Gift Card on: June 06, 2012, 03:59:04 PM
I'm hungry.

I want to buy a Papa John's or Domino's E-gift card, anywhere in the range from $20-$50 dollars.

Shoot me an offer on how many BTC you want!

1997  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 06, 2012, 03:42:56 PM
Funny, I think p2pool might have a little bit more hashing power than that... Anyone up for it?
He said Gbits/sec, not ghash/sec. Rather different. One is hash speed the other is network speed. And if you try it you will probably get reported to the FBI by him anyway.
