1741  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] George Kambosos vs Devin Haney - Undisputed Lightweight Title - June 5 on: June 05, 2022, 12:30:31 PM
Pretty much disappointed on the performance of Kambosos here. He was really schooled by Haney's super jab and defense as he was not hit clean in this fight. You can see his face still clean after 12 rounds while George face is somewhat battered by that stiff jab the Haney throws all throughout the fight. I guess Kambosos 15 minute of fame is over now. The belt is going back to the US and for sure American fighters are now going to chase Haney.

The total scores say it all, not even close. Yeah, we were expecting that Kambosos with his aggressiveness will give Haney trouble, but it didn't happen, it was a one-sided fight and I think there's no need for a rematch on this fight as it's very obvious that we will still see the same winner in the rematch.
1742  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Mark Magsayo vs Rey Vargas WBC Featherweight Title (July 9) on: June 04, 2022, 09:56:06 PM
As for Mark, even if he is the underdog, he can still win this fight.

Wait, Mark Magsayo is the underdog in terms of what?

Stats? Tale-of-the-Tape? Age? Winning record? Number of TKO? Technical analysis? Power (is this even can measure?)? Strength? The difficulty of training?

I looked for the odds preview on this fight but found nothing. Why others are already considering Magsayo as an underdog here?

As of now, the sports bookies haven't opened some line regarding this fight. Maybe the bookies will update the odds 2 week before the schedule of fight and if the lines will open soon, I bet Magsayo is the one who will be the favorite to win by the sport bookies as he is the champion.

I believe that is just a misunderstanding, as you can see @Kemarit used the word "if".

There's no betting odds yet so we cannot conclude that Magsayo is the underdog.

Saying Magsayo is an underdog is just like underestimating him as a champion, it's very rare in boxing that the Champion is the underdog, unless that champion's capabiilty is a big questionable. Well, let us not come into conclusion yet, speculate but wait for the official betting odds.
1743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your NBA Champion this season? on: June 04, 2022, 09:39:03 PM

I think everyone is riding with the Warriors again, but I also believe that some people might be tempted to put an ML bet on the Boston Celtics because they beat the Warriors in game 1 and it's possible that they could do it again.

That's what I thought too until ESPN said Boston Celtics has the higher chance of winning the Finals this year against the Warriors. People became skeptical about it at first until the result of the game 1. Some people will now turn to root for the Celtics after game 1, but for me the Warriors still has a higher chances to win the title, though I've loved to see Tatum and Brown and especially for Horford to win their first ring.
But who knows, If the Celtics win again in game 2, then that would be very difficult situation for the Warriors and the Celtics will most likely to win the title this year.

Game 2 is very crucial for the Warriors, they can't afford to allow the Celtics to dominate them again, because even with just one quarter, anything can change and it will favor the Celtics. 2nd game of defending their home court, I'm expecting a blowout win here.
1744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 04, 2022, 01:12:58 PM
After the first match, you can confirm the old basketball proverb that fans are attracted by attack and the championship is won by defense.
Defense alone cannot win games, it's just that the Celtics have shot very well in the 4th quarter and their 3-point shooting is very accurate. I would believe that Celtics has dominated the Warriors if they are in control in the whole game, what I see is that they only control the 4th quarter, so they need to prove it again in game 2.

Celtics do not only have the defense, they also have the offense that's why they are already in the NBA Finals. yes, the Warriors are the popular team because they have been in the NBA Finals many times and have won multiple championships already, but we cannot neglect what the Celtics did in the playoffs especially int he NBA Finals.

As per tale of the tape, both are undefeated but Vargas has the height and reach advantage and has more experience. KO percentage is almost the same, 67% for Magsayo, 63% for Vargas.

The fight is a month to go, and maybe as we get closer, crypto sports bookies might open their line here. Maybe this is not as well known as other fights that have a line already. But definitely, this will be one hell of a fight.

Height and reach advantage but still, if those are only the advantages of Vargas, I would never consider Magsayo as an underdog.

I think the odds will just be equal or not that wide. Even though I'm trying to understand the sentiment of others that Vargas is the favorite, I can't really say that's the situation here. Magsayo is a Champion and regardless of whether Vargas is more experienced, that's not the basis.

But you are right, we have to wait for the official odds to be released to see if our speculation is right on whether Magsayo is the Favorite, Underdog or equal.

Magsayo is the favorite and yet we thought that Magsayo will not be the favorite, I think there's something wrong with that guess. We will find out once the odds are release, but for now, I would respect Magsayo and believe that as a champ, he will be the favorite to win this fight.
1746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your NBA Champion this season? on: June 04, 2022, 12:25:38 PM

We never know, but although I like the Boston Celtics, I still think that the Warriors will take game 2 as this series will be boring if the Warriors their 2 home games. They have plenty of time to watch the tape, with that plenty of time, they can device a plan and make the right adjustment in game 2.

I agree with that, this is a no brainer, Warriors will win and will cover the spread.

Warriors are still the public play, but whatever, I would keep it simple, they need to win to even the series and has to win by a good margin, at least 10 points should be good enough, and they should not allow to melt in the 4th quarter.

I think everyone is riding with the Warriors again, but I also believe that some people might be tempted to put an ML bet on the Boston Celtics because they beat the Warriors in game 1 and it's possible that they could do it again.
1747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: June 02, 2022, 11:31:48 AM
So it's game 1 tomorrow night, for sure many are going to ride on the Warriors side because they have the tools to win the championship again.-3.5 is the opening line for them, but I a guess putting a bet higher for a better odds might not heard us.

So I'm going with the -4.5, current odds: 1.98.

Best of luck to all bettors,  Smiley

A -4.5 handicap on the Warriors side is not that bad along with its odds, for sure there will be a lot of bettors who will ride that spread and odds and of course that includes me Cheesy Though there are also bettors who believed that the Celtics will take the first win tomorrow but I think their chances are just slim because Game 1 will be played at the Warriors homecourt. Well, anyway, maybe that will happen. Good luck folks!
1748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your NBA Champion this season? on: June 01, 2022, 07:34:07 PM
Although GSW appears to be the favorite team in this final series, Celtics were able to win against the Heat after fierce matches and shows that they are not an easy opponent. There will be no easy matches in the final series and i think the Celtics can make a surprise.
Yes, they win against the Heat and that's what matters. However, Heat is now the same brand of the Warriors, the Warriors are more on a team play, they move the ball very well and not only that, their shooting and defense are way better than the Heat as well.

And I will add to that, the defensive players of the Warriors (Igoudala, Porter, Payton) will likely return in Game 1. Not sure how would the Celtics respond to every game but I'm sure and I know that they can adjust well according to the Warriors play.

The Celtics made their revenge by defeating the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Miami Heat respectively and that is certainly not an easy feat to achieve because those teams are one of the heaviest teams in the West including the defending champion. And now that they are in the Finals, can they defeat the Warriors though? That's what I want to find out.
1749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PROS AND CONS OF CRRYPTOGAMBLING. on: June 01, 2022, 05:07:16 PM
But in real life, people somehow need to gamble too because its just a form of entertainment but in a business way. And you need funds for you to be able to gamble, whether you win or lose in the end.
As a matter of fact, some people gamble for fun, but some people also still see it as a means of earning until they have lost often and often or they become addicted. Nevertheless, gambling should still be for fun and not a means of making money which is not but a means of addiction.

All will be good if that is the case but unfortunately, the majority of gamblers in casino or in different avenues aren't looking to have some fun because their goal is to double or even triple their capital. They know the risks and that most of the time they will lose than win and that is inevitable but they still rely on hope that maybe, just maybe, this day would be different and they could bring home huge cash. Eventually, what will happen is the exact opposite.
1750  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: June 01, 2022, 04:43:11 PM
Yep, the team got no other choice as well but to try for that shot, who else is more capable to do that? It's just too bad for Jimmy Butler because he was the one who forced to make that shot and now it's him who can't move on with that because that cost them a fishing trip this summer. The whole roster cannot afford for an overtime because they were so tired already of transitioning, that situation was a do or die and his instincts were telling him to do that shot because it was wide open.
I used a swear word when he took the shot because I was not expecting it. He has the time to wait for his teammates (20 seconds remaining) but I guess all he wants is to win like what he said in the post-game interview. Win or nothing. With just a bit of an arc from that shot, it could've been a good one.
I don't blame him, I actually admired his confidence to do the final shot because we all know it will be a blame game if other players do it and it won't be good for their team's chemistry for next year. He'd rather take all the blame. What could he be thinking right now? The "what if's" of the game, maybe.

Same here, that move he made surely shocked me because it was too sudden and we know that there's still enough time as they could make a better shot than that. But yea, like as you said, he'd rather carry all the blame because he knows that his team mates couldn't sleep that night if they were the ones who made that mistake. Anyway, the good about their team is there's no blaming game and instead they cheered Butler up not to overthink it because he indeed tried his best.
1751  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 (September 17) on: May 31, 2022, 04:10:03 PM
Waited for ages to get this trilogy fight. But now I am not that excited. Canelo agreed to this fight only after knowing that Golovkin's prime days are over. The trilogy fight is occurring 4 years after Canelo vs Golovkin 2. Ideally Canelo should have agreed to the fight in 2019, or the latest by 2020. Now Golovkin is already 40 years old and his prime days may be over. As the odds predict, I am not expecting much from the Kazakh legend now. He maybe able to put a tough fight and may last the full 12 rounds, and that is all.

As expected, there will be comments like these. This shows how active we are in the world of boxing because we can say that a certain fight is or was a mismatch including this trilogy. Even if Canelo himself won't admit that he's not afraid of GGG but it's so clear and he cannot deny that fact that GGG is one of those boxers who pushed him into corners and had a hard time.

That is also why Canelo vocally said there's no need for a trilogy because he won the 2 fights when in-fact the 1st match was a draw and it was a close bout. Now, Canelo agreed because GGG is already at his verge of retiring this industry and the latter is not that fully capable of defeating Canelo unlike if he had given a trilogy early 2020.

I believe that if Canelo will win, the people and the fans won't be impressed about it. But who knows, maybe GGG can still manage to give Canelo another upset followed by that defeat against Bivol.

I go with your statement, Even Canelo will win this fight. There's no impact on his name anymore, unlike if GGG wins this fight the hypes

before he retires his gloves will really impacting to his career. We don't know if how the fight will be ended and how both fighters will

comes up with their respective strategy, as long as we will all be entertained it's good enough in finally see the trilogy of this fight,

it's long been waited and now it's finally here.

Exactly, people know the story behind this trilogy and winning for the 2nd time in this trilogy won't give him much benefit and hype because he will be just remembered as the man who got defeated and seek vengeance towards the man who's already at the verge of retiring as a pro boxer.

For me, I would love to see GGG winning for the last time before he decides to hang up his gloves. I certainly believe this is his last battle and the last route of the Big Drama.
1752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your NBA Champion this season? on: May 31, 2022, 03:32:49 PM

Boston came from a great series after another, facing KD's Nets at the first round, then the defending champ in the second round.

Now, they just currently beat the Heat in the ECF finals. It will be nicer if they will draw the fight, Tatum, Brown and Smart against

Curry, Thompson and Green a great core who really carries the entire team up to these final. Both teams will again lean to how those stars

will tower both offense and the defense.

I would like to see them winning the championship this year too since they are really into breaking some great walls to reach this far. But there's one more torn road they need to get through which is the healthy GSW. will they come up with another upset victory against GSW or are they will gonna be like the Mavs in the WCF?

I see the Boston Celtics will really have the chance if they start winning the first two games of the series but if they gonna lose, then it will be hard to come back when you are against the splash brothers.

Can't see which one will win yet but when talking about advantages, surely the Warriors have those advantages as they're the ones who's healthy and have a fresh feet this Finals because they have rested good while waiting the ECF winner. Aside from that, the first two games will be played at Chase Center and we know how impressive is the Warriors when it comes to their homecourt and they have these players who is hard to guard and their offense is entirely good.

About Boston Celtics, they will have some struggle especially in the Game 1 because they will be the ones who will adjust more to the Warriors power and capabilities. If we're talking about player capabilities, Celtics have the handicaps and disadvantage about that because almost everyone in the present roster of Warriors is stepping up while the Celtics side only have 3 or 4 good valuable players.
1753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eastern Conference Finals (Heat vs Celtics) on: May 31, 2022, 02:30:28 PM
It was a good decision to take a three to win the game at that moment but he made it tough for himself. He took it too quickly even if he's already tired and his teammates weren't set to help in rebound if he misses. It wasn't even a long three but he almost airballed that one. He could have made one more pass  for a little breather and look for a screen.

There are lots of "what if" bro. What if he nailed it? That wrong decision will turn into a good decision, right? The play won't be wrong in the eyes of others since Butler made it. Actually, even some fans may be upset about the decision, it will be a different story if that 3 went it.

The Heat was rallying throughout the game and that was exhausting. Instead of fully blaming Jimmy Butler, blame his other teammates that only wake up in the final minutes like Oladipo and Lowry. If only these guys are red-hot early, Butler won't take much of the load to narrow down the lead.

I believe it's the bettors who blames Jimmy Butler for that quick 3 point shot he didn't made because even in my side, I always hear that he could have pass that ball to others who could make the shot at point blank or he can attack the paint and make the shot and maybe go for an overtime. I was just listening but I said to myself, if only they knew how tired was Jimmy Butler for carrying the team. He played for almost 50 minutes and barely rest in between quarters and time outs while his team are not that consistent.

It was a good play and the Miami Heat still deserves some credits mainly Jimmy Butler because they got to the conference finals.

Never expected that the Boston will make it through, I expected that it will be the heat but still that was hell of a match from Jayson Tatum and Jimmy Butler. I voted Warriors since I was a Warriors fan and the odds was not that bad but there's a saying that the ball is circle and what's on the downside can go on the upside so we'll never know who will win this playoffs, even though the Warriors was a defending champion they still need to make sure that they would be able to secure wins.

The Golden State Warriors is not the defending champion, it's the Milwaukee Bucks which was defeated by the Boston Celtics in Round 2 of the playoffs conference. The Warriors last Finals appearance was on 2019 against the Raptors and they were defeated that same year.

As for me, I already expected that the Celtics will be the ones to survive and to advance towards the Finals this year. What I didn't expected is that the Miami Heat forced themselves a Game 7 because I expected that the Celtics will close the series in their home but Jimmy Butler carried the team and went on beast mode.
1756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 30, 2022, 12:37:25 PM
~ A great game by Jimmy Butler, but he was one shot away from being a hero at the end when he missed that three.
Until now, I don't know why Butler took a three instead of taking a two and put it into overtime. It's a clear path to him and it's just him and Horford and no defenders in the paint. He wants to be a hero to the team but it didn't went the way he wants to and now it cost them their trip to NBA Finals.
I don't think being the hero was even on his mind when he decided to go for it. He probably wanted to finish it with the three because he knows he's too tired to let the game go to overtime and he is short on support. Unfortunately, he didn't take more time to set his feet before taking that shot. Still mad respect to him though.

Yep, the team got no other choice as well but to try for that shot, who else is more capable to do that? Game 7 will be tomorrow, finally, we will see the biggest game so far in the playoffs.

I like the status of the Heat here, they are the home team, and yet they are underdog per sportsbook betting odds.
Butler has to drop a good number, that way their chance to win is good.
There is a reason why they are the "underdogs" even though they lead the eastern conference and they still took the series to 7 game and basically they look like it is equal betting right now, it is just that Celtics looked a bit more comfortable on games they won, whereas Heat looked a bit less comfortable when they won.

So, people assumed Celtics could win easily if they play their game well enough, but to be fair if Heat could hit their threes again, I believe they could win equally. I would put this game to 2.50-2.50 odds equally to be fair, because to me these two teams are equally good and there is no difference between them at all.

I think you what you meant is that the Miami Heat have managed to win some games but barely compared to the Boston Celtics who have dominated them if they win some games.

The bookies are seeing them as an underdog because they are undermanned and the rest of the roster are just nursing their injury while playing. So, the Celtics indeed have some advantage. Also, people don't really expected that Jimmy Butler could duplicate his performance on Game 6 and carry the team again.

And looks like they were right after all because the Celtics have won the conference.

I will root for Miami tonight as I will keep my vouch and support the same teams that I said I will from the start. One went out against GSW and I can't blame Mavs as they already did a fantastic season but on MIami , I'm still waiting for that massive game where all the players will play good not just Jimmy buckets.

Will be rooting for the Miami Heat as well at +2.5, yes it's really hard to predict, but I will bank on the experience of the team. Butler, Bam and Tucker or Lowry has the experience to go to the finals already and they have the the young guys to help them out. And they have the home court advantage which is very important in a game 7 close out game. And if I'm not mistaken, the numbers are in the favor of Heat.

I agree with you on that, they have been in the NBA finals before, so we can tell that they have the advantage in terms of experience. It was Butler who is carrying the team, he should do the same in game 7 for them to be in the Finals. However, we don't know what the Celtics are cooking here, they may have some plans to counter the defense of the Heat and to limit Jimmy the Buckets, all that we can found out tomorrow.

Back to the PBA, have read in my social media news feed that K. Ravena and NLEX were meeting for a possible return, is this true?

So his contract with Japan's B league is over?

That's what I'm saying, contracts overseas are mostly short-term only, that's why some PBA players just choose to stay in the PBA so they have an assurance that they'll continue to receive their salary for the long term. I guess Ravena spoke well to the management before he left the PBA, so I expect that the management will accept his comeback as well.

As per below, his one-year contract has expired but he may be extended as there are rumors that a new contract has been offered so their meeting must be for another arrangement like before where he plays in the PBA while it is off-season in the Japan B-league and fly to Japan when the season there open, to me this arrangement will not do well with NLEX. It is better for them to let go Ravena and let him pay for the remaining contract that he has with them as he can't help in their campaign for the championship.

Quote
Ravena’s one-year deal with Shiga Lakestars in the Japan B.League already expired, but SPIN.ph learned from people close to the Filipino guard that a new contract offer has been put on the table.

So what Ravena is trying to do here?

Is he playing safe but in the end will put NLEX hanging when he got his contract renewed?
I don't like that, he was thinking that he is a valuable piece of superstar and that the team would go after him, maybe as a sign of respect, he must make his decision final before reaching out the NLEX.
