You had better check the league rules again mate.  Smiley

Besides I didn't say that Juventus' beating Milan by at least two goals would carry them ahead of Milan right away. It looks like you didn't read my post careful enough but no problem. I said that if Juventus win against them like that they were going to have one last chance on the final week of the season. In that case let's say Juventus won and Milan got a draw or loss, then Juventus would take the fourth position from them as a result.  I hope you get my point now.
If I am not wrong this applies when the points are equal and the goal difference is equal too, is it not? I think that's the third thing that is looked it, is it the second? I always thought first the points, then the goal difference and then the head to head to check the rankings. If the goal difference doesn't matter does that mean Juventus could have 8 less difference, and could still win with 1 goal difference at head to head for example?

That doesn't feel rewarding, you play so many games all season long and you are better, but because of one bad game that means you are ranked lower due to head to head, it's unfair looking. Obviously the federation knows more than I do so if they did this then they might have considered all options I suppose.

I used Flashscore to check out this information and saw first that head-to-head games were being taken into account first in case of points' being equal. However when I check it out now there I see that the information has changed. It is score difference which is taken into account first now. I can't believe how they can make a simple mistake on a website which is visited very often.

I checked some teams in the standings to confirm that as well. For example Leverkusen and Frankfurt. Frankfurt are ahead in the head-to-head games. But Leverkusen still finished ahead of them despite the equal points situation. Because their score difference is bigger.

Schalke couldn't save themselves from relegating directly. They still had a chance to at least join play-out games on the final week. Getting a win against Leipzig was going to be enough to do that but they couldn't show a satisfying level of performance and lost that game as well. After watching them in the 2nd Bundesliga I thought they would be better here this time.

However we saw nothing different than Schalke in general. There was a time period they started to get better results which gave them the chance to fight for play-out before the end. But they wasted it as well.

Schalke were at place 17 and 18 for 23 matchdays. Their highest place in the table was place 12 at matchday 6. They tried the whole season not to get relegated. Now they have to go back down to Bundesliga 2 after only one year. Last season they were the favourites for promotion. It will certainly be more difficult now and we will see if Schalke will have to stay out of Bundesliga 1 for a longer time.

I don't know how they can perform so differently in the 2nd Bundesliga and Bundesliga. I know that there is a solid quality difference but still Schalke aren't a team with no experience in this league. They have really nice memories in here as well. They just can't do anything to bring back those times. There has gotta be a way to make a big improvement.

I wonder how rich they are now. I guess they aren't in a very stable condition financially. But if they still have enough funds to convince some useful players then they should go for it. However they can't convince them in the second league so they will need to wait for promoting to the Bundesliga again.

There is an FA Cup finale ahead which is only two days later. Manchester City and Manchester United are going to be fighting over the title in Wembley. These teams both are teams that have achieved a title already. While Manchester City were winning the Premier League title, Manchester United won the EFL Cup. It is a big opportunity for each side to make double.

However Manchester City come a few steps forward in this game in my opinion. Because there is still going to be a week to go for the Champions League finale so they can start with all of their usual players. As we all know how prestigious cup the FA Cup is they would do their best to win this game. I don't think Manchester United can surprise them in this game.
2444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: May 31, 2023, 11:18:09 PM
Mathematically there is still a chance for Sevilla to finish the season at the 7th position in the standings. But I have serious level of doubts about if they would like to focus on that. Their priority is to win the Europa League title and the finale is going to be played today. This is their only way left to join the Champions League group stage.

Let's say they failed in achieving this goal then I think they will focus on the 7th position on the final week of the season. They will need to beat Real Sociedad away then and hope for the other many challenging team for the same position to get favorable results.
Yes, indeed they still have the chance to finish in the top 7 positions, but the competition there is very tight, they have to compete with 4 other teams, such as Rayo Vallecano, Girona, Athletic Club and Osasuna and also the opponent they will face in the final match will be Real Sociedad which they will not easily defeat.

But we are just talking realistically now, their chances in the Europa League are also big and there they will definitely be in the Champions League if they can become champions, and logically they will prefer to prioritize the Europa League compared to La Liga. But we'll see in the final match which will take place in a few hours, whether they will be able to win the match or not. And the results are not in favor of Sevilla, they will focus on their matches in La Liga.

They did it! They won the Europa League title after a hard work and they are in the Champions League group stage from now on. Therefore there is no need left for them to fight hard on the final week in the La Liga to finish the season at the 7th position. It was already a tough task to perform while their fate was depending on the other results at the same time.

This has been a really interesting season for Sevilla honestly. They even experienced the threat of relegation for a while but the current look of them is much better than that for certain.

When you say young strikers there is one name which comes to my mind quickly - Osimhen. As you know he has been at the centre of transfer rumours in the recent times. We still don't know from what teams he will get official offers but we have predictions about that. Chelsea have been the most rumoured team with his name these days.

His name is usually discussed and ascribed to Chelsea because that was his dream club while he was growing up playing football and he saw Didier Drogba as his mentor. Chelsea are also in need of a striker following a poor season, but the big question is that, will Osimehn join a team that will not compete in the Champions League next season?

You have a good point. Not being a part of the Champions League next season is like an obstacle for Chelsea to deal with this summer. This can add extra difficulties in their signings of big names especially. But on the other hand Chelsea is a very rich team right now. Boehly is ready to spend the budget for players who they would find very useful.

Maybe Osimhen can still be convinced depending on the amount of money. But if these conditions are offered by a big team joining the Champions League then Chelsea's chance wouldn't be high.

I wasn't expecting this much bad performance from Roma in the penalty shoout-out stage of the game. Bono saved one with his feet and technically touched the other one with the tip of his fingers and the all came back from the post. Sevilla were nearly giving a second chance to them. But thanks to Patricio's encroachment the penalty was repeated and Sevilla put an end to the game to win the title.

This is the first ever time Mourinho loses a finale in a European cup such as the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. Sevilla are still finding a way to win the Europa League title even when they don't have a very good season in general.
2447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: May 31, 2023, 11:20:36 AM
Arsenal impressed us all this season by finishing at the 2nd position. They could have even been the winner of the league title if they didn't mess up things while we were nearing the end of the season. But I'm sure that the board and supporters both are happy with the general look and this result. Because it is the most successful season of them by far compared to the recent years.

Now there would be bigger expectations from them I assume. They would be expected to qualify for last 16 in the Champions League and fight for the Premier League title on one hand. To do all of these things I hope they are aware that they need to fortify the squad more.
2448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: May 31, 2023, 11:14:32 AM
Interesting things are happening with the odds of the final game. I mean Sevilla were the favourite side to win for a long time. But now I see that the things changed in the opposite direction and Roma are favoured now. I wonder what affected bookmakers to change the odds in this way. I don't see anything different with the injuries list for example.

Sevilla are still the king of the Europa League as well. But Roma have a much more successful manager like Mourinho on one hand. It is really hard to pick a side now but maybe I might try my luck with Roma especially after this interesting change.

As the season has finally finished the upcoming transfer window is going to be quite exciting from now on. I don't know top teams of the league would rush anything at the first times of it already. But some of them had better start looking for better players to put in specific positions to strengthen them. For example Liverpool and Manchester United come to my mind firstly.

Liverpool need a significant improvement for their midfield. They chased Bellingham transfer but he is about to sign for Real Madrid officially. I assume they will finalize Mac Allister transfer instead after this news. He is a really talented player to make Liverpool midfield more reliable.

As for Manchester United they also need some fortification in the central midfield as there aren't many options there. Sabitzer might be added to the team permanently maybe or they would look for another player. Most importantly they need a reliable striker and Kane is the strongest candidate for now.

Liverpool have to transfer a few players to the midfield. If Manchester United fail to sign Kane, they may repeat their performance this season. I don't think the Kane transfer is a mandatory option for them. However, Chelsea definitely need to make a good striker transfer. Star names like Victor Osimhen or Neymar could be good choices for them. I think the most comfortable team in the transfer period would be Manchester City. They have several alternatives in almost all regions. There is even such an example. Manchester City will most likely not sign a new contract with Ilkay. There are reports that Arsenal are seeing this as an opportunity. They are definitely the most comfortable team.

I'm not so sure about Neymar honestly. I know that Manchester United have been on the rumours like they will sign him this summer. But I don't expect even an offer by the Red Devils. Because he is getting older (31) day by day and his market value is still 70 million euros. I can't even imagine what kind of a contract he would demand from them to think about leaving seriously.

I don't find it sensible to spend a lot of money for a player like this. Like none of these is enough Neymar is a quite injury-prone player as well. He is even injured right now and missed many games.

According to the source above, Real Madrid are planning to make an offer for Roberto Firmino soon. Actually this has been rumoured for some time and it looks like they are serious about this transfer. Firmino is actually only one of their targets right now. He might not be their first choice but they would think of him as a solid option I assume. Because his contract is about to expire with Liverpool.

Interestingly Liverpool don't want to continue with him either. Firmino isn't a useless player right now in my opinion. By doing this they will rely on Nunez more unless they fill Firmino's space.

Firmino's contract will expire on June 30, 2023. Meanwhile, he is currently 31 years old. he could become a second line player, to fill in for Benzema if he is injured or rested to conserve energy. to be honest, I have no doubts about this one player. But I have a question, can Firmino achieve chemistry with his partner while playing for Madrid. I mean, like the Trio Madrid, they have really scary combinations on the counter. Vini jr, Benzema, Rodrygo, these three players understand each other. that's why when Benzema is absent, Vini Jr and his colleagues are like players who have lost their way.

Maybe, Firmino could be another option. after all, he is a free transfer player. but ideally, Madrid should bring in one of the young strikers as Benzema's successor. plus, Madrid actually needs a midfielder who is quite mature. I mean, apart from Kroos and Luca Modric. because, just bringing bellingham does not guarantee that his work will be as good as with Dortmund. however, let's see what Madrid will do in the transfer window this summer.

When you say young strikers there is one name which comes to my mind quickly - Osimhen. As you know he has been at the centre of transfer rumours in the recent times. We still don't know from what teams he will get official offers but we have predictions about that. Chelsea have been the most rumoured team with his name these days.

Maybe Manchester United can also join the race due to looking for a striker. But if Real Madrid intervene as well then things can get really interesting. Because maybe this season wasn't a good one for Real Madrid at all. But they are still Real Madrid and the dream team for many youngsters. Maybe Osimhen is also one of them.

After losing so many unnecessary points and giving up on the league title early Real Madrid had better figure out where they did wrong. Not only the La Liga was bad for them of course. They were really demolished by Manchester City in the Champions League as well. Ancelotti is still here and I wonder whether he will leave this summer.

This unsuccessful season can be considered as one of the reasons for that maybe. But he has been linked with Brazil national team job for a long time at the same time. He has looked positive about a potential deal as well. If we see an official offer Real Madrid would need to search for a new reliable manager.

And it is another failure for Freiburg when it comes to making it to top four. They wasted their chances in the previous season as well and lost their opportunity completely on the final weeks of that season. It happened once again now. They even lost to Frankfurt while they needed a win to maintain their hopes until the final whistle in Union Berlin's game.

Union Berlin won their game just as I expected but the score was only 1-0 which was risky actually. But even if they got a draw it looks like it was going to be enough for them. It is going to be interesting to watch Union Berlin in the Champions League groups next season.  Grin
You know what they say, right? "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride." Seems like Freiburg has taken that saying to heart! I mean, they were so close and then bam! They hit the self-destruct button against Frankfurt. Like seriously, who does that? But hey, on the bright side, they did better than last season, so progress, right?

On the other hand, Union Berlin is living the dream! Getting promoted to Bundesliga 1 and now, making it to the Champions League, it's like a Cinderella story, minus the glass slipper! I can't wait to see them going toe-to-toe with Europe's best next season!

Union Berlin's presence in the Champions League is going to be interesting to watch. It isn't a familiar environment for them and their inexperience can cause them to have significant difficulties. But it depends on what kind of a group they will have at the same time. If they get lucky who knows maybe they can make a surprise and get past the group stage successfully.

They are a team that eliminated Ajax in the Europa League so they wouldn't be a team to be underestimated either. But Union Berlin had better get ready for a really tough challenge in the Champions League as all the teams care about the games a lot for making as much money as possible.

Monaco chased the Champions League chance for a long time but the drop in their form in the recent times caused them to fall behind a lot. After losing their chance mathematically it looks like they have given up on the league completely. Because for a couple of weeks they don't look like they care about joining the Europa League or any other European cup at all.

Their last two fixtures were tough ones against Lyon and Rennes though. But they could have still performed much better than this normally. Anyway in short this is a much more unsuccessful season for Monaco compared to the previous season. This might result in losing some of their good players this summer.
2457  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 29, 2023, 12:05:43 PM
I have checked the last fixture for Milan and seen that their opponent is going to be Verona. Therefore even if they lose to Juventus tonight it looks like there is no way Milan fail in beating Verona. Apart from that Juventus' job is extra difficult because they lost to Milan by 2-0 in San Siro before. As head-to-head games are taken into account first in case of equal points, Juventus will need to beat them by at least two goals tonight.  Grin

Things went great for Juventus when it comes to the other games of the teams between them and Milan though. Atalanta and Roma both lost and created an opportunity for Juventus to attack with all they have got for top four one last time.

Lol, such calculations do not apply when it comes to league competitions, because such calculations are only applied in knockout competitions, I hope you understand. After all, if Juventus can beat Milan in this match, in reality Juventus will only rise to fifth place and not overtake Milan. lol!

Also, Milan's 2-0 victory in the first match or in their meetings this season, does not mean that Juventus have to win more than 2-0. lol! This is a league, so everything is decided by points accumulated throughout the season and not about head to head goals to determine their position in the table. After all, basically it will still be difficult for Juventus to finish in the top four, because the chances that Juventus have are also very low, moreover Juventus' performance is still very unstable.

I think Celta Vigo will be the last team relegating from the La Liga. Because their job is going to be really difficult against Barcelona. Technically they can do the same thing Valladolid did to Barcelona but I still don't know. I feel like this time Barcelona would get 1 point at worst. In the meantime Almeria can beat Espanyol while Espanyol have been relegated already.

On the other hand Valladolid can also beat Getafe home. Getafe seem to be one of the teams under threat technically but they are already two points ahead. Even if they lose they would stay in the league. Valladolid beat Barcelona which must have improved the morale of the players. They can make use of it to win this crucial game in my opinion.
