He's British version of Sanju Manju. Even poms don't like him much, which is ironic as he was good captain back in the days but nowadays he only excels in bullshitting. Shane Warne also comes in same category more or less, unless he's talking about spin.

I could understand his frustration. Brits always claim that they invented this game (which is debatable) and they don't like it when they lose to their former colonies such as India, Pakistan, Australia and West Indies (and that too in the test format). But it is not going to matter much.. the WTC final will be played between India and New Zealand at Lord's. Vaughan and the current England players can reserve their seats at the Grand Stand and get a good view of the match.
2142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India makes ownership of Bitcoin criminal offense - How to respond? on: February 15, 2021, 05:39:07 PM
Well, this will be a tough time for cryptocurrency holders in India. The Indian government has been studying the possibility of legalizing cryptocurrency for a very long time, but in the end decided to ban its circulation. In this case, the people should take to the streets and express their protest against this decision. However, even if this does not lead to anything, then this government will also not last forever. To a large extent, everything will depend on how the leading states will treat the cryptocurrency.
On the other hand, we will have an experience of how effective a ban on the circulation of cryptocurrency in a separate, moreover large in territory and population, country can be.

Being a regular visitor to India, I can assure that it is not going to work. There is a large section of the population which supports the ruling party and that is why the government is so confident about these measures. Their supporters will defend them no matter what sort of laws they bring. During the last couple of years, they have introduced many controversial laws, and the opposition can't do anything about it.

And another factor is that 1 or 2 million cryptocurrency users doesn't really matter, out of a population of 1.4 billion. The vast majority of the population lives in rural areas. 95% or more haven't even heard about Bitcoin. If the government claims that Bitcoin is used for terrorism and therefore they need to ban it, then the vast majority of the population will support the government move.

I am sceptical myself if they can pull it off but just if they then nothing less than miracle as considering all the situation and batting 4th is never easy. It requires 1 of the players to make double century from here to help England win the test match and seems only if someone could make that may be Root or Stokes, provided if they can stay on pitch for longer time tomorrow.

For England, the first immediate target is to keep the margin of defeat below 300 runs. If they keep it below the 200 mark, then it will be a consolation for them before the start of the third match. England has hardly anything to take away from this match so far. So it will be better for them to do what they can tomorrow and then move on. The day/night test match is going to be interesting, because England has more experience in playing such matches.
2144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 15, 2021, 04:29:12 PM
The day ended up where England lost 3 wickets for 53 and still trail by 429 runs. So tomo the match should be over the series will be level by 1-1.  Ashwin is having the best time with bat and bowl and will be the player of the match unless England produce some miracle in batting and happens to win the test match from here. England performance might be other way around if they would have won the toss and bat first. Might be India would be under pressure in such situation just like now how England is in pressure of losing it.

In the first innings they made just 134 runs. Do you really expect them to score 482 in the second innings? I expect them to go down by 300 plus runs with another 5-wicket haul for Ashwin. This guy is just unstoppable in Indian pitches. And surprising that after all these years, England hasn't mastered to bat against him. England should focus on the next test, which is going to be a day-night match.
2145  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Myanmar issues on: February 15, 2021, 01:56:47 PM
Myanmar had an infant democracy. You can't expect it to be an adult overnight and killing it abruptly is not a solution.

Myanmar is mostly composed of Bamars with clear majority while 100s of other minorities are fighting for recognition. This coup had made them come together to fight against the military rule. I just hope the transition back to democracy would be peaceful one.

It is not a Bamar vs minority fight in Myanmar. Both the Tatmadaw (army) and the NLD are dominated by the Bamar ethnic group (68% of the population). And when you talk about the minorities, they are not a homogenous group. There are 134 recognized ethnic minorities. The largest ethnic minority is the Tai-Shan group, who constitute around 10% of the population. Culturally and religiously, they are very similar to the Bamar. The third largest minority is Karen (7%), who are divided into majority Buddhist and minority Christian factions. The next largest groups are Buddhist Rakhine and ethnic Chinese, who constitute around 3% to 4% each.

Among the minorities, there are groups that are supportive of the army (Shan, Mon, Buddhist Karen.etc). Then there are non-Buddhist groups such as Rohingya, Kachin, Chin and Baptist Karen who have been fighting the army for many decades now. There is a third group, which is comprised of ethnic groups that are controlled by the Chinese government (Wa, Palaung, Kokang, Lahu.etc). These groups control their own territory, and use Chinese Yuan rather than Kyat as the currency in their areas. They are supported by the PLA.

Now a fourth faction has emerged, with the Buddhist Rakhines rebelling against the central government. They used to be pro-army earlier. But now they want more autonomy and are clashing with the Bamar dominated authorities. And finally there are Indians and Nepalis, who comprise around 2% of the population. This marginalized group doesn't have any political power and are being assimilated into the Bamar community.
2146  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coronavirus Outbreak on: February 15, 2021, 01:35:18 PM
Why the situation in the developing world is so different from what we have in the US or the EU? The number of deaths from COVID 19 remains at peak levels in countries such as the US, with approximately 3,000 new deaths per day. On the other hand the number of new infections and deaths have gone down by 90% to 95% in countries such as India and Pakistan. China eradicated the pandemic long back and now life is back to normal there. And then there are countries such as Thailand and Vietnam, where there was no serious outbreak from the start. Do these people have some sort of immunity against the Coronavirus? Also, Africa seems to be doing fine with the exception of South Africa. Nigeria has so far reported a total of <2,000 deaths, despite having a population of more than 200 million.
2147  Economy / Economics / Re: You want to get rich, don’t pay taxes, don’t get married, don’t use bank, and... on: February 15, 2021, 12:42:43 PM
Many rich people have married and they still rich. Actually wife is someone who become your true friend and help you to live in this world. Men are creature who have seriousness behaviour, if you keep being serious all the time you can get stress. You need wife to have fun. For Tax maybe you right, I hope government can lower the tax rate. Actually government must be already rich, but corruption that make them feel poor. It's not wise if government weighing the citizens with high rate tax.

It depends on a lot of factors. In countries such as Indonesia, the divorce laws are more biased towards the men. But in most of the western nations, that it is the other way. Although I don't agree with the OP regarding his advice not to marry, it is true that divorce can financially ruin successful people. The perfect example is that of Jeff Bezos. When he divorced MacKenzie Scott, he had to pay $68 billion (25% of his wealth) towards her (making her the richest female in the world).

Right time for Queen to return the Kohinoor as a protest to such treachery act from the Indians.   Wink

I enjoyed English commentators meltdown thoroughly.  Grin Grin
It is a dream if they return the most prestigious gem, no idea whether they took it or got as a gift but the wicket looks like it is prepared for Ashwin as he was able to pick 5 wickets in the first innings and then score a century in the second innings and in the last two days he might even improve his wickets tally and he is the clear man of the match with his allround performance.

Don't want to deviate from the topic too much.. but right now there is no rightful owner for that diamond. It was originally mined from the Kollur Mine around 900 years ago by the Kakatiya dynasty. When Alauddin Khalji defeated the Kakatiyas and looted their treasury, the diamond came under his possession. From Khalji, it ended up with the Mughals. In 1739, the diamond was stolen by Nadir Shah of Persia when he invaded Delhi. Ahmad Shah Durrani received the diamond in 1751 and his descendant gifted it to Ranjit Singh in 1813. Queen Victoria received the diamond in 1849, after the Brits defeated the Sikhs. With so many owners, who is the rightful one?

Now back to the match. Michael Vaughan made such a fuss about the pitch yesterday (and got in to an argument with Shane Warne). And today, the no.8 batsman from India scored a century on the same track. And let's not forget. This is the same Michael Vaughan who predicted 0-4 series whitewash in Australia for the Indian team (India won the series 2-1).
2149  Economy / Economics / Re: Which Asian countries have the greatest influence on bitcoin? on: February 15, 2021, 11:48:26 AM
In terms of number of users and volume, it has to be Japan, with China at the no.2 spot. The third position may go to either Hong Kong or South Korea. If you just take the number of users as the parameter, then India may rank at no.3 or no.4. But there the daily volumes are quite low. Taiwan, Singapore, UAE and Malaysia are also some of the major markets in terms of volume. Markets with good future potential include GCC nations, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Turkey.
2150  Economy / Economics / Re: Is corona virus crisis changing economical equations around the world? on: February 15, 2021, 11:16:56 AM
The pandemic may result in China becoming the largest economy in the world, overtaking the United States. American economy is not looking in good shape, especially with talks of minimum wage being raised to $15 per hour, and stimulus measures amounting to many trillions of dollars. China on the other hand is doing exceptionally well. I can give you a small example.

Here is the list of top-10 highest grossing movies for 2019: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_in_film#Highest-grossing_films

As you can see, almost all the movies are from the US (Hollywood).

Now here is the similar list for 2020: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_in_film#Highest-grossing_films

A majority of the films are Chinese.
2151  Economy / Economics / Re: PayPal cryptocurrency trading volume beyond expectations on: February 15, 2021, 10:52:54 AM
Therefore, it is very possible that in the future crypto will have a very bright era.  It's not like they said that currently there is only a price bubble that will suddenly collapse like in 2017. Even though these two cases are very different, and currently many support Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies as an investment.  I think those who are too skeptical of crypto are just old-fashioned economists.

Back in 2017, everyone know what happened. Bitcoin was overhyped and it went up by too much in very little time. Also, there was a lot of FOMO. Those who invested in Bitcoin near to peak prices ($15,000-$20,000) lost most of their capital in a matter of just 12 months. This time, the spike is more gradual. What we are witnessing now is the continuation of the bull run, which started after the block reward halving in 2020. But I have a feeling that many of the alts are still overpriced. Do you really think that coins such as Polkadot and Chainlink deserve valuations in excess of $10 billion?
2152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 15, 2021, 10:23:31 AM
Ashwin scored a century in a pitch when the top order players are struggling and there is plenty of time left in this match and two days is more than enough to pick the England wickets, India is leading with 471 runs and they will try to frustrate the England players and they will be tired when they come back to bat and that is the plan as they keep on batting the entire day.

Ashwin is from the same city and he was probably accustomed to the ground conditions. The England bowlers (especially the spinners) lost it after the first 1-2 hours of play, when Kohli and Ashwin built the partnership. Ideally the England captain could have used the pacers (Olly Stone and Stuart Broad), but for some unknown reason he was reluctant to do so. In the end it was Olly Stone who got Ashwin out.
2153  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hits Record $48.2K on: February 14, 2021, 07:16:47 PM
It will take some time to breach the $50,000 level, because the resistance is too strong. And also, it took almost a month to get past the $20,000 level. After hitting 19.5K, it took around 4 weeks to progress another $500. I assume getting past 50K may take even more time, and that is unless some whale jumps in with a few billion USD of funds. But once the 50K level is breached, it is going to be a smooth ride to 60-70K.
2154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OMG !!!!! You BitCoin people were right. I wish I had bought back in March :( on: February 14, 2021, 06:41:55 PM
Rather than whining, the noobs should invest in BTC with whatever funds they got right now. Back in 2019, I advised everyone to invest in BTC (you can check my posts from that time). I was telling everyone that it may be the last opportunity to grab some BTC at four digits. Well.. my prediction got delayed by one year or so (even in 2020 it was possible to purchase BTC under $10,000 per coin)... but those who listened to me are celebrating now.

My current advise is also the same. Invest in BTC without wasting any time. Because this may be the last opportunity to get some coins below $50,000 per coin. Once Bitcoin breaches the resistance level at $50K, then it is going to be another bull run.

My advice is based on solid facts. Right now we have only a few tens of millions of BTC users. With the growing adoption and acceptability, this number can increase by many times in the next few years. PayPal, Tesla, Master, Visa, Amazon, Apple.. all are going to jump in. If you wait until then, it is going to be too late.
2155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Three Indians arrested over illegal betting in ZACS on: February 14, 2021, 04:58:25 PM
From what i understand which i saw online they will be fined a minor amount of 100 Taka which is less than two dollar and an imprisonment of one month as per the laws and it is nothing big for someone who have the audacity to travel to Bangladesh and trying to take advantage of the telecast delay and then somehow manage to enter the stadium when audience are not allowed  Grin.

I am afraid that they won't be able to get away with a 100 Taka fine. That is the penalty for going out without a mask or defying the social distancing norms. These guys were trying to cheat gambling sites and the amounts involved is quite large. I won't be surprised if they get some sort of prison term. And the nationality is going to be another problem. Coming to Bangladesh with a tourist visa, and indulging in this sort of behavior won't be taken lightly by the court.
2156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 14, 2021, 02:05:02 PM
Indian batsman delivered and when it came to bowling, Ashiwn led from the front and with his 5 wickets haul changed the game totally and got England all out in just 134 runs. Rohit might be again on his road to make century tomorrow and this game is now totally under India's control and should even win it easily on 4th day itself.  How many thinks here wining the toss is like winning 50% of the game?

It is not 50%. It is more like 90%. If England was batting first, then we would have seen them with a similar advantage now. They could have made at least 250-260, if they had won the toss and elected to bat first. But fortunately for India, Kohli won the toss and that helped them a great deal. And the Indian bowlers performed exceptionally well, after the batsmen managed to put such a good total. Nice to see Rohit Sharma back to form in test format, after a rough patch.
2157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: February 14, 2021, 01:54:09 PM
Pakistan started superbly in this final T20. Half of the South africa team in back in the pavilion with  less than 50 runs on the board. The way they are plating look like they won't be able to make even 100 runs. Pakistani bowlers are unplayable at the moment.  Smiley

Pakistanis were perhaps complacent after the victory in the test series. They needed the shock treatment, which they got during the second T20 match. Now they are back to their regular form. Anyway, David Miller and Dwaine Pretorius are batting right how. Although this is the last recognized batting pair, both the batsmen are regarded as T20 specialists. Pakistan needs to be careful here. One more wicket, and the match will be firmly within their grasp.
2158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold Could be Next Bitcoin on: February 14, 2021, 01:36:44 PM
BCH will not replace BTC. Altcoins have their own market although they are sometimes linked to BTC movements in the market. trends may always change, but market movements have almost the same cycle. we can study the market even though it doesn't happen 100% exactly but it happens almost the same. the popularity of ICOs replaced by IEOs, and now the DeFi project has become a market concern to keep the market warm.

BCH had some powerful backers (and still have some), and that's how it was kept floating for so long. But the BSV hard fork weakened BCH by a great deal. Also, some of the promoters have tried to cash out their holdings and make exit. BCH still has a lot of future potential, especially at a time when BTC/ETH users are being forced to pay sky-high transaction fees. But first they need to put their house in order.
2159  Economy / Economics / Re: Will President Joe Biden be good for business? on: February 14, 2021, 01:25:31 PM
Almost one month Bidden become United State president nothing new announcement what his regulation on the future with bitcoin or altcoin, maybe many countries keep thinking focus with covid 19 and miss many other thing. Now they have try working every time how effective to make Covid 19 gone from their country and try thousand way to make all it clear.

Do you expect Joe Biden to make announcement regarding Bitcoin? I am afraid that it is not his job. The treasury secretary (Janet Yellen) on the other hand has issued a series of announcements related to cryptocurrency, and as expected all of them were hostile towards crypto. From what I can see, there will be much more regulations and scrutiny for cryptocurrency and its users in the Biden term when compared to the 4 years of Trump presidency.
2160  Economy / Economics / Re: You want to get rich, don’t pay taxes, don’t get married, don’t use bank, and... on: February 14, 2021, 01:13:45 PM
Taxes .. In this country I have no obligation to pay taxes.
I am married, and I don't plan on getting divorced, I will take care of her and keep her until I die.
Banks, without a bank today, my finances would be in chaos.
Wealth alone is not enough if I am not happy living this life.

Don't listen to the OP.. it's all BS. If his advice really worked, then people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos should not be billionaires. They got married (multiple times) and they always paid their taxes in time. On the other hand, I can show you dozens of people who have not married or paid a penny as taxes in their entire life. But these people are near bankrupt without any cash in their bank account. According to the OP, all these people should be multi-millionaires, right?
