387  Economy / Gambling / Re: HourlyBitcoin.com - 1% of your deposit directly to your Bitcoin every hour. on: May 08, 2014, 06:23:26 AM
Our program is based on certain weakness found in several mining algos. We cannot reveal the full details yet since we would like to use this opportunity ourselves. Instead we offer you a chance to make money together.

This is indeed the strangest way I have seen ponzi owners claim to make money lol. Cheesy

How long does "database optimization" usually take? Dailybitcoins.org has been unavailable for at least a couple of hours. If it is expected, it's fine. Will check back later in the day.

The process has already finished now. Smiley

393  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: buying 4 Teraminers for $7500 need advise on: May 08, 2014, 05:30:00 AM
I think i am getting a pretty good deal, but i need some advise from you fine people. getting 4 of the cointerra teraminers. the 1.6 T/H each.
$7500 and i have seen them hashing in person. Now my question if i can start mining tomorrow, is this a good investment?
How much profit can i make assuming free electric and a 1% pool?
I will tip some of you guys for helping me.

$7500 for 4 * 1.6TH/s TerraMiner? That would be a pretty great deal.
Where did you find the cheap miners?  Huh
394  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Begginer BTC Miner Wants Some Help! on: May 08, 2014, 05:25:17 AM
My only real problem is that I'm in highschool, so i don't have tons of money to invest in this right away.

That is not the problem at all. The real problem here is bitcoin mining is not profitable now, at current difficulty.

Is profitable if you can invest more money, like 3000 euro?

I don't think so...It is better to buy bitcoin directly IMO.
395  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mine, or Buy? on: May 08, 2014, 05:22:15 AM
If you have free electricity, you already have a big incentive to try out mining to see if it's for you. Contrary to what most will say, you will eventually get back your investment but it takes time. Mining isn't for instant gratification. For me, I mine because I like seeing my btcs accumulating day by day. I'd vow that I wouldn't pay fiat to get btcs, but I relented when it hit the sub-400 level, that's just too good to pass. But after I bought, I'm left with a sense of 'ok, what now'. Having had both experiences, I decided I prefer mining than buying. Plus, mining takes out the agonizing wait for price to rise, and the despair when price falls. IMO, mining now is better than buying, because you'll never see the volatility of last year again because Bitcoin is stabilizing. Those who buy now thinking in a month's time prices will double, they're sitting on empty hopes, and if you're weak hand you won't last and you'll lose out and start criticising Bitcoin, like one forumer here who gave up because she bought high and sold low.

Not if you buy miners with BTC.  Only if you buy miners with Fiat, is the mining strategy better.

If you buy miners with BTC at this "low price" you're throwing Bitcoins away that you'll never mine back.

With that logic, it is better to buy bitcoin directly than to buy miners which won't give you as much bitcoin. Smiley
396  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are my chances to earn/mining bitcoins? on: May 08, 2014, 05:19:41 AM
I'm not just new, but very new in this. What are my chances to earn/mining bitcoins? I have a PC and I live in China (currently, because I'm from Europe, but now I live and work in China).
Please, someone with more experience to give me a realistic answer. May I hope to earn something or not?
Thanks in advance, good people!

You won't mine anything with your PC.
You can buy ASICs to mine bitcoin, but I am not sure you can get your investment back...
397  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: could I use a old server for mining? on: May 08, 2014, 05:12:53 AM
I have an old HP ProLiant DL360 G4 server, that I was thinking about using for mining.
I wanted to know if it would be possible to use as is (stock).
Hardware specs are:
2x intel xeon 3400dp/2m/800/sl7zd
4GB Ram
Hp 128Mb Battery Backed Write Cache
2x 72.8GB 15000RPM Wide Ultra SCSI
Huh
not sure what else is in there
currently installed OS is Windows Server 2003

Could anyone let me know if i would need some different hardware installed into it or might it work as is?

if you really must mine something,  buy a u2 antminer for ~20 and plug it into that server. you'll still lose money on electricity and hardware cost, but you'll have way more hashing power Cheesy

+1.
If anyone want to try mining for fun, you could just buy a USB miner, and have fun solo-mining. Cheesy

400  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: why i cannot add my forum id as tag of my btc address in blockchain on: May 08, 2014, 05:00:06 AM
the only thing that is working is that you have your address listed on a website and you link the website.

Does it works with the bitcointalk profile page (for example, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=253683 for OP)?
