We never did see those 100+ masternodes appear did we?

A MN flare runs for me dropped. He has not replied yet - I guess he's busy - but I am curious. After the node dropped I deleted peers.dat (as he told me to do it last time it dropped), started the wallet again, and tried a masternode start. It gave me: Parse error: unbalanced ' or "I successfully changed the password but the a message after a masternode start this time was: not capable masternode: Unknown.Any idea what that means? Not that I worry, but in the ADD world I occupy, if flare does not respond in five minutes i start scouring the Net for answers. Than it downed on me, you guys know these thingies so please explain this issue to a poor n00b like myself... Flare is online on DCT now. I guess he is busy with .24 upgrades though. He'll be in touch with you as soon as he can... And hey, you might not have got a response from flare in five minutes but the big boss man himself replied instead

Guys, to my mind, we are in need of other exchange. I dont want to deal with C-CEX anymore. If you have some problems with deposit — it`s your problem, and you must pay for solution. More than that, Support is answering for a long time. It seems, the owners doesn`t know anything about customer loyalty.
Pay for solution when it's not your fault? Are you joking? You guys better take your coins out of that scam and contact bittrex asap. let's vote on bter,if you have some BTR. I thought bter have been implicated in the bitbay debacle? Yeah,I've also heard someone said that, but it's just a wild guess without any solid proof. Bter is still a secure exchange with decent trading volumn at present. Yeah its pretty hard to see the FUD from the trees nowadays. I've seen a chat transcript and thats hardly something that is unforgeable! It might be quirky and slow but since Mintpal V1 died I've found cryptsy to be the best. There are plenty of smaller exchanges with good interfaces but just not enough volume for some coins. Cex.io for example.

Anybody got any suggestions on what is causing the general crypto slump today?

When masternodes and darksend finished,I expect 5GH/s hashrate.
Are there any indications on how many Spreadcoins you will need to operate a masternode? Is there a rough timeline for the introduction of masternodes to Spreadcoin? I'm hoping for 1000SPR collateral and a 50-50 block reward split. 1440 blocks per day... I'm interested to hear what the roadmap for the next few months for this coin is. Maybe I'll get some more info as the US wakes up. I've read pretty much all of this thread and can't find much in terms of concrete plans from the devs but could easily be missing something. Not many clues in Github either. Decentralized mining is your dream thelonecrouton!

Also, any idea what caused the huge hash rate jump last night? Can't all be CPU miners... Maybe it is a idiosyncrasy of the Spreadcoin QT but the network hashrate was only reported as 3Mhps last night and its over 2Ghps today. Have I misunderstood something or have you attracted hundreds of new miners overnight?
It was around 1 Gh/s. Did you really saw 3 Mh/s? Maybe it was old hashrate shown during sync? You are indeed correct, it was during sync. Apologies, didn't realise that the historical hashrate was in the blockchain. Still a big jump in mining though! Even if not as huge as I first thought

Anything new or exciting about this coin?
I have plans to improve it in the future but nothing particular is yet implemented. Currently there are just some small improvements like fixed year 2106 problem. So what is your development plan Mr Spread? What are you going to create in addition to darksend and masternodes? I'm really interested to see how totally decentralised mining works out. This is something that quite a few of the Darkcoin community members have been discussing for some months. Also, any idea what caused the huge hash rate jump last night? Can't all be CPU miners... I've been reading your thread since page 1 looking forward to your lead dev announcing hi/her plans for future features. I check there once or twice a week and look forward to see what your team are going to do.
EDIT: which means I'm only going to post about your coin on your thread from now on.

Their network hashrate went from 2Mhps to 2Ghps overnight last night. Not sure how that happened. They plan to implement darksend and masternodes and also partner up with bter. Spreadcoindark is their plan.

Anyone knows why average spacing between DarkCoin blocks is approximately 157 seconds instead of 150 seconds? I remember that when creating SpreadCoin several months ago I noted that there is a small bug in DarkCoin difficulty retarget which causes block generation to be a bit slower than it should be. But it seems that I lost this knowledge. When I'm now looking at difficulty retarget it looks correct to me, although a bit obfuscated.
This has been known for some time and isn't worth fixing. I'll explain why: https://github.com/darkcoin/darkcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L1607https://github.com/darkcoin/darkcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L1453One of them is computing 24 blocks and one is computing 23. So: 1/24.0 == 0.0416 2.5*1.0416 == 2.604 (minutes) Statistically it's doing exactly what it should! I'm loving the fact that you're spotting stuff like this Mr Spread. This is what makes open source so worthwhile

Please, let's not start flamewar here. Everyone makes mistakes, we are all human after all.
I don't think there is risk of a flame war. Its just generally a good idea to ignore somebody with a new account who turns up denouncing a coin in it's official thread and promoting another one. It helps avoid flame wars.

Mining isn't my thing but judging by the stack of S3+ and S4 units that a friend has asked me to sell for him I assumed that the S5 was not too far off...
Most likely your mate wants to sell because profit is not worth the noises after cost of electricity at current BTC price. I'm using my S1s, S3s and S4 as space heaters and make little profit. My flat is so hot that I have to keep my windows open. Either your electric cost per kwh is high or your pool is not paying enough because I am making profit using S3's and S4's. $.12 a kwh electric and Slush pool. Winning combination. Power prices are about $0.24 KWh in London for a standard domestic electricity tariff but my friend uses a power broker to negotiate much lower rates than that because his farm is in his industrial printing plant and his farm uses a small percentage of his overall consumption. As to why he is backing out of mining I'm not sure but I suspect he doesn't have the time to dedicate to mining to justify the slimmer profit margins. I'll try to have a proper discussion with him about it before he pulls the plug . He's a canny businessman so I'm sure his reasons are sound and personal to his own circumstances. I'm not sure on numbers but I think he has a lot of hardware. I remember him saying something about 30 S4s at some point. When he finds out how much I'll charge him in commission to sell them maybe he'll change his mind Thats rubbish pricing, I have $0.13 in standard residential in the UK. I know. These are the most recent figures I can find for London (base tariff) British Gas: 15.1 pence per kWh EDF Energy: 16.0 pence per kWh nPower: 16.2 pence per kWh E.ON Energy: 14.8 pence per kWh (2012 increase not included) ScottishPower: 16.8 pence per kWh SSE: 15.5 pence per kWh

The Spreadcoin dev is reviewing the Darkcoin code and just posted this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=715435.msg9839488#msg9839488Mr.spread,what's status of masternode and darksend developmnet?
It is far from ready yet but I think I found a potential vulnerability in DarkCoin which allows miners (actually pools) to not pay part of the block reward to masternodes. DarkCoin wallet checks the following things for each new block: 1) There is a payment to master node. 2) There is a payment with the same amount as a payment to master node should be (30%). But there is no check that this is the same payment. This means that if you generate a block you can pay 0.0000001 DRK to masternode and pay 30% and (70% - 0.0000001 DRK) to yourself as separate coinbase outputs. Such blocks should be accepted by DarkCoin network but I haven't tested it on testnet so I can't be 100% sure. I don't want any vulnerabilities out the wild so thought I'd check here. This is what happens when "Enforcement" is off, right? Or is this a separate issue and potential vulnerability? Patched: https://github.com/darkcoin/darkcoin/commit/ee8174a2c690b995003449a046b036d87ae25b5d (sorry, trimmed space after every line) Compiling 10.17.24 now, feel free to update from source Is there any reward for discovering bugs and vulnerabilities? I have found several other bugs. Speak to Ed. Thanks for your help.
