2123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think that there are Dark secrets in every Successful Business on: March 19, 2023, 04:02:13 PM
I agree that successful businesses have secrets, but not all the secrets are dark secrets like you are suggesting. There are trade secrets and strategies that businesses have discovered over the years from their experience in the trade, these trade secrets and strategies give them an edge over all other business in that line that maybe just started or have been operational since.

Yeah absolutely, I agree with you. Every company, every entrepreneur, just like every human has secrets, and has things specific to its functioning that it does not share with others.
However, not all secrets are darks secrets, and fortunately!

Why would we think that ? There are just some people who have invested well, others who are creative, exceptionally intelligent, or just plain lucky. Some just inherited a fortune and started a successful business. While many successful businesses must have things to hide, dark secrets, I don't think you can generalize that to a universal law.

What is true is that people and companies that don't worry a lot about laws and morals tend to grow faster and perhaps miss fewer opportunities than others. But this does not negate the success of all the others who have remained honest
2124  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any problems with *CHIPMIXER* coins? on: March 19, 2023, 02:46:48 PM
He can simple make a few hops, about 5 transactions is enough

Let's suppose this is his situation:

ChipAddresz > Address1

He just need to make soemthing like this, inside his own wallet.

ChipAdd > Add1 > Add2 > add3 > add4 > add5 > exchange

as he is transfering to himself, he can use 1 sat/vbyte in those transactions. he can also split the values.

this is make those coins look to be far from the mixer and the exchange wont notice them (most likely)

Yeah or even simpler, he could just exchange his BTCs to XMR and after that, swap from XMR to BTC again. Monero will protect his identity.
It could be done via P2P, like on Bisq or any other platform providing P2P services.

Your friend could also imagine to cash out his BTC from an ATM, and buy again BTC with this cash from an other ATM.
In this second scenario the fees would be more important.

Are there any complaints about closing KYCed accounts, tax reports or problems that resulted from depositing ChipMixer mixed coins? Specifically after ChipMixer.com has been seized.

Most of the regulated CEX (even each one I guess) would mark your account in a SAR form once they have access of the Chipmixer's addresses. Most of them probably already own a list, we could imagine that Chainanalysis for example is proactively working on it, if it is not already done of course.
Depending on your past activity on the CEX, the amounts and the frenquency of your exchanges, you could be blocked, asked for Source of funds documents, and for more explanations. In some cases funds could be seized, it already happened in the past
2125  Local / Actualité et News / Rapport sur les cybercrimes liés aux cryptos en 2022 on: March 19, 2023, 01:25:30 PM
Je partage ce document pour ceux que ça peut intéresser. Le document se nomme "Crypto Crime Report 2022 : Original data and research into cryptocurrency-based crime".

2126  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to Start Blockchain Development? on: March 19, 2023, 12:46:54 PM
However, in blockchain development, I do not know how to start "technically". Yes, I can develop my own blockchain but probably it will not be similar to Bitcoin so I want to imitate Satoshi's mindset as much as I can, so I want to learn how Bitcoin work technically, not theoretically.

However, I wonder about your ideas about what should I focus on, first. How can I learn blockchain development the best? The time is valuable. Smiley

You could have a look on the pre-release version of BitcoinCore
You can find the pre-release, v0.1.0, and v0.1.3 here, on the Satoshi Institute website : https://satoshi.nakamotoinstitute.org/code/
It can give you a nice start and a source of inspiration.

However, I see that you quoted Mastering Bitcoin book. This one will be more than useful for your project I think. But maybe just like an additionnal layer of help when it is required.

If you aren't against the idea to pay for some ressources, as you already mentionned, you have plenty Udemy courses which are explaining how to start a Bitcoin-like/based blockchain from scratch. The issue with Udemy course is to find one which is not too superficial and newbie-friendly, A lot of them are only focusing on super basic things, and doesn't help a lot to increase your understanding of BTC once you already own some good knowledges.

Finally, this book will give you the best starting point possible in my opinion : Programming Bitcoin- Learn how to Program Bitcoin from Scratch : https://books.google.bg/books/about/Programming_Bitcoin.html?id=OIuGtgEACAAJ&redir_esc=y

(And maybe, you could use ChatGPT for that purpose, but I don't really know, I haven't tested it yet)

Have a nice journey with Bitcoin programming !
2127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How my lack of knowledge has blinded me so far on: March 19, 2023, 11:39:33 AM
Of course verification is necessary at some point, as Source of Funds verification (depending of the amounts of course) or KYC.

All users of casinos and sports bets  want the platform they use to be honest and rigorous with their payouts and withdrawals, right?

For me, the only real way to be able to feel confident with an online casino is through the regulations it has adhered to. This guarantees security for the end user, because if the casino in question is regulated and respects the law, the chances that it will provide an honest and reliable service will be even greater.

If an online casino is not regulated or not monitored by a third party, the risk of exit scams, frozen-accounts and frozen-funds is higher. You can't have everything without paying a certain price for it ; regulations offer security to the user but cost him some of his online privacy and personnal datas.
It's a choice to make, but the choice to send your funds to a shady platform is rarely to the advantage of the end user in the long run.
2128  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Need help for cooling a closed room on: March 19, 2023, 11:30:35 AM
Difficult question, because I think you have already tried everything that is really feasible in your situation. In any case, when there are large amounts of energy used, there will be a lot of heat in the room if it is closed.

I think that indeed air conditioning the room could be the beginning of a solution, but it depends of the surface of your room. What is the floor area and total volume of the room in question? With this data, calculations could be made.

In my humble opinion, there are two solutions realistically available to you:

-Hydrocooling if you can, but I don't know if that would be feasible / cost effective with S17s and T17s. In theory everything is feasible but the financial aspect of this solution will probably lead to a financial loss for you
-Hosted mining, send your ASICs to someone who has better operating conditions than you have.

Apart from that, I don't think there is a miracle solution for this problem.
2129  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Which is more paying? on: March 19, 2023, 09:23:29 AM
The forum is not supposed to be a full time job, and should not be considered as such.
You have no contract, no job security, and depending on the country, it may not be able to pay your bills or provide for your basic needs.

However, the forum is a great way to increase your stock of satoshis through signature campaigns or bounties, while learning things and sharing what you already know.
These campaigns, in my opinion, are a win-win system: you advertise sites or companies that you think are clean and legit, and in exchange you get paid. In addition, managers require a certain quality of posting, and a certain minimum frequency of activity.
This is globally beneficial for the forum, it guarantees that at least a part of the regular active users post consistently, and with good quality posts.

But in my opinion, you will only reach the necessary rank by acting as a normal member of the forum, and settling in, making quality posts. If the only motivation of a member is to farm an account to access the campaigns, it shows, and in general this member will not reach the necessary rank to participate in the said campaigns.

In my country, the signing campaigns offer almost the equivalent of a local minimum wage. However, I prefer to keep my job (I'm lucky enough to earn much more than the legal minimum) and tell myself that I'll leave this second salary in BTC, for the future. If I had to rely solely on forum wages for my daily life, it could be stressful. And I remain convinced that doing it out of need, and not out of desire, would influence the quality of the posts. This would not be positive for me, nor for the campaing manager or nor for the forum itself.
2130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Oh boy, I've got wallet.dat on: March 19, 2023, 08:32:25 AM
Well, I did my best, I stopped trying a long time ago. It's basically just a file for me at this point. If people say they can crack it in half an hour, okay, no problem, but I'm not going to click any links or send anything up front.

I understand, but you have one of the most trusted and reputable member of this community who offer his help for free.
If you are ready to give up, why aren't you ready to be assisted / helped by a trusted person ?

Trying individual dates like this or asking relatives for any meaningful dates is utterly pointless. You will spend far longer doing this, with a far lower chance of success, than simply setting up btcrecover. Even if you want to expand the search range to every single day +/- 5000 years from today, then you can exhaust that space in half an hour for a single date format using btcrecover.

I've even offered to set up the tokens file or even try cracking it myself for free. If OP still just tries randomly guessing individual dates manually, then he's really got no one to blame but himself.
2131  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is OK to sell but is better to wait on: March 19, 2023, 08:19:06 AM
It depends on each of us, we all have different strategies, targets and sales thresholds. We also have different notions of risk, as well as different sensitivities to FUD and the negative buzz in the industry.

Some people choose to invest only what they can accept as a potential loss, and under these conditions it is always easier to hold on to the long term.
Others simply don't have the knowledge and understanding to have a sincere desire to hold their BTC, and the same goes for self-discipline, it depends, we are only human after all.

The important thing is that people are happy when they sell their BTC, that they do not sell it at a loss or with regrets. For example, selling BTC right now might make sense if you came home with purchases made at 15-16k, although in my opinion it would be better to wait.

We are 1 year away from the next halving, so we can speculate that next year and the year following the halving, the price will tend to be active in terms of movement. In my humble opinion, it is better to wait and see what happens after the halving, so as not to miss out on future profits. But no one, neither you nor I can claim to know what the FIAT value of BTC will be in the future, so in any case, no one selling their BTC should be judged negatively for doing so.
2132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when people tells their story on bitcoin on: March 19, 2023, 07:59:00 AM
For long now I have been reading lots of interesting testimonies around the forum about their experience and achievement they made through bitcoin progress. Something very important came into me to know how do you feels whenever someone said of their investment and how it yielded and they made fortune out of it.
Do you feels your late getting involved to the industry and do you wishes to be like them, and if you were in their shoes would you be able to utilize those opportunity they got or you won't afford to bear the risk and get involved?

I really enjoy reading stories like this, both here and elsewhere on the internet. I myself have shared a little bit of my history with Bitcoin, even if it is very modest when you compare it to others.

I find it necessary to counterbalance a bit the press and newspaper articles that allow themselves to write anything and everything about Bitcoin and Bitcoiners, without understanding anything. The good thing is that the stories here are written by Bitcoiners and not by journalists who don't know what a seed or pool is.

Whether it's positive or negative stories for their respective OPs, it's always good to have feedback on decisions, behaviors, and life choices: especially when those decisions or life choices are based on Bitcoin. I feel that for the past ten years we have all been acting as "crash tests" for future generations, well those who have decided to go all in on BTC. So it's always good to get their feedback.

The great success stories of some people can help to offset some of the big FUD that is regularly around BTC, and that can probably have a positive impact.

2133  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: WINTOMATO.com scam 4300 usdt on: March 19, 2023, 07:44:42 AM
I just went to check the thread on Casino Guru, the last two posts are still awaiting moderation and validation.

I hope OP can get his funds back, if it is indeed proven that he did not abuse the welcome bonus system.

From my point of view Wintomato has a rather vague way of communicating, extremely condescending with OP. And even if OP is a bonus abuser and they can prove it, in my opinion it's always better to keep your distance from such a casino manager, who takes days to respond, and once he deigns to respond is condescending.

We have so much choices and opportunities to play online with cryptos, I'll prefer safe and recognized websites. Too much suspicions and lack of reactivity from their team, even if they are not scamming OP in reality, I think we can find better places to gamble anyway.
2134  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Antpool not paying out to wallet on: March 19, 2023, 07:27:43 AM
and always been honnest with their miners, so you shouldn't worry.

I agree with the second part, but I'm afraid I have to disagree with the first part, Antpool aka Bitmain's pool has been nothing but honest, they claim to have a 0% PPLNS payment system, and to this point in time, most users still believe they are mining there for free, what Bitmain keeps 'intentionally' hiding from them is the fact that while the pool doesn't charge them mining fees on the block reward itself, they keep 100% of the transaction fees, that it could be anything from 0.1% to 10%.

So do I think Antpool will steal op's funds, probably not, but do I think Antpool is honest? hell no, no one should keep more than 1 day's worth of mining rewards or the minimum payout with any pool out there, I rather end up with a ton of small outputs and pay more fees than have a pool store my earnings.

I agree with you completely, at 100%. When I said that Antpool is "honest", I didn't express myself clearly enough. I meant only the payouts, meaning that yes, indeed they will pay OP if he has reached the minimum necessary.

However, as you say, their policy regarding fees (especially now!) is not clean. Also, personally I would tend to avoid a pool that holds 20% of the total hashrate of the network.
Like Foundry, Binance Pool, Antpool are in my opinion enemies of BTC. They mine empty blocks, and contribute to a strong centralization of the hashrate.
I prefer to mine on small pools, like at Kano, ckpool, or mmpool (before it makes an exit scam, unless the hacker was real? We'll never know). I understand that some people don't want to mine solo, or don't want to wait 1 or 2 years for a block to be solved in PPLNS to receive their funds, but in this case, IMO, they should consider secondary size pools like EMCD for example.

Thanks for the great story! Keep your BTC up to the next ATH!
Next bull run is ready . Perhaps congratulation

Yeah I will hold until next ATH, even if I won't sell all my sats, I want to keep some BTC for the (very) long term. Personally I think there is still time to accumulate more BTC until we'll see next ATH ; the next halving is in 1 year and previously it took several months / a year before it was reflected in its fiat price. But who knows ?  Smiley

Congratulations. I only bought a car.     Cool

Thank you !
Congrats to you too !  Smiley  I think that it is very good for yourself to buy something thanks of the increasing value of BTC, and good for the whole community, as it shows concrete examples of one of the interests of Bitcoin holding.

I just hope that the car you bought was not a 2003 Ford Taurus  Grin  Grin

Congratulations OP, you can be so proud of what you’ve achieved, at still a young ago too. Good or you, young man. I really do enjoy reading success stories on the forum about people really achieving goals through bitcoin.
Please continue to hang around the forum, it’s a much better place with people like yourself.

Thank you so much for this kind message ! I hope that my story, even if it is a modest success, could give inspiration and faith to continue the BTC journey to the newcomers !
I will definitely stay around here as long as I can, I really enjoy the community, and the ton of knowledge this forum contains. I learn a lot here, spend hours of reading and for now, I've never regret the time spent here Smiley
