It looks like we're in for a few weeks of stagnation.

We have been in a flat triangle since June 1st.  The trend was strongly bullish as we entered.  I expect us to leave this triangle within the next 6 hours or so.  We should break out to the upside and head up to at least the 750 area before taking a break or continuing up.

Bedtime for me, now.

I just bought 10BTC, and maybe I will buy another 10 in the morning... or maybe later in the day... depending upon how I feel... At this point, I would rather see down, rather than up, but my 10BTC hedges in the event that prices go up while I am sleeping.

Each time I send some fiat to my favorite exchange, I can't wait more than 2 days before converting it to bitcoin. Always afraid of price skyrocketing before I buy. It seems I am not the only one.

I found a solution, if the trend is bearish, I make a trailing order.

So far, I have been buying through Coinbase, which seems to be the cheapest solution for me to obtain BTC.  So far, Coinbase does NOT allow the creation of orders, otherwise I would create orders in order that I do NOT need to watch the price so much in attempt to time my buys.

I buy on kraken, fees are 0,20% and withdraw is 0,0005btc. This is cheap. But I am in eurozone and they have volume, not sure USD volume is sufficient to make good buys.

From your description, those fees seem better than what Coinbase has been providing.  Coinbase is 1% to buy BTC and 1% to sell.  Plus $.15 per transaction.

Coinbase's prices are also usually within a few dollars of the Bitstamp price, and frequently, it seems impossible to take advantage, exactly, of the most extreme BTC price fluctuations of Bitstamp b/c of the seemingly delayed responsiveness of Coinbase's pricing.

I am looking forward to receiving an invitation from Circle.com, and to see how that plays out.  Since they are proclaiming to have zero transactional fees, it will be interesting to see what kinds of restrictions that they are going to put in place in order to disincentivize China-type high volume and frequent trading.

Like coinbase circle will not act as an exchange.  They are looking to market to newbies and I'm sure they will have ways of limiting the speculation you are speculating about.  I received an email from circle a couple of days ago as follow...........................

Here's a quick update on your request for an invite to join Circle. We're still in an early access stage of our launch, and there are a limited number of invitations available while we test features and make optimizations. We're increasing the number of invites every week and hope to get you yours as soon as possible.

IMO we are at a point where we have a lot of high net worth, major corps, and invesent funds investing in Bitcoin. The days of huge swings, massive outbreaks, and downward spirals are over. I think we will see peaks and valleys in the range of 2-3% possibly at a faster pace than traditional stocks rise and fall but like I said to many major players now have too much to lose not to control the price. Not only that but if more retailers are to enter the "accepting" bitcoin game then the price has to show signs of long term stability and I think that's what we are seeing here. Long term investment growth, price stability for retailers to enter bitcoin, wider acceptance by the general public who don't have the knowledge or skills to enter a highly volatile market.

That's just my guess, he'll we could be at $1,000 on Monday. Who the hell knows.

A lot of high net worth, major corps and investment funds are investing into a 8 Billion capsize, very little of which is for sale ?

Such entities investing in bitcoin in a conservative manner would bring the price at least 100 times higher.
Such entities investing in bitcoin aggressively would bring the price about 1000 times higher.

These entities still have not touched bitcoin with a pole stick.

I think you're absolutely wrong. Many high net worth individuals have come out to say they own bitcoin. We also have funds like second market, and more in the works. These people do not nor would they buy bitcoins on any of the exchanges that exist today. They would again IMO go to the major holders of today's Bitcoin and secure OTC purchases. They might even go to the major mining pools and buy direct. It wouldn't surprise me if a mining pool has already secured contracts to sell so many bitcoins at a set price over a period of mining to some key players. Everyone has an eye and a toe dipped into bitcoin, it's to risky not to, and when the time is right we will see what they want to do with it. One thing I can promise is you and I have no control, all we can do is sit back and enjoy whatever ride we are on.

Who is this everyone?

As far as OTC transactions, If these people are selling OTC they aren't selling on exchanges.  How does that effect exchange prices?

The trouble for gold is that Austrian / Libertarian or "real money" capital could very easily flee en mass to Bitcoin. In addition there is the indication that gold is due for a big correction, without even considering Bitcoin. If one takes a look at the inflation adjusted price of gold over the last 100 years http://inflationdata.com/Inflation/images/charts/Gold/Gold_inflation_chart.htm one sees a double top developing. If one puts all of this together one has the perfect storm for a brutal bear market in precious metals.

Official inflation numbers are problematic because the indexes are constantly re-adjusted. If you use the official indexes of 1980 or 1990, you see inflation is much larger (applying these indexes in 2014). If you want to lower inflation these days, all you have to do is increase the percentage of technological products and services in the index and say "see? the prices are going down because you can get a mobile phone for less, a better laptop for less, a telecommunications contract for less etc etc".

Growth = increase in GDP minus inflation. So it "pays" when you under-report and hide* your inflation, as you can show a larger "real" increase in GDP. Additionally no-one complains because if you give people 3% interest and they have 5% low inflation, they'll rise up and go to PMs.

So instead of trying to convince people that they are "gaining" money by leaving their money at the bank, they undereport the inflation to make it "obvious" that people will "gain". Inflation 2% (instead of 5% actual), interest 3%, so 1% "profit" instead of 2% loss. Much easier to sell it in this way.

The larger the inflation, the more visible this under-reporting is. In some countries inflation is running at 20-25% and the government is reporting like half of it. That's visible and people complain because they can see that their money are running out FAST. 3-5-7% isn't so much and people at this level are under the influence of the Al Gore frog analogy... the frog is boiling at a rate too slow to notice. By the time the frog "gets it" (after a decade of depreciated bank deposits) it'll be too late because the interest doesn't cover the losses. So it has to be some other asset that protects people from inflation. Whether gold, silver, BTC etc etc - things that either inflate to a lower degree than fiat, or that have an increase in demand which is larger than their inflation.

* There are things you can hide, and things you can't... In US coinage, right now, pre1982 copper pennies cost more than 2cents in copper value compared to the 1cent face value.

Nickels (5c coins) are also very marginal as the metal costs 99% of the coin's face value. As it crosses over 100-110-120%, hoarding of nickels for melting, or as a way to counter inflation, will start to occur.

In Europe it's extremely "fascinating" that our 1c, 2c and 5c coins have a copper look, but in fact are made of dirt-cheap iron with a copper plating. You can't make this stuff up... copper is used for plating! They want to give people the impression of "value" and that nothing changed relative to the past (abundance of copper coins for small denominations in most european countries) because if people saw the iron they would immediately understand these are "cheap" coins... But they can't afford to go copper. The money's face value cannot afford to buy the metal it's minted on.

A few years ago a law was passed in the US making it illegal to melt down pennies and nickles.  There is also a law against taking more than $5 worth of pennies out of the US.  People still hoard copper pennies on the hope that the US will do away with pennies and they will be able to melt them.

Can anything be done about all the empty tables in the lobby?  Looking at PLO there are currently 7 empty tables at 50 PLO, 4 at 100 PLO and 8 at 200 PLO, this is for 6max and there are 9 handed empty tables as well.

To whom it may concern

open client and go to >Hold'em >No Limit > Micro there you will see so many tables and all with zero players. how can we get rid of those tables. to much scrolling for nothing.

hey guys / sorry about that but ST6 is testing some stuff and needs to leave 'em up for a bit longer for testing

IMO sort by players at tables.

The lobby is still a mess.  If you can please define a bit longer.

Anybody get a circle.com invite yet?

From my understanding, you have to go to their website to request an invite, and I made such an invitation request about a week ago.

However, I have received No invite from them, so far.

I would also be curious whether anyone has used their service(s) to purchase and/or sell bitcoin, yet.

I requested and no invite.  Several days ago there was a blog post on their site answering questions and it seems the #1 question was, where is my invite? The following is part of their answer.

We are not in general release whatsoever.

Making this worse from a Bitcoin pro’s perspective: The product is designed for casual consumers, so the initial invites have gone to those sorts of profiles rather than those who already breathe ECDSA crypto and the like. We’ll certainly expand, as we need the harsh feedback of the pro Bitcoiners just as well, but we will not expand quickly enough to please everyone.

Profiles?  My "profile" consisted of my name and email address.  The answer seems to be that we are still in the hype phase and that their answer is bullshit.

Thanks.  Their answer seems a bit strange to be attempting to expand into a certain kind of user based on their invitation request.  Probably, they fear that  people will over use their site if they expand very quickly at all - b/c zero fees will create a trading incentive (like what goes on in china).  Zero fees seems to good to be true.

I agree that zero fees seems too good to be true.  One thing I noticed in their demo youtube is that when making a deposit it lists both a circle fee and a bank fee, but they are both set to FREE.  This might indicate that the coding to handle fees is already there, so they can easily add the fees in the future.

Circle told me that I am approved for an invite and that they will be contacting me shortly.  I'll let you know when it happens.

How does it feel being a casual consumer?

I never send 0.01 BTC without twice checking if there was some error in the copy and paste process Cheesy

And then I write the address on paper and check again.  I guess that makes a "cold" list of all transactions.

Why would Yuan collapse? It's as good as ever.

Huge banking sector bubble similar to japan in the late 80's

The whole world is in bubble and no one knows when and if things will collapse. Many well-known people (banking, hedge funds) are saying China will collapse, USA will collapse, Japan will collapse, EU will collapse, stock market will collapse, etc., but so far they are 100% wrong for many years since financial crisis and people listening to them are losing money not participating in the markets!

Some are even saying BTC has no future and is doomed to fail, but 100x gain in one year shows you how no one has a clue what's going on. I am just saying markets are irrational and things can go on like this for years and years.

Huobi is currently $10 higher than that of stamp. Will China take lead for this rally again? If so, why China always takes lead?

Irration does not explain this. There must be something else behind.

Capital controls actually make bitcoin more attractive to wealthy chinese than to wealthy people living in free capital countries. People in free capital countries know they can enjoy their money wherever they go in the world. People in China not. What is better for them than to hold some of their wealth in BTC ?

We have a winner!

I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone that the future is not written in stone and we are not all destined to be the super mega wealthy elite for doing nothing.

I think what people here are trying to say is that yes the future isn't written in stone, it is written in btc.

Hello,

I just read about the players colluding and the same 6 people ending up as winners.
I think and this is just an opinion and i am not sure about this so admin please correct me if i am wrong that Betcoin knows about what these players are upto and cannot stop them due to some other restrictions that i cannot disclose over here. They are not colluding, just not playing against each other because they belong to the same group.
If there are any more questions you can contact me via PM and i can explain whats going on.
Also admin if you want to get more legitimate players as well as increase your traffic you can contact me for details and ways on how to do that but please dont let your real players get scammed as its bad for the game, specially bad for Bitcoin Poker.

Regards

Duke

Also please do let me know about the Rollback Requirements of your deposit bouns.
Thankyou

We can ban all players and all IP addresses very easily.  Also our anti-collusion alerts let us know when there is even the slightest bit of collusion or fraud.  We are in the process of setting up a great schedule and testing a variety of things.  Just because you see them playing those tournaments doesn't mean they have the ability to cash out or offer other options.  Additionally, 50 credit tournaments are nothing to us for the test even if they were able to cash out.  Our main concern is protecting our valued players and these players have all actually played in ring games that have worked well.  Additionally, allowing us to test several functions before banning them and understanding these type of players is also important.  They are not scamming us, however only making the website stronger in the long run and we have full control over it.  All the suspect players have been banned to various levels at this point.

We do thank everyone for there feedback and input and will continue to work very hard to make this an exceptional poker destination.

The bolded is why I said that you seem to have a different definition of banned.  If they are playing and can't cashout they can still take chips from other players.  If they are playing they are not banned.  What am I misunderstanding?

I've seen the future. The price will bounce around 500-700 for the next couple of weeks and then a positive Bit-License thing from Lawsky will be the rocket fuel to make Bitcoin go batshit insane again. Mark my words, $2000 by July  Cool

When are the regs supposed to be ready?
