They are good. 1.2a per port is the rating for it so it's good for USB miners. It's not the prettiest of hubs but I like the bare look. Hence why the Pi is out of its case now.

Cool Gt what usb hub are you running ? i dont notice it or did you build your own ? ive been thinking about modding my hub and changeing it all to run in a small case with good air flow also hows the s7 running with the filter on the fan did that change the temp a decent ammount or no ?

The USB hubs are from modmypi, they are a "hackable" 7port hub, come with power supply and USB cables for £5.99 each. I got two for the cable management of the gekkos and to spread the load. Didn't want to have six cables spread around the thing when getting two meant they are contained on the one side. It manages to run the raspi3 without getting the little colour square of doom which was a concern. But the raspi is connected to the hub at the back corner with a short and thick lead (18awg) I think which is ample for the pi.

The atx psu is underneath and out the way. I was hoping for slightly tidier cables but I may well revise it again yet.

The filter is just aquatic filter foam from the local aquatics centre. It doesn't stop all the dust so I've found out but it stops the majority. The temps rise about 3degrees with it on, but I struggle to keep the temps over 55c anyway so the extra 3degrees is helpful.
2223  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 100 watt or less miner.. With 16nm Chips.. on: September 29, 2016, 08:49:39 PM
A new Compac may be forthcoming depending on chip sources and the software guy currently working on a test stick.

I got some other sample chips and just got datasheets for them yesterday, and have already started scheming with software guys about what we want to do for a 1-chip stick and probably a 10-chip pod (estimate in the 80W peak power range) whose concepts will transfer pretty readily to a full S1 refit board. I won't set a tentative ETA because there are entirely too many variables, but I would really really like to be selling stick miners and maybe have some pods by Christmas.

I've taken a look at a few pictures of an s1 and it looks like the same basic construction of the s3. Two end plates that attach to the heatsinks on the hashboard. It's that how the pod miner will fit? I've got two end plates (where the fans attach) from an old s3 and was going to throw them out, but won't if they are useful.

I'm sooo stupid. I bet they have shut the shop because it's their Chinese national holiday.  Cheesy Cheesy
2225  Economy / Service Discussion / Can't access bitmains shop? on: September 29, 2016, 08:14:56 PM
Just tried to look to see if they have got new batches available and I can't seem to view it. Main site is up but "antminer" section isn't accessible.

Anyone else having problems?

Thought I'd share a picture of my little home mining setup. Due to electricity cost and amount I can use I'm very limited to what I can run. 1x S7LN (sidehack'd), 3x Gekkos running on a raspi3. All powered by the EVGA 850 P2. This lot is just breaking even at the moment.

First set up:-

Revised/Current set up:-

So you will only trust the users that the creato of the trust system trusts? That's a strange way to do business. Good luck with your trade
2228  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Tips on Cooling on: September 29, 2016, 12:19:41 AM
You could use a small inline fan like I use if you build some sort of enclosure for the exhaust end with a 5inch diameter opening. Hook the ducting straight upto the enclosure and direct out the window. Could probably even build it out of some decent cardboard and tape if you're worried about cost.

I'm thinking of buying an R4 but concerned about reliability considering the numerous failures that have plagued the S9
2229  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Tips on Cooling on: September 29, 2016, 12:01:35 AM
Extractor fan. I use an inline 5inch fan (that's usually for hydroponics), with some ducting to draw the hot air away and out the window.

In your case dependant on room size an open air fan behind the miners blowing the hot air towards the window might work.

On a different note. How are you finding the R4 in terms of reliability?
2230  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] .035 btc [W] $19.50 PayPal on: September 28, 2016, 08:33:07 PM
I can do this for you. PM me if you want to go ahead. Thanks.
2231  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 100 watt or less miner.. With 16nm Chips.. on: September 28, 2016, 07:58:35 PM
Looks like my little aluminium rig to house my atx breakout board, 12v converter, raspi and usb hubs and three gekkos wont go to waste after all then  Grin

2232  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S9 blade on S7 controller? on: September 28, 2016, 06:06:05 PM
That's for that info. So it's down to the headboards themselves and not just the controller. Very interesting. I wonder what gives the hash board it's set freq etc?

Not exactly sure what you mean by "default trust" member. Take a look at my feedback and see the numerous trades ive done with various people Wink
2234  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 100 watt or less miner.. With 16nm Chips.. on: September 28, 2016, 03:43:54 PM
You can always buy an S7-LN, undervolt and throw out the other blade and you'll have a 200W miner.

Ive got my sidehack'd S7LN running 445m and drawing 440watt at the wall and getting a shade over 2Th. So if you underclock it even more then you could well be below your 400watt limit and still be +1Th range which is more efficient than the R-boxes.
2235  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [Have] $30 BTC [Want] $30 PayPal on: September 28, 2016, 05:35:48 AM
I can do this trade with you if you are willing to send first. Please check my feedback for my previous trade history as proof I can be trusted. Thanks.
2236  Bitcoin / Hardware / S9 blade on S7 controller? on: September 27, 2016, 08:55:04 PM
Yet another curiousity question from me  Cheesy

Now I'm not very computer savvy when it comes to in depth things but I'm not stupid and open to learning etc

Basically can you run and S9 blade on an S7 controller? If not why not?

Thanks.
2237  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Have $2.10 PayPal for 0.0016 btc on: September 27, 2016, 08:36:50 PM
Thanks ya i know. I didnt knownwhat to do with $2.1 in PayPal lol I looked at lbc. Too and couldn't do it.

I don't expect to find someone..I'm just trying tho. Ya know..

And scammed for small ammountsnlike this??
Lol who even spends the time to do that for a dolla .  Lol

Totally appreciate where you're coming from but unfortunately its true. You'd be surprised the things people do to get a couple of bucks for nothing on the forum.
2238  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Have $2.10 PayPal for 0.0016 btc on: September 27, 2016, 08:31:05 PM
Im afraid you will find it hard to find a buyer. People have been scammed for these kind of small amounts. Plus seeing as your activity on the forum is 0 and you have no trust feedback your only option really is to save enough to use paxful. Good luck with your trade.
2239  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hacking the S7 - improving efficiency through minor hardware manipulation on: September 27, 2016, 08:03:08 PM
That's exactly the routine my S7LN does when I reboot it. After I hit the reboot button it:-

stops hashing - fans go full speed for 30-45 seconds - goes down to manual speed setting for 10-15 seconds - then full speed for another 10-20secs - then resumes normal hashing and fan speed settings (20% fan speed).

That's the normal sequence as far as I know as the reboot button on the GUI says (this may take 90seconds).

It says on your account that you have changed your password recently.

What reason did you have to do this?

Also why on your recent posts there was a BIG gap from April 7th 2016 to September 22nd 2016? why you didn't post?

Very suspicious behaviour selling btc, not completing a deal (well not having proof) then starting a deal to buy btc with PayPal?
