2381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Elacoin | Releasing In 1 Day | Fair Elastic Scrypt Mining | No Premine on: May 13, 2013, 10:03:01 PM
So is this 'elastic block' stuff a bullshit marketing gimmick or is it actually different from Litecoin, Terracoin etc

Did you read any of the thread? The block reward is based on network difficulty

Well higher hashrate = higher block reward, but higher hashrate = less chance of finding a block. So I am not seeing anything special happen here? Please tell me if I am wrong...
2382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [BTB] Buying BitBars in bulk on: May 13, 2013, 09:59:17 PM
If anyone has a decent number of BitBars to sell me, please drop me a private message and we can make a deal.

I've done a ton of trades on here with zero complaints ever. Cheers.

2385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Yac going to btc e today? any news? on: May 13, 2013, 06:55:23 PM
Any hopes of this one sky-rocketing have turned to dust.

Noobs keep thinking what happened with Feathercoin is the norm... it was a complete fluke and just happened to come along at the right place at the right time.

Does luke-jr have a history as altcoin analyser? His post is very short...

He's a developer on Bitcoin. Granted, I'm not saying his claims are valid or anything. I simply posted it because it seemed to go overlooked earlier and thought it would be worth discussing among people that understand the source.

He is extremely biased against all alt-coins. He executed a 51% attack that killed BBQ when it launched and has an extremely negative stance towards Litecoin. He's well known for this...
2387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any idea on when GOX will implement LTC? on: May 12, 2013, 08:04:47 PM
I am expecting a timeframe of BFL proportions.
2388  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Checking inputed numbers are permissible bitcoin number types on: May 12, 2013, 07:43:35 PM
I am working in PHP and I want to check if a given user submitted input is not too big or too small, where the input represents an amount in Bitcoins (don't worry I am sanitising the data and not blindly using it).

1. I am storing the amounts in the database as 64 bit integers (multiply them by 10^8 to avoid rounding errors in future calculations). I am limiting the amounts so that they cannot exceed the following precision: no more than 4 numbers after the decimal point. Also since no-one can have more than 100 million bitcoins, I also want to specify no more than 8 numbers precending the decimal point. How can I achieve this neatly?

My current approach seems a bit hack-ish:

Code:
//Check for existence of decimal point in string using strpos

//explode the string by the decimal point

//do a strlen on both the strings and check they dont exceed 8 and 4 respectively

//if no decimal point, simply do a strelen and check it's not greater than 8

2. Also, I don't want the inputted data to be smaller than 0.0001. I am proficient in php for web design not familiar with the math functions of php is there an easy way to handle this?

Thanks for any tips  Smiley

Bryan Mills is no longer working on the project unfortunately, he pulled a "Satoshi".

What is that supposed to mean?

Do you see Satoshi around here anymore?

OP ignored all my questions in the thread.

YAC is on a slow downward descent to 3-4 cents a coin. It will stagnate there for a long time and if it shows worth it will gradually climb upwards. Bad news for people who wanted a quick buck, good news for the coin as slow, steady growth is the way to avoid bubble pops.
2392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★ ▀▄▀▄▀ YACoin Now LIVE on BTER ▀▄▀▄▀ ★★ on: May 11, 2013, 11:47:33 PM
Just let idiots cash out. Once this whole chaos is over, there will be 3 cryptocoins standing. BTC, LTC and YAC. Everything else is just not needed.

Lmao.

bter is a touch of death for a coin to go first there.

They launch it as a 'test' where only the sellers know about it for the first day or two. That has a bear-ish effect on the price.

2397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BitBar] Calling out first uncovered SHILL mr_random on: May 11, 2013, 02:16:27 PM
TLDR: I paid for the 40 BitBars for about 0.56 bitcoin per bar from BlastBob!!!

Update! Moderator refused to step in. Gave weak reasons imo, would only have taken that person 5 minutes to log into my account and check my private messages.

I hate to post a private trade publicly but since the moderator won't step in I have no choice.

I bought the BitBars from BlastBob. I saw him post in a topic saying he had 50 to sell and offered to take 40 of them. I said I would pay 0.6 btc per bar in 4 transactions (ended up being 0.56 each or something). I had no idea if he is connected to BitBars. I noticed in the YAC launch thread he very quickly accumulated a ton of YACs and has sold at least 30k - I doubt he is behind YAC too, I think he just has one of the best mining mega rigs around. I noticed the next day after I bought my BitBars from him that he was selling a lot of them.

I sent the money to him directly from my btc-e wallet. Am I allowed to post his bitcoin address? It should show the money going in there

I bought my BitBars in good faith and have learnt a good lesson! Innocently buying coins from the wrong person leads to stupid people calling you a scammer.

The topic I set up here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=202089.0

Is fact based only. I ask for no fud and only reports of stolen bitcoins. I have updated the original post saying one of the people claiming to have lost coins has now come forward saying his account was hacked. Sorry for trying to help people idiot.
