NXT is ahead of Namecoin on trade volume now, on #4 spot.

Looking at price I assume stakeholders r selling a lot of NXTs now Grin

So far so good.

I AM JUST PROPOSING WE AUTOMATE DGEX AND SET IT AS THE FIRST AUTONOMOUS CORPORATION TRADED ON THE NXT ASSET EXCHANGE.

PEOPLE JUST WANT A SAFE PLACE TO DEPOSIT/TRADE/WITHDRAW....A SAFE GATEWAY FOR NXT.

I REPEAT WE AUTOMATE DGEX AND ISSUE SHARES ON NXT ASSET EXCHANGE.

SIMPLE...EASY...

Dgex belongs to Mr. Graviton. You could persuade him listing in NXT asset exchange by emailing him and asking him so. And please stop spreading the bull concept of DAC. They belong to invictus and pro to share group.

I use Gdex so that you may have a conceptual picture/framework in your mind....it can be any other exchange......I'm not even excited about the exchange per sec...im more interested in how the IPO process will work...how  I will be able to trade shares on the Asset exchange....If I don;t want to trade Nxt....I just trade my shares....IT'S ANOTHER DRIVER FOR NXT!.similar to forging....& share holders also get monthly dividends based on their holdings.....I think this is what Mr. James has been pushing.

Yes, thee will be a lot of trading. Lot of shares. Exchange etc.

landomata,

I see a couple of issues with a NXT/BTC gateway. First problem is that there is no guarantee it will be a monopoly and almost a sure thing that there will be multiple issuers of BTC within NXT.

What most people here don't realize is that the entire trust the issuer problem has been ignored. Over in ripple-land, that is the single biggest hurdle for any gateway.

The other issue is competition. I know that peercover isn't charging fees for their ripple gateway and so it is quite possible someone will setup a free service to be a BTC gateway into NXT.

Of course, there is nothing to stop anybody from taking the ball and running with it. Just offering my take on it

James

It may not be a monopoly in the world but it will be the ONLY Gateway for BTC/NXT on the Asset Exchange....you will need some form of Gateway to deposit/withdraw either NXT or BTC for example from Nxt Asset Exchange ....JUST AS IN DGEX HOMEPAGE....we deposit/withdraw/Trade and pay a fee in the process like any normal exchange.

Its basically GDEX automated and linked to the Nxt Asset Exchange....who cares if there are other competitors....other competitors are not gonna pay out monthly dividents to share holders.....other competitors are not gonna have their shares traded in the NXT Asset exchange ....I repeat the NXT ASSET EXCHANGE IS READY!

I am not a dev...so I can;t code this but I don;t think it would be difficult....I would surely invest in this....and also trade the shares and many would cuz they can profit from price movements.

IT WOULD ALSO BE INNOVATIVE and could act as a template for other decentralized autonomous corporation....and the main exchange to list would be the NXT ASSET EXCHANGE....cuz it has a liquid and developed marketplace....if NXT doesn;t do this somebody else will.

You need to understand that NXT network does not know BTC address. They belong to two completely separate blockchains. There is no way you can send or receive real BTC within NXT. Please wait for documentation on the asset exchange operation.

Why do you seem to be angry? I am simply stating the facts. Nxt at the moment is a very small community, volunteers works with others a lot here and at nextcoin forum. If you feel like you have done your part, then fine. We will leave it at that.

Your first words to me were.

I read aldrin's post and I don't even know what to say. You shouldn't just sell but also contribute to NXT's cause. I have not seen you much.

You know nothing about me, and yet your first comment was basically

"wow, I'm speechless, I just read aldrin's post - where does that guy get off - all he's doing is selling his NXT and he wants a medal! GET ACTIVE ASSHOLE, like me (utopianfuture). NXT wont survive unless you're visible, like me (utopianfuture)"

You're the angry one! I feel great!!

edit: and I'm active, and will be in the future, so you're original assumption is false, and your tone was rude (but I'm not angry)

Oh please you are full of bull excuses hiding behind the annonimity. I am not rude but I am frank. No wonder you don't like it. I am looking forward to see your contribution in the future.
1847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 29, 2013, 04:33:10 AM

I read aldrin's post and I don't even know what to say. You shouldn't just sell but also contribute to NXT's cause. I have not seen you much.

You don't know what to say because you don't know anything about me - my age, my skill level, my life commitments, my domestic circumstances. You don't know what I'm doing to help NXT, but it sounds like you have made some assumptions, and some judgments too.

I offered some feedback relevant to genuine concerns people have raised about big stake holders hoarding, and the damage it would do to NXT.

You need to be more active. I am saying that not because I envy you. I don't. But NXT cause deserves more from you. BCNext expects more from you. You can justify whatever you want but when BCNext threatened to leave, he was aiming at you.

I'm running 2 nodes, I'm reading A LOT of NXT forum threads trying to learn how to setup nodes on Ubuntu VPS's - that's a huge leap for me requiring many hours. I'm keeping up with what's going on by reading the volumes of posts in the various NXT forums - that's many hours too.

I'm not Richard Branson with a private jet and personal staff. Maybe I'm a sick old lady in hospital with a bad back - you don't know enough about me to judge the merits of my activity levels?

BCNext doesn't expect anything from me - it's you!!

I'm not able to contribute to technology discussions (but I'm reading every word many many times), and marketing/promotional stuff is not something I can help with (life circumstances prevent that). You seem to be saying I'm not pulling my weight to help NXT, but you don't know anything about me.

I think you do envy me, and it's making you behave rudely towards me

I contributed back in september when I started following NXT, and I've read every forum post since, and I've learnt a lot.

What's the elephant in the room?

I've got a big stake and I should be donating lots to help NXT

How do you know I'm not?

What are you doing for NXT and why? I know what I've done, I know what I'm doing, and it's very early days.

Please explain why BCNext threatened to leave ? He did it once and he could do it again. No elephant here. I did not ask you to donate or share or distribute your property. I would never ask anyone something like that. I asked you to be more active because of NXT cause and BCNext.
Is that too much to ask you for something making you a millionaire? Isn't it the message BCNext sent?

Why do you seem to be angry? I am simply stating the facts. Nxt at the moment is a very small community, volunteers works with others a lot here and at nextcoin forum. If you feel like you have done your part, then fine. We will leave it at that.

Has anybody heard of Warren Buffet? He wrote the book Fundamental Analysis. Not exactly a page turner, but he did all right following the principles in his book Smiley

In my opinion all of the NXT tech is fantastic no doubt, but what really sets it apart is that it actually pays interest. I have been lucky enough to forge a few blocks and it was when I actually saw new NXT appear in my account from forging that I realized how BIG NXT WILL BECOME!

What is the most money people have made from bitcoin other than from buying or selling it? ZERO, 0%, nothing, nada, zilch. The fundamental value of bitcoin from a fundamental analysis basis is, zero.

NXT is currently paying out a super small percentage and I haven't quite figured out what its real world normalized interest rate it. Since forging revenue is paid in NXT, it is like an automatic DRIP (dividend reinvestment program). this means that the interest will compound. More importantly the upcoming releases will dramatically increase the transaction fees and the effective interest rate.

I want to position NXT as the first crypto that has a positive yield, of course need to put it into laymans terms. this means NXT is the first and only crypto that Warren Buffet would consider investing in, though he did buy something like 20% of the world silver supply, so he must have his exceptions.

NXT fixes all of bitcoins flaws. It is wonderful. Its potential is like the potential the Internet had back when all you could do was send email on arpanet. NXT implements a low level protocol that allows application layers to be built on top of it and run in parallel with each other. Each application will add more transaction fees, which increases the fundamental value of NXT.

I would like to suggest to nexern that he update his blockchain explorer page with the most recent fundamental value that we calculate. This is a critical first step toward establishing NXT as the crypto for everyone to invest in.

James

Disagree. NXT is not about forging or dividend to the hoarders. Fee is going to 0.01 soon, for vast majority of accounts the forging income is minimal.

utopianfuture,

got the doc and it is great! A lot of PR potential from this and I want to be able to be proactive in communicating all the positive things NXT is doing, instead of being defensive.

Who is maintaining the wiki? What would it take to change the text to reflect what I am saying? Does anybody disagree violently with my interpretation? Does anybody agree? Does anybody care?

James

James, did you already join next coin forum? There are many people there working to support NXT. You could join in the ongoing efforts.

utopianfuture,

Why is defending marketing attacks against NXT lower in priority? What is more important that the public's perception of NXT? Perception is reality, especially in crypto

If people's first impression is what yuri's of the world spread, that would severely lighten the load on the NXT servers. There are over one hundred altcoins plus bitcoin itself and presumably other challenges ahead for NXT. We cannot stay 100% tech oriented and just count on the public to accept NXT.

Distributed servers, distributed development all very good. However, distributed marketing is essentially no marketing. Is that what the NXT community wants? If so, let's just take down all the wikis, videos, etc. Just publish the source code and be done with the public.

Do we want NXT to grow to what it is capable of? If so, we MUST defend ourselves and establish the market position NXT deserves. NXT is up and running, NXT has an active user base. NXT has an active trading volume. NXT has the second generation features that no other coin currently has. I estimate at most a three month window of opportunity for NXT to capture the slot of being the next bitcoin.

Of course we need servers, but we also need good concentrated laser beam marketing.

James

Did I send you my "first document" ? If not I am going to.
1853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 29, 2013, 03:15:01 AM
utopianfuture,

While it is probably pointless to spend time debating the yuris of the world, think of him as the public perception ddos equivalent. The college prank ddos hit us and hit us hard because the network was so small. Did we ignore it and say, there is no point in beefing up our servers? Hell no! They attacked us, we defended the best we could and now our network is much stronger.

So, when the yuri's of the world attack us are we going to just take it and say there is not point in defending ourselves? Hell no! We MUST defend against this type of attack because it appeals to people's emotions of jealousy. Very powerful and it overrides logic. People will make up their minds emotionally and then find logical reasons to support their decision.

If someone like yuri can attack NXT's very core creation and success and twist it into a plausible "greedy 71" story, then we are in trouble. Since the key part of the story is BCnext's multimillion dollar giveaway, why aren't we pushing that storyline?Huh

Mystery man gives dozens of strangers millions of dollars and disappears!

Isn't that MUCH better for NXT? I want to know how yuri will ddos this

James

BCNext is just a weird man who happens to be a genius. If he just wants to give away, he have not threatened to leave when some big stakeholders just do nothing to NXT's cause.

It has to be admitted that the whole initial distribution is a mess. And it is BCNext's responsibility. Now he would have to do something to salvage it. I help him and NXt's cause as much as I can just because I believe he is a genius.
1854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 29, 2013, 03:07:52 AM
I have heard there are about 10 million unclaimed NXT. I have a plan that would make for great PR for the NXT founders.

All they have to do is vote to distributed a non-founder dividend from the future sales of these 10 million NXT. By setting specific prices with smaller and smaller volumes at higher and higher prices, the total donation of the founders will be many millions of dollars.

BCnext gave all the founders winning lottery tickets.

If all the founders voted to not grab any of the unclaimed NXT (worth millions of dollars), our opponents will somehow have to claim that the horrible greedy NXT founders VOTED to donate money they could have easily kept for themselves. Actions speak louder than words.

Let the cycle of generosity continue!

I know all the non-founders will like this idea of a dividend that only non-founders will get.
I sure hope the founders see the wisdom in doing what BCnext did and spread the wealth.

The PR value from this will be very powerful

James

James,

Unclaimed Nxt should be reserved for network development.
1855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 29, 2013, 02:53:59 AM
We need to fix the image problem that people like yuriygeorge is spreading. It appeals to the masses envy of rich people who they think don't deserve to be rich.

My confusion is why the founds or at least the counter to the 71 greedy bastards rhetoric is that they took a chance and deserve to be rich. Excuse me? We can do much better than that.

How can we update the wiki, videos etc. to reflect BCnext generosity as the main theme of the genesis? Won't that play much better than what we currently say.

James

P.S. Yuri,if you are up for it, I will be happy to debate you point by point.

I read aldrin's post and I don't even know what to say. You shouldn't just sell but also contribute to NXT's cause. I have not seen you much.

Thanks Ricky for the information. I just want to say that it is very difficult to sit still on 1 cool million unless you are deeply committed and involved in this venture. That's just human nature. At this point you would have more than 1 million dollar if you have 20 million Nxt. And you would have more than 1 million if you have 15 million Nxt a few days ago. I strongly suspect that all accounts with more than 15 million Nxt  have a very strong reason to keep them. Remember BCnext has a team. I cannot imagine all of them did not send their 1 BTC to the project. We are all working for future Sergey and Larry. So stop bitching and be thankful to be apart of this project.
These future  Sergey and Larry will make you very rich even though you don't know who they are.
Stop dreaming about redistribution. There will be none, at least not until 1Nxt= 1$.

I just want to add that many of you don't even know how much work have been done in the background of this project. It is very funny if you think you are entitled to something.

Guys guys, slow down - are you sure about the legality of owning these aliases just like that?

It's the world of cryptoanarchy. There is no such word as "legal".

Not yet. In cases like this they fight with everything they have at their disposal.

Its not illegal to hold the address but if you used it then you infringe their trademark...
So if you don't sell it its useless because if you used it they could come after you.

Only if they know who you are.

Jean Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise....  Cheesy  I had to do it...it was just too tempting

Edit: USS Nxterprise boldly go where no Crypto has gone before.
In a hindsight, I have really picked up an appropriate pseudonym. I never imagined I will make the progress from a forum Newbie to a Captain that fast.

I hereby appoint CfB as my First Officer.

Now that the USS NRS Enterprise has been making successful test flights, we have to get ready for our first trip outside the solar system, scheduled for Jan 03.

I am now proof-reading the code for any visible bugs. The memory leak has been fixed and I hope version 0.4.8 should have lower memory consumption and not require periodic restart. Next, there are some minor thread safety bugs I noticed that I will fix. I can also think of some optimization in the peer networking code, right now we create a lot of temporary byte[] and char[] that put extra load on the garbage collector and increase the memory usage too, but this is not urgent.

I need to do some refactoring of the code, because now everything is in one huge file. The parts that are to remain closed source will have to be factored out, as much as possible, in separate classes, so that they can be distributed in compiled form, still allowing one to work on the base open source part without having the complete source.

I also need to pick up a repository where we should host the source code, and prepare it for the Jan 03 launch. Probably github, but I need to investigate the alternatives.

Edit: USS Nxterprise boldly go where no Crypto has gone before. Such a catchy phrase.

Thanks Luc for coming in. I have a lot of confidence in Nxt development team. Together we can make this work. The truth is you don't know what is going to happen tomorrow. Life is a crazy ride, and nothing is guaranteed.
