re both posts above, indeed it looks a remarkably stupid idea that would just appeal to buractrats & polatitions with nothing better to do than self promotion, my only interest was that it is a DIY currency/store of value & it has FSA approval, the key here may be the Credit union thingie or what ever it was that adds legitimacy I guess so of interest for BTC & how maybe to go about getting regulatory approval so that finally Intersango can get UK banks to manage their transactions without it breaking all the time

the FSA though may just be indulging the Bristol £ as it's sure to go TU very soon & presents no threat, actually I should enter the design competition now - I can think of lots with graduating cup sizes of hot model's bristols as the denomination increases, might actually make the issue a winner too

someone should send this to Fark for their photoshop competition  Tongue

3043  Economy / Speculation / Re: You say, "Bear" ? on: February 07, 2012, 05:10:49 PM
Otoh, this really interests me now. Did you use leverage on Bitcoinica for the buy?

edit: sorry, the leverage buy must have been bigger as I see 15k BTC volume. I guess you bought AFTER that 10k buy.

I'm not sure if you're reading the chart correctly, the green bar third in from the right half way up at the end of the chart is showing the price rise from $5.65 to $5.70 - it's not the volume that's down the bottom under it in $s - the second green bar in from the rhs end of chart on the base of the chart

excuse me if I've misunderstood your post or the chart, written in a bit of a hurry

I bought 996 BTC + whatever BTC Gox swallowed as a fee (edit 4 BTC of course), then later 103 BTC but that may be after this chart - I didn't check

edit: I think that I 'm confused now re my interpretation of the chart, will have to look again more closely when I have a mo...

If it's any consolation, I bought $3500 Bitcoin yesterday to send to someone as payment for something.

& if it's any further consolation I was the just under $6,000 buy that moved the price from $5.65 to $5.70 briefly & caught a EMA(10) > EMA(21) crossover - though it corrected

little spliff smoking dude - crazy optimist  Roll Eyes

FWIW I wanted to go long this morning but Intersango is taking forever to accept my transfer. Missing this rally Sad

I requested one out from them on Sunday, finally today they've replied, though still not telling me when I'll get my funds  Angry

Hi,

first let me say sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

Lloyds online banking is essentially broken, we have received so many transactions so quickly that their system is incapable of returning our current transactions list.

We're trying to get this fixed but this essentially means sending funds is on hold.

Sending funds is a multiple step process which consistently fails.

However, receiving funds requires their systems to work only for a single request.

We're currently exploring other banking options as the outages from Lloyds are simply unacceptable.

Again sorry for the delay.

bulanula - many thanks for your offer, if CYPER can't set it all up for me which I'm hoping that he can as normal customer service then I may well take you up on your offer, I installed Linux on my Mac so expect I should be able to do that if his comp has Windows or somthing for me to access the Internets with

CYPER - yep I understand you'll need to wait to see how the Auzies respond, re payment I can send £ by Internet banking to any UK bank account which is free but would have more security if we used BTC & it would be good to make the sale in BTC in any case. I saw here that one of the very old established forum members with very high post count & hopefully lots of OTC rep had offered to act as escrow anytime in these situations for free I think to facilitate BTC business, re my positive feedback on eBay I will PM you 2 of my accounts to see & also note that I have lent out 100 BTC to Deathandtaxes on 1/2 plus 250 BTC to Imsaguy on the 5/2 so expect that either one of those would be prepared to act as an escrow if I asked, perhaps also pirate@40 would too if he wasn't too busy plundering or whatever

I'm fine with it being disassembled for extra secure packing, if you can give very precise idiot proof instructions of how to put it back together again, like little coloured stickers on each part & where it plugs in to etc

np about deleting the HD but please to load it all up again with what's necessary to mine & point it to an account for me would be much appreciated

hi again,

I'll worry about my 'lecy being cut off later I guess so am happy to accept your offer of GBP equivalent to €1,100 including shipping to Spain, if you'd like a free holiday then feel free to bring it over yourself - though we've also got the EU Siberian winds cold snap atm, can you just remove your private data & leave all the rest pointed at an easy to start with miner or set one up for me, I don't mind if you know my passwords ID etc for that, let me know how best we can escrow this - if you can trust me I'm happy to Internet bank the £s on delivery or BTC as you like, my eBay ID is over 10 years of 100% very positive feedback with well more than 1,000 transactions if that helps

looking forward to giving your fab miner a new home in the sun, feel free to visit it any time you like  Smiley

Hi, if you're still offering then I've set up an account for my niece & I shall fund it with a $20 gift once you've added the $1, or maybe before, her Bitcoinica ID is: Hannah

Many thanks  Smiley

"This money can then either be cashed, or used electronically to pay bills online or even with a mobile phone."

backed by fiat £s but totally legal with FSA approval which looks like a good precedent for BTC

maybe, but hard to say as their site is down anyway until 11 Feb due to the apparently overwhelming demand
3053  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] 15 BTC for paypall on: February 05, 2012, 09:11:11 PM
if you still need or for future reference then I'm good for PayPal $ or £ for BTC, eBay IDs of over 10 years standing with well over 1,000 100% very positive feedbacks

Noted. might come in handy some time.
I wonder, why is there no automated service for this? There is no risk accepting bitcoins for PP.
I'm not sure, but I believe Bitinstant does this.

Look it up.

I did - they don't

3055  Economy / Lending / Re: [FUNDED]: Need a 100 BTC advance. on: February 05, 2012, 08:09:15 PM
received my first repayment chunk today  Smiley, will report again in a couple of weeks when full bal due paid  Grin

as a side note we found out that if you send BTC from your Mt.Gox account they don't actually enter the block chain if the receiving address is another Mt.Gox one, it's just handled internally like a Mt.Gox BTC code, maybe that quick too
3056  Economy / Lending / Re: Need a 100 BTC advance. Can repay over next 2 weeks by mining (continual repay) on: February 05, 2012, 06:51:31 PM
your lucky, lending huge amounts, if I had that much BTC i would lend for 0% interest Smiley and I would win the bid.
not necessarily, I may just decide to see your 0% & raise you by lending at -1%  Wink

many thanks to you both for the offers  Smiley

thanks for the info, that all sounds good, but I'd assumed that Ubuntu, drivers, miners, scripts, SSH & anything else that needed to be installed to mine would be already on it as you're using it for that I'd guessed, then you'd just need to explain to me how to point it at a pool or set that up for me would be best, otherwise I'll check out round here to see if anyone could do that for me & show me how to maintain it

if you haven't sold it by towards the end of next month then I expect to be visiting the UK for the last week or so & if we'd agreed everything then perhaps I could then pay in cash or BTC after you'd given me a demo plus any instructions I'll need & take it straight to shippers unless it can be well enough packed for hold luggage & hopefully by then I would have sorted out my 'lecy problem

OK forget the tech support, I'd just need very clear & simple instructions of what to plug in where & what I need to do to get it mining for the first time here, last month you offered it at €1,100 if paid in BTC to include shipping, which is £919 - so I'd expect an offer of £900 or less including shipping & to be using an escrow. Unfortunately I have some issues with my power supply that need to be resolved before I committed myself to this if we were to agree on a price etc, I hope to get that sorted in the next couple of weeks
