2323  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Technical Questions on: April 14, 2023, 04:05:02 AM
As mikeywith said, the risk would be to make some serious damages to your hardware with this strategy.

You could power on your ASICs during 3 days per month, you would have the same number of shares submitted, and less risk, less things to do yourself like that.
Or you could just mine with 10% of your S19s h24.

In general my ASICs need 5-10 minutes to mine at their full potential after I've power them on but it depends of the firmware.  Sometimes, some pools need some more time to show the shares submitted and the real hashrate you are sending to them. Even if the shares are ok and still accounted, it shows some low values during the first hour.
With stock Bitmain firmware it takes a longer time to run stable and at full hashrate, than with Braiinos for example. But Braiinos is stealing 2% (not sure about this number but it's the one I think I remember) of your shares as a dev fee...

2324  Economy / Speculation / Re: Progression in price on: April 14, 2023, 03:56:52 AM
Yeah, Bitcoin's progress is efficient as we enter 2023. For now, everything is looking to go really in a smooth way.

However, there are no guarantees about the future.  Neither Adam Back nor anyone else can predict anything about the price of Bitcoin in the future: his predictions could turn out to be right or completely wrong.

However, I am quite optimistic about the price of BTC going up in the next year or so, the halving is in about 1 year and we all know that this implies (historically anyway) some very interesting price movements.

I hope you're right about 70k in December, but better to wait and see what happens rather than waste energy trying to make calculations and predictions. As said, we are one year away from halving, the hardest part is done (I mean for the holders who bought after previous bull), we just have to wait a little bit and keep an eye on the rates.

2327  Economy / Reputation / Re: 🛑 Be aware from these type of scammer 🚫 ☠ on: April 13, 2023, 04:39:13 PM
Thank you for sharing this with us, and in such detailed way.

As always, some people are desperate enough to dare anything. I sincerely hope that no one will fall into the trap, especially newbies, but I don't think it will work. And apparently, he already switched to another personnality on TG / another scam  Grin
This will not affect Royse's reputation in any way, as everyone will soon be aware of the deception and most people dealing with Royse are regulars on the forum and know about this type of scam.

I would have liked to give you merits for this useful post, I don't have any more smerits at the moment, but I'll add your topic to my list of topics to merit

2329  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 273 blocks solved! on: April 13, 2023, 04:44:46 AM
Playing a little bit with that tool brings 1 more question

if the tool says I get a block every 3 days what are the potential rate of getting more than 1 block every three days?

Because the second block is the one that may include the profits and coverage for somedays

like once a month? any insights for this?

3 more days is the answer with an average luck of 100%.

If you want to have more than 1 block in 3 days in this example, you would need more hashrate, or a lot of luck..

Super nice to see that you are handling this contest !

I predict the high on 2023/5/22 will be 1 BTC = 31120 CHF

Wish you all good luck !

2332  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Viable Alternative to Fiat Currency on: April 12, 2023, 07:35:35 PM
I'm not sure that's the real point of Bitcoin, is it?
For everyday expenses, I like FIAT ou stablecoins. Personally I see Bitcoin more as a form of savings account for the very long term, more as a storage value than a way of spending my "everyday needs".

I think that at the moment Bitcoin is too volatile, and that is a huge brake to make it a realistic alternative to all fiat currencies.
However, it's not so sure, when you look at the case of Turkey or Lebanon for example, their national FIAT is very volatile too, and that in a not so positive way...

For the moment I don't want to spend my BTC for my daily life, it would be a waste in my opinion. We'll see in a few decades, the BTC I have left, I want to keep it for the very long term.
2333  Economy / Gambling / Re: chinese bookmakers with tf gaming platform NO KYC on: April 12, 2023, 07:19:12 PM
btc365 now its scamming site, they blocked 90% accounts , so I'm looking for something similar
I still don't understand why newbies come on here looking for trusted online casinos but end up using online casinos with ruined reputations or scam past histories, why are you even trying to use this website called btc365 when there are many good online casinos on this forum? We wear strong online casinos signatures because of people like you, there is DuelBits, Roobet, Rollbit, and many more that give satisfying services to their customers, if KYC verification is what you are trying to avoid well it's not going to favor much because the biggest online casinos ask for KYC verification to keep their business out of trouble from the authorities.

Exactly!

Why would you want to look for a casino similar to the one you accuse of scamming?

This is complete nonsense! I don't understand the approach at all.
As you say, if OP is able to come and open a topic here, it means that he is able to do his research on the forum, and legit casinos are not what is missing around here.

OP may be part of the people who demand a regulated and licensed casino security, without wanting to go through KYC. One day people will understand, that in a long term perspective, KYC does not handicap them, but in general means protection for the end user and the casino operator himself.

I think completely differently.

KYC does not really protect anyone, but is an elementary element of mass control and surveillance of people by controlling their financial condition and financial flows.
All the data of people who have passed in a particular casino or exchange, or in general on some kind of KYC site, in the end, still end up in a single population database.  Both private and public databases.  And this data is naturally completely at the disposal of special services, the banking sector and other authorized government bodies.
In the end, KYC is just data that a person gives voluntarily, as a rule, and does not realize that this simply tightens the noose of surveillance and control around his neck in some exceptional and extreme circumstances.  And in the life of people after all, there are all sorts of circumstances.  Including many have to hide from creditors, and such a person is not a criminal at all, but simply an unlucky person.  This is where this damn KYC helps lenders to catch such an unlucky person.  And I repeat - not a criminal and not a scammer at all !!!  And a person who just got into a difficult life situation!

And what is at least some benefit of KYC for this person?  There is no benefit at all!  Only one harm!!!

That's a really interesting point of view, I can understand it.

I'm not sure that it's really a tool for mass control (at least now.), in the sense that there is no database that I know of that would centralize the different KYC that people have passed.
They are only used, I mean data like POI POA and EDD/SOF only in case of problems. Otherwise it just stay in stock.

Let's take the example of a French person who does a KYC with Binance, Coinbase, or Nicehash, whatever.
For a French person living in the European Union, his KYC will be processed by Jumio or Idnow, which are the two processors in charge of FRs residing in the European Union.
These two processors do not store the data, the GDPR forbids them to do so. They process the KYC, and give the validation (or not) to the company that pays them for that, in our example the CEX.
It is this said company that will store the KYC information for a maximum of 6 years.
If this same Frenchman does another KYC, but at MEXC website for example, or another CEX, neither Jumio/Idnow, nor MEXC, nor the other CEXs will know that he has already been KYC'd elsewhere. KYC are not centralized and because of that, IMO they are not usable as a tool of control right now.

For me, KYC allows the company to know who it is dealing with, to be sure that you are not listed in a SAR file or wanted by any authorities.
In return, the customer is guaranteed to be treated honestly in theory, because thanks to KYC he can prove that his funds are linked to his identity and it becomes legally complex to seize him without a valid reason.
It's always the same thing, the balance between security and decentralization comes at the cost of losing a little of one or the other.

You mentioned the example of the unlucky guy which has debts or issues with Taxes authority, In this case, I would directly use P2P from a personnal point of view,. KYC is never an absolute necessity for those who oppose it and refuse it.
There is no situation where a KYC is totally mandatory as long as you are able to use P2P systems, but I strongly believe that having a KYC linked to a CEX account, where you don't really do business (only a few buys for example) is a best way to hide yourself. You do your KYC, some small buys, and on the side, if you use Bisq or any P2P solution, autorities will just consider the CEX trades. It is less suspicious than no KYC at all if you are already flagged for some illegal crypto things related or anything. No KYC at all could be a red flag for autorities if you have been flagged in the past, no ?

2334  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: #2 [Hot] Sell your hash power to me on: April 12, 2023, 07:01:03 PM
Hi !

How much do you pay per Th/s ?

Do you plan to adjust the price depending of the market ? Price of BTC/difficulty etc..
I could be interested, I have some hundreds of Th/s that I could rent to you.

May I ask you why you don't use Nicehash or Mining Rig Rental ?
Is it because you are avoiding to create an account there or you don't like these companies ?

I will follow your topic and we stay in touch
2335  Local / Débutants / Re: Signer un message avec Electrum pour les nuls on: April 12, 2023, 06:54:47 PM
Bonjour

Standalone Executable   Signatures
Windows Installer   Signatures
Portable version (security advice)   Signatures

2337  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Why dont bitcoin hardware manufacturers re release old equip with smaller node on: April 10, 2023, 06:36:37 PM
To make BTC more decentralised != To make more money...
A farm will buy thousands of miners at once
Hobby miners 1-10 at once
Much less headache and more money invested in farms

Yeah exactly, Bitmain and other manufacturers just don't care about retails and home-miners.
The target is the professionals who order dozen and hundreds of ASICs.

You can get 10TH/s for about 900w with a Braiinos firmware, at least that's more or less what I get on my R4s (which have similar hashboards to the S9s)

Quote
Apollo and merch have 1-3T\HASH mining hardware but the hardware is not upto the mark and after sales is not that good.

Sidehack, like some other members, is very active on the forum and offers continuous support on its productions.
Personally, I have always been able to find solutions to my problems, with all the Gekkoscience products I have had.
If it's a really desperate case, there is also the Kano server on discord, there is a Gekko section where you can find help for almost all models, it's very reactive.

Quote
Imagine having a S9i @ 13.5T/hash @ 5nm which only consumes 400W backed by a solar power system.

Yeah we all agree, but that's not the goal of Bitmain IMO.
2338  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Our ordinal NFT project (M_F_I_T_A) on: April 10, 2023, 06:26:36 PM
To be honest it's pretty hard to give an objective and valid opinion with only one twitter link as reference to the project.

Could you tell us more? What will give value to the project? Which added value concretely?
How much NFTs will you mint in total?/

After that, I might be concerned about your middle fingers  Grin. I have nothing against cryptos, on the contrary, and I have nothing against NFTs. I don't like Ordinals and what they do, and from a personal point of view, I keep hoping that it's just a collective fad, and that once the users involved get tired of it, we'll be able to get back to normal fee transactions on a regular basis. I'm not opposed to it, because everyone does what they want with blockchain : we all agree that as long as it's possible, it's doable. I just don't think that everything that is doable should necessarily be done.
2339  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is "Mastering Bitcoin" from Andreas Antonopoulos suited for normal people? on: April 10, 2023, 06:15:59 PM
Yeah absolutely, anyone can go to github and start reading this book, no problem in theory. Of course, if you have some basic knowledge of at least one programming language, some parts will seem more "straight forward" but if you are a complete beginner, the first chapters are accessible to absolutely everyone who has some knowledge of technology.

Here is a quote from the author which is self-explanatory:
Quote
Mastering Bitcoin is a book for developers, although the first two chapters cover bitcoin at a level that is also approachable to non-programmers. Anyone with a basic understanding of technology can read the first two chapters to get a great understanding of bitcoin.

Personally, I had a little difficulty with chapter 7. I only had a few basics in python and C++, at the time some things seemed a bit complex.

But the goal of this kind of reading is to give you as much knowledges as possible, so you have nothing to lose by trying to read it Smiley
