Is there a need for 3 clients? Why don't you all put ur heads together and create 1 badass client? Just curious...

also, how do I know what client to use?

Explain above. Bitcoin have at least four main wallets :bitcoin QT; multibit; armory; electrum. So How do you choose one ?
Having one client is a weakness. We need redundancy.
1522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion - progress tracking thread on: January 13, 2014, 02:49:08 PM
I think salsacz should definitely be in the team. I will ask several others to see if they are interested. We could have up to 5-6 editors and as many contributors as possible.

Could you investigate how evernote works for a team ? We could keep it rolling.
1523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 13, 2014, 02:42:25 PM
If you put it as bitcoin, fund will be worth less as price of Nxt rises...

It's much harder to find someone who will do the audit if paid with NXT. This is the reality.

I think wesleyh said about remaining fund. No one talked about it yet. But I think it could be sensible to convert apart of the remaining NXT unclaimed to Bitcoin. If only for diversification and risk management. Furthermore, we may need other BTC-based bounties as this review bounty.
1524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion - progress tracking thread on: January 13, 2014, 01:36:02 PM
@apenzl I think what you have in mind is more like a news-feed. I think we could go bigger and make it a bit more in depth magazine style. News feed will be included. But for news-feed only, we already have parallel threads here which act like a news-feed hubs.

So in case you want to stick you a news-feed newsletter only, you can collect update information from these parallel threads. We will try to keep it as updated as possible.

NXT full feature clients - progress tracking thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412138.0
NXT promotion and marketing progress tracking thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412243.0
NXT open source code flaw report https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397183.0
NXT web service providers tracking thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412516.new#new
NXT security and user interface improvement - progress tracking thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412547.0

NXT API thread 1 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=313082.0 and 2 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=406839

Probably need someone to collect other news from two forums. And that should be it for a news-feed newsletter.

Could anyone tell me where I can report bugs to Luc ?
1526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion - progress tracking thread on: January 13, 2014, 01:19:02 PM
@apenzl, here are some of my thought on the newsletter idea. crossed post in https://forums.nxtcrypto.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=331&p=2432#p2432

We could follow similar template as the peercoin's newsletter https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=369239.0, but do it in a more decentralized fashion. That is having many writings by contributors in a magazine style.

The newsletter could be divided into different sections such as : full clients update, new projects, promotional events, merchant adoptions, interviews etc. and we could have each section covered by a contributor.

There should be some editors whose English are fluent because we want the newsletter looking good.

So the organization could be as follow:

Editors: 1-3 people, tasked with proofreading submission, selection of submission, contacting with contributors to request contents
Contributors: 5-6 depending on the level of interest; tasked with writing what they follow and interest and what might be requested by editors.

Following this type organization, we can move from a simple newsletter to full-scale magazine easily when the time comes.

Finance: We should seek financial support from donors at the beginning. Eventually we could have funds from advertisement etc.
Contributors and editors are expected to do volunteer work in the beginning. Other compensations could be discussed later, but I think we need to emphasize on volunteer efforts here. You can't expect to earn anything much at this state or maybe even in the future. So volunteers are welcome, paid mercenary please go away.

Newsletter guys, you should discuss this in "Nxt marketing & promotion thread: http://bit.ly/1cTp0iw" now Smiley

Others can visit also new sections: Nxt full feature clients, Nxt web service providers, Nxt security and user interface, Nxt open source code flaw report

Isildur23 got 5k bounty from me for gathering info about current projects that need support. This is what we already have. Please correct, expand it. I'm going to post polished version in new topic

Thank you for your work on bringing unfunded projects into the light. At this early stage, it's very important to acknowledge and encourage people who have real skills and motivation to build code for NXT on their free time (clients/specialized websites and so forth).
Personally, if I were the one sitting on the bounty I would send out a small part to everyone who contributes like this to the community. Motivate as many good developers as possible. Anything is better than zero.

Curious, do we have a topic yet for these?

We make a list of new parallel threads here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412138.0
1529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 13, 2014, 12:34:35 PM
To me, it seems a little bit odd to give BTCs as bounty Huh But maybe, it is right...

Well, it would definitely pull more numbers of experienced coders in to take a look at the NXT source code. (+curve algo)

Yep, we need independent reviewers. Why Anon's paper is a good read, I think we still need some reviews from impartial parties.

NXT NEWSLETTER

On the subject of info getting lost and most of us spending hours after hours on catching up on bitcointalk, nxtcoin.org, forum.nxtcrypto +

I have the time to tie a newsletter together a week - if somebody is willing to help me with info. I don't have the time anymore to trawl all the NXT-threads, but I can gather, sample and send the updates out, if I am feeded a resume from the different sources of information.

NXTers on the mailing list will then get a chance to focus on their own battleground, while still getting the most important headlines from every other field of the NXT development (with links to the sources). Personally I like being up to date - also in the fields I am not capable of contributing to. And another plus: Important announcements for the community can easier reach everybody via a maillinglist.

We need at least one person from:
- Bitcointalk (main thread + various others)
- Nextcoin forum
- Forum.nxtcrypto
to join this project and "feed" the newsletter resumes.
Info sent directly from developers or marketeers is of course also welcomed.

I don't have a thing (or NXT  Smiley) to give you in return, but contributors will get their acc number on their contributions - and more importantly right now: Help to organize the NXT stream of info.

/apenzl

I had very same thought couple days back. I want to help as well... perhaps we can create mailinglist subscription and start sending weekly news... 3 person can make/collect a reasonable weekly mail and send out interested parties

Great! So now we are 2 already! Smiley

I figured there might be lurkers on every thread who could gather and send a weekly resumé to the newsletter. There more people the marrier. More decentralized, yes. People like smaragda on the source code thread, perhaps? *blink blink*  Roll Eyes (no pressure intended)  Grin

Let's do it. I will contribute. It is nice to have a weekly newsletter which we can scale to something like Bitcoin magazine later.
1531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 13, 2014, 12:09:44 PM
...
eMunie will be released, and it will be successful.
- thank you for sharing your thought about eMunie.
And we know your attitude toward Nxt:
..
I didn't commit to any specific actions when I sent in my BTC back in September - I'm not so much a stakeholder as an investor/gambler. I'm grateful to those users who are actively doing things to support NXT, but was there an agreement we signed? Everyone is following their own self interest.

Yes, that is still my attitude toward NXT! It has turned out to be an excellent investment, and I feel very fortunate to have spotted BCNext's original post when I did. By then I had however, already discovered emunie 6 weeks earlier, and even on the day I sent in my contribution to BCNext's IPO I knew that the NXT big thing in the crypto currency world was going to be a system that tackled price volatility head on. NXT isn't doing that, but emunie is.

It is possible to design a system that can sense network supply and demand signals in real time and adjust the rate of currency creation dynamically. biggest load of bull I have heard This is the moment in history when human knowledge can use computing power and decentralised networks to do something like this. Elastic supply and price stability is possible, and I believe emunie will achieve this.

It isn't rocket science, but it is digital currency science, and Fuserleer is a pioneer, just like Satoshi, and BCNxt is a pioneer also.

But Fuserleer is real person named Dan Hughes, and I've chatted with him, and got to know him. He's a really good guy. Don't you guys wish you could have a chat with Satoshi or BCNext nearly every day in a shoutbox? But you can't. Nobody can, because those guys have chosen to hide - that's a bit sad, and it's going to make selling crypto currencies to the general public and business a lot harder.

Transparent forging is very clever, and if it works as planned NXT might achieve visa transaction rates. BUT, emunie can achieve visa transaction rates too, and it's 100% anonymous, with a super lightweight blocktree, and it has human understandable addresses like alias names, and messaging, and chat, and will have a p2p exchange very soon too - plus a heap of other stuff that blows my mind. It'll work on a phone too eventually, so it'll be mobile friendly.

I'm not a technical guy, but I know what I've seen testing the beta clients, and my money is on Fuserleer doing exactly what he has said he'll do. He's nearly there, and eventually all the code demons will get to see how he did it. But only a fool would reveal HOW it works before he's launched his product. And he's done so much testing, when it launches it will be ready for wide adoption without bugs and crashes.

A fixed supply does not make a good currency, so I'm an emunie guy, with a solid respect for NXT.

I think you should go back to your Emuine home, no one here cares very much about what happen in Emunie land. Here are some of my thought before you go

To me Emuine fails in couple of levels:

1. Economics - I am a professional economist with a pending PhD degree and I have been teaching Money and Banking at university level for the last three years with a strong interest in new forms of asset and currency. I will simply tell you that you can't control money supply and price reliably at the same time. Price is the common signal that every market participants can follow. Quantity is not. Without a price discovery mechanism, the market won't be efficient. Emuine will certainly fail at price stability. I am sure about it as I am sure about the historical lesson that the Bank of England under Thatcher in 80 was not able to control money supply reliably at all when they tries money supply targeting.

2. Legal aspect - There would be a lot risks involved in any revolutionary venture that aims to replace fiat currency and conventional banking system. It would be very unwise that the only person who can shut down the whole thing is known. U.S has very strict law regarding crowd-funding and financial activities. When Uncle Sam targets Dan, the whole Emunie can collapse. They may not consider Emuine and Dan a big deal though. I am of opinion that Emuine will fail even before someone really care enough to try to sabotage it. But when someone does and rat it out to the tax and fund raising regulatory authority, I don't think he can take it. He can't even take the heat from some trolls lol.

3. I have seen some videos demo of Emuine client. And I think it is quite slick so I give it to Dan on technical levels. But no decentralized network should circle around one single person as it is in Emuine land now.

So that's all. We have other works to do here.

Cfb, lol are you going to crash the market ? I will buy 10BTC of NXT more if you can wait 4 business days for my coinbase purchase clears.

Let's wait for u. What discount do u expect to get btw, unclaimed coins will be sold.

I don't know if you want to go by fixed price, I will go by 0.00003 paid in 4 business days or I can do 5% off DGEX market price at that point

For accountability reason, if anyone could match my offer, then you could take this too.
1533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 13, 2014, 11:19:39 AM
If anyone here wants to sell NXT fast and off the exchange I'm buying at a rate of 10K NXT per 0.3 BTC.

Just send me a pm Wink

We need BTC to announce bounty for Nxt crypto algo audit. Offering only NXT for it reduces auditory greatly. How much BTC do u have?

Cfb, lol are you going to crash the market ? I will buy 10BTC of NXT more if you can wait 4 business days for my coinbase purchase clears.

Is anyone going to become an NXT/fiat gateway when Asset Exchange is launched? I know about only 1 such case.

We are working on putting a very simple broker type of service were people can buy NXT with EUR.
It will be very very simple and the sole purpose of it is going to be just give "easier" way of buying NXT without going through the hassle of getting btc and then converting.
I hope we will be ready in 1-2 weeks.

Someone in Canada should open USD-NXt gateway, I suppose it would be easier three with RoboCon and everything. Here in States, the NSA scares the shit out of me. But because of NXT cause, I might try to do something. But lol I expect to get a "cease and desist" letter very soon and I have to stop anyway.

1536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 12, 2014, 11:25:07 PM
People controlling Nxt are very smart or very rich and smart Smiley
- original stakeholders who didn't sell
- developers who didn't sell
- early buyers
- rich newcomers

I like the sound of it very much  Grin
1537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 12, 2014, 10:11:58 PM
we will get so much media attention and mass adoption after we publish these texts about Nxt:

Bitcoin's carbon footprint is out of control.Pos
http://www.bitcarbon.org/introduction.html

"Nxt's carbon footprint will never be bigger than one village"

Bitcoin can just change ,from Pow to Pos.

How can they reach a consensus?
It is never that easy.
1538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 12, 2014, 08:02:20 PM
a nice article:
A New Wave of 2nd Generation Cryptocurrencies: NXT, eMunie, SkyCoin, EarthCoin
http://alunacrypto.blogspot.cz/2013/12/a-new-wave-of-2nd-generation.html

Found some distressing news about emunie developer https://ripple.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5399

Seems he is a known scammer, but it is all third hand, so best if you make your own conclusions. Seems to be very suspicious that the presale was closed based on the reason that trolls took up too much of his time. Huh?

If anybody knows of a serious competitor to NXT, please post about it. Need to know what the competition is up to. At this point, I am putting emunie in the potential competitor category. Until there is an open beta and/or open src, it could all be vaporware for all we know. Has anybody here actually used the beta of emunie?

James

I'm going to conclude that eMunie (scam or not) is toast. Dead. Not happening.
Just read Fuserleers (eMunies lead dev/creator/lord of all creation) post here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412118.0

The tl:dr version is that eMunie will not launch on schedule because fuserleer is upset by the trolls.
It's a very bad sign for eMunies credibility that one guy can derail what is potentially a massive project because he's a bit upset by criticism.

Enough negativity, on to NXT:

@Asianprepper et al:

NXT must be NXT, not next, not nextcoin, not lovelyjubblynextcash....

It's NXT, and has to be NXT, for one simple reason: google NXT, then google next. See the difference?

And yes, Damelon, Pin, we do need to get on over to Nxtcrypto (or even nextcoin.org) forums more. This thread is driving me mad, and i'd like to have a wider spread of smaller threads covering important topics.

It is not going to work. It is like a one man show. When Dan want it we have Emunie's IPO, when Dan is upset by trolls then the IPO is cancelled.
It should not be the way it works.
1539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 12, 2014, 07:49:27 PM
Can someone tell me why all these thread are opened here on BCT, and not on our own forum nxtcrypto?

I mean this seriously and as an open question. I'm fine with it, just a bit surprised.

All of these threads will link back to both forums. Consider them are gateways. Make someone stumbles upon a certain thread could find a way to all the information they need.

Everyone should reflect on the concept of decentralization. If nxtcrypto forum is the only source of information for NXT, isn't it centralization ? Keep in mind that I am a global mod of nxtcrypto forum. But we cannot afford to play provincial interest. Everyone should embrace the concept of decentralization and let the information grows everywhere it can. The more diverse NXT eco-system is, the better chance NXT eco-system will survive and grow.

Bookmark each thread to keep track of them.
