3141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can someone explain the trend of bitcoin casinos creating altcoins ? on: July 21, 2017, 08:26:49 AM
Till date all the casinos which have wanted to raise money or have an invest feature used to do it by launching a casino accepting investments in bitcoins and charging a commission on bets.

But now I see casinos like  creating an altcoin, accepting investments and issuing tokens to be traded on an exchange and keeping all the money raised upfront in the ICO.

Isn't that scammy ? Why can't they just accept bitcoins as regular investments ?

It actually depends on how you see it. Most people who are interested in invested their money, don't want to bother about what the site is going to use it for so far the site is known, the only question  they are bothered about is when will it be listed on the exchange and how they can push it on poloniex so the price will increase and they dump nothing more nothing else. Whether the site now keep the money and fail to develop what they intended to a large scale, no one cares and no one holds them responsible. So, they continue to have their way. Its unfortunate but its the situation of things.
3142  Economy / Speculation / Re: John McAfee: Bitcoin will go above 500k $ in 3 years on: July 21, 2017, 05:15:23 AM
For me, I would not based my decision on guess works which is obviously the expression of opinion of an individual without knowing the basis of his conclusion. I will take it as nothing other than various speculative threads we see during high price about how its going to reach the moon in few weeks or months without any reason to justify that position. And the bet he is going to do, is definitely not achievable.
3143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you would win a Jackpot what would you do with the money? on: July 20, 2017, 10:25:12 PM
If I should win a jackpot which is high enough like say 100btc, one thing that I am sure of is that, I can never be poor again neither can I struggle for money again because with that amount converted to my fiat, I am made for life with the amount of things I am going to do. My interest will be focused mainly on real estate which will bring streams of income on a regular basis without any struggle.
3144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in College??? on: July 20, 2017, 08:16:52 PM
If the exposure is there, then I see a lot of students being able to earn some amount of money online without affecting their studies using where I studied as a case study, I have seen students complain of lack of funds and wanting to work but there is no time due to them running a full time programme. Over here its so surprising that the discussion is not even informal, not to talk of formal discussion in class.
3145  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price starting to rise on: July 20, 2017, 06:17:08 PM
You guys must have noticed that bitcoin is now rising from #2300 to $2600 currently today. It's starting to regain its value. I have big faith on bitcoins.

What can you say about that? Will it go down again or will it continue to rise?

As at this time, I would better say the price has recovered in no small way compared to all time low that was witnessed in the last few days. However, I would not be comfortable because the panic can still renewed in the coming days ahead before we will see some constant and stable move in few days before and after August 1.
3146  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's happening with crypto markets? on: July 20, 2017, 02:43:34 PM
I have only recently become interested in the Cryptocurrency markets and potential for growth, and for this reason do not have great insight on the history of Bitcoin, Ethereum and all other altcoins, and their price swings.  I am baffled by the serious downturn the markets have taken in the last few days and am at a loss of words to explain it.  Does anyone know what might be causing the heavy selling that is taking place?  Is this mostly caused by Ethereum-holders (I'm thinking of the recent successful multimillion ICOs) cashing out?  Are investors unwinding positions because, perhaps, they fear the upcoming July Segwit2 Bitcoin activation may fail?

Let's discuss theories that might explain the down-swing!
No other reason except getting panic for selling bitcoins due to FUD spread by big whales. They have almost grabbed lots of bitcoins at cheap price. Now,i think show has ended. Now bitcoin price is speedily recovering and its now around $2588.Now altcoins also would start to recover since most of them are valued in bitcoin.
Currently that mark has even been surpassed as at the last I checked, its above 2600$ which is a great come back if you ask me compared to the low ebb we got in the last few days. And what is happening is not other than what I have always maintained that whatever happen to price is a function of all our effort and thats exactly what is going on. I am sure quite a number of people will be regretting their decisions now.
3147  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Seriously, smartphones will die within 10 years. on: July 20, 2017, 09:16:00 AM
First, most of forum members have internet access at home. Some still go to internet-cafe.
Second, smartphone is spying satan compared to basic phones or feature phones.
Third, feature phone browser is enough when on-the-go.
Fourth, buy a tablet or PDA when you must review documents or do something business-related on the go.
Fifth, many Wi-Fi hotspots are for monetization and making money.

That's why smartphones will die in 10 years, we will start again to use basic phones and make street internet great again. For example free or paid internet shed and telephone shed. For example London is getting uglier (no phone sheds) due to mobile phone revolution. I suggest everyone if you want to join the protest switch to basic phone for 3 days.

I will have to disagree with you because I dont see us going back to what we have left in the ages neither do I see us picking the situation of stress over comfort. Me personally, I cannot even remember the last time I visited the cafe or business centre because everything I want to is via my smart phone be it banking or, document, transfer or receive bitcoins etc. Technology will rather improve to make life more easy rather than going back to the time of hardship.
3148  Economy / Speculation / Re: where are you keeping your coins (1 aug) on: July 20, 2017, 06:22:25 AM
For me, with the several threads I have read on the forum, I go the way of keeping it where I have the private key to the wallet which is why I am going the way of Electrum because it provides me with such opportunities which I am comfortable with as no one knows what will happen eventually post August 1.
3149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Being Unemployed Drives People to go to Bitcoin on: July 19, 2017, 08:31:56 PM
Weeks ago, I am discussing Bitcoin to my sister and my future brother-in-law (then) When they got married recently, both of them were unemployed and have been trying to get a job immediately after their marriage. Up until now they have no luck. My sister then decided to talk to me about how do I earn Bitcoins. I gladly explained it to her and then she decided to do it too. She was so happy that she is already earning bitcoin and had some extra budget while they are both unemployed. And now, she is so eager to learn more how to earn more coins.

Being unemployed drove her into engaging to Bitcoins. Maybe some people are like this. They grab Bitcoin when they are in need of money. And since that these people are now engaged in Bitcoin, I am sure that they will stay in Bitcoin and treat it as an investment even though they will have a decent paying jobs in the future.

Its not totally true that being jobless push people to bitcoin because before the advent of bitcoin we have been surviving and even outside the forum, every one have his or her own private job that he performs while some even have family with their own kids. However, when you weigh the return of both compared to the level of energy involved then there is nothing wrong in choosing bitcoin.
3150  Economy / Speculation / Re: Finally, Bitcoin is Bouncing Back! on: July 19, 2017, 07:57:46 PM
The past two weeks are very historical for Bitcoin...this was the time when we saw a bloodbath for the cryptocurrency market. The official color became red as Bitcoin and other coins faced a great test of their resiliency and strength. Induced by that great fear for the possibility of a split in the Bitcoin network and the mess that can come afterwards, many Bitcoin holders converted their Bitcoin to cash and other coins.

Now, Bitcoin is already on the mode to fight back as we are already in the vicinity of $2,350 and because the split rumor is already dying down the value can now easily go up even up to $2,500 soon.

Is it time to party or should we still have to be cautious?

Its true that the price is recovering since yesterday and it has equally been stable but I think more of caution should still be put in place because the original factor that caused the crash has not been achieved yet which means the battle is not yet over to rejoice yet and hoping the upward trend can be sustained
3151  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 1 Million satoshis per day on: July 19, 2017, 03:47:34 PM
The way I see everyone talking here about trading like it is a piece of cake. As far as I am concerned no matter your skills, trading is just the same as gambling. You may loose, you may win as all your plays are based on predictions and speculations. Except you are channeling some huge amount of btc into something that I for one have no idea, I don't know how that 1m satoshi could suffice.

crypto is a wild market. you can easily make 0.2-3 btc with 1 BTC, only if you know where to put it exactly..
Is this for real? 0.2 - 3 btc with 1 btc. Is this suppose to be a daily earning or an accumulative monthly earning? I sure will like to know more from you. Ain't scared to be informed.

I would disagree with you on that, trading is not the same thing as gambling as the way they are both involved with risks, does not make them the same and yes its possible to make that amount of money in a day trading only knowing the right one to buy for example a coin thats about say 50 satoshis can climb up to about 120 satoshis within 6 hours whoch means if I invested 1btc in such, I would have made 100% return in 6 hours but he most important is knowing the right one to buy.
3152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees - I Think We All Been Scammed on: July 19, 2017, 02:48:14 PM
A few months ago there was this bit craze about fees and how fees was outrageous. People were chasing fees just to send the smallest of bitcoins. Then several threads start appearing about using other currencies like LTC, ETH, DOGE, etc. I've noticed for the last 2 weeks I have been able to send btc with only a .07 cent fee tied to it and they were getting confirmed in only a few blocks. Whereas If i tried this mess a few months ago it would sit for hrs if not days. I think those behind the scene were scamming us and controlling the flow of inputs just to fu^k us over!

Its actually something that calls for concern because even now I tried to check the price and I also found out that has reduced drastically compared to few months ago but we cannot all attribute it to scammers considering that the activities surrounding bitcoin these days has reduced due to the various uncertainty and release from the exchange site and a recovery back from an all time low in a while. This could reduce the traffic on the network there by making low fees confirms faster.
3153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IF YOU BOUGHT $5 OF BITCOIN 7 YEARS AGO, YOU’D BE $4.4 MILLION RICHER on: July 19, 2017, 12:56:28 PM
But the issue here in essence is that not many people bought 7 years ago that still have their lot till today. Those who were lucky to have bought then, would have sold if not all larger percentage of what they have in the various ups and down that have been witnessed in the last 7 years so in essence tracing back memory lane, there is hardly any one who would have bought at 5$ and would be that rich today. We might have but will be very scanty.

I've known about Bitcoin for so long but never actually thought about investing in it. I regret my decision, but I'm in it now and and I still see huge potential for it. I believe that in the next 7 years it'll make huge gains.

If everybody had known then we would all have been rich... Dont stress it, you are not the only one.

Your argument might be right based on the angle you are looking at it from, but from my point of view and the calibre of people I have been in touch with, most of them have their days jobs but because of the fact that the have more time in their hands, then there is nothing wrong in making extra bucks on the side. Anyone who is not employed but start earning something in bitcoin which is meeting his/her needs, I doubt if such individual will want to look for a day job any longer.
3155  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Latest News from Livecoin on: July 19, 2017, 11:42:38 AM
With all release coming from several exchange sites these days and even more to come, I guess the best decision is to follow the golden recommendation which is to keep the one bitcoin where one can exercise control because some exchange sites might just use that as an excuse to get away from the cryto-space with depositors fund because by the time they now have a reason to suspend operations, then next is for them not to resume again which I will not take a chance but still expecting release from e-wallets providers how they want to handle this.

13 Japanese Exchanges Agree to Suspend Bitcoin Service on August 1
Quote
The Japan Cryptocurrency Business Association has officially announced its plan on how to deal with the possibility of a Bitcoin protocol split on August 1. Thirteen of the group’s bitcoin exchange members, including Coincheck, Gmo-Z, Bitbank, and Bitpoint, will suspend bitcoin deposits and withdrawals on August 1 at 00:00 Japan time.

We decided to temporarily stop accepting bitcoin deposits and withdrawals at each exchange…We will stop only the services related to depositing and withdrawing bitcoins, but we will provide our other regular services for virtual currencies and legal currencies.

This is exactly what is expected to happen and even on the forum here, there is notice to avoid sending or receiving bitcoin 12hours before or after the August 1 in which everybody should heed to without any need for excuses. For them coming out to notify the public is a demonstration that they are committed to what is really going on which might not even be sorted out days after August 1 in case there is a split. Anyone having coins on those exchange, the best is to start moving to a more secure wallet.
3157  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sexbots. Will you be indulging? on: July 19, 2017, 09:23:21 AM
Lots of people seem to moaning with increasing intensity about the rise of sexbots. Some are claiming there'll be moral dilemmas as I assume a proper one will need some type of sentience.

Personally I can't ever see myself going for it. If I'm not imagining some bored Foxconn slave testing out the muff I'm slobbering all over, I'll be trying to catch it out like early text only adventure games by throwing out surreal suggestions.

Are you already saving up or will you stick to donkeys and greased holes in the ground?

I dont see myself engaging in this because aside the fact that this dolls are very much on the high side, there are several people of opposite sex that one can engage with in the world and with adequate protection, one is good to go rather than having it with a doll that would neither exhibit any passion nor have any feelings towards the other party. I would rather not have sex at all, than to have it with a doll.
3158  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Libertarianism Sucks on: July 18, 2017, 07:00:42 PM
There is no perfect economic system in the world with each coming with its own advantage and disadvantages but in the midst of negative scenerios, then we pick the least positive which is the reason why I will still go with capitalism because it can be controlled with a strong government. Companies that are guilty of toxic material dumping in third world country are not to be blamed but the useless third world countries governments who are not doing enough to protect their citizens because in the advance countries where those goods are coming from, you dont try that nonsense with the citizens without facing serious sanctions and backlash. The regulation of capitalism is mostly the responsibility of government in which if they are ready to fight against, they will reduce it drastically.
3159  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Money 💰💰💰 on: July 18, 2017, 05:47:27 PM
Money is one of our most important part in our life and we all work for money. I accept that money can buy a house, car, dresses and all things which we need in our day today life. But can money bring us true happiness???

A small incident which is making me feel if Money is the only thing we need in life. One of my cousin is married and have 2 kids and the younger one is just a year old. They are planning to leave their kids with their parents and go to a foreign country to earn more money. I cant imagine if both of them can be happy without seeing their kids or money has made them to take this decision. Do you think its a right decision?Huh

Also,Why is money so important in our life?

Money can buy all things even though its not the right decision for both parent to abandon the kids at such a tender age, it would have been better if one of them should go and the other should stay behind and mange the home front but the issue again is that will the love that will be lacking now be enough to sustain the family if there is no source of income. If they can make enough money and keep the family running and ensure that those kids never suffer, when they grow up, they will understand why some decisions are taken in extreme circumstances.
3160  Economy / Economics / Re: About world crisis and criptocurrency on: July 18, 2017, 02:25:11 PM
The issue here is still rests on the volatility surrounding bitcoin at this time in which no one knows when it will stabilizes and you dont expect people running away from one uncertainty to face another uncertainty which is the reason why a lot of people wont be considering bitcoin as an option except those of us already in it and most people also will also want to share their investment to be partly bitcoin and partly other stable assets like gold as others have suggested.
