What if it just doesn't go down again?

that's what she said
2042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC up to $1 on: February 10, 2013, 10:18:11 PM
Just so you know LTC is already up to $37 http://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSE:LTC

LOL while BTC is up to only $3.08 Grin http://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSE%3ABTC&ei=4RsYUYDuBceXwQPYLQ

Though they're both doing very well year to date.
2043  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for people to store some of the forum's money on: February 06, 2013, 07:18:40 PM
I would be willing to help with this but would prefer to orchestrate a scheme where I don't have any access to take the money, but rather, have a partial key that I am trusted to release under some certain condition(s).  The ideal scheme allows one or more of the participants to disappear without impacting access to the funds.

Why not do a 2-of-3 scheme where you, someone like me, and one other person has a keypart, and two people need to cooperate in order to release the funds.  I have an escrow utility that does that now, it's based on EC multiplication.  Any similar facility such as in Armory would be equally acceptable (especially if interested in m-of-n where m,n != 2,3).

I would not charge a fee, unless charging a fee were an essential element to make it kosher, in which case it would be 1 BTC/year.

I'd be happy to do the same if you did decide to go this route or similar, np with sharing my full ID & contact details, I haven't used OTC much at all but tick the other boxes.

Edit: A really simple method of a some 2-of-4 partial key scheme could be to just give half of a private key or long brain wallet pass phrase to 2 ppl (A= you & B) & the other half to 2 others (C & D), then any combo of A or B + C or D would unlock the funds, but A + B or C + D doesn't.

2046  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would like to purchase 1 BTC on: February 05, 2013, 09:28:10 PM
If it's for long term investment/fun whatever then you get to lock the price in now, check what it was 50 days ago = potentially a nice deal for you & hopefully it is over the window of any PP charge back risk to me, anyway an option if you're in no hurry for delivery.
2047  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would like to purchase 1 BTC on: February 05, 2013, 08:59:00 PM
I'll do it for high price as shown on mtgoxlive.com/orders atm it's $20.79 sent to my PayPal as a gift, if there are any fees taken from it then you should find out & add enough to cover them or it gets taken from the BTC which will be sent 50 days after receipt of the PP funds so may work if you want this for building up your 10 BTC long term storage pot.
2048  Economy / Gambling / Re: This is the magnificent bitcoin gem on: February 04, 2013, 12:16:37 AM
Version 1 was fun as it was a biggest balls/ego/wallet 'Are you feeling lucky, well are you punk?' type game, very popular I gave up on trying to get a look in between 50 & 100 btc as the next levels went so fast one couldn't catch them before someone else got in (& 6 confirmations was silly & a pain, but it was obvious that it would race over 100 btc in no time for a nice safe punt or two).

But version 2 is a fail I feel, still hyped a bit on the old version I joined & quickly found of course that next to no one is playing this > 3% Russian roulette, then checked the FAQ as to why = BS things like after 24 hrs your bet goes to the house = sucks, so you end up needing to buy the gem from yourself to continue in such a slow interest game (I had Gollum lined up as my next, in the hope of attracting a naive Bilbo Baggins to run with it), thanks goodness that I managed to get in & out with only having to do this re-buy once - lucky maybe it was the weekend, I fear this version is doomed & doubt that it will ever get above 10 btc balance (except for the same person rolling over by having to buy their own top spot within 24 hrs), not fun to play at all, still I'm 1.31 btc up overall on it but it wasn't worth what I had risked imo.

Version 1, everyone knew what the end result would be, that was it's edge & for the spectators/traffic too, even for anyone left/stranded at the top spot that was cool, expensive risky crazy cool maybe but cool nevertheless.

It seems that this time it was a bet that I placed for my niece 1ELiZABETH that helped to gain the winning hash, along with Hannah & http://blockchain.info/address/17xD4wFBfMPF23WF6VG7QddLzXpp2MYL88 who's was the first bet on the Stranger's Pool & crucial first pool TX - all on the last day. So more good karma to you all for helping my charity & gift bets this month, it is really much appreciated.

It would appear that the BitLotto Pirate Pool is not going to be operational this month as it seems to have an invalid Bitcoin address that can't be sent to:

https://blockchain.info/address/17YhcYptSF2L48C361dTAMC98UpUGcZ4jPR

Other than that, everything else seems to be fine for the other addresses, suerte Wink

Pot nearly 20 btc (of the new improved > $20 values each coins) atm...
2051  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: January 31, 2013, 03:06:47 PM
Can you explain me why you would actually pay (paid upgrade) to do further business with a person that acts like that and showed he doesnt care for you?

I've lost a lot by backing gigavps, really a lot, I wish that I could just wash my hands of it but the paid upgrade may be the only way to have a chance to recoup some of my losses, I shall decide at the time - around the end of next week hopefully, it will be purely an expected profit vs potential additional loss decision & I'm assuming that most of the aggravation & cost will finally start to show some fair return - maybe I'm being a fool, time will tell.
2052  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: January 31, 2013, 02:37:01 PM
I've been to see a notario here in Spain today & just as I expected the whole thing is going to cost over €100, (not including my time & travel costs) in fact I had to pay €107 = over $145 of money just wasted as gigavps knows my claim was correct & valid but still insisted on this, it's now being sent to Barcelona for the apostates of the docs in English & Spanish plus of my passport which is going to take a week to do, anyway as soon as I receive it back I shall email it to both you & your lawyer where I expect it to be processed fast & efficiently so that I can take the paid teramining upgrade if that still seems to be worthwhile - I never had any answer from your lawyer, just you eventually telling me that I would have to get this done, so over one month was wasted.

I hope that the goddess Fortuna is taking a personal interest in this...

The goddess of cheap Spanish cigarettes?  We can only hope...

lol, I've lived in Spain for a few decades, still do, & have even smoked some of that brand when needs must, I quit over 7 years ago & since have concentrated more on her Pamp Suisse manifestations, she's up a very nice multi 100s% on those.

Fortuna cigs = like US Lucky Strikes smokes, not goddess related especially.
2055  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - The World's Most Popular Bitcoin Game on: January 28, 2013, 11:50:16 PM
This seems to be a very weird thing to be happening, I did one group multi about 10 bets in one TX & followed with another where a minute part of the imputs were SD lose refunds or wins from the previous bets & now it's just stuck, it will be interesting to see how long this takes to resolve, I hope that the goddess Fortuna is taking a personal interest in this...

& thanks to all for the suggestions, much appreciated, for now I'm just going to see what happens - if anything.
2056  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - The World's Most Popular Bitcoin Game on: January 28, 2013, 07:45:29 PM
It's been nearly 2 days now & the TX still hasn't entered the blockchain, over 10 btc with the standard 0.0005 fee, it can't be cancelled & I guess that I can't add to the fee now, so is there anything that I can do & if not will it be in limbo for ever or eventually get picked up, this seems quite a Bitcoin/Blockchain.info wallet failing to me & I'm surprised that I'd never heard of it before despite being around for quite a while.

Edit: Does the BTC client wallet advise for an appropriate fee to prevent this?
2057  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reusing bitcoin addresses? on: January 27, 2013, 10:49:15 PM
It's only relevant if you are aiming for 100% anonymity, otherwise it doesn't matter at all & you can keep using the same addresses for receiving & also sending TX np.

edit: as above
2058  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - The World's Most Popular Bitcoin Game on: January 27, 2013, 09:33:40 PM
I made a few bets many hours ago (Edit: in a single TX with 0.0005 btc miner's fee) & for some reason it doesn't seem to be getting any confirmations, can anyone tell me why it's taking so long to get picked up by the blockchain as this hasn't happened before with any of my TXs to anywhere, many thanks.

https://blockchain.info/tx/8660e94b332cc418ef8a0c74b37705dbe7f1b12be02396c878e31f68c74c9f6b

http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/txlist/ doesn't list it, so I guess the transaction hasn't been very widely broadcast.  It has a lot of small inputs, and lots of outputs.  I'd be surprised if 0.0005 BTC was a big enough fee.

Ah, many thanks, it's been like 20 hours now, I wasn't aware it had lots of inputs or that doing multiple bets in one TX may need a higher fee, in the past 0.0005 btc has worked fine for everything that I've sent anywhere, maybe I should step my default fee up to 0.001 though that's like nearly 2 cents & will soon add up, the ideal would be if blockchain.info wallet suggested the correct fee for each TX but maybe that's not possible or further in the future, this is the first time that I've had a TX hang like this for almost a day so far - it would be rather confusing for new adapters I'd expect.

Tom has given up, but promised "EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER WILL BE REFUNDED. PERIOD."
Just to confirm, my order was 25 units, I requested a refund for the credit card transactions around the 11th Jan from Dave and I got the money back this morning in my online statements, I did loose a few percent on the $USD vs EUR exchange rate.

But at least they are keeping their word.
That's good news...

I find it interesting how Tom blames the community for the shutdown of the company.

Just history repeating itself, he had the form on a smaller scale for all to see, guessing how this was going to end with the hubris shown = it will be an inevitable fail, no surprise there at all
