Le process cold-hot wallet chez Binance peut prendre pas mal de temps (des fois 10-15 heures), seules certaines personnes sont aptes à le faire et la structure pyramidale de l'entreprise n'aide pas toujours.

Je suggère ça parce qu'on avait constamment exactement le même problème avec les retraits XMR.
Quand la communauté XMR décidait de faire ce qu'ils appellent un "Monero Run", il fallait recharger le hot wallet et les retraits étaient donc désactivés pendant ce moment là.

Et s'ils disent la vérité, que c'est uniquement du à la congestion de la mempool c'est effectivement bof. Mais d'un autre côté ils doivent avoir la flemme de devoir gérer 15000 tickets par minute : "EH MÉ ILS SNT OU MES BTC ? VS ME LES AVEZ VOLÉ RENDEZ MOI MES BTC!!!"
Ceux qui n'ont jamais lu de tickets de support chez un CEX ne peuvent pas imaginer la bêtise de l'utilisateur de CEX moyen...

Le jour où les gens comprendront qu'il faut retirer vers son propre wallet directement après l'achat, et qu'ils arrêteront d'attendre une hype passagère pour cashout, ils seront moins exposés à ce problème, en tout cas pour les utilisateurs de Binance. Mieux, le jour où ils découvriront le P2P, cela leur évitera deux ou trois montées de tension

Otherwise, to answer OP, the only intelligent way to consider mining is to know your electrical cost per kw/h, to understand the basic notions (difficulty, luck, types of payments according to the pools etc...), and to know where and from whom to buy your equipment so as not to get ripped off.

Je regarde ce topic régulièrement et quelque chose m'échappe.
J'ai beau être personnellement impliqué dans le mining de BTC, je ne comprends pas son intérêt, le hashrate ne fera de toute façon qu'augmenter encore et encore, et battra toujours de nouveaux records.

Plus le temps passe, plus d'ASICs sont fabriqués. On voit bien que même pendant une période de ressources limitées et de pénuries, les géants en produisent et vendent toujours plus. Il suffit de voir les livraisons effectuées par Bitmain depuis le début 2023 pour s'en rendre compte.
Pour un S9/S17 qui meurt et qu'on éteint parce que son rapport Th/s / USD devient obsolète, deux S19 sortent de production et sont mis en ligne.
Si en plus tu prends en compte que les chips vont devenir de plus en plus performantes, on peut se douter que le hashrate global ne va cesser d'augmenter, et malheureusement (pour les moyens et petits miners au moins) la difficulté avec en parallèle.

Si demain les USA ou la Russie bannissent le mining, le hashrate baissera un peu, mais reviendra à l'identique une fois que les farms auront expédié et installé leur matos ailleurs.
(cf exemple de la Chine il y a deux ans par exemple).

Il n'y a aucune raison de voir le global hashrate ou la difficulté baisser avec le temps, alors pourquoi vouloir répertorier chaque nouveau record ? Est-ce que tu fais ça à titre purement personnel comme un blog ou es-tu sincèrement surpris de voir le hashrate augmenter tout le temps ?

De plus je trouve que le global hashrate  en tant que valeur pure ne compte pas tant que ça en soi, la manière dont il est réparti entre les pools et la proportion de solo blocks représente (de mon point de vue) plus d'intérêt.

I would be surprised if the FSB, GRU and SVR kept their bitcoins in a hotwallet or on a CEX.

J'imagine que ça doit aussi être un marché très porteur, en tout cas ça devrait le rester tant que les IA ne sont pas parfaites et que leur contenu restera donc imparfait. J'arrive pas à concevoir que de grosses boites dans des domaines spécifiques (je veux dire potentiellement fortement impactés par l'émergence des IA) n'aient pas intérêt à disposer de tels outils.

J'avais lu un texte là dessus il y a quelques semaines (je viendrai éditer et mettre le lien quand je l'aurai retrouvé), qui explique que certaines IA auront des sortes de "watermark" intégrées au contenu généré. Le but serait de pouvoir vérifier que celui qui a posté a effectivement payé pour utilisé l'IA en question.
J'imagine que plein de pistes sont exploitables pour détecter ces contenus, mais je suis un peu dépassé par ça pour le moment.

Quelqu'un qui gère des employés de chat-support m'a dit que Zendesk (un outil très utilisé pour le support par Ticket / Chat) pourra bientôt disposer d'un plugin qui détectera les textes issus de ChatGPT, avec une tolérance assez grande pour le moment.. Cela devrait permettre aux agents Qualité d'avoir une "note" qui leur indique si suspicion il y a ou pas quant à l'usage de GPT... Je suis sceptique si c'est du même niveau que les sites de type "GPT-detector" etc qui sont pour l'instant toujours contradictoires entre eux quand tu copies un même texte, mais ça devrait se développer un jour ou l'autre.

I live in a country where corruption is pretty high, and where everyone with big money/big business knows that some of their money will have to go into the pockets of some shitty civil servant if they don't want to see their project put on hold for obscure reasons. I imagine that BTC would help them more than penalize them, as managing large amounts of money in BTC is much easier than with cash or shady bank transfers between two "companies" as they do here.

I don't think BTC can help in any way unfortunately, even if BTC allows the absence of a trusted 3rd party, and has a transparent ledger, it is not enough.

Like for all miners, solo or pool, each block is always solved by 1 ASIC somewhere. Whether solo or in a pool, the miner (or a pool's miner in the case of pool) needs to solve the block to receive the block reward.

So those who mine solo enjoy the block reward without sharing it, but the probability of getting it is slim (as others have said it depends on hashrate and luck, it's totally random)

Many people mine solo with a small percentage of their hashrate, this allows them to keep a more or less stable income and have a small part of the hashrate left over like a lottery ticket.

If we had a time machine, I'd make sure I didn't start smoking, and then I wouldn't have to spend tens of BTC on smoking stuff bought on the internet for a few years. 

More seriously, it doesn't make much sense, the idea of the time machine. In any case the price would have changed drastically if someone had come along at that time with a knowledge of what BTC was going to be, right?

In my case, I would have left CPUs running at the time when you could still mine with such low difficulty that it's downright ridiculous now. I imagine that if everyone was doing this with a time machine, the difficulty of BTC would have been directly much higher and the interest would be lost.

I agree 100% with pooya87, there's no point in going through the trouble for nothing. Let's buy when we can and wait, we always have an open door to make nice profits. If you have the investment  capacity and the low $ rate per kw/h, mine and hodl, you will thank yourself later

Doesn't buying a used hardware wallet necessarily mean buying it from an unofficial store? In any case, I will never buy a used hardware wallet, it seems to me to be extremely risky and not worth it.

I would rather, if I was looking to spend as little as possible, use Electrum and make a clean cold storage on an old laptop or device I have lying around.
