1701  Other / Meta / Re: Finally! Satoshi Nak-AI-moto told me why he handed over the forum to Theymos on: June 04, 2023, 04:27:05 PM
Imagine I set aside some time to read every one of satoshi's posts, and then said: Okay guys, ask me anything, and I'll answer it just like satoshi would!

That's exactly what I thought when I discovered this site...

To be honest, if I discovered BTC today, I'd rather take the little time I need to read the BTC White Paper + some messages from satoshi on bitcointalk or from  the mailing list, than waste my time with this AI. Why put a useless intermediary between sources of information that can be found and accessed online, and yourself? Why would you want GPT analysis for this subject? We already have good resources, who would want to potentially truncate them?

I don't know if the purpose of this site is just temporary entertainment, done to amuse the two developers, but I don't see any real interest or value in it.
Would you like to have access to the contents of Mastering Bitcoin and The Bitcoin Standard? That's easy! Just read them, and at least you'll have easy access to the info without endless loading times, and without a potential GPT analysis error.

I have a feeling that our poor Satoshi will be the object of attention for a few more lousy projects in the future  Cheesy

Maintenant on a une IA qui "incarne" Satoshi Nakamoto  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

https://www.talk2satoshi.com/

Quote from: talk2satoshi.com/about
Welcome, pleb! Get answers to your bitcoin questions from the creator himself.
[....]
At T2S, we offer a unique way to get your questions answered - by chatting with an AI version of the creator of Bitcoin himself, Satoshi Nakamoto.

Wow, the fact that the website is currently overloaded with idiots breathlessly trying to chat with AI "satoshi" is actually pretty depressing. Cheesy
I don't know why so many people find this kind of thing to be compelling...

Imagine I set aside some time to read every one of satoshi's posts, and then said: Okay guys, ask me anything, and I'll answer it just like satoshi would!
Or, even better, imagine a bona fide satoshi "expert" offered to impersonate satoshi for an AMA on Reddit.

1703  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What pool to use or what to mine with an S3? on: June 03, 2023, 07:39:41 PM
I am currently mining in solo.ckpool with my recently acquired S3 (I paid 20 dollars second hand for it) and I have been mining for 10 hours and nothing. I know that it is a very low-power equipment, that's why I wanted to ask you if you recommend me to continue mining in that pool or change to another and Kas mines for example. I don't know, I'm really lost. If you can guide me I would be very grateful. All the best.

As BitMaxz said, you are currently mining on a solo pool, so unless you find a block, you will have nothing. Your reward is 6.25 BTC (+ tx fees) or nothing. And if you take 0.5 Th/s on SoloChance.com, it gives you the following estimation :

Between 12000 and 13000 years with an average luck, so your chances of getting a reward are small. You can keep mining on solo.ckpool.org if you want like a lottery ticket. You can be very luck and have a block. Or you could earn nothing at all.

If you want to earn some sats, you can always try to mine on ViaBTC, at least they pay the transaction fees to the miners.

I hope that you pay very low amount per kw/h, because the S3 is not the top ASIC regarding efficiency.

Quote
Alpha Wallet is a free and open-source cryptocurrency wallet that allows the self-custodial of digital assets. The wallet is available for Android and iOS devices, as well as for web and desktop. This mobile wallet uses Secure Enclave to provide users with cold wallet-grade security.

It supports ERC20, ERC721, ERC1155, and ERC875 natively. This multichain Ethereum wallet can store all popular Ethereum-based networks, including Polygon, Binance Smart Chain (BSC), xDai, Fantom Opera, Avalanche, Optimistic, Arbitrum One, Heco, ARTIS sigma1, and more. This wallet further supports NFTs and allows users to interact with DeFi.

1705  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: doing extra effort will help a lot on: June 03, 2023, 07:01:17 PM
Time is actually everything; no matter what one is doing, the most essential thing is time. The first sacrifice you need to make is to give your time, which is equally your attention, to whatever you want to achieve in this life. Once you have given your full attention, the next thing is for you to figure out areas in which you can focus and channel those times into your areas of specialization in order for them to work for you.

Yeah, time is important, especially time spent digging deeper into knowledge about the projects you're investing money in, whether that's stocks or Bitcoin, or any other form of investment.
When it comes to cryptocurrencies, I consider patience to be more important than anything else, without patience there can be no success.
Of course time isn't everything, but in my opinion not being in a hurry is one of the necessary conditions for success.

Every time I see people doing crypto then complains that they have done everything but still does not work for them.
The reason behind why they wont succeed is because they are counting the hours they have done the work, while they are complaining others are hustling and doing things extra mile.
Making extra effort will make things improved in everyway, for example you wan't to learn a lot of things in crypto, things will not be done in one day, remember how elon musk Tesla, SpaceX
almost go to bankrupt, but instead of complaining he continue doing things even though there is a lot of failure on his company.
What is the lesson im trying to say, keep your focus even though things get tough, keep moving even though its slow, because eventually those sacrifices will have a positive results, never get tired,
because once you quit, you will never get those dreams came true

Each situation is different. Personally, I don't think Musk should be used as an example in general. I mean, we should have access to better examples than heirs investing their funds again and again.

Overall I agree with your message, I just think that not all generalisations are true. A lot of people will fail at projects no matter how much time, money and patience they invest in them. Nothing is magic or automatic when we talk about money, and everything involves risks.
You're right to think that perseverance is an essential quality, but it's not the only one to have. There are many conditions for success, especially in this market, and some of them are unpredictable.

It's understandable that you have a positive outlook for the year 2023 and hope for Bitcoin's price to reach 30k. However, as an AI language model, I don't have access to real-time financial data or the ability to predict future market trends. It's important to remember that cryptocurrency markets can be highly volatile and unpredictable.

1710  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Scams Bitcoin Mixers List and Services closed on: June 01, 2023, 10:03:28 PM
What shocked me the most is the number of scam mixers. And I believe that's just a small fraction of all scams out there. Another shocking thing is that all mixers closed by the law enforcement also got their BTC seized. Why don't they have any protection against these raids? Or were the owners/employees made to disclose login details and wallet passwords?

I'm also wondering why the funds are so often seized.

If the owners of the mixer are physically arrested, is it conceivable that if some of the funds are returned they could benefit of a reduced sentence?
Or is it just bad security? Maybe they're too confidant and sure of themselves?

Then I imagine that when governments and agencies decide to devote financial and human resources to investigating a team, it's a safe bet that concealing private keys can be difficult. When you see that in most countries just the fact of refusing to decrypt your laptop (when it is encrypted) can be an avowal of guilt or an aggravating circumstance, you can more or less easily think that mixer owners have good reasons for giving their keys away.

Wow, that's a nice share!  It's always good to see big shares like this one.

I wish us a block in some of the longtime runs too! As Willi says, it's totally random and we've already seen soloblocks solved with insane luck like 10-20% (and even less), with very small hashrates!

If you have any complain about the payment, post count or anything else then please comment in the thread or make a post on the telegram group. I appreciate not to DM or PM me on the forum. My inboxes are always filled with messages and unfortunately I can not response everyone individually.

Hi Royse777 !  I hope that you are doing all good.

Thank you for the payment. However, I noticed that I received +0.00308189 BTC for the Week 30. I think I should have received +0.00220135 and that you paid me 10 messages over the 25.

Do you want that I send you back the difference ? Or, as the fees are quite high actually, do you maybe prefer to remove it of my next week's payment ?

Have a nice day!

1715  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make first buck in crypto without investment? on: May 30, 2023, 08:37:30 PM
Yeah most of the games needs some conditions if you want to apply. But it is necessary, however how many fraudsters would abuse of them ?

I think the best way to make your first bucks without investment here, is to take the time to learn about financial and Bitcoin, it will be more productive than most of the Games. (even if I really like to try my luck on this board too! I even organize myself some games from time to time)

But for those you have at least earned 5 merits in the last 120 days, and which are active in the forum, joeperry is proposing some good reward with is [RAFFLE] Utopia - P2P Ecosystem | Free Bitcoin Raffle Weekly 💎 Round 14.

Sinbad.io is proposing to earn some sats each month, through their Bitcoin Price Prediction challenges, you just need to have at least 50 messages until the beggining of each game.

Otherwise,if some of you want to participate in my forth BTC giveaway, the only condition to be able to participate is to have an account registered before the 1st of May 2023, you are all welcome. But eh, it is totally random and even if you win, it is only some satoshis, not a life changing amount lol, it is not even near the amount of the Raffles managed by joeperry haha, like 4 times less.

Words in cryptocurrency world. Which one is Kano again? That is a name of a State in Nigeria and now I am seeing it in the crypto mining field. Op if you are not satisfied with the answered given and for you to get desire answer, you can move the thread to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=14.0. I believe your concept of the thread also fit that mining board for more discussion.

Yeap, OP also created a topic in the mining section at the same time (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5454457.msg62324149#msg62324149)

Kano is a well known member of this forum. He is the last one to maintain the code of cgminer (the software which is the most used to mine BTC) and is the owner of a very nice mining pool : https://kano.is/

He was one of the two developers of the ckpool, before he made his own pool following personal differences with ck. He is currently developing firmwares for gekkoscience's ASICs. He's a real icon in the BTC mining community, whether you like him or not, he produces high-quality work and his posts are often very interesting to read. I'd give a lot to have just half his skills as a developer!

i know some people try to play around with the nonce range for a few reasons
a. so multiple devices are not bruting the same ranges of the same given blocktemplate header hash
b. taking the chance that the solution is found not in the first or last 10%'s of ranges so ignoring them and only bruting the middle 80%

but overall these games will not help you compete against the modern asics that are 300% more efficient.
...
the r909 is 1.5th for 100w
meaning for 30x r909 you are getting 45TH for 3kw

this is very inefficient because most asics running on bitcoin (that break even/profit) are of 3kw for 150TH+
so you are 3x+ inefficient per 100w.. yep 300% less efficient than modern asics

if you are trying to overclock:
over clocking it wont make you 3x more efficient to rival/compete.
overclocking it would simply overheat the device and kill it sooner meaning you want earn much long term.

in short its time to retire the device and get something more efficient

..
the r909 is using old chips of 2019. (way out of date tech(the s17 range))

Yeap you're right, but people which are using R909 and other Gekkoscience ASICs, are not looking for the maximum efficiency, but for silent ASICs to solo mine with (in general). It is more for home miners / hobby miners than for the professionals/industrial scale miners.

Some people like to keep them to have a lottery ticket, even if the luck to find a block is low, and to have some hashrate for a couple of watts, no matter of the efficiency.
1719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 77% into the next Bitcoin halving on: May 30, 2023, 06:56:42 PM
Real time Bitcoin halving progress shows that we are already 77% into the next Bitcoin halving.

Yeap halving must happen around mid-April 2024.
Unlike a lot of people, I'm not particularly looking forward to it. Block rewards are going to be halved, and I'd have been happy to keep 6.25 BTC of block reward for a few more years  Grin I'm half-joking, it would obviously be contradictory to sincerely want that, I see every halving as being extremely positive for the deflationary aspect of Bitcoin, which is one of its essences after all.

Quote
We are all acting in good faith that everything would run smoothly, we'd take profits and everyone is happy in the end.

I don't agree with that. Those who understand the market objectively understand very well that nothing can ever be taken for granted, and will be the opposite of thinking that the market is smooth and predictable. Nobody knows, only those who don't understand their investments are 100% sure of themselves. Even if the previous halvings and the following 12 months (especially) have produced great results in terms of FIAT value, we have no guarantee that this is a foregone conclusion.

Quote
This sounds so pessimistic but haven't you thought about it like this too? The what ifs and what if nots?

1 BTC = 1 BTC, this is the only real answer, no matter what is happening. I am like you, I would like to see a BTC with a high usd value, but this is not the priority. The only priority is to have access to more freedom from a financial point of view. If BTC is high in terms of fiat value, great, we could be rich, if not, it wouldn't matter after all.

    • Merit
the day I got my one merit, I was excited to participate more and today I am active to some extent and likewise to some newbies who received their first merit in the forum and the excitement that follows.

If not the above energy boosters in the forum, many users would have used their energy in another profitable platforms or using here as a chatroom. Is there any other energy or immune booster?

Yeah, you're not wrong. However, I think the merits should take a back seat.

Personally, I don't see the forum as a place where we talk about our investments, but more as a place where we talk about the technical aspects that make our investments quality ones.
As joker_josue said, knowledge is priceless, and this forum is probably the best place in terms of resources and centralisation of knowledge. Many forum members are real sources of knowledge and make their knowledge available to everyone. I could have spend 10 years on Reddit, I wouldn't have learned the 1/10 of what I learned here.

There's also the local aspect: it's excellent to have Local Boards that can help cover current events and explain difficult concepts and ideas in their mother tongue. If Bitcointalk didn't exist I don't know where people would come to ask questions specific (for free I mean) about their country's legislation, taxation, legal changes etc...
