1842  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: VPN Service Provider. BTC / USDT Accepted on: May 14, 2023, 08:34:55 PM
I disagree with you, the service being brand new don't give them the excuses to launch with unfinished service/details, no business that respects their users and their self would do that.
In the business world, first impression matters a lot, especially a VPN provider who you are going to trust with your data.

Yeap, but OP mentioned the fact the website is still WIP, it is his choice to broadcast and share it during this period of time, some users care, some doesn't. As long as the service I would pay for is working, I personnaly don't mind about the apparence of the website.

For example, the very first version of https://mullvad.net/ was looking like that :

Things can change, no ? Why OP shouldn't be allowed to share his website even if it's still WIP ?

Quote
Operating a VPN with good connection speed and the right infrastructure is very expensive, IMO, very low prices are a red flag.

Your joking right? Let be realistic here, there is no way this service is going to be an excellent alternative to Mullvad, Mullvad is light years ahead of them, let's just take Mullvad no-logging policy as an example, last month they got raided by the Swedish Police[1] and no user data was compromised because there was none found, this alone has put them ahead of all the VPNs who claim no data logging and no proff to show for it.

I am not OP and I don't care about his business plan. 2 or 5 usd per user could cover the costs, if he manages to attract enough users. And he doesn't give many options about the servers location, it could be realistic from a money point of view.
About the fact Mullvad is great and trustable, I never said anything against it. I am using sometimes their service, and I said in my previous message : "if you offer a really qualitative and durable service, and you don't do anything shady with your user's logs". So yeah, Mullvad is great, but if OP is providing a great service, the said service won't be not good because Mullvad exists. As I said, I am not OP and I don't personaly care about the future of his VPN to be honnest, but if the service is ok and if with time he gives proofs of good work, I don't see any reason to look at it with a negative point of view.

1845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important is it to keep your bitcoin investments secret from others ? on: May 14, 2023, 07:16:14 AM
Speaking generally about the idea of crypto currencies is fine, but don't tell strangers how many coins you have. It the same with Fiat money, you should never tell strangers on the streets how much money you have in your wallet or bank account. The same goes for the internet, some form of privacy should always be maintained as we can't trust strangers.

Yeah I agree but at the same time, just mentioning cryptos and Bitcoin during casual IRL conversations can potentially get you into trouble.

Online, everything is more or less manageable, you can even give some personal information without being identifiable. You just have to select the information you reveal, remove the EXIFs and metadatas from the photos you publish, and have a minimum of protection for your IP. I'm not talking about social networks which I think are only tools to autodoxx.

To come back to my first sentence, I think you have to be careful, if you say to randoms "I have Bitcoin", even without specifying the amounts, many ignorant people will imagine that you are "rich". For many idiots and uneducated people, Bitcoin = wealth. Even if you only have a few satoshis.
That's why I never respond to IRL conversations about cryptos and Bitcoin, I don't even mention it. You don't know who you might run into. They can either come after you, or indirectly get you in tax trouble for example.
1846  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: VPN Service Provider. BTC / USDT Accepted on: May 14, 2023, 06:09:23 AM
Yeah indeed, the site still needs to be polished, a lot of pages are not finished, but it's quite understandable as it's brand new.

However, why not offer your services to Linux and MacOS users? Why only Windows and Android?
I am motivated by the idea of testing your services and even doing a small review, but I am less motivated if I have to go through Wine to install your client.

But if you give me something to use via OpenVPN after payment I'm ok, no problem, but I didn't find any information about it on your website.

In any case the price is very attractive, if you offer a really qualitative and durable service, and you don't do anything shady with your user's logs, you could be an excellent alternative to Mullvad in my opinion.

I hope to have your feedback OP, and I wish you a great continuation with your service!
1847  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Free power access. Mining opinions wanted, thanks in advance for guidance on: May 14, 2023, 05:56:46 AM
you want an antminer l3+

you can set it to do 600 watts 24/7/365

so 24 x .6 = 15 kwatts a day

or 450 kwatts a month.

it will earn 1 dollar a day or 30 a month

point to nicehash it will send you btc.

it is fairly quiet and suits your needs close to perfectly.

You can get it for about 200 with a quiet psu shipped to hawaii.

note you possibly could get an antminer s15 and run it on low speed

but it will pull 900 watts and about 700 kwatts a month

it will earn about 2 dollars a day. you must use  240 volts.  i think it costs about 400.

if you want more info about these older units shoot me a pm.

note the antminer L3+ uses 120 volts it is okay

the s15 use 240 volts it may be better.

Or why not a S19 with only 1 hashboard  connected? It doesn't cost a lot of money to buy a broken S19 online, and could give a good ratio BTC/kwh. But I totally agree with the L3+ or S15 idea.

Do you have any reseller having good (hashing) S15s ? I am looking for some since a moment and my sellers doesn't own any in stock.
1848  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [General] How to earn Bitcoins on: May 14, 2023, 05:44:18 AM
For me I have not understand how to earn the Bitcoin and I am so eager to know it please is there any where someone can be trained about Bitcoin and all it categories?

I think the answer to your question is simply BitcoinTalk.
There is plenty to learn about Bitcoin and everything related to it here. You also have the Bitcoin Wiki, but it's not always up to date (and the fact that it's a Wiki that can't be edited by anyone makes it a bit sad in my humble opinion)

There are books available everywhere on the subject, for example Mastering Bitcoin is great if you have a basic understanding of computer development and is available for free on Github.

Less technical but just as instructive on the basics of BTC and money in general, The Bitcoin Standard is an excellent reference.
It is available as an epub for free on the internet, but you can also buy it in paper/pdf format if you wish.

In any case I can only encourage you to lurk here and continue your learning process. You'll see, you'll never run out of resources, there are plenty of them.

1851  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's nice to be back here. on: May 13, 2023, 07:39:20 PM
I stopped my crypto journey way back last year because of so many losses and got busy with my school works,  it was last year in February when I lost a huge amount of my money investing in altcoin and got rugged, I was depressed that time and sad because I lost a huge amount of money which makes me stop my crypto journey and just focus on my study.

Two weeks ago I saw my friend on Facebook posting such luxury and cars he already has and I know that person is into cryptocurrency so I know that he got all those things because of cryptocurrency that inspires me now to continue my crypto journey and I will start it with this forum as I know I can have a lot of lessons and advice here.

I just realized how risky cryptocurrency is, especially for those people who have not yet have good knowledge about it, I've learned from my mistakes last year and j am now here exploring again and will be careful this time.

Yes, knowledge and understanding of BTC and cryptos in general should be present before the act of buying.
Or at the very least alongside a DCA strategy with small amounts by the time you're sure what you're doing.

It's pretty simple, who would buy stocks of companies they don't know, without understanding of what they are doing, and with no background?
Nobody.

So why do something like this with BTC or other cryptos? It doesn't make sense no ?

I'm sorry to read that you've already lost money in the past OP, but I sincerely hope that this experience made you realize that quick gains are not automatic, and most importantly, that education and patience are essential to make profits with Bitcoin.

I wish you success in your future investments, and if I have only one piece of advice to give: take the time to educate yourself about Bitcoin before you put any money into it, understand every real risk involved in owning BTC, and be patient, don't rush. Bitcoin is not going to disappear tomorrow (at least I hope not!), and those who have studied it well, in general, come to the conclusion that rushing is not useful: you won't be able to go back in time and buy BTC at 10 usd anyway. Take your time.
1852  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 - Fully functional yet no hash-rate on: May 13, 2023, 07:19:22 PM
Yeah absolutely, OP could you try with solo.ckpool and tell us if the problem persists?

From the image you shared, the 3 hashboards are well detected, all your chips look ok (only o's and no x's under ASIC status), both of fans are running.

It seems that you have a problem with your pool.

1853  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Marathon and Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth fund - Big Move on: May 13, 2023, 07:04:24 PM
Thank you for sharing this information with us.

Quote
The new project will first develop two mining sites with a combined capacity of 250 megawatts (MW) of mining power, according to a press release. The sites will be powered by excess energy in Abu Dhabi, increasing the base load and sustainability of that Middle Eastern capital's power grid, the statement continued. The necessary mining equipment and infrastructure for each site has already been ordered and construction is currently underway.

It's always interesting to see places using their excess electricity to power BTC mining.

Especially given the current context, US laws and the rising price of kw/h in many places, we need more mining-friendly places to emerge.

I imagine that if things get too complicated in the US, the hashrate will mostly redirect to Russia or Kazakhstan. I'm curious to see what other places I don't imagine now will host this hashrate.

In the case of Abu Dhabi, I think I see that they have already ordered their ASICs, so it's not about hosting potential US ASICs. So I'm now waiting to see what real hashrate is going to come out of this infrastructure and to see what is the future there for the Bitcoin miners.
1854  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Usage of a Bitcoin Asic on: May 13, 2023, 06:47:46 PM
Many thread is covered that question but I don't know where are these threads already.

I have a simple question: Is there other usage for Bitcoin ASIC?
Bitcoin ASICs are specifically designed for only one purpose and that is mining Bitcoin. They are specialized, and their design is optimized for the SHA-256 hashing algorithm that used by bitcoin.

if I want to use it for generate random numbers, and then perform SHA256, would it be possibile to do it?
I think it is possible to use a Bitcoin ASIC for other purposes, like generating random numbers and performing SHA256, it is not efficient or practical use of the devices. ASIC is only designed for mining Bitcoin, and it would not be an effective solution for other application. While It is technically possible to repurpose a Bitcoin ASIC for other uses, it is not recommended due to specialized nature of the device.

Nope, you will never be able to do anything else but mine sha256 coins with an ASIC that is designed to mine sha256.

An ASIC is a server that you can never take out of its basic use, no other known applications for now.
Ultimately, you can reuse the heat produced by your ASIC to heat yourself, or for your water heater, but that's not the point you are interested in I think.

If you want more details, I can recommand you to check the Bitcoin Wiki's page dedicated to ASICs :

Quote
Note that Bitcoin ASIC chips generally can only be used for Bitcoin mining. While there are rare exceptions - for example chips that mine both Bitcoin and scrypt - this is often because the chip package effectively has two ASICs: one for Bitcoin and one for scrypt.

Now, seeing your topic, I remember I already read it back then Smiley And congrats for this achievement too! However, each time I see your name I either think (for 1-2 seconds) that this guy wants to buy his second house with BTC (as Halab said, lol) -- or he wants to buy his house with BTC too -- like you know someone which did it and you want to do it too Smiley

I, on my side, can say that I bought in part my house with BTC and I also helped mom to buy her, also in part, with BTC. Hopefully, when I'll buy a 20 bedrooms villa I'll be able to pay it with BTC in full =)))

@GazetaBitcoin , thank you for the kind words !

You fully deserve them! Keep up the good work, young padawan! And may you payyourhousewithbtc3 as well  Cheesy

Thank you dear neighbour (if I remember well you are from Romania right ?) ! Smiley Also, congrats for your and your mother's house ! Super nice to know that you were able to buy them partially thanks to Bitcoin !

Haha, wish you a 20 bedrooms villa for the next ATH  Grin

In any case, since you already bought your house with BTC, now you can change your name, right? =))) And about the 50 BTC -- maybe if you ask theymos nicely (and explain him properly that you already bought your house with BTC, therefore your username is not needed anymore Grin Grin Grin) maybe he will agree to change it for free

Yeah absolutely, I will give it a try ! I think that theymos won't answer as I can imagine he is very busy, but who knows !
I have first to find a new username in case he accepts to take some time to do it  Grin

It is spamming or it was spamming? I supposedly already fixed this days ago. Huh

Sorry for late answer ! I had to wait until the fees decreased a little bit before being able to confirm it.

My bad, I did some tests with 3 transactions and I confirm it is 100% fixed !

Thank you dear!

iwantmyhomepaidwithbtc2 (his name always intrigued me; especially the "2" from the end )

He simply wants to buy a 2nd house with BTC Smiley.

We wondered about this in the french section and he just lost access to his first account (he has since obviously recovered it at the beginning of the year). There is no story of ban evasion (I checked Smiley) or anything shady, he is a very good user involved in mining and in crypto in general.

(I hope that one day he will want to change his pseudo for something easier to write (I'm ready to harass Theymos or Cyrus for that Smiley))

Hahaha I would love to change my username but I wouldn't pay 50 BTC for it  Grin Grin

@GazetaBitcoin , thank you for the kind words ! Yeah as Halab already wrote, iwantmyhomepaidwithbtc was my first account, I lost it some years ago, but recovered it earlier in 2023. However, I am using only my "new" account now, the first one is useless.
If you have some time to waste, I've explained here in details the reason of why I chose this (too long) username Smiley

iwantmyhomepaidwithbtc2 (his name always intrigued me; especially the "2" from the end )
I did not recognize that username, and before I searched for his profile I made an assumption that the account was probably created in 2017 or so when bitcoin was taking off like a bottle rocket and there was at least one thread going about buying houses/real estate with BTC.  I was mistaken, as he hasn't been here nearly that long (which makes the ranking up to Sr. Member all the more impressive).

Yeap I registered my account 2 years ago here but I am active on the forum on a daily basis as a poster only since last December. I was lurking here for years but I didn't felt legit to share my opinion with you before. I am happy that I was able to rank up from almost zero to Sr. Member in 4 months ! I am happy that some of you are interested by some of my posts, it means a lot for me.

Wish you all a great day or evening Smiley
