2021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet Encryption on: December 22, 2022, 11:59:46 PM
Not all repair guy knows how Bitcoin wallet works but they know what is bitcoin the only problem is if your wallet is un-encrypted then there is a big chance that techy still have a backup or access to that wallet anytime he can able to transfer your funds to another wallet.
So the only option here is to create a new wallet and transfer all funds to a new wallet.

But I think that techy guy just telling you that he can able to recover any Bitcoin wallet and he means that you can trust him? Or he means that he knows Bitcoin but does not have deep knowledge about bitcoin it's just my guess maybe.
2022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgrade issues on: December 22, 2022, 11:36:57 PM
OK interesting. I installed libxcb-xinerama0 and ran my script. Qt popped up and then error stating conflict saying it couldn't run with listen 0 and listenonion 1. Changed both to 0 and now its updating blocks since shutdown 2 days ago. Didn't realize I didn't restart. 308 blocks left proper version 24.0.1.   It ran that way before, should both be 1 for for?

It seems its related to this error "Unable to open bitcoin-qt when incoming connections disabled in settings"

Are these listen 0 and listenonion 1 are in your Bitcoin core config? I think both of them are enabled by default but would you mind trying to remove them from your bitcoin core config or just setting up both of them into 1 to enable them?

But if your current settings are running fine just leave it like other users they having the same issue but the others with the same settings they don't get this error.

Or if you just want to use it as normal try the suggestion from GitHub to run bitcoin-qt -resetguisettings to reset the settings

Adding this if you are planning to run your core with TOR then check this discussion here "Bitcoin node over TOR"
2023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Futurebit apollo fullnode on: December 22, 2022, 10:59:30 PM
Since these units eat power of around 200w I don't think it would be worth mining solo but why not participate on the lightning network?
I think you can earn some BTC by having a lightning network?

Read more here Can you earn passive income running a Lightning node?
2024  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: December 22, 2022, 11:50:13 AM
For me, even if it is your husband or your wife you shouldn't share your seed phrase with anyone there is a possibility that he or she can be interested in withdrawing your funds from your wallet without your consent and the bad part is if s/he won't admit it or even s/he didn't make any transaction from your wallet if your wallet is hacked by someone else I'm sure you will blame him/her that leads to divorce.

That's not good for relationship it is fine to share the password not the seed phrase.
2025  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is cloud mining profitable in 2022? on: December 22, 2022, 11:18:14 AM
No one that I heard makes money in Cloud mining unless you are one of those who made and promote cloud mining sites.
Are you?

Then for you its profitable since you scam people I am one of people who invest in cloud mining before I invest a few times but in the end, nothing is profitable all of them are scams.

Except if the miner exists and the website is trusted where you can rent a real miner sample Nicehash and miningrigrentals that offers ASIC and GPU mining rentals but the profitability depends on the price of the coin and difficulty.
2026  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: This store is safe? on: December 21, 2022, 11:35:00 PM
Be careful I tried to check their few pages it seems that their website is not finished yet there are some pages that do not have content and after checking the source code of the website they are using CMS WordPress.

And most of the product they sell looks like used units that do not exist. They are also selling Innosilicon units which don't have any support anymore.
So there is a high chance that this website is scam.

If you are looking for cheap units why not buy directly from Canaan they have pretty cheap units with the same hash rate.
2027  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Where's the 25.5J/T promised in the new Bitmain firmware for S19 Pro? on: December 21, 2022, 11:13:50 PM
It seems it's just a bluff I also heard on Reddit that after upgrading their units there is nothing changes in the hash rate and efficiency.

Do you mind to try reset the unit to factory settings? You can reset it by holding the IP report button for 5 seconds until it bleeps then release then set up the unit again and check for changes.
2028  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: niceasicminer.com - is it legit? on: December 21, 2022, 11:40:46 AM
How do you trust a newly registered domain? Look at the whois info below its a 4 months old.

Code:
Domain:niceasicminer.com
Registrar:GoDaddy.com, LLC
Registered On:2022-08-22
Expires On:2023-08-21
Updated On:2022-12-17

I also tried to search it here on the forum no one mentioned it except you another thing that I noticed is that the price of their units is pretty much more expensive than buying directly from Bitmain shop and look all of them are out of stock except Antspace.

So I suggest don't deal with them because there is a high chance that this website is scam.
2029  Other / Meta / Re: Who Pays Bitcointalk.org (org) Domain Fee Per Year? on: December 20, 2022, 11:47:40 PM
In addition to the posts above the expenses for the domain and hosting of this forum came from donations and ads.

Although Satoshi Nakamoto might have ghost out on the forum as we hope to believe or perhaps he or she or group is here with us with another name, one thing we know for sure is that, the forum still has its management that runs it in the person of Theymos. We've also got Cyrus to help, along with a host of other admins.

I guess Cyrus might be Satoshi since he is the co-admin here or maybe another forum name that not actively posting here but is always online to monitor the forum?
2030  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S19J Pro for under £1000 on: December 20, 2022, 11:21:17 PM
Its through amazon marketplace so there's the amazon buyer guarantee

I would go with Canaan but even with their sales its still expensive compared to bitmain

Did you check carefully the price of units from Canaan?
I think you didn't check carefully the price from Bitmain and Canaan Shop unless you talking about 3rd party shops like amazon?

We talking about the price of their units directly to the manufacturer's price between Canaan and Bitmain Shop you should see a big difference.
2031  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I came here to Learn On Bitcointalk on: December 20, 2022, 04:59:13 PM
Take note Satoshi is no longer active here since 2010 so you won't get response or help from him.

Since you are newbie sticky thread in this section should be the right thread for you or start reading this "Newbies - Read before posting"
Or if you are looking for a big library for Bitcoin then you can check this "Big Library of Bitcoin & Blockchain Books" then learn from them.

For development check this https://github.com/yjjnls/awesome-blockchain
2032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgrade issues on: December 20, 2022, 04:46:27 PM
On what OS did you get this error?

I hope that you can post the whole error not just the partial.

Would you mind trying to install libxcb-xinerama0 if your OS is Linux then use this command below?

Code:
$ sudo apt-get install libxcb-xinerama0
2033  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S19J Pro for under £1000 on: December 20, 2022, 04:28:19 PM
Yes, it's a good deal but We don't know if it's new you are dealing with an unknown seller there is a big chance that the seller is a scammer or you will receive a unit with some issues.

So it's risky to deal with them unless you buy it directly from Bitmain.

If you want a cheap units with near or same hash rate speed then check Canaan units they are still selling cheap units like a1246-96T you can check them here below

2034  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I want to actually mine Bitcoin (SHA256) on modern GPUs on: December 19, 2022, 11:58:32 PM

I'm getting 2.3Gh/s on a RX 6700XT in bfgminer

I'm with OP on this one.

I think if there was a new software we could see some higher hash rates with modern GPUs
That's pretty low it is still not the best choice because the GPU is still more expensive than buying a single USB miner stick that can mine around 300gh/s.

Why don't you just forget mining with GPU instead buy a compac USB miner?
If you are looking for other software no one yet develop a software or miner that can improve the hash rate of this GPU.
2035  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: blockchain data or software service? on: December 19, 2022, 11:44:58 PM
What are some features missing from other explorers?

There are some people that I heard looking for block explorer with auto-suggest addresses where you can able to see addresses when pasting an address with some missing characters I can't seem to find this yet on any of the explorers.
Or an advanced search tool where people can search hash or addresses with missing characters.
2036  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Privacy issues when purchasing hardware wallets on: December 19, 2022, 11:15:29 PM
I don't know why these people giving sensitive information to the ledger if you can able to buy from a local distributor or trusted seller near your area.
If you don't know check the list of distributors here https://www.ledger.com/reseller

And actually, when I buy a product online I can use any name I want if the distributor or reseller is selling online you can use a different name or give a different address like what o_e_l_e_o said.
Or you can buy from someone p2p just make sure to check the device if it's authentic follow the guide here below.

Or else make a paper wallet or cold storage if you are planning to hold them for a long time.
2037  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does a trading strategy becomes obsolete? on: December 19, 2022, 05:58:51 PM
Here in crypto trading the strategy TA or FA is not yet obsolete even for the year those indicators you mention will still use by traders. Look at those who trade from forex and now switch to crypto trading they are still using it for signals.

Those strategies both TA and FA including the indicators you mention above are just for analyzing and predicting what will be the next move of the coin and traders usually use them for decision-making if when to buy or sell.
There are no 100% strategies that can predict the price of the coin everything in crypto is unpredictable and like I said those strategies are just for decision-making.
2038  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help! Is it possible to retrieve minned bitcoins from a minner? on: December 19, 2022, 05:26:19 PM
Miner has nothing to do to retrieve your coins from your old PC.
Where is this PC we talking about? It was stolen? If yes there is no way to retrieve them.

If your miner still running fine why not continue to mine and earn the BTC again?
Because you won't be able to get your BTC back without your PC. Next time I suggest make a paper backup or make a copy of your wallet.dat to an external HDD or USB Drive so if it's happening again you have more chance to restore your wallet.
2039  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: WARNING: CPU random generator seem to be failing on: December 18, 2022, 11:41:21 PM
i have created a few wallets while the error was present. does this mean i have created unsecure privatekeys because RDRND was broken? When or for what does electrum use RDRND?

It depends on how you created your wallet even without the warning issue it should be secured unless your PC/Device is infected.
I do recommend if you are generating a wallet with Electrum make sure your PC/device is disconnected from the internet to avoid leaks and make sure you have the backup seed for future recovery.
2040  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: blockchain data or software service? on: December 18, 2022, 09:23:30 PM
It is more likely a block explorer but the problem is there are already many explorers out there. You can create yours but it must be unique with some good tools and features to attract users.

For monetizing you can add some ads check the list of networks below
