I do believe it's clean. Decided to leave it running for a while inside a VM, and lo and behold, it ended up connecting to the network after all. I saw a bit of suspicious traffic, but ended up just being an attempt to bootstrap itself by connecting to the #mincoin00 channel in giraffe.heliacal.net. Also attempted to do a bit of mining, and even though Reaper was claiming they were all stales, the debug.log file suggests some went through.
I wonder if it's just redirecting our work to it's creator's pool, mining litecoins for him, and sending bogus messages about finding blocks. I don't see how it can be real without a blockchain download.
Seems to be adding up a bit.

Because I live, dream, eat, and shit fiat. When I wanna buy a bottle of coke, I don't think about how much it's going to cost me in silver. Since everything is priced in fiat, we think of something in terms of it. So if I wanted to buy a car, I could easily figure out how much that car would cost in fiat, and then see how much I could get it for in bitcoin. It's a lot harder to do that without fiat as a medium.

I want aircoin that can be run on a TRS-80 16 KB RAM.... I want malecoin, the only coin with a gender. I hear almost half the population is affected by this condition--could be a real keeper.

because everybody want to get rich, and tought they missed out the bitcoin -buy in
Basically this. But we know it's true. Bitcoin will have competition, and the more people you get to buy these coins, the higher the price. Ignoring human greed, this is a good thing. The more people hop on board, the greater the odds that Bob will accept those coins at his shop. It's like cancer

TRC or PPC, simply because I'm running out of options. NVC is such a silly piece of software that I can't take it seriously. Namecoin is odd and intended for other purposes. Devcoin is devcoin. SolidCoin...don't know much about that one, but for some reason, I don't like it.

I made the .conf file but still stuck with a blank terminal seemingly doing nothing.
Not sure what the deal is.

Yeah, and BTC could have crashed and be worth nothing, and they would have literally nothing.
I always cringe when someone says this. I take it you didn't read the white paper? Unless we can assume the whole world is populated a bunch of dumb zombies, there's no way BTC could've amounted to completely nothing.

Thanks for the help, but I'm getting an error when I try to build the graphical interface: make: makefile.unix: No such file or directory make: *** No rule to make target `makefile.unix'. Stop.

I've bought a touch of PPC, only speculative buying. I'm still a bitcoin man at heart. Alot of time and development gone into Bitcoin.
The PPCoin dev seems to be putting in a ton of work on his, too.

But what's the point? He's not going to change his opinion because you tell him he's clueless. People rarely react that way, in particular when they already have a strong opinion.
So when they do come to their senses you have proof of "I told you so"
