My pick : Phoenix -12.

Congrats on the win. Phoenix beat the Pistons with a score of 135-108 with a dominant performance every quarter.  The spread is high but the win was easy, Booker had a huge 30 points game and the rest are supporting him as always. I could have followed that bet if I trust them to cover the high spread.
2322  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 16, 2022, 09:40:30 PM
If the PBA wants to grow, they can increase the number of teams so more players with potential will have a chance to play. Some players in the B-League did not play in the PBA before they get to that league, some names are Thirdy Ravena, Kobe Paras and Dwight Ramos. So B-Leauge does not only focus their selection from the PBA, but in the entire basketball league in the Philippines.

Speaking of Dwight Ramos, seems he has built a name on his own in Japan and the way i looked at it, he is now a superstar plus the fact that his looks is not far from a Japanese actor, seems to me that we have to wait for a long time before we can see him play in the PBA. This no-nonsense kid is earning a lot so i think an offer of contract extension is likely to happen.

I just don't know why the PBA is having a hard time expanding. There are many companies years ago who have offered to enter the PBA but that didn't materialized maybe because of conflict of business interest.

When Phoenix tried to enter PBA for the first time, it was blocked by Petron. Chooks-to-go has sent an intent to join PBA but one team suddenly changed its name to Magnolia Hotshot "Ang Pambansang Manok" lol.

When you say conflict of business interest you are referring to that the PBA is like an entity of SMB or Pangilinan business. Actually, they should be independent but it's too obvious that they are controlled by this big company, so no chance that other big companies will be able to enter and have their own team as it's all business for these two big business tycoons.

Actually, there's a good advantage to that since without SMC, the league won't be last long. SMC is a good foundation that backing up the league. They also played a big role why PBA able to sustain their operation even with pandemic.

What I dislike is, these companies control the trade. Instead of talents are being distributed and spread to the teams, they are owning the talented players from these lower teams.

That's the only complaint I will raised regarding big companies.

There's an advantage too but it's only in the tough times, I guess even if SMC did not own the majority of the teams the league will still survive if the team owners are capable of raising funds to continue its operation. What I'm trying to say is if the NBA were able to continue despite the pandemic, then that kind of setup would definitely work in the Philippines.

Manipulation and monopoly have already root in the system, it won't change unless they are willing to make changes for good.
2323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Butler ordered by WBO on: January 16, 2022, 09:11:11 PM
I just don't know what's in the mind of Casimero as he is now focusing on his youtube vlog instead of his career. I hope that this is just for fun to him to be able to enjoy while there's no word yet from Probellum.

Casimero, i think needs to have a PR manager to represent him and screen out the words that needs to be released to the press, not raw where there are some misunderstandings that causes chaos and could damage his boxing career.
Is he focused in vlogging right now? Maybe he can manage his time well and he's got schedules to follow. There's no actual schedule yet for his match, right?
And as well as he's still in recovery that's why he's just doing what he can do. On his case, since vlogging doesn't really require physical contact, he's good to do it at any time that he wishes.

He can do some youtube videos like that will not distract his training or recovery, he has been doing that before so I think there's no problem with that. I think it's one way of reaching his fans to gain more support, so it's helpful to his career as a boxer. Though he is a trash-talking champion he still has plenty of followers and being a vlogger, he was able to give an update about himself.
2324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Thurman vs Barrios - Feb 5 on: January 16, 2022, 08:43:08 PM
I think it's part of his stunt with his match against Pacman and it did really help them to take as much attention as they did. The tickets were sold and it's probably one of the highest paychecks that he took.
It's possible that he's trying to get in shape first before proceeding with those words that will take the attention of everyone especially the fans of Barrios. That's really going to make a noise again if he does.

Well, we shouldn't be surprised if this fight will be hype soon, we know that Thurman is a good marketing guy, trash talking is not new to him but at the end of the fight, he always does the most important thing which is the sportsmanship which other boxers doesn't have.  Since the odds are out already, I can tell that this is going to be a popular fight.
Yeah, he's also a good salesman, and for sure that we might see some of those stunts just like he did way back then. Those words with trash talk he does are going to flame a lot of fans.
And for sure the sales for the tickets/PPV will be boosted by him. If that's what he has to do then for sure that he's going to do it no matter what the people will tell about him. Thus, he really needs to do that because there's the threat of the virus and people should just go avail the PPV that's going to be available for their match.
If they will fight in the same venue, I think people are still allowed to go as long as they are already vaccinated. The implementation in the US is different compared to other countries despite they have a high number of virus infections, so I think both gate entrance and the PPV will boost if Thurman will start talking now.
2325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin total supply is not 21M on: January 16, 2022, 03:27:56 PM
Total supply is probably below 21M, but it doesn't matter though, what matters now are those coins that are in circulation which is far lower than the total supply, and that will make bitcoin more valuable in the long run since demand will increase while the supply is only limited.

For me, the technical explanation on the total supply is not a big deal, the big deal here is the potential of bitcoin in the future and how its supply will affect that.
2326  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 2022 bear market? on: January 16, 2022, 02:45:20 PM
As we have seen the bull market of 2021, history has shown there to be a following of a bear market in the next year (2022). What are your thoughts so far and how do you believe it will play out.

I think the bear market is still just starting, btc should now be around 16-22k on average price until 2025.

Your thoughts?

Yes, it was a bull market in 2021, and bull market will not stay forever. Based on history, the bear market stays longer than the bull market so I think if 2022 is for the correction period, then we will likely see a bear market where the market will definitely struggle.

Hold on to the assets you trust, and learn to accumulate if indeed we will experience a bear market.

2328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Thurman vs Barrios - Feb 5 on: January 16, 2022, 12:45:00 PM
And he will do everything to win again. It's an exemption fighting Pacman, now that the legend is out and earns the best experience in his career already, it's time for him to come back and start dominating again, giving the top-ranking welterweights a real challenge.
Well, all of the boxers will do everything to win most of their matches. For sure that Thurman is going to be well prepared on this but I'm missing the part that he's hyping his match just like what he did with his match against Pacman. He should do that and throw some interesting words against Barrios for them to get the interest of the crowd. I guess he has to do it so that the same attention will be given to him on this match.

Maybe he doesn't want to at this point because he has learnt his hard lessons from the Pacman fight.

Or maybe he is focusing first on the fight, trying to get into shape before making any predictions or trash talking in public. Barrios too has some interviews but he didn't have any bad mouth to say at Thurman at this point. So both of them are playing safe, nevertheless as the fight gets closer some interesting words might be thrown by either of the side to bring more spice in this fight.
I think it's part of his stunt with his match against Pacman and it did really help them to take as much attention as they did. The tickets were sold and it's probably one of the highest paychecks that he took.

2329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 16, 2022, 12:05:24 PM
What I find amazing from Jrue's game is his defense, he never failed to be included in the all-defensive first or second teams almost every season, VanVleet was a problem outside but Siakam was a beast, they needed that exterior defense pretty much, and George Hill is not known for his defense, they also needed Khris Middleton's production points, sadly, he was underperforming and in result, they lost to the Raptors, it was a different energy when they faced the Warriors  vs. how they faced the Raptors.
The inconsistency of Khris Middleton showed up once again. Obviously he have to perform better when Jrue is not around. Why do they even let Giannis make the plays and not him or another guard so that he could set up their position in post up which the two stars of the Bucks are good at.
The big difference is points in the paint. Raptors made 44 while the Bucks only made 24 which is quite surprising for a known team that always scores on inside maneuvers. All I could say is they badly needed Jrue back or give up that Giannis making the plays and use another point to do the job.
They are only dominant inside if they have Brook Lopez, without him that dominant is not consistent. Jrue is a big piece for the Bucks especially on the defensive side and on making plays as well. I was also thinking that the Bucks could win, but disappointed with the result as they lose at home after beating the Warriors.
2330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Thurman vs Barrios - Feb 5 on: January 15, 2022, 09:32:04 PM

Well, he didn't make an excuse and that's good for him as being undefeated who had his first loss, he will certainly learn a lot from that fight, and going forward he will continue to improve. I'm expecting a better Thurman in his coming fight, a more matured fighter that could easily beat his opponent. I believe after this fight we will see some speculation on a possible fight for him against Spence or Crawford if both will win on their respective fights.

If he wins this one, he will possibly line to call for another title fight. He's still young, and he still fits inside this division, just need to
win this upcoming fight and make his name to hype back, that last loss is a privilege. He fought against a legend and for sure, he
learned from that fight.

We will see what preparation he did before this fight, if he still that same form and the same stamina from that last time we saw him
inside the ring.

That's enough for him to win against Barrios as he was able to survive against Pacman who is faster and a heavy puncher too. Barriors is not on the same level as Pacman, Spence, and Crawford, so he should take care of him easily and beat to improve his ranking again. I used to see Thurman in the top 5, I'm sure I will see him again at that ranking soon.
2331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting or casino? on: January 15, 2022, 09:15:29 PM
Most of us probably would choose sports betting over casino games. That's given since sports betting gives a decent chance of winning compared to casino games unless you are playing a skilled base like poker. Moreover, with sports betting, you'll not only enjoy watching the sports you love but you can also be entertained more as you are putting your bet on a certain game, the excitement is really different if you bet and watch the sports at the same time, that's for me.

If you trust him then most likely you'll end up getting bankrupt while he gets richer. Naming it after dogecoin doesn't change the fact that doge will not gain much adoption compared to other coins which have a good utility and development on the project as a whole, doge is more on hype, not much of a real development from the team, well, that's what meme coins are.
2334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Butler ordered by WBO on: January 15, 2022, 07:23:18 PM
It's possible that Casimero will lose, but based on the betting odds, he will likely win this fight as he is a heavy favorite. Butler considers this fight as a big fight that he has to win, so both fighters really want to win as this is their ticket to fight Inoue who is probably waiting for a unification fight.
Yes, he's the favorite of the crowd and that's why odds are obvious on him. But true to that, that, it's still possible for him to lose.
It's still unknown whether Casimero wins, Inoue is going to say yes and his team for the match that was once delayed and should be for the both of them. There's no answer yet if he's still interested in fighting him.
I would doubt Inoue's team will really say yes, I still have doubts until now because prior to this fight Casimero was already challenging Inoue but they didn't make a final decision, he was just responding but no signing of contract, that's why I have doubt man. you can't blame me.
If they will push this through, I still see Casimero to win the fight and that could be a great way for him to challenge Inoue, though for some medical reason this match was postponed right? Hoping that they can finally settle this since Casimero is slowly losing his fans because of the current situation. If its just a pure trash talk, I don’t think Casimero vs Inoue will push through as well, better to sign the contract now.

There's no health issue happened and the cancellation of the fight is due to Casimero didn't catch the required weight to make the fight happen so I guess Casimero failed to do his part to make this fight happen that's why maybe its almost impossible for this to be done by them. But if their management will try to fix this then provably they could find ways to continue this match up and if Casimero win then this is his great ticket to challenge Inoue.

Casimero was admitted at the American Hospital Dubai because of viral gastritis in just a day before the weigh-in was scheduled.
Read here: https://sports.inquirer.net/444309/wbo-issues-show-cause-to-john-riel-casimero-after-weigh-in-no-show

There are some many allegations and speculations appeared like he was faking the hospital issue just to cover that Casimero turned out to be overweight and heavy than the desired weight, and later on will be stripped on his title like what happened to him way back 2014. Either way, yes Casimero failed to do his part and either this fight will happen or not, Casimero should make a statement to clarify the issue to avoid misunderstanding.

It's been cleared already, the fact that the WBO did not strip his title, that clearly tells that his excuse is valid to postpone the fight and give him another opportunity to defend his title. So sad that some people are still speculating despite the fact that the issue are alraedy cleared.
2335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 14, 2022, 09:16:54 PM

Moving back with the Warriors, after that back-to-back losses coach Kerr needs to come up with something that will change the tempo of their

game, more on blending players and looking for a good system to work with everyone..

I guess they are already seeing this will happen. With Klay Thompson coming back, it could change their rotation and they might struggle a bit. However, let's not overreact, it's just two games and I'm sure the Warriors will bounce back. So any takers for the Warriors tonight at +3.5?

Changes in the line up sometimes mess up especially when there's a starter who just came back from a long injury. But I know GSW could adjust to their rotation as Klay has been very common piece to their system.
GSW +3.5 that's a good betting odd for them against the Bulls who also came down from a huge loss against the Nets. Both teams have lost momentum, but I'm taking GSW over the Bulls this season.
So how about this game, are you also taking the GSW?

Struggles are not new in the NBA especially these days that it's very unpredictable. They'll figure it out for sure but do you think it will start in the game against the Bulls? Warriors lose their last 2 road games in a wide margin, will they bounce back in this game?

There was as reported, and we can't say he didn't catch the required weight because he does not show up.

here's the story.
Quote
Johnriel Casimero was unable to make it to the official weigh-in on Friday, December 10, and was stricken out of his World Boxing Organization bantamweight title defense against Paul Butler of England in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
https://www.rappler.com/sports/boxing/casimero-out-of-world-title-defense-butler-gets-agbeko-as-new-opponent/

People who said that he failed to catch the require weight are just speculating.

This is the real reason.

Quote
Unfortunately, popular Pinoy WBO Bantamweight World Champion “Quadro Alas” Johnriel Casimero of Ormoc, Leyte, was forced to withdraw from his mandatory title defense against Englishman Paul Butler due to a case of gastritis, which did not allow the Leyteño to leave his room to attend the official weigh-in.

But I think it will not take a lot of time to recover, so this another opportunity given to him is a gift and he should not miss the opportunity to defend his title.
2337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 14, 2022, 01:17:12 PM
I really don't understand the Lakers...  Dwight Howard has been playing literally at an MVP level this season when he's on the floor, and while he is barely getting any minutes, his impact is obvious.  There must be something going on behind the scenes because I believe Dwight being let go last year is why they didn't make the Finals and now they're talking about trading him!  Absolutely insane.  There has to be stuff going on we aren't seeing.  I know Dwight has been "sus" for quite a while in the league due to various questionable antics, but as a basketball fan I want to see him out there...

https://hoopshype.com/2022/01/13/lakers-assessing-trade-value-of-dwight-howard-deandre-jordan-and-kent-bazemore/
Whoever made this decision do have a brain problem or he is blind.  Cheesy They are always looking at stats and not the impact of each player. The rim is protected well because of Dwight Howard and it gives chills to whoever tries to attack the rim. I don't have any idea if this is a locker room problem or it is just the management who is foolish enough to even trade him.
Frank Vogel is known for his defensive mastery and Dwight is the one that reflects that. I think they are trying to be an offensive team now which I doubt will get a championship. They should remember its not the offense that made them win a championship, it's how Dwight played being bully in the paint.
I am one of the guys that got irritated by what he did during the game but I realized how much of an impact it was after they won.

I think the management is like playing the blame game right now. First it was Rondo they let go, now they are thinking of Dwight. Yeah, it will be an insane decision to trade him and keep Jordan in the line up. And it seems that Dwight has matured enough from his last stint with the Lakers and he has been contributing. And if ever they go on the playoffs, Dwight experience is needed in the paint to bully other big guys who try to go and score in the middle.

That's correct, Howard is a very effective defender, even against Jokic who is one of the best big men in the NBA. He is very physical and he really put his passion into sports, and I think when he signed with the Lakers he was happy again and now they are thinking of shifting him to other teams, not a good move.
2338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Gary Russell vs Mark Magsayo WBC Featherweight Title on: January 13, 2022, 01:58:19 PM
My vote goes to Russell because He is the Champion one and Magsayo B-side in the fight. I think he is favourite in sports bookies.Coz The Champion is always in favourite list.Russell is definitely greatest boxer and his capabilities much more. Russell is favourite for everyone.

Well, although it is known that the statistics in boxing are difficult to fall, I have seen in the networks that there are many favoring Russel, but Magsayo is not painted on the wall, he has a lot of technique, also particularly when seeing Magsayo's physique It is seen that he is very strong and resistant, I do not think that Russel will have it so easy, I have seen some comments on YouTube that Russel can give Magsayo a KO and I do not think so much, but if we could talk that both boxers could have equality of conditions in the physical, which would complicate everything for Russel. Being a little more cautious, I would not trust Russel much, I would not be so 100% sure, of course it is my perception.

Russell is not a KO artist for me, 31 wins and 18 of them are from KO. Well, maybe he is strong but Magsayo is also strong and hungry for a win. A boxer who is very active and chasing his dream, it's worth betting for because he will certainly give everything to win, and if he fails, at least we will not regret as we support our Filipino boxers for his campaign to be a champion.
2339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 13, 2022, 01:32:58 PM
In the Philippines, the minimum wage was not even Php 1k per day in 8 hours of work.  Grin
Yes, that's true, and I think that is one of the reasons why some Filipinos choose to work/play in other countries. Like some PBA players who want to play in other country. some of them aiming a high-profit salary and some of them, They play cause they want to prove that PBA  Filipino players can fight and win even though they are small players.

Indeed, but these cases are rare because most of the players in the Philippines wants to join the PBA as it's the highest basketball league locally. And for others, well, we can't really blame them for pursuing their basketball dreams overseas as they can get paid more while showcasing their talents outside.

2340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: GGG vs Murata - Reschedule on: January 12, 2022, 12:59:51 PM

I don't know, but it seems that Canelo has close the door already, he will be going up in weight as CW and that is too much for GGG right now who campaigns at 160 lbs. So I already forget about that idea of another fight between the two.

And as you have said, GGG is already 40 and we don't know how many fight is left in him. Maybe against Murata this year and another one perhaps before the end of the year.

Yes, Alvarez already went up and the chance of GGG to move is too slim. This fight is no longer possible for now.

Maybe we will see them in the future when exhibition calls them and for the sake of a good amount of money, but with professional fight

it's too far now, GGG may have some more fights after beating Murata but if in case that the outcome didn't favor him, that might be

the final stage of his career.

But there's also a possibility that he will go down, Canelo is just trying the heavier weight class, if he will fail then probably he will go back to the weight where he dominates and that means the possibility is still there. Therefore, if you guys want to see GGG vs Canelo trilogy, you should wish Canelo will lose on his upcoming fight.
