NEWS

The last chance to claim unclaimed coins is over.

We have ~13M coins left and they'll be spent for rewards, bounties and development. Now we are running a reward program. I ask the community to post here links (with short description and link to BTT profile) to projects/persons that helped to promote Nxt. Only projects launched before the 3rd of Jan can apply. There will be several categories, BCNext will choose 3 best participants from each category. I'll contact project owners via BTT personal message to get Nxt account ids for reward payments. The 1st place will receive 50'000, 2nd - 30'000 and 3rd - 20'000 NXT.

Project: Implementation of a decentralized stock exchange, decentralized asset exchange within NXT asset exchange  --- UtopianFuture

Categories: articles, exchanges.

I have started this project one week ago via a mailing list. First draft

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xlzequz7qrggq80/First%20document%20of%20Nxt%20asset%20exchange.pdf

Objective: Dealing with actual issues of building a decentralized stock exchange based on the foundation of NXT asset exchange such as how to trust the stock issuers, how to deal with post- issuing conflicts, legal aspects of NXT network's social contract and the public inquiry process.

Expected Output:

1 peer review paper about potential real world problems with an implementation of a decentralized stock exchange; proposed solutions
1 plan for the actual implementation of the peer review paper concepts
These are expected to be completed before the official launch of the NXT asset market by the end of January.
1703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: January 04, 2014, 04:23:56 AM
Few words to the sellers:

Few days ago the price at masterxchange.com was 0.26. The total amount of buy orders was about 40 MSC.
Then someone posted 200 MSC at a lower price and another posted 100 in a lower price again and so on.

I mean, come on...
It is a free world of cause and anyone can do whatever they want, but people! think before you do stupid things...

Unless you need the money for some urgent stuff, please, sell 10/20 at a time.
You will get much more and you will only need to wait one or two weeks.

MSC still doesn't have the sufficient eco system. It is like a new company that just raised its money.
Companies at this phase are not traded on stock exchanges in the old economy.
Shareholders are expected to be responsible and reasonable.

What do you think will happen if JR Willet for example will decide to sell all his MSC at once?

If you look for quick money - go play with dogecoins or nxt.

So what kind of profit from fees is expected per 1k NXT.

Highly considering trading all my doge for NXT

Probably nothing in fee or like 1 block every 3 months.

Am I too late to the game? Have any been found yet?

Not yet. 100K nxt is still up for grab.

This forum (when I go to this thread) crashed so often (bad gateway error). Why we are still staying for so long ?
1707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 03, 2014, 04:35:05 PM

Agreed, Dgex is dominating the forum right now with a lot of negativity, perhaps we should move this over to the trading forum and focus on the code release.

+1 vote for keeping this thread as technical and positive as possible.

Please take drama (dgex, partial source release, cries of unfairness, cries of under appreciation, discussions of ripple, etc, etc) to an appropriate area of http://nextcoin.org.

RickyJames's open letters should stay. Those are entertaining.  Grin

+2 need to keep this thread contained and informative. Marketing for Ripple gateway should also move to nextcoin or nxtcrypto forum.

NXT price is down 20% due to what dgex did. Do you think I am advocating the peercover gateway to make a few bucks promoting ripple? It is a strategic need for NXT to be able to trade freely. Now on the day of src release, NXT opponents will say the price dropped 20%. This does not bother you? This belongs in some backwater thread?

My interest is in long term NXT valuation. Dropping 20%+ on source code release day kind of makes it hard to spin it in a positive way. If we can establish a market price untainted by giant fees tacked on without warning in any other way, let me know.

I just don't feel nxtchg's server can handle replacing dgex volumes. I also wouldn't want to trade there if any glitch makes my NXT disappear and that's the terms of service.

James

P.S. this whole thing could be an orchestrated attempt to hurt NXT. Does this not bother anybody else?

You should go to different forums to advocate ripple gateway because that where Nxt beginners are. Only veterans follow this thread for updated info. All of your writings will be buried in the thread after 15 minutes.

I won't use Ripple no matter how appealing it may seem. Sorry but the foundation is rotten.

Agree. I see no future in Ripple. The same old thing.

Why? Is this because it is centralized or something else?

Yes it is centralized. It is like Google of Facebook inventing an electronic payment system and offer you to use. It has been a year and it gains no traction at all which is pretty bad for a start-up.   But it is not the main reason I am not enthusiastic.

To be honest, after bitcoin there is no excitement in a pure payment system anymore.

In NXT, I see a more exciting future in a decentralized stock market, alias system, a secure message and voting system. These things are innovative. Being a payment system is a nice add-on but it is no longer 2008, you can't just re-invent the wheel and make people excited.

75. it is 75 million. In only one of the accounts.
And if everyone who hold their Nxt in dgex tries to withdraw... Dgex will get 75M * 1.4%.

You should join Nxt team in some capacity.

People have offerd help, none of them got respons.

These are two separate issues. You should know what he can do first.

I really don't care how many lines of code are spread over how many files.

This isn't a beauty contest.  There are plenty of open source projects with crap looking code, but they are successful because, at the end of the day, it works and it's clever.  For example, consider the OpenSSL source code.

Also, I know plenty of algorithmists who don't spend time on prettiness, but still write solid, correct, code.  Oh, and it does things a billion times better than other code, because they're good with algorithms and maths.

I remember about the reclusive mathematician who released pages upon pages of his handwriting about the the proof for the Fermat's theorem that shocks the world. Yes, it is not a beauty contest.
Could you take a look at the code and give some comments ?

Source is supposed to be released today.

Has it been released?  Who will release and where?

While PaulyC has the right to have that kind feeling, I just don't feel it is justified given all the community effort to find out the hacker, demand him to give back the money and contribute money to the victims. That shows how the community cared a lot about this issue.

dgex problems again...
DGEX is a disaster.  They never sent me my approx 1,200 NXT, i emailed them 2+ weeks ago, they replied 1 week later to the effect of "we trust your issue has been resolved".  I emailed them back and said it has not, and no reply.  Just stole my BTC.

I agree they also cancelled possibility to withdraw NXT  for free - I ask why 1,4% its worse than banking fees!!! even Bank America has lower fees. And especially from somebody who apparently came in into NXT from the beginning who don't have to solve financial problems for the rest of his life
well OK, its his offer we don't have to visit Dgex, but don't you think that 1,4% withdrawal fee is very high??

It is. Nxt withdrawal should be free! Graviton!

DGEX Fees starting from 2013-11-28 applicable for now
NXT BUY and SELL: 0%
NXT deposits: 0%
BTC deposits: 0%
NXT cashouts: 1.4%
BTC cashouts: 1.4% to 3.2%
(instant) min. 0.0005 BTC

have you ever seen it? 3.2% fee for BTC Is it a joke?

besides all this now the Dgex is down....

They should charge transaction fee but having withdrawal free. The way it is structured now people would have an incentive to leave the money in the exchange to trade around. It is good for the business but not good for customers. I don't  like it but I suppose that competitors would pop up pretty soon.

Could someone explain why it is intentionally being released with 3 security flaws?

they want to avoid people copying it easily....

here come copycats, even before the release of the source

Well, we used 0.4.7e just a few short days ago. It should be enough for reviewers to check whether NXT's fundamental logic works or not.
Where's are CfB bounties for reviewers ?
