2001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 21, 2013, 01:16:07 PM
is the lack of concrete information because of people wanting to get all the domains for themselves?

sorry for trolling but its just simple what i ask

i ask for an alias. timeout means that after the timeout i will know if i got the alias or not?

please explain clearly this stuff before it starts.

Timeout? U mean deadline?

yes please explain how this works and how/when am i completely sure that i got the alias. after the deadline or immediately.
also if checking while the deadline is not reached if i see i didn't get the alias can i bid again with higher price?

why is this shady? please explain all these and not just announce "listen ppl try to get aliases".

nxt is until now a just currency although with closed source code which some people dont like.

at least be transparent about aliases.

If you follow NXT development closely, you will see that all the information has been given out at one point or another. Code from Beyond has been extremely accommodating and answering every single question directed to him. Sometimes twice or third times.
Nxt development has been at lighting speed so far. Things are changing day by day and that is the reason no one has the time to compile an unified and official source of information such as NXTwiki or guide. Nothing shady here. It is just you are at frontier and it is normal there is no available guide.
Feel free to voice detail and technical questions, Code from beyond will happily answer you.

i dont agree sorry.

in the last 4-5 pages i have asked the same questions 3 times and i have been ignored by code from beyond.

also sorry but when you announce a complicated feature with a start in the next day or so, you need to have at least some technical answers ready and a guide.

releasing it and waiting for people to ask questions that you may answer and may not, is not only amateur but shady.

the only thing that was released is the alias.html and that we can use it to register aliases. all other info comes from random questions from members here. this is not fair for example many ppl would be searching the nxtforum itself for guides.

Before Code from Beyond join in, here is my attempt:

1. After you register an alias, you will get confirmed if your request is selected in a block but it could be orphan block so you need more than 1 confirmation to be sure

2. After deadline your request of an alias become invalid, if it is not confirmed yet than that means the request did not get on a block (because the fee is low comparatively)

3. After deadline you can increase your fee to get on a block again

4. I am still unsure how long do you wait to get the result if your alias has been taken by someone else ?? so you can move to other alias Code from beyond ??

BTCNext activity show that his last post was november 8th. Has anyone heard from him more recently? Is anyone concerned that this may effect the publishing of the code next month? We don't need him specifically, but we very very much need that code to be published next month.

BCNext only communicates via Code from Beyond but he communicates just as recently as 2 days ago. From what Code from Beyond said basic source code will be released as planned on January 3. More advanced features will be added gradually.

That is somthing I don't understand...how dose one sell/transfer a Alias?
Lets say I register 100 Alias names with my Nxt account, now I won't tosell google the google alias...what schould I do?
I could give them the pass to the acount but
1. I would still know tha password, so google would share the alias with me
2. I still have 99 other Alias names on this acount, I don't  won't goole to get those aswell

U have to wait when alias transfer will be implemented (if implemented at all, such a feature must wait for Voting System to be launched).

Ah ok, so for now its just geting them, then leting them sit and hoping for the best^^

Cool, thanks for the info Smiley

Or you can create multiple accounts so that one account can take care one alias.

Thanks you Anon. You do deserve a tip. I will send you some after I fired up the client later on. We still need you to audit the actual code and algorithm when the source code is released. Are you qualified to do that ?

I assume who ever generates blocks 22000, 220001 and so on for the first while is going to be making some serious transaction coins

I expect that zombies that r currently ddosing the network will become more active soon...

Who are zombies ? how to kill them all ?

Is there any chance there will be an Alias input field in the client in the future or is a browser plugin always going to be required?

Alias input field in the client is easy. Nexern is already on it. To make the alias sytem popular it has to be a accessible from popular browsers for non-Nxt users. Plug-in would be the first step. When Nxt gains traction. Chrome, Firefox etc could consider having the plug-in built-in their browsers. I hope with the the right push, that day will come.
2009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 20, 2013, 03:51:35 PM

Ok, once an Alias is assigned... will there be an input field for users to type an Alias and, therefore, get redirected or will users
need to type something like https://locahost...etc. to access Alias?

thnx   Smiley

What conditions are needed for a person to type nxt:myalias in my chrome browser to go to my preset URI ? plugin for the browser ?  any plan for the plugins yet ?

Internet naming system rebirth. It is going to be huge.
2010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT coin - A total scam? on: December 20, 2013, 04:27:29 AM
Oh How Larry and Sergey has cornered the Google market right at the beginning. And also how dare that Zuckerberg guy cornered the Facebook when it is still tiny and only sold to the public when it has become a multi billion venture.

You might be one among many Nxt users in the future because of its so cool features but you won't necessarily be rich from it. Not anyone can be rich, especially naysayers, but that's okie too.
2011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 20, 2013, 12:51:30 AM
Bounties to nexern. Big ones unless he already have millions and millions of NXT Smiley
2012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 20, 2013, 12:47:02 AM
OMG it is going to be HUGE.
2013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 19, 2013, 04:31:09 PM
I think this alias system could be a killer feature of NXT. Plus messaging, market and auction. It could potentially be huge. Think about Facebook but with more privacy, business and techno oriented. Major efforts should be put in the system to make it stable and user friendly and when the user base reaches a certain level with scale effect. Sky can be limit. Think about Bitcoin big or more. At this point, something new in Crypto can be bigger than Bitcoin but I believe in two years the landscape would be much clearer with certain winners are out. I wish I am a developer Smiley can't wait to see BCnext source code.

I have to use http://95.85.22.142:6874/ instead of the localhost:6874. Is that the way to do it ?

Why? Do u have it running locally?

I have it running in my local computer. Does that sound about right ?
2015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 19, 2013, 02:50:05 PM

I ran http://95.85.22.142:6874/ with 38 recent blocks and 10.000 in account. So I am connected to your node.

Could u pm me ur passphrase?

Looks like you have done something. What are these two transactions in my account

Yeah. But I am still unsure how to register an alias. What kind of syntax should I use ? is this the same a "send" command.

http://localhost:6874/nxt?requestType=assignAlias&secretPhrase=123&alias=Google&uri=http://google.com&fee=1&deadline=1440

Running replacing 123 with my password account gave {"errorCode":6,"errorDescription":"Not enough funds"}

Coz u have 0 blocks maybe?

I ran http://95.85.22.142:6874/ with 38 recent blocks and 10.000 in account. So I am connected to your node.
