All right. I am going to log out now. HAPPY NEW YEAR to YOU all, especially to BCNext, CfB, Luc and all others who are working to keep the network safe and secure. WISH you all a prosperous 2014.

the min fee can be set to 0.50, 0.25, etc? can be any number?

Almost any. Minus 1 NXT fee wouldn't be a good decision.

ok,

so when NXT goes to $0.20, set min fee to 0.50, NXT goes to $0.40 set min fee to 0.25, NXT goes to $1 min fee to 0.1, etc.
If someone creates a forum poll on nextcoin.org and majority votes for this min fee setting ratio (always keep min fee ~$0.10), would the devs implement it or would we still need to wait for the VS to be in place?

I agree that a fee reduction schedule have to be planned ahead. Need to do it the sooner the better.

Should stakeholders decide what kind of forging algorithm also ? we need a working, stable system, these decisions are not that different imho .

Forging algo is the only exception, it's BCNext's know-how. The rest can be set by stakeholders.

When 1nxt=1$. It would be too much to do anything if it cost at least 1$. But I doubt the rentier class would agree to do anything until the whole system grinding to a collapse. Before that happening, I would take the source codes and make a truly working, economically sensible decentralized system.

Should have a technical milestone like in option 2. This belongs to technical category. You should ask BCNext. If there are two options, we have to vote again. Put it into technical category.

Stakeholders should decide imho.

any plan for min fee update. Like any NXT price target ?

2 options:
- Stakeholders decide via VS
- When average number of transactions per block reaches some threshold (50% for example)

Cfb, is minimum fee to 0.01 implemented at the same time as the launch of the asset exchange ?

No. Orders will be with cents but min fee still 1 NXT.

What if I were a new user?  I wouldn't have any *.nxt files.  I would be required to add more well-known peers?  If so, why not include them in the distributed web.xml?  It would be good to make this software work out of the box.

Where can I find a list of well-known peers to add to web.xml?

I've ordered a Pi and will set it up by the end of the year to have it run NXT 24/7.

Just made it by the end of the year. So far, it seems to run fine with 0.4.8.

I can no longer find the info on how to make it a public node. I get a new IP every 24 hours. I already setup port forwarding for TCP 7874 from Internet to the RPi. Anything else I need to do?

My next project: Client with a focus on exploring the block chain and markets (dgex for now). (It'll be for Windows only.)

Great news. The more projects, the better for the future of NXT.

Cfb, did nexern get paid for making the client ? can't afford for him to quit his work for NXT now.

He is not paid. He posted his address for donations but I bet noone noticed that except me.

If he already have several million of NXT, then we are fine but I doubt he has that much. I tried to push some big holders to have a a certain bounty for him. But no guarantee at the moment.

Is this right?

Same here. Frigging hard to forge a block now.

Does anyone else like this little downtime we've been having.....feels like the calm before the storm.

no wonder the blocks have been stuck for almost 11 hours:

There is also now a short promotional video (madskillz, incredible quality) on Youtube for the Russian market. I believe it's the first video on Nextcoin in Russian.

Details are listed in the video's description.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

I don't know Russian, but it looks high-quality. For promotional video, we should put more effort to make things like that

The storm will begin when Nxt reaches Bitcoin market cap. U have ~6 months to prepare urself for this show.

We better start some promotial campaign than, shoudnt we.

utopianfuture, what is the deal?

Pin

I prefer to wait silently for the official launch. The biggest promotional campaign would be after we have the soft client. Friendly UI is much easier to market.

Grin

Well, guys. Something should be fixed in Nxt protocol to attract more girls. I would pay 1K for a good idea. Smiley

maybe make a browser plugin like "share this" does for tumblr, twitter, fbook, but with pintrest in mind, even with a colored coin feature, combined with amazon wish lists.. women seem to like to share their online experiences

" i like product x so i "share it" on nxt, and it now works via messaging that my friends who follow me see what i like, combined with amazon wish lists that they could buy it for me, and even send it with a colored coin, having the value of said item"

just riffing..

Great idea. Someone should make a kind of newsboard in which when people do anything with NXT they can one-click share it in the newsboard.

Bad, good ? what it is about in plain English ?

I miss the blockchain explorer. Where is nexern and his new server ?
1818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 31, 2013, 02:04:20 PM
CfB, how did you find those forks? Did you find it by accident that you have many nodes and two of them were on each branch?

Just a lot of nodes in different places all over the world and 3 guys who monitor all this stuff 24/7. I don't work for NSA, don't worry Smiley

I just read an article about NSA. It is scary what these guys can do and what kind of resources they have. Doing anything blatantly illegal recorded in blockchain is very bad idea. That dread pirate guy was just over-confident.
1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Thread: Mine on: December 31, 2013, 01:36:04 PM
So in a way, it this can be translated to a democracy. Imagine 1 NXT = 1 Person. 1 Person = 1 Vote. Completely fair.
"Fair" again. OK, I'm concerned, I'm strongly disagree with Global Voting in first place. Let's hear what others think. I can't get how that idea supported by creator of Nxt too (who went away from forum with second post with may be rational awareness).

What more do you want to hear ? most think you are just saying nonsensical. You do not yet understand what NXT is.
1820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Thread: Mine on: December 31, 2013, 01:28:41 PM
Why NXT is asset? It's bigger than that. It's decentralized payment system with written down scheme of sharing profit (fees). Am I right?

No you are wrong. Payment system is just one feature. Alias system, asset exchange would eventually have more impact than payment system. NXT is a network or a complete system.
